TLDR:

- Please recommend shows you would like to watch below in the comments (even if you recommended them to me before)

- It is likely that I will watch the top TWO shows from the resulting poll.

- AOT and Arcane are happening no matter what.

Long version:

Both MHA and Fruits Basket are ending very soon (how did that happen?) and after experimenting with a handful of different ways to do the poll, I've just decided the simplest way is to...

   1) catalog all recommendations here

   2) make a google forms sheet of ALL recommendations

   3) have a preliminary vote

   4) put the top 10 (minimum) to 25 (maximum) highest voted options on a final Patreon poll.

   5) Choose a winner or even two winners.

A few notes about this:

- AOT is gonna happen weekly (time permitting) no matter what so there is no need to have that on the poll.

- Similarly I will watch Arcane no matter what.

- I will also be finishing To Your Eternity as per the "regular" schedule ^^

- Because I am choosing to do AOT and Arcane, and because I don't really have any strong leanings at the moment for what comes next, I think it would be a good idea to choose not just the next show by poll but both of the next shows by poll (I will make this official by the time of the final poll if that is indeed the way to go).

The tentative timeline:

1/15 -  This form closes and the preliminary poll is launched

1/18 - The preliminary poll is closed and the final poll is launched

1/19 - MHA 5x25 reaction (end of MHA)

1/21 - MHA Q&A question form is posted (no video that day)

1/22 - Fruits Basket 3x13 reaction (end of Fruits Basket)

1/23 - Fruits basket Q&A form is posted

1/24 - MHA Q&A

1/25 - Final poll is closed and shows are chosen (no video)

1/26 - Fruits Basket Q&A

1/27 - Day off

1/28 - Day off

1/29 - To Your Eternity

1/30 - Attack on Titan

1/31 - New show 1 begins

2/2 - Arcane begins

After that, Arcane takes about 3 weeks, and new show 2 begins when that is completed.

If I made any mistakes in terms of the schedule I will amend it to reflect that, but that is the rough outline.

And I think that about covers it!

Looking forward to seeing your amazing recommendations in the comments :D

Mob Psycho 100 is my recommendation, it just seems like the perfect show for you, you’ll love all of the characters and themes and lessons it gives, a true 10/10

Muchymozzarella

Tiger and Bunny please!!!!! New season coming soon so it's good timing and it'll be a great thematic replacement for MHA since it was Japan's biggest superhero anime before them.

Muchymozzarella

Also - Princess Tutu. The greatest shoujo anime ever written. Taking no questions.

Haikyuu! So much great development and awesome moments in that show!!

Anonymous

I think you'd really enjoy Vinland Saga! Some really Great characters in that one!

Spizami

Steins;Gate

Mers0n

Demon Slayer, Re: Zero or Jujustsu Kaisan are the obvious choices IMO.

JojoInSpace

I think an Ancient Magus’ Bride reaction would be interesting from you. Especially after seeing your fruits basket reactions.

AryTheDog

definitely Haikyuu!!, it's a Volleyball/sports show but one of the most exciting and personal series i've watched, despite having no interest in volleyball.

Muchymozzarella

Both of my suggestions are short series so it's a good idea to cover them if people want to do long titles after them :) 25ish episodes total for each.

Sam B

Mob Psycho 100 It is 2 seasons, like 24 ep total, and is amazing

William Abbott

Cobrai kai or Mob Psycho 100

I nominate Mob Psycho 100!

Mers0n

Actually Mob Psycho 100 is perfect for your reaction style.

Demon slayer! Demon slayer! Demon slayer! Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!!

Megan

I recommend Violet Evergarden. I’m super excited about Arcane and AOT! Also sad about Fruits Basket ending.

ComicalSkate

Code Geass would be amazing to watch you analyze! The main character has a pretty unique philosophy towards life and its just an incredible show with so many intricately weaving characters and ideologies with just awesome action and story! Code Geass all the way is my vote! EDIT: The Dub is widely regarded as one of the best. Even usual sub-watchers have said to prefer the dub. So no worries about subtitles or anything there, you are in for some amazing voice acting!

Taylor Goff

Steins;Gate. It's a masterpiece of an anime and I think it would be perfect for you as well

Jujutsu kaisen, mob psycho 100 or vinland saga

Erased (it's amazing) and Orange. Both of them are short animes if it helps in any way hahah

I think a show like oregairu would give you a lot to talk about and it would be a good replacement for fruits basket.

Promised Neverland S1 or March Comes in Like a Lion!

Anonymous

Steven Universe! There is so much for you to discuss/dissect, and it is an amazing show. I would love to hear your thoughts on it for sure

NitrousOxide19

Mob psycho (dub is great) steins;gate (dub is perfect, it’s only 20 something eps and a few ovas, amazing story and themes) and Vivy fluorite eyes song (some great themes and amazing visuals and score, only 20 something episodes and it’s complete). These would be my top3 recommendations!

RationallySassy

Do we have a limit on how many to recommend? If not some animated ideas: - Death Note (Dub is good) - The Promised Neverland (season 1) - The Devil is a Part-Timer (Dub is funny) - Mob Psycho 100 (Dub is fun) - Gravity Falls - Assassination Classroom - Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

Trencha

Mob Psycho 100, I think you would love it!

RationallySassy

Also can’t remember what you’ve seen already but here’s some non-animated suggestions: - Chernobyl - HEROS - Game of Thrones - WestWorld - Community - Stranger Things - You (on Netflix) - LOST

Anonymous

Also, Carole and Tuesday is amazing. From the creator of Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop.

