I am here! With some big news.

But before that, I gotta say thank you for all the support on Attack on Titan! The series has been a real blast thanks to you guys, and I can't wait until it picks back up again.

And now the news: I've been talking about Korea for a long time now and while I was initially planning on going in mid-August, there have been certain developments that have made me decide I don't want to wait anymore, and as a result of that I decided to go tomorrow (Friday). This is sort of a longer story which I will go into when I finally get around to making the June Q&A (very soon).

What this means is a long flight and then two weeks of quarantining during which time I will have plenty of time to make videos and start the new show!

About the new show: There are a LOT of shows I want to watch, but no show that stands out as the one obvious choice like with AOT. Partly as a result of that and also because I've heard great things, I've decided to watch the 8 episode show Invincible. During that time I'm gonna figure out if I want to pick another, longer show to watch, or to return to polling (I'm leaning towards the latter).

So what does that mean for the schedule? (Melon Lord and Goodwin Squad tiers)

Friday 7/9 - No video

Saturday 7/10 - No video

Sunday 7/11 - No video (but probably the monthly Q&A and much-needed catchup)

Monday 7/12 - MHA season 2 finale

Tuesday 7/13 - Attack on Titan Q&A (I will post the question form soon)

Wednesday 7/14 - MHA movie

Thursday 7/15 - Invincible episode 1

Friday 7/16 - MHA season 3 begins

Saturday 7/17 - Invincible

 episode 2 & ATLA Finale part 2

Sunday 7/18 - Off

Monday 7/19 - MHA 3x2

Tuesday 7/20 - Invincible episode 3

Etc.

For the Cabbage Corp. and YouTube schedule, there will also be no videos Friday and Saturday and then videos will pick up in the order of early release.

Also, since there are a few shows I want to try out, if I have extra time (which I expect to have being locked in a room for a few weeks) I want to pilot a few of them to see how it feels and what kind of response they get.

So that's the plan for now! Apologies for the long-winded post and for the lapse in the schedule. I will do a more qualitative description of what's going on in the Q&A once I land in Seoul.

Hope you guys have a great weekend and are staying well! See you soon :D

You mean invincible episode 1,2 and 3 on the schedule right?

Soren Monroe

omg ur leaving for Korea today?!? (it’s after midnight where i am so it’s friday here) that’s so exciting!! also i’ve been meaning to suggest, next time you do a poll for a show you should use google forums because you can have unlimited options and you can choose whether or not to show results so if you wanted to disregard the winner of the poll you could lol

Mac Muscara

Have a fun trip!!

Anonymous

I really enjoyed your AOT coverage and excited about your future videos!

agoodwintv

Thank you! There's a chance it might turn into a fun life, at least for a little while.

Aidan Pullen

I saw Soren mention using Google forms for the next poll and I think that could be a great option. It would also maybe help people getting salty/ dramatic when their show doesn't make the cut. But I also know that it may be way more convenient to use the Patreon polling so that works too. I can't wait for whatever you end up going with next, always exciting! 😁

Ice

you should pilot these shows see if you'd like them: Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, Dr. Stone, Fire Force and American animated shows like The Clone Wars, Trollhunters, etc.

veryohno

SUPER EXCITED FOR YOU (and Invincible)

Santos Luna Ramirez

Nice! Hope Demon Slayer is on the poll 🙌🏼✨

Jabin (Aelic)

Wow that's crazy news man, I'm excited to hear what you have to say about it. I recommend watching anthpo's every episode of attack on titan videos, they're hilarious and I think you would appreciate them. Thanks for the great in-depth discussions, have a fulfilling trip! 😀

MikeWest

I feel this move. I’m scheduled for Africa in November but I’m constantly looking into living in east Asia. I’ve become very disillusioned with a lot of American life since I got a taste of the outside, and recent events

minimonie__

So happy for you Alex! Moving to a whole new country will be challenging and also exciting, hope things go well in there. I know the food there is great too 🥳

Xylen

Gratz on the trip (or move)! I like the idea of piloting a few different shows. You can't always get a good sense from the first episode, but it's still more of a taste than a blind poll.

