Wow I didn't even know there was an end credits scene. Good to have everyone here keeping you informed! Awesome community.

Without spoiling it, I just want to say that Bakugo's canon hero name (which is revealed pretty far into the manga) is super cool and really clever and is just very him while also sounding super heroic.

Emma Root

And with this episode, more names to memorize! Good Luck!

JennyLH

"They're like 12...11.........8" 🤣😂 They keep getting younger lmao

Bakugou’s rejected hero name sounds silly in English, but in Japanese it’s actually a pretty clever play on his name. Like it’s definitely still over the top, but it’s not as out of nowhere as it sounds in English lol. Just one of those things that gets lost in translation.

Ah I see that Urachako must have been inspired by a certain "hero" who happened to unload multiple gunshots into a fleeing teenager

Ramon Cintron

I think it was a huge miss opportunity for Ochako not to be called Infinity Girl since they all called her that when she sent the ball into infinite orbit

Aura Y

The Hero Formerly Known as "King Explosion Murder" :)

Tbh I think most of these hero names could be better, but I think they fit for being 15 years olds trying to come up with cool names. Somehow "Can't Stop Twinkling" might be the most fitting name haha Iida is going through a tough time. Dealing with the grief of an injured brother and given the burden of his brother's legacy. It really does seem like there is a LOT of pressure put on these young kids aspiring to be heroes.

I love how unimportant this end credits scene is compared to the AOT one you missed lmao. Not that any extra Uraraka scene is bad, of course. The stakes are just so different lol MHA end credit scenes be like: *wholesome, reflection, character development!* meanwhile, AOT end credit scenes: PAIN

This was a fun episode for me considering it reflects my thinking process when I make usernames. I ultimately settled around Th'owl for example because of a culmination of different reasons (not just because I like owls lmao). Unfortunately a lot of this is more emphasized in Japanese and lost in the English dub.

Jujutsu Kaisen end credit scenes be like: *this happens when you do drugs*

it’s like if your middle school email address became your new nickname

Im pretty sure you have already heard this a bunch but im too lazy to check but the creator of MHA takes a lot of inspiration from starwars and thus you will see several nods to the franchise. also i would have chosen Ground Zero as bakugos hero name but i guess that might be too edgy for this show

J Valentine

Damn, you just hit the nail on the head with a certain pop culture comparison this episode.

Ice

Gran Torino is, in fact, based off of Yoda. The author really loves Star Wars.

The Juice is loose!

I feel like you would love a show like March Comes in Like a Lion or something similar. Something more seinen or explicitly about characters facing hardship in real life as we know it. While its great to hear your thoughts on more popular action/shonen oriented shows like AoT and MyHero, the insights you provide from more "people driven" shows like Avatar have always been the primary appeal of your content for me, where the most prominent component is the character growth and interactions. Though the world and action in Avatar is great, what always brings me back to it is the profound understanding the show has for human emotions and personal struggle. I guess it would depend on the next reaction poll, but I hope you'll consider adding it to the list. March/Lion is an excellently written show with deeply sympathetic and nuanced characters. It's really a show about "people" and how they affect one another and add meaning to each other's lives.

This makes it seem like you came up with the name ground zero, it’s actually a very popular name for him in the fandom xD

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

I love how bakugou thought that the "King“ part of King Explosion Murder was the problem and called himself Lord, seems like his insecurities are striking again xD

Nick

I would also add Psycho-Pass to that category of recommendations. Somewhat. It's very dark but tackles many interesting aspects of society through a dystopian lens. Could also be a good bridge between action and thought provoking writing because it does both exceptionally well. I haven't seen march comes in like a lion, what's it about? Oh, and also while I do think AoT is definitely action heavy, it's got a meat of ideas it tackles too, to its credit. Compared to a lot of Shonen it dives deep into complex aspects of humanity, mainly in the last 2 seasons. Personally I really want him to check out To Your Eternity, even though I've only seen the first episode so far

names have to be appealing to different market segments. it's all marketing.

Stefan

Yeah, this is one of the episodes that just doesn't work well in English.

Gabriel Ribeiro

"Just think about Yoda" is oddly fiting, Kohei the author is a Star Wars fans and there are lots of references in my hero. Hosu city where Iida is going is a reference to Hoth, there are lots of other places that are SW's planets as well

benj

Why would people have him watch Dub and first time viewers like me in Dub if entire episodes are belittled by the change in language? I've been seeing in the comments constantly that we are missing out on all this great stuff because of Dub and not sub on multiple episodes, it confuses me as to why it was so popular to recommend the dub for this series.

Kamolak

aheheheh :thumbs_emoji: :thumbs_emoji:

Kamolak

I feel like shoto and tenya both used their own names for very different reasons. Shoto wants to be himself and not his dad, where Tenya doesn't feel he can live up to his brothers name.

Nathan

There will be more to say about Red Riot's hair...

Nathan

There's not a lot of Midnight in this series, but for me this episode really showed that she's more than just eye candy. Put yourself in the situation of a teacher with power of approval over your class's creative choices. If you're too critical, it will shut everyone else down; that's why Midnight goes out of her way to enthusiastically praise everyone's choices...except "Alien Queen" and "King Explosion Murder" which both sound like villains, and "Shoto" which is just his name and not creative. Confidence in your identity is a really important part of being a hero, and building up "Picking your name is super important and you don't want the wrong one!" and then just praising everyone's choices is a really good strategy for building that confidence. It's like in real life, growing up we are taught that it's really important what kind of person we are, but eventually you learn that it's more important that YOU like yourself than that anyone else does.
