I personally don't mind if reactors dislike Oikawa (mostly because I've seen a lot that really don't like him). It's pretty funny! I just hope that whenever that is the case, reactors don't miss important moments or character storylines. I'm excited to see where this goes!

Aray YIKAMACI

Oikawa looking like L :)

Hannan

'he's got the kinda room invisible girl would hate' is the funniest thing you've ever said fr

Mima

That comeback dump by Kageyama is soo satisfying, it never gets old!! Absolutely love it. Also the Oooooooooooooh whenever Oikawa serves😂 It makes me laugh whenever people feel irritated by Oikawa because I was on the same boat while watching Haikyuu for the first time, takes me back. There's just something about the way he handles himself that's very annoying. All the more reason I can't wait for you to get to know his character better and see how your feelings for him progress as the show goes. We see a glimpse of his dedication and love for volleyball this episode with him going as far as to take the responsibility of reviewing Karasuno's match on himself. But anyway, this match definitely sets a precedent for all the matches to come, it just keeps getting better.

Alex didn't catch that Oikawa name is Toru (I'm still waiting for your reaction to Fruits Basket movie 🥲) After finishing watching the news Daichi said "let's do it" and the other teacher thought he was talking about suicide 😖 that's why he had that reaction IKE IKE IKE SEIJOU OSE OSE OSE SEIJOU!! Always gives me chills Oikawa-Kageyama backstory is *chef kiss*

Ryan

Oikawa is many things, but "kind"....?

Seth

The AOT trailer dropped today

I won't see it but I know that part 3 will be divided into 2 parts, at this point I feel is like a joke, Final Season part 20 here we go

- I've mentioned before how Ukai, Takeda, and the others aren't really financially compensated for their work on the team, but I think what's so great about this series is how it portrays that volunteer experience not as a "sacrifice," but rather like an investment in other people, and vicariously, in themselves. Haikyuu is very keen to point out how every "side character" connects to the main storyline, and as someone who is effectively a side character in a bunch of people's lives, I take inspiration from that and try to be more like Takeda, Ukai, or the others we'll meet in Season 2 and beyond. I agree that it's funny that Takinoue and Shimada are seemingly taking all of their paid leave to be the two-man cheerleading squad for Karasuno, but I think that they're getting something out of it that's just as valuable for their time not spent at work. - Just like before with Date Tech, the Seijoh cheerleaders who are wearing uniforms are most likely other members of the volleyball team. Only 14 get to be on the court, but a school like Seijoh probably has at least 30 people on their volleyball team, so the rest cheer from the stands. It's not really discussed a whole lot in the show, but it's pretty impressive that, on a team like Seijoh's, both of Kageyama's former teammates ("too-disinterested-to-chase-the-ball" Kunimi and "turnip-head" Kindaichi) made it onto the starting line-up as 1st years. [Edit: I didn't answer Goodwin's question at 15:10. I had one (self-appointed) job!] "Do you get awards for positions?" Actually, it's kinda complicated. In some places, they'll give best setter, libero, blocker, and spiker, yes, but in most national competitions like Inter-High or the Spring Tournament, they don't block it by position. Instead, they'll pick 6 players and name them the "Best 6" for the tournament, regardless of position, and then another few players will get "great performance" awards, again regardless of position. Basically, each local area or tournament does what they want, but there are some individual awards, yes.

Seth

It’s supposedly going to be 2 special episodes so they’ll be at least an hour long. I think it’s good they’re taking their time, they’re definitely going all in for the animation

Ryan

I also love the Seijou cheer. :) I don't think Daichi was talking about suicide. "Yaru ka" typically means "you wanna go?" as in, you're starting a fight, or going to go beat someone up. "Yaru" just means to "do," but it also means "to kill" as in "to check off the list." Takeda clarifies that it's the "meeting" they're going to 'yaru,' not the Seijoh players or the media or someone. They're not starting trouble, even though that's what it sounds like. You wouldn't say "yaru ka" to talk about killing yourself, though. It's for taking out other people, haha.

lmfao aint no way they are doing aot season 4 part 3 part 1 and aot season 4 part 3 part 2 im dead

Oikawa is simply just too cool for most reactors and viewers of Haikyuu, I understand being annoyed by his Alpha energy and peak human performence, but this is what a true Sigma on his grindset looks like. Oikawa the GOAT

Chris Sharpe

Wake up babe, new AOT just dropped. That animation in the trailer was looking sexy.

Ryan

Haha! I mean, not quite as psychotic as that, I hope. Also, Chris, I keep waffling back and forth on whether I should document all the onomatopoeia for you or not, haha. Wish it was just Discord where I could do it as a private message. Anyway, 9:26, "piri piri" to mean "on edge / prickly." 13:42 "kire (k)kire" means "crisp / clean / smooth."

Megan

I’m just happy we’re getting a March release date. There was no news for so long I thought it would end up release late in the year.

agoodwintv

He gave praise... once. Actually I think right after that he turns it into a taunt

agoodwintv

They seem to get a whole lot out of being there. There are so many days at work but only so many chances to watch a team you know play in an elimination tournament in a sport you love. First your Japanese knowledge and now critical volleyball info! A true ace

agoodwintv

I'm ready to love him when he's not standing in the way of my dreams of a Karasuno championship

Ryan

아첨이 좋네요, haha. For me, the volleyball info is just an extension of language; providing context for why or how people say things. I only knew some of it before watching the show the first time. Most of it I just looked up because I want to know how to say it. "Language of ___" (language of sports / of science / of romance / of music / of ...) Having a place to share it is nice, haha.