Styx TV

Godspeed

ArmdVctr

Fruits Basket 2019

Dempsy

Omg I'm so excited for invincible. I loved it and it's already been confirmed for a season 2 and 3.

Dempsy

(I dont know if you've already answered this, but I was wondering if you were going to watch the MHA movies. One of them is canon and the other isnt (I think).

ArmdVctr

BTW FMAs Author is working on a new manga!

Stefan

Invincible is fantastic. It's also about as PC as it can get in terms of being inclusive.

Anonymous

it's very different, but i really think giving DARK a watch would be amazing. It's a Sci-Fi Mystery that will literally break your head and i think especially you would absolutely love it. If you can talk about a shoulder pat and it's meaning for 45 minutes, you have to watch this absolute masterpiece.

Fizzle

If you’re open to suggestions, I’d like to mention To Your Eternity here. It came out this spring and is ongoing, but it’s kind of getting over-shadowed by some other really great shows that came out at the same time. It’s a show that’s very much about the human experience, despite having a fantasy set-up, so I think it’s up your alley. But, if you don’t want to put out a series (because it probably won’t pull huge views) you could always just do episode one. It works well as a standalone experience, and people definitely watch reactions of it. Either way, I hope you at least give it a chance in your free time. It’s a great experience that I want more people to have. (Also, disclaimer: It’s a very sad show. I don’t think you cry easy or anything, but I’d feel bad recommending this to anyone without mentioning that.)

Sorin

I would absolutely love to see his reaction to Dark.

Anonymous

Code geass would be so cool for you to rewatch

Anonymous

banana fish would be amazing

Anonymous

Maybeee Consider watching a ROMANCE ANIME 👀👀👀👀 specifically Fruit Basket 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Its a great show and it just ended a week ago and its more than romance Pls consider

Anonymous

Yes I'm sure we were all really worried about that last part

Anonymous

I'm still not over it and I finished it a while ago. I've been looking at getting the manga for a while now

Etsch

I might be the only one but I worry about having both shows be poll choices, the majority is almost always going to select the most popular shounen anime instead of the actual best show, I think I trust your judgement on what show to react to more.

JennyLH

Vinland Saga, To Your Eternity, Banana Fish are all amazing shows with top tier animation that I think would offer lots of things to discuss as well. If you want to go old school though, have you watched Rurouni Kenshin? Or even more of a classic, Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

ComicalSkate

I love that you just decided you couldn't wait and are going to fly to Seoul so suddenly! I can't wait to hear the reasons why you decided to go now! I'm all for it though. You get situated and I can't wait to hear about your life living there, and to start the shows you'll be watching there alongside you. Funny enough my best friend messaged me this morning saying I had to watch Invincible, and looks like that will be with you haha!

Feral Riot

I think you would enjoy Vinland Saga, even if its not to make video reacts. The first season is the prologue of the story, and second season was just announced. Animation is top tier and the characters development? chef kiss. Also best luck on Korea!!

Chris

He's watching the first MHA movie, Two Heroes, on Wednesday, July 14th - He posted that in the schedule above. I presume he'll watch Heroes Rising after S5 due to light spoilers, but he hasn't announced that yet.

Stephen

Invincible is a very good choice.

i_am_jam

YES! I always thought he would love Vinland and seeing the character development. It does look great and it is animated by Wit, the same studio that animated Attack on Titan seasons 1 2 and 3!

Nick

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, if you have time you should definitely do a pilot test of To Your Eternity. I've been watching more of it and I definitely think it'd fit the channel perfectly

Anonymous

HxH Mob Psycho 100 Ergo Proxy

Anonymous

I actually may suggest watching the movie mid season 3 or after it. It has a major spoiler in it for a character in season 3

Amit

Steins Gate!

Jer

I guess depending on your idea of a longer show, you might want to try Hunter x Hunter. It has plenty of interesting themes and philosophical outlooks that aren't too common in its genre. It's super character driven and has the viewer spending a significant amount of time just listening to the thought processes of characters. It has a mix of lighthearted and dark themes, especially depending on the arc.

