btw, the next episode isn't the last one, the show has 13 eps and then 2 movies after that

Megan

Just a reminder there are two movies, not just one. The first one to watch is Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Dolls (2019) and then Violet Evergarden The Movie (2020) Both movies are at the same quality of the show, if not even higher quality. Also they’re both on Netflix to watch. Very excited for your reactions.

AryTheDog

yup, the first is content wise pretty much like a longer 90 minute episode while the 2nd is a direct sequel for the tv series

AryTheDog

a bit random but something i think is worth knowing is that both movies are very significant in an unfortunate way, the first was the last project to be completed before the kyoani arson while the 2nd was in production when it happened, so both films contain the last works of important staff members who unfortunately passed away.

Why's this show gotta do this to me man.... it's so tough. Guess it's also easier to project onto characters that share your name lol. This one isn't quite as hard for me as the last one. But this one really ties things together for Violet I think. She's seeing both sides of the war here - and she understands. She knows how it feels. It hurts so much, but her job is legitimately important, and those people will never forget what she did for them.

just a reminder that tomorrow the jujutsu kaisen 0 movie comes out on crunchyroll~

LETS GOOOO Can't wait to see Goodwin's reaction to that banger of a movie, although I wish he could've experienced it in an IMAX theatre when it released cause the action sequences do be hitting differently on the big screen.

benj

Still can't believe it. The future works that we were all robbed of, just thinking about that enrages me.

benj

They are both definitely better quality when it comes to the production (animation). Storywise though... lots of mixed opinions there. But I love the finale movie as much as the main TV series, the other movie was gorgeously animated but I didn't end up caring too much about the plot, I'm excited to rewatch here though with Goodwin's analysis cause I might enjoy it a lot more.

Bro that like 100 hit Gojo combo was one of the best things I’ve ever witnessed at the movies

Megan

I really liked both of them. I rewatched the first movie again and I loved it, even more than the second movie (which I also rewatched). I won’t get too into it until Goodwin watches it. To each their own.

Megan

I’m forever salty that I had to leave half way through movie in theaters cause I was feeling sick. I still haven’t had a chance to watch the whole thing yet. So glad it’s finally available for streaming!

have you ever considered starting a discord server for your community? Would be cool i think

Brimmy

I couldn't remember what this ep was about and then she said his name and i was like \OH FUCK THE FEELS I REMEMBER\ Man Alex this is either the worst time for u to watch VE or the best time cuz it helps get the tears out (oh i typed this before u said u were bottling up stuff well then) also...if i remember correctly i didn't cry until violet cried ldfkgldfjg

Brimmy

I've brought it up before and there were others who liked the idea but this was months ago maybe one day?

benj

people have brought this up many times, goodwin says he doesnt want to do it cause he already has to manage a bunch of other social media platforms and doesnt have a lot of experience with discord i would love a channel discord and dont think it would be too much time to setup, especially if you can get one or two really good moderators who actually do most of the work, which will be a minimal amount in the first place

Seems like everyone on here dislikes the finale movie (or at least thinks its the worst part of the franchise). Very interesting considering its one of the most critically acclaimed and highly rated animated films ever made. I am looking forward to Goodwin's thoughts as you said, and based on his opinions in this show so far, I think he's gonna really like it as do I.

Totally off topic (this episode made me very sad and I don't want to think about it), but someone on the Patreon recommended the anime “Planetes” awhile back, mentioning it was an older show from the mangaka of Vinland Saga. I checked it out, and it was incredible- some real introspection to be had by both the audience and the characters. I would definitely recommend making note of it as a potential future show! I think there is a lot to say about it, for something so gravely underrated.

benj

Damn this episode ruined me. Got me a lot harder on rewatch. This show is the master of making you cry.

Ahhhhh, almost through Emotional Damage the Anime. Each episode just breaks me down further & further as we watch Violet come full circle into learning what "I love you" means, and in this episode especially understanding why the major said it. The series makes me feel a lot of emotions, but I'm never upset to watch it.

“Returning to the same world but with an entirely new perspective, meaning it won’t be the same world for Violet,” “It’s be hilarious if this whole show just turned out to be propaganda for the post office. Sponsored by: your local post office,” “Who would win in a fight between Violet and Thorkell?” “Ah, man. It hurts,” (leans out of frame) “Goodbye,” “It’s either gonna break her or make her like the greatest person ever,” “The world is a cruel teacher, but there’s a benevolence to it,” “The show is a Doll,”