Anonymous

My top recommendation is still Gravity Falls. It is a kids show, much like avatar, but it is very entertaining and full of mystery and themes you could explore. Also even the episodes that are ‘childish’ are still immensely enjoyable and fun to watch. Amazing characters, amazing plot, definitely one of the best animated shows out there.

NitrousOxide19

If you are looking for Netflix shows I would recommend Money Heist! It’s a great show and super thrilling

Anonymous

He’s already reacted to full metal alchemist brotherhood it’s on patreon right here

Kollie123

Bunny girl senpai is so underrated it’ll never win a poll 😔

Alec Phillips

You should definitely watch Code Geass, it gets my vote.

Mob psycho 100 for sure fits your style and also one of my favorites. Gurren laggan, cautious hero and even fate series would be cool to have you watch

Mob Psycho 100

Donnie Betlem

If you want to try out another super refective slice of life, Oregairu has a really unique pessimistic, pondering, outcast main character. He thinks really deeply and often gets things wrong too, how he does it, makes him so human and realistically jaded. It also opens up lots of conversation, and at one episode in particulair people made like 2000 word essays when it first aired. It's also super funny, with amazing conversations laced with double meanings, has phenomenal romance and drama all the way trough, and it never treats you like you're stupid, with lots of motivations under the surfice, and things that slowly unravel to make it one of the best and most unique showcases human emotion and communication.

Demon Slayer would be great!

Tea-Spin

Mob Psycho 100 please, i think you'll like it. And also recently they announced Season 3 soon. Also March Comes Like a Lion, it's a heartwarming show with a lot life lessons. Highly recommended.

Matthew Richson

Jujutsu Kaisen, Black Lagoon(rather violent this one, fair warning), Assassination Classroom, Code Geass… to name a few anime I know I’ve enjoyed. The dubs for these are all good to great(though JJK’s is rough at the start). As for western… I’m having a hard thinking of something… EDIT: Ah yes, Young Justice would be a good choice, in fact almost anything from DC animation would be worth a look.

Anonymous

Stranger Things

jassihere

Young Justice Steven Universe Euphoria (HBO Max) I heard BEASTARS is really good too

NansLocalBakery

I'd love to see your reaction/analysis to The walking dead. as for anime, I'd love to see a reaction to Naruto

Code Geass and Demon Slayer!

I’d say Haikyuu, Demom Slayer, or Erased

KJ Gaona

Re:Zero doesn't have the same hype as some of these other shows so it probably won't win a poll. Still want to put it out there because it's excellent and there's a good amount of character dissection to do

Joey Healy

I think you’d enjoy Monster. Whole series dubbed/subbed can be found on YouTube.

I don’t think anyone has said Banana Fish yet. Such an incredibly heartbreaking and beautiful show. So much to analyse in it and it’s so criminally underrated. Unfortunately I don’t think it would get the votes compared to newer shows so I’d have to say Jujutsu Kaisen and Tokyo Revengers! As for western shows, Bojack horseman is a must!

TheTrashBandit

Mob Psycho 100 is really good! I think it'll suit your reaction style really well. (i really enjoyed the dub)

Dang sad to see no one has recommended this yet. Unless I missed it but psycho pass would be a good one. Reminds me alot of the movie minority report and would have great discussion points about justice and morality. It is a pretty dark anime. I personally prefer the dub.

Ice

Dr. Stone - great anime about science and humanity. I'm surprised that not many people react to this. Fire Force - if you want something similar to FMAB.

Emma Root

The Good Place, the hype has died down since it ended but I it’s a different sorta show for a reaction and asks questions that could be cool for your reaction style

Baltazar Huerta

Haikyu or jujutsu kaisen I think would be awesome!

Skyler Anderson

Haikyuu 100% it’s such an amazing character driven show and I feel like the people here that have seen it would agree!!!

Jafeth Díaz

Vinland Saga Steins;Gate Beastars Psycho-Pass Violet Evergarden Made in Abyss Some older shows: Monster Hajime No Ippo Serial Experiments Lain

Just remembered another one! I think you’d do a really great analysis on this show: NANA

Woah

Demon Slayer, 86, or Mushoku Tensei.

benj

Love these threads. As someone who pushed Fruits Basket heavy as a recommendation I’m gonna stick with outside chance shows that aren’t just mainstream shounen action. Violet Evergarden, Bunny Girl Senpai, or Oregairu. Looks like A LOT of people want Haikyuu, personally I love that show but its also very long and also really similar to MHA and a lot of other feel good shows, I think it’d be better to branch out first. Also seeing a lot of people specifically recommend dubs for a lot of shows that just simply don’t have good dubs or are just definitely way better in the original version. Like Violet Evergarden for example…thats just simply not a good dub compared to the effort put into the sub. The biggest thing I’m hoping for with upcoming shows is that if its anime they are watched in there original versions.

MrEvers

Adventure Time

Shark-ira

She-ra and the Princesses of Power! (I'll never stop recommending this one lol) Aside from that there's also Infinity Train and if you're still open to live-action series I'd also recommend 3%.

DennisAnimeFan

Fate/Zero would be really awesome I think it'd definitely bring in different kinds of moral/ethical topics that you haven't talked about before. The dub is really good too if you wanna do that.