Polygon

I'm interested in seeing you react to a Seinen anime and not a Shonen so my picks are Fate/Zero, Vinland Saga, or Psycho Pass!

Anonymous

One Anime that DOES NOT GET ENOUGH ATTENTION! That I think would be great for your channel since you like to incorporate Philosophy/humanity studies in your videos is "Trigun" It is an older anime that does not get enough attention that it deserves and it covers topics that I think your audience would like and you yourself would enjoy discussing. It is an older anime with outdating animation but i know you can easily look past that! To give you a taste of one of the many topics it discusses is the idea of "when is it right to kill another person?" And this anime is actually done meaning it has an start and ending. No spin offs, OVA's or waiting for another season. It is completely done, if you need a place to watch it Funimation has it on their website for in both sub and Dub. But just like My Hero Academia this anime's Dub is Easily i argue better than the sub and the voice actor for the main Protagonist is none other than johnny yong bosch his first big role in voice acting and he does a dam good job. Last Note to pitch the show is it is only 26 Episodes so it isn't a short show but it isn't a long one! So it has that sweet spot of being perfect fit until you decided to do another show!

witz

Better Call Saul would be an awesome show I think it's even better than Breaking Bad tbh. Also Euphoria is great and only like 8 episodes.

Aray YIKAMACI

You should definitely watch She-Ra!

Aray YIKAMACI

What do you think Yelena's intentions are? How do you like her character?

benj

Get the pitchforks out if Goodwin doesn't watch Fruits Basket. That show will literally make you a better person just by watching it.

benj

FRUITS BASKET 2019 Sorry did I forget to mention that you should watch Fruits Basket? It's kinda good imo

Itachi The Rouge

I’m glad you’re getting to go back to Korea earlier than planned! Good for you man! I’m sad to wait for more AoT but replacing it with Invincible is perfect! As for shows to pilot and check out, my recommendations would be Demon Slayer, Castlevania, Your Lie in April, Fate/zero and/or Fate/staynight, Naruto and Naruto Shippuden has some fantastic writing, characters, and a damn good Hero’s Journey. I think if you haven’t seen Stranger Things yet then that would be a great non-animated show to throw into the running along with Money Heist (both on Netflix). Love death and Robots is also very intriguing. There’s too many great shows out there that I’d love to see you react to and hear your insight on lol

Skyler Anderson

Always a huge fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and Mob Psycho. I think based on great writing you particularly would love mob psycho.

Anonymous

I think Jujutsu Kaisen would be right up your alley. Also have a good time in Seoul!

Anonymous

Watch March Comes in Like a Lion! It’s very different from AOT and I think it would be a nice refresher after Invincible as well. I would recommend watching the first episode (if you plan on watching the pilots of a bunch of different shows) as the first few minutes are one of my favorite scenes in any anime. It can be very wholesome at times but there are some super intense character moments and just overall great emotional development for the characters, as well as one of the best examples of visual storytelling I’ve seen in the medium.

Aura Y

Best of luck with your travels in Korea! Hope that quarantine flies by and that everyone else is a lovely experience! For possible shows I'd love to see: Mob Psycho, Haikyuu, Bojack Horseman Rewatch or Hunter x Hunter. But honestly I trust your judgement with shows, so I look forward to what's next! Have a well deserved short break!

Anonymous

As someone who recommended Invincible, I couldn't be more stoked. Have an awesome time in Korea my man!

Anonymous

Ever considered reacting to songs? Not just for the upbeat party anthem but songs with deep lyrical messages or potential meanings behind said songs

matt_lot_

Trust me on this, Monster and Vinland sagas are just perfect for you, can’t express how much I’d love to watch that (and HxH ofc but I’m guessing it’ll be in polls)

Anonymous

Please pilot Vinland Saga if you can :)

Anonymous

Also Itaewon Class would be the perfect show for you. Especially since you are in Korea!

Derrick C. Shields

A good holding pattern until another, presumably longer, show is picked. Invincible rules, so 100% excite from me.

Anonymous

Say hello to Korea for me ,exciting man, hope you huh break a leg lol.

