Sorry for the huge delay!

J Valentine

Oof the thing I think the fans always try to forget: All the first episodes of the returning seasons are basically recap episodes with a little sprinkle of story.

jdthebud

No worries. Looking forward to watching season 2 again with you.

agoodwintv

They go so hard on the recap. I mean there's a full episode 0 recap and then also a recap in episode 1 ^^

Craig Stanley

I'm so addicted to watching you watch this show and hearing your commentary. ATLA all over again. :D

benj

This arc is SO good. I think you are going to have an absolute blast with it since you loved the in-school student focus during the first season. I love how this show has as much fun as possible with its main cast of teenage hero's, its almost to good to be true for them to have their own Olympics to compete in basically.

Congrats on 20k subs!

Invisible girl is just always invisible… much like the potato in this episode.

Kollie123

It’s funny you mention the show taking it’s time, the anime is 5 seasons in and it’s still their first year of high school lol. You might wanna consider skipping the first episodes of season 3 and 4, they are even worse recaps than this, I don’t think anything in them is canon unlike the later half of this episode with the Uraraka stuff. The season 4 one is especially pretty boring and weird.

Itachi The Rouge

Alex, invisible girl is always invisible. As far as I’m aware she can’t become visible, but I believe her name is Toru

Anonymous

"they will have a dance off" haha yeah that totally wouldn't happen... 🥸

Anonymous

i think Bakugo also missed "quirk counseling" in elementary school lol

Anonymous

You haven't connected the invisible girl with a face because you haven't seen it, she is invisible not invisible at will

Jo

Season 4 recap episode is at least a really good heartfelt story - I'd say it's worth watching. Especially if Alex also watches the movie after Season 3.

Invisible Girl is Invisible Girl

BotheredAsh

Just a reminder, there is a definitive way to tell if someone has a quirk or not. So while some people may have quirks with very specific activations, there are definitely people without quirks as well. On another note, Hagakure, the invisible girl, is just invisible. we don't see her body because she is always invisible.

Cole Hoffman

I love how you keep trying to picture Invisible Girl. She's always invisible. 24/7 (as far as we know, lol). Her name is Toru Hagakure. She is one of the most minor characters in the show. The pink girl is Mina Ashida. I love her, she's awesome. Also kind of a minor character, but still really fun. This first arc for season 2 is really good! One of my personal favorites. You get to see so many different quirks in action, is is all around just pure fun. Also, each "first episode" of a new series is a recap episode. Just so you know for seasons 3-5. The "real" season if you will, starts on the second episode. One last thing (slight spoiler!!!!)............they are still in their first year of school in season 5, lol. with that being said, I think this show has an amazing pace. It bounces back and forth between school, training, exposition, and action very well, in my opinion. I'm excited for you to start this arc!!! It's so epic!

Francesca White

the invisible girl is always invisible! she's not any of the other girls you've seen

Nathan

The sports festival, much like a lot of anime tournament arcs, is a great way to explore each character and introduce you to their problems and motivation. Also, the dance off is not until season 4...

Emma Root

This intro always makes me want to do stretches

Anonymous

The first episode of each season tends to be a combination of filler/recap. I'm not saying you should skip by any means, but just a forewarning.

I think it's interesting that you latched on to Bakugo's motivation for money being the same as Ochaco. While she wants money to secure financial stability for herself and her family, Bakugo seems to identify being the highest paid hero as confirmation of being the strongest hero. Both he and Midorya grew up idolizing All Might, but for different reasons, Bakugo idolized his unbeatable strength and that he never loses to villains even when outnumbered, while Midorya idolizes his ability to save people from any situation. They clip Midorya always watches has no villain, it's just a clip of All Might saving a huge number of people.

agoodwintv

I'm sorry I let you down Chill Potato. The potato tried to escape I guess, but it has returned

Emma Root

Yeah I think in the world the Quirk Doctor has the answers on whether or not you have a quirk, but I think the world leaves room for other possibilities. Either way the thought is interesting. If anyone wants a ya book rec, Not Your Sidekick by C.B. Lee explores this, basically (spoiler) the main character has a power that was so ingrained in her she didn't realize it was a power, and also because the government didn't deem it a special enough power.

agoodwintv

All Might wasn't kidding when he said this wasn't just any high school class... Most eventful school year of all time

agoodwintv

Lots of great points. It is interesting how they can want the same thing but how it can feel so different based on their reasonings. I never thought about the clip, even though we've seen it about 100 times now. Very cool

KJ Gaona

These outros have been slapping! Also, this show is so different to me now. Watching it through the lens of All Might's over-emphasis on holding everything up himself makes every conversation with him and Deli feel so different. Edit: Autocorrect screwed me with Deku's name but I'll leave it as is since he spends half this show lookin' cut up like deli meat.