DennisAnimeFan

I agree but I think he has seen it some years ago already - though I wouldn't say no to a rewatch!

Some shows I think you'll enjoy to analyse The Promised Neverland S1, Erased, Banana Fish, 86, Orange

KuroNekoMataXIII

They're both shorter series, but I would like to recommend Violet Evergarden & Maid in Abyss (which has a 2nd season starting sometime this year). There is also Ouran High School Host Club which is a good one.

Gravity falls

Oooh ive skimmed the comments, and I definitely agree with a few. Hunter x Hunter is the best shounen series to date [probably because its a deconstruction of said genre and counters a lot of common holes and tropes within it in extremely fascinating ways], the only issue when it comes to reactions to that show is how long it is [148 eps]. March Comes in Like a Lion would be a FANTASTIC replacement for Fruits Basket. It's not really plot heavy, it's just a show about ppl overcoming their trauma and forming genuine human connections, it's beautiful. Code Geass is another pillar in the community, and you would have a lot of fun with it. It gets deep into societal structures and how they affect the common folk, which is v interesting. Mob psycho 100 is pretty cool, but as a sub person, I wouldn't force myself to watch the dubbed version of that show specifically. I'm just throwing this out here so that it may be on other polls, even though I know it's not going to win, Nana changed my life and it's truly spectacular and would fit into the themes of fruba

Anonymous

I definitely second Psycho Pass and I would also like to put forward, The Disastrous Life of Saiki.K I would like to make a request. Of course it's your choice and your channel. So how you choose to watch is your choice. I was just wondering if you would consider doing the Eng Dub version. I know and I agree the Sub is always the more faithful. The OG voice actors should be honoured and admired for their skill. So no disrespect there. Personally due to vision issues (long story) I can't watch Subs and so my love of anime and particularly the aforementioned shows is with the Eng Dub. Also it works in the screen in screen reaction scenario. I understand I may have just pissed off a lot of your viewers. Sorry guys. I just wanted to see if you would be open to it. However I will respect your choice either way. Thanks for making such great content.

Mac Muscara

RWBY will always be my top suggestion

Sandy Gamboa

Steven Universe for sure! Also I don't know how into the MCU you are, I would love to see you react to basically all the Disney+ MCU shows like WandaVision and Loki, ect. As for anime, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball abridged (it covers all of dragon ball z in a hilarious way without all the terrible filler) or just Dragon Ball Z if you hate yourself lol, and Dragon Ball Super. If you haven't seen those you should, it's basically where most Shonen anime comes from, we wouldn't have shows like MHA without it.

Anonymous

Erased, terror in resonance, hunter x hunter, Tokyo Ghoul, haikyuu!!

ComicalSkate

I second this. My top two pics would have to be Code Geass and The Good Place.

Geneva The Weeba

Assassination Classroom! (Dub or sub, 2 seasons, and the WHOLE story is finished and adapted) The Good Place for live action/western, also fully finished

Anonymous

Haikyuu!! absolutely, also Beastars and DEFINITELY March Comes in Like a Lion if you want a really good replacement for Fruits Basket!!

Biganon

I would definitly recommend Hunter x Hunter, it is quite long but it is one of the best with very likable characters. I've read some recommend Erased too, i will also stand for that. Another great anime would be Vinland saga, very good!

Lars Leemans

I will never leave an opportunity to recommended 're:zero staring life in another world' the characters and world are so complex in a way i'm sure you'd love to analyse. Kaguya-sama love is war is bonkers crazy in all the right ways, and i've been kinda obsessed with 'ranking of kings recently, it's great. Bonus recommendations: infinity train (again) and 'critical role: legends of vox machina' promises to be great fun and starts airing at the end of this month.

" march comes in like a lion " PLEASE 🥺 you will love it im sure of it

William Abbott

Vikings. In my top 3 favorite live action shows.

If you like Fruits Basket, I can’t think of a more wholesome anime than Boku no Pico. On a more serious note, anime I would recommend would be: Devil is a Part Timer (Satan flips burgers, and pinches pennies to survive) Oregairu (Romance) Assassination Classroom (Octopus man teaches class math and science, and how to kill. Dr. Stone (Mans trying to rebuilding civilization from scratch, only using his knowledge of science) Kaguya-Sama (Romance, but narrator is best girl) Tokyo Revengers (Middle school gang wars, traveling through timelines (I know this turns some people off) I assume Goodwin is going to look up brief summaries while he looks the the different options, but let me know if I should remove the summaries. I don’t think they’re spoilers and most of them are covered in the first episode. For anime that are more niche, but I enjoyed nonetheless: Bakuman (About a manga artist and author duo who make their way up the industry) Hikaru no Go (I guess since chess is defined as a sport, this would be as well. It’s about Go, the board game with the black and white stones. If you want something to read, go read Goodnight Punpun but just know that it’s pretty dark. It focuses a lot on dysfunctional families, depression, struggle, and love.

