Man what a first season. It's such a good introduction and we get attached to all of the characters. We understand that in sports there is always gonna be winners and losers and sometimes we just can't be the winner. But the response of how you deal with that loss is everything. Season 2 will take everything we love about season 1 and amp it up. It's time to train and grow physically and mentally. Can't wait for the continuation. :))

amazing! can't wait for more :))))

AryTheDog

really glad you loved s1, the show just keeps getting better from here on. Also as a sidenote, season 1 is actually turning 9 years old in spring

The manga is complete while the anime ongoing. And the only problem Haikyuu fans have with the ending is that we can't meet and tell Hinata, Kageyama and just all the characters introduced, how proud we are of them. This show never fails to warm my heart and rewatching all these episodes knowing how it's all going to end brings happy tears to my eyes.

Not sure if you know this already but there are currently 4 seasons of the show. The manga is finished and the remaining chapters are going to be adapted as 2 movies (coming out sometime this year i think). Most manga readers (including me) are kind of sceptical of this as there is a lot left to cover. Way to much for "only" 2 movies. So a lot is probably going to be cut. Kind of sad as the remaining chapters conain some of the most hype and thematically important matches and storylines. But i guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out

so amazing to re-watch this season with you, it's still just as good as I remember--and not only that, but it just constantly keeps getting better. The characters feel so real and like personal friends, sort of how you said it feels like for you this is happening real time. I'm so drawn to this cast and genuinely can't wait to keep going on this journey with you :) so excited for you to see what's to come!

Guys, I think he likes Haikyuu.

Chris Sharpe

I mean… I was fighting for HxH, but this was still great. Really liked it after I finished.

I think what Daichi meant by passing the team on is that they can learn how to play as a team without the third years. Which honestly would be quite different. You lose your 2nd best reciever in Daichi and an amazing captain. You lose Suga who is a mature and intelligent setter, and then you lose your ace. Other players will have to fill those shoes and the third years leaving will give them more time to solidify this before they get to the next year and have the new rookies come in.

This is just the start!!! The later seasons will be much better than this one!

27:00 Goodwin: makes predictions for the next season for seemingly everyone but the supposed main character, haha. Kinda brings me back to ATLA where he was doing impressions of everyone except for Aang, haha. 3:10 Again, the 6 crows flying into the distance. Presumably Daichi's inner thoughts about a team going on without him? 9:10 Subtitles: "His chances of becoming a professional athlete," --> that's not exactly what he said, but it's close. The teacher was saying Suga's chances of getting into university on an athletic recommendation/scholarship are low. 18:45 "It's so good that everyone showed up despite there being no practice." Yeah, including Ukai himself, haha. Of note, you'll have the name "Ukai" come up in an MHA episode soon, so repeating what it means. In Haikyuu, Ukai is spelled 烏養, "crow nurturing." In MHA, the name is written in the more common way, 羽飼, "wing(-ed animal) tamer/owner." Same same. My one thing that I can't stand about Haikyuu: people sucking on the water bottles, haha. That's just really not in any way remotely okay. You don't touch your lips to the water bottles, whether they're your own personal ones (which they appear to be) or not. My Japanese friends are equally appalled, and given, it might be a generational thing, but I'm just really grossed out by that every time I see it, haha.

Yeah the team would be a mere fraction of itself without the 3rd-years, but I like that they showed that tension for "if we *don't* win at Nationals, then we've made the juniors' chances of winning the following year less likely." I think that's part of the emotional responsibility they take on in deciding to stay.

Ryan

I was actually worried that he didn't until somewhere around 1x16-ish, but it does build slowly. So does HxH, for that matter, I suppose.

Chris Sharpe

@Ryan Yeah, now that I’ve watched it, due to the shorter length I think that it is overall a bit of a better to do first, but I will be on a crusade for HxH on next poll, mark my words.

For me out of the 4 season's this one is def my second fav just behind the upcoming Season 2, I know that the 3rd season is crazy highly rated tho

As you reiterated in your season recap, it was the characters and the relationships that you fall in love with. You can't help but root for these guys after seeing what they've gone through, and what they've experienced! As much as I love season 1, I think I'm even more excited for season 2. Thank you for watching the show!

Ryan

I think the comment does that pretty effectively. Sorry about that. Is it the MHA mini spoiler, or just the whole thing?

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

I don't know why Ryan but everytime you rarely aren't being 100% entirely educational your replies make me laugh out loud lmfaoo... "I think the comment does that pretty effectively". So good.

Hannan

this episode is one of the ones i rewatch the most. i watch it when i’m feeling down because the first half validates my feelings and makes me feel less alone. watching hinata and kageyama let out their frustration is very therapeutic. then the second half helps me find the strength to pick myself up and keep going

Hannan

i especially love the scene with shimada and yamaguchi. it makes me feel like my struggling will all be worth it one day

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

And I shall wage the counter crusade for whatever show has the best bet at beating HxH, inshallah🙏

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Surely Haikyuu won by fair play... the random insane voting jumps in the poll overnight must've been a coincidence... surely... What needs to be done, will be done, mark my words.

agoodwintv

That's hilarious :D I never even thought about that but yeah definitely more hygenic
