Twice is actually just a good guy who got absurdly unlucky and had nobody there for him. It's extra sad because that exact type of backstory happens so often in real life as well, Luck (or lack thereof) is massively underestimated when it comes to the effect it has on one's life.

Matthew Richson

So, you’ve now seen the full extent of Twice’s quirk. Sure is a broken power no? NTM, the poor guy was good deep down, just life kept shitting on him over and over again… Cannot tell you how excited I am for you to see the next two episodes, best of the season those are!

This OP is painfully bad for this arc…like I actually like the opening both musically and visually but it's completely ruined by its horrible placement during this arc. A super dark and sinister villain OP for this part of the season would have been amazing, only featuring the Shigaraki crew and some of the prominent Meta Liberation Army members. At least the ED is still really good.

"Show the world that everyone is a hero and at the same time no one is" Reminds me of Syndrome from The Incredibles

Matthew Richson

I guess they didn’t have it in the tank to make a completely new opening. NTM, how this arc was generally less popular over there, that was probably a factor too. The lyrics make a good bit of sense to me, “Everything will be alright”. That juxtaposition of what we manga readers know is coming…

Next Episode is my favorite episode to the entire season. Can't wait for Friday :)

So there are quirk bans. We saw what said bans can do to a person like Gentle. It's basically understood to use your quirk in public especially when it's interacting with others like a fight or even to try to save others is a nono. Only heros are allowed free quirk use. It's why deku and the gang should've been in deep trouble at least twice and were lucky. A hero license gives you the ability to use your quirk anywhere unlike a normal citizen who basically uses it at home and rarely in public since they also don't receive training on how to use it mistakes can happen and if they happen to be quirk related It's worse. So most just don't use them crazily out in public. Hence the "peace" All Might created that Shigiraki mentioned how all yhe people in the mall likely have some form of power with quiet afew being deadly enough to just rampage. But people feel safe and not needed to use quirks. Example Dekus mom gas a quick but quirks of non heros are such a afterthough they go into disuse in the series. She can float things ro her and iirc did it once so far to show a doctor.

I thought it was something along the lines of... you can't use it in ways that affect others. With Gentle, he got in trouble cause he got in the way and caused damage. But it seems to be okay as it relates to personal use and if there are low stakes. While imperfect, that seems like a reasonable starting point at least. This also has me thinking now about people who can't turn their quirks off, like Invisible Girl. What happens with people who have a constant type like quirk like that that's actually dangerous... I guess like Eri. That is a lot trickier

I think early bnha socity prolly was like xman when people try to hunt people with powers but that change when a lot of people start to have powers which makes sense

Next episode tho :eyes:

Alex, have you given consideration to watching any of the Star Wars shows? You have said you watched some of Mandalorian, I think going through that, and Boba Fett, would be cool. Just a thought; with you catching up to MHA and Attack on Titan ending.

I think they definitely could have done more or better with the Liberation Army guys, but I feel the parts they do get right with them hit really well, a bit too much of the 'evil' when they're trying to come off as the good guys who defeated the league of villains as non-heroes.

Such an excellent episode and it felt really packed. From the Twice stuff to a bit of Shigaraki then Re-Destro's monologue. Most of this season's eps felt like they were over in seconds but this one felt meaty. lol

I’m late the party but SAD MAN PARADE !!

NitrousOxide19

I think you gotta take into account that we are seeing the story from Deku's POV, which is UA, the most prestigious school of quirks and powers. For the everyday person, quirks are not permitted at all, we see that licenses are required to even use quirks (Office Dog speech if you remember). So I think it kinda makes sense for the normal person to feel oppressed and want to use their powers freely, as it is something natural to them.

Toga: dying Twice: mental breakdown Intro: WHOA WHOA ITS ALRIGHT EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT!!!

It's actually really surprising how many people don't get that the OP isn't literal. You don't say "everything will be alright" when things are actually okay. But everyone seems to miss that.

kingafreund

I think it is interesting that they seem to have struck on gold with the whole Liberation thing. Like, it's a cause that sounds good to everyone; powerful quirks, weak quirks, weird quirks, heroes... People who have to supress their urges like Toga, Heroes that feel stifled by overregulation, people like Nine who think the powerful should be at the top, a lot of people can be united under this banner, which means the system can def be improved if this many people feel like something is wrong. But it feels really empty too, because if you actually made total Liberation the new norm it'd just be anarchy. So yeah, the MLA scares me because of their numbers and power, and because they apparently struck a nerve with people, but they also feel like absolute bogus. I can't connect to their cause at all, which is weird, coz Shigaraki's destroy-everything-because-I-don't-like-it mentality shouldn't be more relatable? Maybe it's the hypocrisy. Anyway, I do appreciate that the LoV actually do feel like a team that cares about each other, it goes a long way in humanizing them. That said, I think Twice is at the heart of it. I don't know if I would buy into it as much if this relatively decent person who was just down on his luck wasn't here.

Muchymozzarella

Okay but... for some reason I LOVE Re-Destro as a character, but even more, I LOVE his background music. They use such unique trumpets (?) for him and the music for him is so memorable. I liked it so much I went searching for his theme when I finished the season.

benj

Same, he grew on me a lot as the arc went along

benj

I think people understand the OP isn't literal...it just sounds really stupid when put right after a very sad or serious scene. The whiplash from sadness and seriousness to "WOAH WOAH ITS ALRIGHT..." is hilariously awful.

FYI, that probably was a Desk and Chair he was sitting on - he turns objects into people

Bdflames

idk if you caught it, but what shigi says when he sees the twice clones, shows how he's grown, go back and rewatch, saying that he cant forgive the MLA for toying with twices emotions and that he'll make them suffer for it, its just more that shows how far he's come as a leader and a comrade for the villains

Silent Shadow

This around the time when I started to appreciate the op. Just seeing the horrible things happening and then breaking to someone saying everything will be fine was hilarious. Especially with the escalating danger from episode to episode. Starts out feeling like they are trying to convince us everything is fine but slowly slips to trying to convince themselves everything is fine.