Elise

Banana Fish (beautiful story), Gravity Falls, Assassination Classroom, Mob Psycho 100(recommend dub) , Hunter Hunter, Jujustu Kaisen, Violet Evergarden, Castelvania, Demon Slayer, Code Geass(in order of what I'd like to see)

RubyDian

- Baccano! Very tightly written, 13-episode series that takes place in various points of time in America, tho notably Prohibition Era. - The Promised Neverland

Demon slayer!!!! Amazing fitings scenes and beautiful relationships 🥰 Also if you want to add a little of deep stuff I think GIVEN is an amazing anime to replace fruits basket, touches themes as depresion, lost of motivation, sexuality discovery, self regret, etc. Its a bl (boys love) story, but its a very deep and emotional raid. I love it. I also love Yuri on Ice!! Its an sport anime, and it slso tocuhes deep stuff, again its a BL, but its an emotional raid as well, and its about artistic roller skating. 😊

Anonymous

Some that I think are good, in no particular order: - Demon Slayer - Akame ga Kill - Fate/Zero - Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works - Fate/Apocrypha - Charlotte - Log Horizon - Psycho Pass - Hunter X Hunter - Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash (Hai to Gensou no Grimgar) - Berserk (1997) Also I don't know if live-action shows are up for consideration, but I think a reaction series to Battlestar Galactica (2003) would be cool

Herman

I feel like you (and me, very much me) would like Assassination Classroom, so I’ll suggest that one

Aura Y

Mob Psycho 100 and Haikyuu are being recommended a lot, but I think they are truly solid shows and I think they'll really fit the commentary style. But for a dark-horse recommendation: OddTaxi could be good too. Only 13 episodes, so could be good for people who want to get a poll again.

benj

I think someone likes Fate lol, also please tell me you're recommending the 90's Beserk and not the new CGI adaptation.

Anonymous

I recommend the Anime "Bleach".

Anonymous

Vinland Saga would be my recommendation. It's an anime set during the Viking period and for what is worth, the historical accuracy is really good. The author clearly studied this period of History well before writting. Also the story is mostly character-driven (which I see is something you seem to enjoy a lot) and the conflict between the protagonist & antagonist is superb. Some of the themes are quite similar to AoT, particularly the ones related to childhood and how your enviroment can deeply affect you

Jabin (Aelic)

It would be cool to see hunter x hunter on here, not sure if you were already planning on watching it or not.

benj

Re:Zero is really popular and mainstream tho, ive seen a lot of ppl mention it in this thread so i think it could do well

benj

Now this is some good taste right here. More Shoujo on the Goodwin channel please, FruBa was just the beginning PogU

benj

watched episode 1 of Banana Fish a couple days ago and wasn't entirely impressed but I'm sure it gets better. what episode should I keep watching too if u think someone happens that'll hook me in for the show.

benj

Penguindrum!!!! I didn't think I'd see that get a shoutout here. What a show.

Mob psycho 100- (would love to hear your thoughts on Reigen lol) Banana Fish- (dark themes and a wonderful story that I would also love to hear your thoughts on)

blu_regards

I haven't followed your reactions since about mid S3 of MHA because I didn't think I would personally find your commentary with the what I know happens in the story from there to be that interesting to me. And I tried following FB but it just didn't hold me. But I've stay on the patreon because I do really enjoy your commentary and wanted to keep supporting. Anyway, it would be cool so see a shorter show like Gurren Lagann or Mob Psycho 100. P.S. - Gurren Lagann is one of those shows where the dub is better than the sub, IMO

R. Lewis

With the final arc coming out soon, I'd recommend Bleach, though it is VERY long. Code Geass is a really good one with lots of good moral questions. And I'll recommend it every time because it's my favorite anime alongside FMA, I would LOVE to see you react to Eureka Seven. Great story, amazing themes, and beautiful animation.

Jenny bete

DEFINITELY hunter x hunter, it's the anime that got me into anime! The characters are amazing, the story is well done, the power system is one of the most well thought out of all shonen anime and it has the perfect mixture of humour and depth. I would love to see you react to it, especially because in the poll you did before starting mha, hxh was second place! It is a great follow up to mha!

Anonymous

Violet Evergarden or Kaguya-sama: love is war or Hyouka

Anonymous

Demon Slayer is super hyped these days, so I'm totally expecting that to show up in the polls. But I'd like to recommend some more thought provoking shows with beautiful animation. And my two favorites for this are... -Violet Evergarden -Death Parade Both I'd recommend in dub, as I believe they do just as well as the sub version. (Of course I may be a little biased lol). But I rarely see dub reactors. So it's nice to see someone who does watch dub when it actually is a good one.

benj

YOOO you are by far the person with the best taste in this entire thread. All 3 of these shows are 10/10 and some of my favorite of all time. It would unreal if Goodwin reacted to any of these buts its highly unlikely...not gonna beat Haikyuu, Demon Slayer, or JJK tho :(

Anonymous

Vinland Saga, Hunter X Hunter, Mob Psycho, Demon Slayer, Death Note, RE:Zero are all strong choices

Yourboy Gman

Adventure Time is an amazing show that I recomend.

Purple Dawn

Inuyasha, Oban Star Racers, and Adventure Time.

Jo

He's already seen Death Note before

cheera

Golden Kamuy, Re:Zero

benj

Don't worry chief, seems like this channel has largely turned into a Dub channel where the community majority wants english dubs and Goodwin also prefers to do dubs so you aren't gonna get any hate here for that opinion. I for one really dislike dubs 99% of the time and think they are significantly worse for a multitude of reasons, the biggest being overall skill in acting/expressing emotion, but I also totally understand why people watch dubs. There really isn't any reason to watch a dub other than if you are visually impaired. I hope dubs keep getting better and better for people like you tho! You deserve it.

raesh

Haikyu!!