Suki

Steins;Gate would be awesome after Invincible! I saw your comment previously that you were interested in it, and it's such an amazing show with an episode count close to an ATLA book (just 25 episodes) Both sub and dub are great, and one of the few anime where I can say personally that I enjoy the dub as much or even better :)

Nick

Hard agree here, I'm not caught up yet but from the episodes I have seen it is really fantastic

Anonymous

Plenty of us suggested that, but his mind is already made, apparently :(

benj

Just watched episode 1 of Invincible…HOLY mother of God.

Anonymous

I think you would enjoy Vinland saga and mob psycho 100.

Anonymous

looks like everyone is roughly saying the same thing! definitely, jujutsu kaisen would be a great one to watch and it's still coming out! i'm reading the manga and it's some top tier stuff. mob psycho 100 is awesome too if you like the creator of one-punch man :)

Rachel Keys

I highly recommend Jujutsu Kaisen or Fruits Basket (2019). Both have life lesson moments and messages I'd love your take on.

ArmdVctr

Is Levi what would be like if Bradley was on our side?

ArmdVctr

Yes if he watched Fruits Basket he'd have watched 2 manga accurate anime reboots!

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

For a series poll id again suggest jujutsu kaisen!

DrowsyCody

Yesssss so glad to have another western animated show back on the roster I live the mix of both styles of animation

Nick

Guessing you saw the end credits scene then lol

Shark-ira

I've been meaning to watch Invincible for the longest time. I guess now is a good time to start. Hopefully She-ra makes it onto the next poll :) Also, I hope everything goes well on your way to Korea!

Anonymous

Mob Psycho has more heart than anything i've seen in years. I think it's perfect for this channel

LudicrouslyLuke

Have you watched Death Note yet? That’s a recommendation if not ^_^

jdthebud

I haven't seen Invincible, but I have heard good things about it. Have a good flight to Seoul, Alex, and I'm looking forward to the new show.

daniel kurtz

I actually haven't watched Invincible, but it looks right up my alley, and I've been meaning to watch it. I guess we'll watch it together 👍

SirLagginton

If you do decide to do a poll, Demon Slayer could be a nice change of pace from the comstant scheming and having to analyze every scene. And the movie just came out so you'll have a nice selection of reactions, not to mention it's just really good in general.

Dominic Caciappo

I would really like the next anime that takes the AOT slot to be a deeper/thoughtful or philosophical anime that can be analyzed well. We got MHA for some good fun times and we get great discussions from it, but it's not the same as AOT, so I really hope all these new hype anime like JJK or Demon Slayer is not the next anime, I enjoy them just as much as everybody else, but I would to play to the strengths and get a really thought provoking anime. Lots of great anime to cover, falling into the yearly hype anime would be a bit disappointing but I am here for whatever (mostly lol)

Dominic Caciappo

Vinland is one of my top choices especially after AOT, if not that Steins;Gate would be a really good medium between the people who want something philosophical heavy, and at the same time still has a goofy vibe for the first bit of it.

benj

Jujustsu Kaisen is incredibly thought provoking and definitely a tier above MHA. JJK has tons of depth and I think you're over rating AOT a lot tbh. Would love to see Goodwin explore the GENIUS that is Todo Aoi.

Dominic Caciappo

Could not have said it better! Although I do rep Vinland saga even though it’s a seasonal anime but you could hardly label it your typical seasonal hype beast, as it flew under the radar quite a bit

Dominic Caciappo

Also I don’t want to sound like I’m hating on jjk I think it’s fun and great I would disagree on being thought provoking, but that’s ok. I of course would like to see him watch jjk but just not now and at the same time with my hero. Also I certainly agree jjk is above those anime for me, I just like to him explore some of the established anime before we jump into seasons hype beasts, jjk is a cut above the rest, it’s just the timing for me

Nick

I agree with this actually. Although I've heard the manga gets much more complex past where the first season ended.

Shawol930

I can't recommend The Good Place and Westworld enough! I love your reactions!!

Musicisum

I'd love to see you react to Mob Psycho 100, someday
