I could be mistaken about this but I heard from some fairly consistent sources awhile back that this episode had nearly 5ish times the amount of frames as a typical anime episode. Most mainstream 20ish minute anime episodes contain around 3-5,000 frames, whereas this one supposedly was comprised of around 20,000 individual frames.

Yep... now wait till you hear this. Every single episode of Season 1 Legend of Korra had between 25,000-30,000 individual frames, all of them for the entire first season until they nuked that animation studio cause Korra flopped hard. No animated show since or before had ever reached that amount of frames per episode average.

This makes me want to go back and watch it again. Despite how much it means to me I've only seen it once through

Yeah Korea’s animation was always outstanding, and even though losing studio Mir definitely was a big hit/loss, I still really enjoyed the rest of the series’ animation and thought it was really unique and interesting how they finished the rest of the series between 3+ studios across the US, Korea, and Japan. Plus as a yuyu Hakusho and naruto fan growing up, it was super unexpected to say the least when I heard that Pierrot was gonna be involved with the final season lol

Love us getting a top 4 action scene for the show being Dimple vs Sentient Broccoli. Of course the animating god himself Yutaka Nakamura somehow making broccoli firing lasers look insane as hell. What a great season.

No this was episode 8 if I remember correctly. People thought it had to be a this fight scene but in reality if you watch the animation for episode 8 it's apparent that so much of it was hand drawn individually. It's super cool.

the broccoli firing lasers is unironically the coolest looking piece of animation in this whole episode, and thats saying something

@Goodwin A LOK patreon only rewatch just like you did for ATLA would be incredible I am not gonna lie.

Skyler Anderson

Honestly the entire nakamura cut is insane looking. The hand drawn animation of the rainbow lights spinning out of the broccoli gave me a heart attack.

Jake White

Ah fair enough, I knew it was one of these episodes and couldn’t remember specifically which so just assumed this was the one lol

Bighead

Dimple was a legend.

@Jasmine As far as I know, an episode of Korra has 18k drawings per episode on average, ofc still a ridiculous amount. I think it was Alex on Corridor Crew in an animators react video who mentioned it. They went from Studio Mir to a Japanese studio after season 1, but both studios finished season 2 and I think Studio Mir might've done the Wan episodes. Regardless, the amount of work they put into Avatar is insane. The animated movies are probably going to be nuts. Also yes to a rewatch :)

iaani

wow Dimple really Spider-Man No Way Homed himself

As someone who hasn't seen Mob Psycho, these comments make me wonder what the hell is going on in this show, hahaha

I was really interested in what you were saying about ideologies being like organisms, evolving and finding niches. Really is some good good for thought. Also, you mentioned the Last of Us in the video, are you watching the show? Do you like it? Are you a fan of the game?

agoodwintv

I loved the first game and am watching the show now. I've also very slowly been watching a playthrough of the 2nd game

@A Goodwin TV That’s great, I hope you enjoy it! Also in regards to part 2, don’t let the online hate rub on you, it’s best to come to your own conclusions with it.