Jake White

Yeah definitely just your bias, my dude lmao. There are plenty of genuinely great dubs. Just cause you prefer subs doesn’t mean there aren’t lol

Jo

Hunter x Hunter (2011) would be absolutely amazing, it's one of my favourite shows of all time and features some of my favourite characters and relationships. But it's a big commitment - 148 episodes lol. The dub is pretty good, it's decent, but I wouldn't say it holds a candle to the sub and some things get a lil lost in translation. Definitely prefer sub, but if you did it and chose dub, it's not as if I wouldn't watch it.

PKKite

Yu yu Hakusho, Code Geauss, Trigun, and Cowboy Bevop. All 4 are classics each easy to have discussions on about human nature, morality, and other subjects. All 4 have fantastic dubs some of the best even considered better than sub by portions of the community with all star leads.

Clément

I still hope to see you watch Steins Gate. It's a great show (of course) with a lot to discuss about. Maybe one day : )

Chris

I highly recommend March Comes in Like a Lion, The Good Place, and Cobra Kai!

Anya Mcghee

Welcome to Demon School Iruma.

Athena

Assassination Classroom aka Ass Class, the dub is actually good. Gurren Lagann, the dub is good too! Your Lie in April is such a classic. Ouran High School Host Club because I think you'll like the range of characters and their different motivations. Rascal Does not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai for the two main character's chemistry. And finally a few of the bigger names I suggest are Haikyuu and Demon Slayer :)

benj

we need goodwin reaction to Chika dance ASAP...than I can finally die happy.

Athena

Tokyo Revengers for more of Uo-chan's backstory lol

Athena

Promised Neverland season 1 only. They only made the one season which is unfortunate.

Anonymous

I'd still recommend Hunter x Hunter! It's a great show with a lot to think about

Anonymous

There are a lot of good recommendations on here! To add a new one to the mix, I’d like to recommend Yuri on Ice! It’s only 12 eps, but it’s so good-feeling and sweet.

TheGinger

Gonna go with a sleeper recommendation from last year in the form of Sonny boy. Being a anime original by studio madhouse it caught my early and kept me engaged with it's world of mystery and trying to understand the deeper meaning in every interaction. The director for the series also caught my eye, as he has worked on several notable anime which are praised for their artistic styles. TL:DR, Sonny boy look really cool and have good director. The show is pretty short, coming in at only 12 episodes.

A little list with 1 sentence summaries, tried to make it varied. Steins;Gate: Psychological time travel show with great comedy Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Shounen show with hype even beyond MHA's, one of the few shows where the dub is objectively as good as the sub (just like FMA:B's dub) Clannad + Clannad After Story: Slice of life of regular high school students, this show will tear your heart apart Anohana: Same as Clannad (kinda), but shorter Death Note: Wouldn't be surprised if you've seen this NHK ni Youkoso! : Story of a shut in becoming forcibly socialized by a girl who has her own problems, I doubt this will make it through it's not popular enough :( Horimiya: One of the best modern romance anime imo Haikyuu!! : One of the best modern sports anime K-On! : Cute girls doing cute things, another slice of life of high school girls forming a band, this one is very feels good all the time

Young Justice for sure would be the kind of show you’d love.

Vinland Saga, Haikyuu, and Jujutsu Kaisen

K-On! Goodwin reaction series would be impossible to surpass. Humanity would peak at that very moment. Literally two seasons of cute girls drinking tea in the clubroom together, and its one of my favorite shows of all time, its pure genius. A coming of age story of true depth and quality, K-On! is the staple masterpiece of the slice of life genre and is also largely responsible for popularizing moe-type shows.

I’ve seen several people suggest these and I would like to second them because they’re all solid picks. Steins;Gate The Good Place Rascal Does Not Dream… Vinland Saga Made In Abyss And here are a few wild cards for you O Maidens in your Savage Season Madoka Magica School-Live! Grand Blue Dreaming The Monogatori Series Welcome to the NHK

Steve.

I emphatically recommend Re:Zero (subbed version). It has two seasons of about 25 eps each the moment. The story isn’t over but the two season arc here is wrapped up pretty nicely. I would like to see you react as there is a lot of string themes to chew on like in AoT. In fact it’s my second favorite show after AoT for the quality writing.

Anonymous

Berserk 1997 - 25 episodes and Erwin. Characters who could rival Erwin and maybe join that line of favorite characters. Plus one of the best opening song theme's ever, no questions asked. Good song and ERwin, how could you get more than that ? More seriously, it's not really a hero's journey and not a slice of life either, more like finding meaning and purpose in life and about struggling through life from what I remember. Haven't seen it in a while and looking forward to rewatch it here for good memories

Ardawen

If I look at the type of reactions you do, and where you like to latch on when you start talking, i really think that Haikyuu would be great !

Steins Gate RWBY The former because I think its themes and characters are super fun and you'd enjoy them. The latter is because I think it's a good fit to fill the space of MHA, as they have a lot of similar themes.

If you're looking for some non-anime shows, the bests ones I can recommend are Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, and Over the Garden Wall. I would also like to see Infinity Train finished. I think these shows would definitely open up great conversations.

Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho, or Cobra Kai. The last of those three, in particular, is riding a huge hype wave right now.