Jo

Hey Alex, I mentioned in a reply about this, but I'm hoping I can get a direct answer! There's two MHA movies currently out - one is called Two Heroes, and it's chronologically set right after Season 2, but it released after Season 3. And while it is its own self-contained story, it is canon to the series as a whole, so I was wondering if you were planning to watch it at all, and if so, when? I'd recommend waiting until after Season 3 if you do, as the movie does show the appearance of a character that is only revealed in that Season.

agoodwintv

Yeah I've heard good things about the movies so far so safe to say I will watch them! After season 3 it is :D

Nick

That must have been a very terrifying birth for the parents lmao "Miss, I'm afraid there's... what the hell? Where's the baby?" Edit: I mean okay quirks do start manifesting later in life so this joke is kind of broken but still! I stand by it

Anonymous

i'm hoping the announcer at this sports tournament will be just as iconic as the dragon ball one

Anonymous

I dont know if anyone has said this yet, but the invisible girl hasn't been shown at all, she's just ALWAYS invisible, so she's not anyone else that you've seen

Xylen

That tiny little camera movement to follow Iida's arms at around 24:23 is amazing. Iida's the best, I love how he comes off as a busybody initially but then his earnestness grows on you so quickly.

Ramon Cintron

Unnecessary Recap. The perfect name for this series lol

malikparah

I was trying to remember what happened this season to make me rate it so highly on MAL. Now I remember…it’s tournament arc time, a beloved staple of almost every shonen series

Anonymous

Hagakure "Invisible girl" is always invisible. She can't control her ability to turn invisible. She's always invisible. You don't know what she looks like. She's just always invisible.

Anonymous

The hands villain is Tomura Shigaraki. The warp villain always calls him by his full name lol

It just be like that zzz

Yeah I will never understand this shows need to have so many recaps

Brimmy

oh shit ur right that is a preview of the future never realized XD UGHHH fucking love the OP's all the time everyday just Y E S XD oh u really had me go look up what the DBZ tournament was called XD "World Martial Arts Tournament" also yeah invis girl is just invisible and as far as i am aware we don't even know what she looks like in the manga. Mina is the Pink Alien looking girl whose quirk is acid

agoodwintv

Oh yeah World Martial Arts Tournament. How could I forget such a unique and creative name lol

Aidan Pullen

"Just an ordinary kid" "80% of the population has super powers" If you were ordinary you'd have been born with powers dude

Aidan Pullen

"Maybe his power is unlocked when he's killing someone" Yeah..... I think maybe Eren ruined anime protagonists for you lol

I think I love the festival because it’s actually the perfect way to really focus on characters. With a cast this large it’d be nearly impossible to focus on everyone in high stakes arcs. For example all ready we’ve had the great conversation about a character’s reason to be a hero that would not come up naturally if there was massive stakes. It allows for a lot of great character stuff your going to love. It’s also an amazing way to show off everyone’s powers in detail. Like we know everyone’s powers but this arc you’ll get to see them all in use Edit to add more to this... if you watch the beginning of the OP’s you’ll see there is actually a sort of story to them. In OP one Deku is far from All Might. He sees his back and is reaching for him but failing. Here he’s closer but watching from atop a building. He’s closer. It’s a neat trend you’ll want to pay attention to in future openings. As Deku grows he’s a little closer to All Might

benj

The OP's in this show just keep getting better and better imo. On Season 3 now and each new one becomes my new fav which is actually pretty rare for me, I watch a solid amount of anime.

Nick

You know, I think with so many people saying Deku looks plain, it's kind of an almost beautiful message to me that echoes the idea that anyone can be a hero.
