I def agree, it's such an easy show to just sit down at watch. Also one question, will you be sticking with 2 eps a week for HxH? Asking cause it's a long show

agoodwintv

5 videos a week seems to be the sweet spot so 2 videos makes the most sense. However, let's say JJK ends and there's no recurring show to fill that gap, then I will probably start alternating extra episodes of HxH and whatever show is next, or just watch more HxH, depending on what the 2nd show is.

Ah yes, one of the greatest fictional dynamics is sparked casually by two preteens striking up a conversation. I’m serious, this is in my top 3 fictional character dynamics, right up their with Guts/Griffith and Walter/Jesse. Anyways, while I had a lot of faith that the show would appeal to you, and knew that, in the worse case, the sheer quality of the show would help you like it, but I was a little worried it might not be completely up your alley the same way as Haikyuu or others and it could be hard to keep talking about it every every episode in the nature of this channel. This soothed my worries and showed that you do genuinely like the style of the show and will have a lot to talk about and keep you entertained for the future.

One thing about hunter x hunter i noticed is that a lot of things dont really make much sense early on. Like the hunter exam is very random. And the number of hunters we see later on really doesnt add up with how few people pass according to these early episodes. I think its very much a series where you need to not take the early stuff (or stuff in general) too serious and you will enjoy it more.

I'm loving this, although I have an exam tomorrow I decided to stay up to enjoy these 25mins of downtime. Thanks Mr.Goodwin!

It is also the same animation studio that made Parasyte!! After HxH... Madhouse's next project was Parasyte. The animators even left a little Easter Egg on the last episode of HxH I wonder if you'll be able to spot it! (If you'll remember since thats another 144 episodes until the finale)

Anya Mcghee

I can't wait till you react to THAT episode (referencing just about every episode of the series)

The puns: the Japanese title is ki-bou x ya-bou. Har har. Also, the Japanese word for swamp is "numa," hence the "Numere Swamp." (Basically the Japanese equivalent of calling it 'Swampy McSwamperson'). It's almost like Togashi is telling the audience directly "You know what, what's important are the ideas and the exploration of alternate possible universes. Just enjoy the ride." 😀 Also, credit where credit is due: Alex did not fall for the doppelganger this time.

Sacha

Same age + Other did something cool = friendship for life 😭 Togashi just knows how to write children perfectly and most importantly their friendships. Some things are just iconic and “I’m Killua” “I’m Gon” will forever be so. It really is the simple things. Also official ages at this time are Gon and Killua - 12 Kurapika - 17 Leorio - 19 (yes you are ‘teen’ my boy)

Definitely, but I do think there is a degree to where some of the more fantastical elements get interesting explanations, like how Hunters work. I got a little too excited last video and dropped a massive dump of info about the intricacies about how Hunters work prematurely that I deleted because another commenter pointed out it was too spoilery. Edit: Oh crap, wrong comment

Sacha

Me looking at nearly all anime characters knowing I’m like over a decade older then them and just accepting my fate 😄

Anya Mcghee

its always an intresting feeling to grow older than your childhood idols XD

agoodwintv

Outgrowing Onizuka was a big one for me. I still haven't become leader of a motorcycle gang yet

Anya Mcghee

I mean,, you could probably teach all your subscribers how to ride a motorcycle and it'll almost be the same thing

Jake White

There’s also a small Easter egg in episode 58! Without spoiling anything, the location that the cast is in during episode 58 has a small radio playing background music for the room beneath the dialogue, and one of the songs that comes on the radio is Parasyte’s OP!

I'm just commenting to say that I'm enjoying these HxH reactions so much! The beginning might be a bit slow, but I've always really liked the chill atmosphere of the beginning episodes. Which also creates so much wonder because we're essentially discovering the world only through the perspective of our protagonists. And to me that makes it feel so grounded and like a true adventure :)

Had to come back to Patreon to witness the 🐐 react to one of my favorite anime ever. Man this one is gonna be special

Ruma Risto

I think I started enjoying the show around episode 7 but episode 20 was the one that convinced me this was a series worth finishing. I personally hate it when people hype up episodes in advance but for me ep 20 really was a game-changer

Manny

“I realized I can keep going if I forget how stupid I look.” I’ve always loved that line from Leorio.