Demon Slayer definitely, Assassination Classroom is one with surprisingly great messages, Sword Art Online, Overlord, and Bleach is coming back for its final arc October 2022 so it might be worth starting if you haven't seen it. 💙

Would loooove mob psyco 100, but they announced 3rd (read 'final') season this year and the month is unknown. Could be summer could be Dec, lol. The whole fandom got crazy about the anime coming back, but awaiting more updates sooner or later ;) saw march comes in like a lion, which was so catarsic for me, big thumbs up (but not sure how it fits for reaction content), + cowboy bebop and psycho pass

BirthdayParty

Super recommend March Comes In Like A Lion as a replacement for Fruits Basket. It's a great story about overcoming hardships and despair, little by little, everyday. Your analogy with the hole Yuki dug himself out of reminded me of the show, and I'd think you'd really enjoy it.

Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer

Feral Riot

I think you would totally love Vinland Saga, the characters are well written, the show is based on historical events and you can notice how much research the author made to portrait the landscapes, weapons, clothes, etc. There is also a critique to the glorification of war by Viking's way of living, and you will totally love the deuteragonist.

Feral Riot

Also Shaman King!! It was a breaking mold show in their time, with a totally unexpected main character from a shonen manga in the 90s

Please PLEASE keep going with Jujutsu Kaisen! It has just the one 24 episodes season and is fantastic! Crowned best anime of 2020 at the anime awards! Other than that, I do wish Hunter x Hunter could make it, 150 episodes seems dreading, but it is all so excellent that I have probably seen it 10 times.

Nox

So many new show recommendations! I'll give a few of my own which some have probably already been recommended: Jujutsu Kaisen is really good! I've seen a few recommendations for that, so I'll second it. Haikyuu!! as well. Even though its a sports anime, it's super fun to watch and I think you'll enjoy all the interpersonal relationships between the characters. Baccano is one I've requested from other reactors before. It's rare that it ever gets reacted to since it is an older, less popular show. It can get confusing, especially in the beginning, but you break down things that happen in shows so well that I'd especially love to see your opinions on the characters and the plotline and all that! Hunter x Hunter is great for a super long show. I still have yet to finish it myself but I'm almost there. And this last one is definitely not going to be a popular opinion, but I'm just going to throw out Fairy Tail and Edens Zero as well. Fairy Tail has a large number of haters due to its use of the power of friendship trope but it's an enjoyable watch nonetheless and the plotline is actually pretty good for a super long (300+ eps) show. Its sister show is Edens Zero, made by the same creator but with mostly different characters in a different universe with a different plotline. Though there are several callbacks to FT in EZ so I'd recommend watching at least a little of FT to get the little surprises that are thrown in!

MikeWest

How are you possibly going to calculate this? XD Love to see the community exploding tho. I saw "The Boys" a few times in here, and can't remember if you've already watched it, but if not, it fits the channel like a glove imo. I saw Dororo once in here, and agree. Dororo was my first anime, and it's still in my top 5. Can't put my finger on why, but a good fit here imo. And then HxH, Mob Psycho, and JJK just seem like obvious favorites after a quick scroll through. Godspeed Goodwin

Justice Hastings

Steins;gate is all I’ve ever really wanted you to react to.

Revin MacGrath

Damn I came too late. Well I guess I'll still try to recommend Fairy Tail. Its funny, emotional, great fights, great story, great characters.

Anonymous

I could make a massive list but will request Steins;Gate! Always a great reaction :)

Crystalrose

Cobra Kai hehe (i recommend seeing the karate kid though if you haven't).

Francesca White

I'm not sure if it's on the table since you already did the one reaction, but I'd love Infinity Train!

Anonymous

I would highly recommend Violet Evergarden. It is an immensely touching, tragic emotional rollercoaster of a tale that I am sure you would enjoy if you haven't seen it already. I'd really love to hear your insights. The storytelling and character development is pretty top tier. One of my personal favorites.

benj

Bunny Girl Senpai, Hyouka, and K-On! Great list for those 3 alone. Imagine Goodwin reacting to Tea time with the Light music club lmao would be perfection.

Hunter x Hunter (2011 Version), Demon Slayer and Haikyuu are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Anonymous

There are tons of things I would love to hear your reactin too! Most of them havnen't changed since your last pool! But here are my top three for rewatching and for Newer Shows! Not in any particular order! New Shows- 1) Cobra Kai/The Karate Kid 2) Persona 5: The Animation (Not as good as the game but I doubt you have 100+Hours to play it) 3)Hajime no ippo (Older school Anime But can be watched on Crunchy roll My Shonen Recomendation) Also a sports anime about Boxing! Older Shows-Rewatchs! 1)Trigun!!!!!!! I know you said you have seen this show but would love to see your rewatch reactions to it and thoughts about it on a second viewing see if its themes still hold up 2)Death Note- Same thing I would love to see your interpretations of Kira and famous L fight 3)CowBoy Bebop-Would love to see your watch a more character study anime that deal with themes about yourselves rather than major world changing issues of right and wrong and this anime kinda brings that down to just how you yourself deal with situations on a more normalcy. Anime Movie Recomendations- 1)Your name!! You simply have to watch this movie Its more of a romantic anime movie but still a great watch! 2)A silent Voice- This would be number 1 if i wasn't a bit biased but this would do wonders for your channel as it deals with Bulllying and redemption!

Daniel Cunningham

Id love to see you react to Assassination Classroom. The relationships built in that show are unique and im curious to hear your thoughts~

LudicrouslyLuke

What’s coming to mind: - Demon Slayer (I feel like you’d have a lot of insightful thoughts on that one) - Cobra Kai (has some of the best character development/character focused storytelling within a live action tv show that I have seen in a long time) - The Walking Dead (I feel like you’d engage with the characters very well in this as well) - Aggretsuko (A comedy slice of life anime with good characters and a lot of heart) - The Disastrous Life of Saiki K (I’m biased towards this one as one of my favorite animes, but it’s truly the funniest show I’ve seen in a while and it would be a good break in term of tone if your looking for something more lighthearted) - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Again, maybe my personal preference, but this is my favorite tv show of all time so I’m always gonna try and recommend it lol) - If you are up to it, you show def do the MCU as a whole, including the movies and tv shows. I feel like that’s a very popular trend going around on YouTube in general when it comes to reaction channels as well as I’m obsessed with the MCU so I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts and insight on it! :) - Any other anime suggested I’m down for because then it gives me an excuse to binge watch the episodes before you get to react to it ^_^

Non- anime: Euphoria, Money Heist, The Good Place, The boys anime: Banana Fish, Tokyo Ghoul, steins gate, hunterxhunter, bleach, demon slayer, cowboy bebop honestly I’m just down to watch something new so whatever you choose I shall watch alongside :)

Vinland Saga. It's an anime that stays with you for a long time after you finish it.

Cole Hoffman

Gravity Falls, Assassination Classroom and Castlevania are all really high on my list. I would also love to see you react to some of the animated Star Wars shows. You don't even really have to know much of the movies if you haven't seen them, or it's been a while. Start with The Clone Wars. It starts off a bit slow, and the stories are kinda segmented, but by the end of season 2, it gets so good, and there's 7 seasons total. And the vast majority is so fun to watch. There are some really interesting themes that I would love to hear your thoughts on. And another animated show that's also very good after that is Star Wars Rebels. I know Star Wars might not be in the anime circle you usually watch, but I genuinely think you would love Clone Wars and Rebels. And you could watch the main movies on your own time (or make reactions to them if you want), just to keep up on the main story points.

Okay, so I have a couple recommendations. My number one recommendation is a series called ReLIFE* I enjoy the subjects and mature way of handling of real life issues without making light of it. Another recommendation I have is Durarara!! It's a series I struggle to explain, but is definitely something I'd recommend regardless. And my last recommendation would be Code Geass or Death Note because of the intellectual fights the MCs have with their antagonists are done in exciting ways and makes strategy exciting to witness. *While I enjoyed and recommend the anime, I highly urge you to check out the manga as well. And if you enjoy it, I'd love for you to make a video on it discussing your thoughts.

Vinland Saga and Mob Psycho are both masterpieces in story and art, I'd love to see your reaction to either or both!

Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Castlevania, The Boys.

Angels of Death is really good, the characters are super interesting. If you've already seen that then 91 days is amazing, its illegally underrated- I see no one talking about it, but it's amazing. Some of the animes i love and think it would be good to react: - Hunter x Hunter - I think hxh is perfect for the bnha spot, is my favorite shounen and it has more than just cool fights. - Made in Abyss - It has amazing visuals and score, and also have a fun and complex world. - Pyscho-Pass - Dunno if you like sci-fi but is a really good anime on a near future, i think would be fun to discuss this look on a possible future socity. - Madoka Magica - i doubt you didnt get spoiled on nothing on this anime, but if you dont is good to go as blind as possible! - Berserker (1997) - berserker has one of the best storys i ever seen, even tho the manga is better the animation is fun to watch as well, if you do this one i recommend watching the 3rd movie after to have more context on the ending, - Higurashi no naku koro ni - Is my favorite anime series, has a bit of gore a bit of slice of life, but i love this anime! - Re:zero - is my favorite isekai, since you seen to like evangelion i think you have a good time with this one, the MC isnt overpower or something like that, he is just a human with flaws and wrong decisions on life, is pretty good. I hope i didnt get overboard but there is a lot more animes that i would suggest but maybe next time, in the end i hope the series that win would be a fun ride for ya! - Any other anime suggested I’m down for because then it gives me an excuse to binge watch the episodes before you get to react to it ^_^

Going for a complete longshot here, but Shinsekai Yori is a fantastic show that lets you explore a lot of complex themes. I think it would fit your style really well.

Nox

I hope you end up seeing this comment (as well as my other one lol) out of the hundreds that are posted in here, but after scrolling through the comments I've seen lots of recommendations of a show called One Piece. Unfortunately, I'm here to actually advise AGAINST reacting to One Piece. Not because I think it's a bad show (personally not my cup of tea plus its entirely too long at this point for me, but to each their own), but because of the issues other creators have had with it. You've already run into issues with copyright on Fruits Basket and if you thought that was bad, One Piece will probably be worse. So if only for that (and the fact that OP is like 1000 long and still going so you'll be watching it for the rest of eternity) I would discourage you from reacting to it on your channel. If you want to watch it on your free time, though, that's entirely up to you! I just don't think it's a show that would do good for the channel in terms of copyright.

Almost 400 comments...I'll add some shows I haven't seen on here yet. Idc if you add all these or not. Hibike! Euphonium - My fav show of all time, made by KyoAni, same studio as Violet Evergarden and A Silent Voice, GOATED studio. Same Director, Naoko Yamada, as A Silent Voice and K On!. Angel Beats - Short iconic anime with real themes and under rated storytelling skill. Mostly just extremely entertaining and popular for good reason. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Another iconic comedy, one of the most influential anime of all time, Evangelion levels of influence on the anime industry, created whole new genre of crazy sci fi twists on a a-typical slice of life high school setting. Another KyoAni Classic as well. A Place Further than the Universe - One of my favorite shows ever, 10/10 for sure, 13 episodes really short, cute girls take trips with each other and its some of the most meaningful shit ive ever seen. Don't wanna spoil what the overarching theme is or the plot cause its fun not knowing. Toradora! - Another all time classic RomCom, not perfect in its story or "deeper" themes, nor its complexity, but its suprisingly still feels very real and ambiguous with its characters which I love. Its also hilarious.

Karsten Hase

Demon Slayer-Duhh.. Or maybe That time i got Reincarnated as a slime, i think that one does the overpowered hero verry good ^^ Seven deadly Sins is also something thats always nice to see reactors do ; ) Or One piece but THATS a long term commitement xD

Violet Evergarden is still my top recommendation. Otherwise, Saga of Tanya the Evil is another good one that raises some moral and philosophical issues.

Can i suggest no abridged anything? shows that aren't anime are fine but abridged? that's a bit too much especially if he's never watched the original of it

UndeadDesk

Haikyu - would love to see your reaction to each character and their journey. Its a very good sports anime that has amazing character growth

Odd Taxi

benj

ay yo animated profile pic??? how does one get that sir

LOL Food Wars I can't even imagine! I'm rewatching that as my bedtime show right now *giggles*

Silent Shadow

Natsume’s book of friends. It is incredibly similar to fruits basket in tone despite not being partly a romantic comedy. Just with the trauma and the found family and the spirit stuff. It definitely leans more into the spirit stuff as the main character can see yokai.

Haikyu!! and Banana Fish!

Kamolak

many watched the abridged having never watched the original series and some people who have watched the original prefer the abridged as the main way to watch the series.

Brimmy

and has like 6 or 7 seasons XD so the happy, sad, depressed fun times last \much much longer\

Jupiterninja

I believe you've already seen DBZ, so DBZ abridged would be hilarious! The first 10 episodes haven't aged great, but it really picks up after that

I think you'd enjoy watching vinland saga and the promised neverland

Merfhew

I made my choices based on what I think you'd enjoy watching, as opposed to what's newest or most popular (with 2 or 3 exceptions), so I'm guessing most of these won't stand a chance.  If anyone is looking for a new show to watch, these are all worth checking out. - From the New World (Shin Sekai Yori) [25 episodes] - Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World [50 episodes, 1 OVA, 1 movie, 50 shorts] - Texhnolyze [22 episodes] - Serial Experiments Lain [13 episodes] - Eureka Seven [50 episodes; don't bother with the sequel] - Gravity Falls [40 episodes, 1 special, 50+ shorts] - Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song [13 episodes, 1 recap special] - Monster [74 episodes] - Parasyte -the maxim- [24 episodes] - 91 Days [12 episodes, 1 OVA] - Natsume's Book of Friends [74 episodes, 6 OVAs, 2 movies]

A few others mentioned it already, but Psycho-Pass is great as well.

Assassination Classroom is a must!!! and Jujutsu Kaisen!

KTok

RWBY is a great show by Rooster Teeth I think you would really love and there’s so many themes you would definitely have a lot to talk about. The animation is basic in the beginning (I still love it though) and is still a great legacy of Monty Oum but evolves over time and episodes are only a few minutes long for the first couple seasons. It’s not a complete show though. Once you get to Vol 8 you’ll be caught up with the live show

Mob Psycho 100 (third season comes out soon so it’s relevant for YouTube!), Aggretsuko, Assassination Classroom, Monster, or Parasyte come to mind

👁️👄👁️ me waiting for voting form to drop

Oh wow! eager for Arcane, came out of nowhere for me, and became my favorite show of 2021. I’m gonna throw “Parasyte” in as a suggestion, decided to watch it last year for Halloween after a suggestion from a friend and really enjoyed it.

Re:Zero

Kamolak

man.. surprised at which shows people like here, some of those wouldnt be at my top for sure.

Kamolak

jjk, squid game, wandavision, adventure time, black clover wouldn't be near my top at all, same with a few of the anime series (which i haven't watched) but still seem not interesting to get into to me (Your Lie in april, violet evergarden, clannad, ouran highschool, madoka, etc) My preferred poll placement: 1. Mob psycho 100 2. One Punch Man 3. The Boys 4. Hunter x Hunter 5. Assassination Classroom 6. Psychopass 7. Tokyo Ghoul 8. Welcome to the NHK 9. Inuyashiki 10. Kill La Kill 11. Akame Ga Kill 12. Bakuman 13. Re: Zero 14. No game no life 15. Megalobox/Hajime no Ippo/Grappler Baki (probably a couple I would replace but can't remember which atm I think they're not voted high enough on the poll to see)

benj

I agree with all the shows you wouldnt put near the top other than JJK...jjk is easily my favorite new show out right now and the most promising shounen in a long time. for me its pure quality. you should def check out violet evergarden tho...the animation is truly breathtaking but if you dont like melodrama than its probably not for you.

Shawn Brink

I would say the exact same about your list but I only like maybe 3 animated shows. The Boys is so woke compared to the comic. You can read it for free on YouTube. It is almost as if taste is subjective.

Kamolak

and yeah Benj I need to give JJK another chance, I only watched one episode at the time.
