i'm pretty sure the part about the double standard was just the villain pretending to have that motive and as all might pointed out he was just pretending, he really just enjoys being a villain. i'm pretty sure we do learn more about his motives later but i wouldn't hold onto that speech he made as his motivation cuz im pretty sure it's not

Season 1 is shortly coming to an end. It's truly flown by, but I've enjoyed it so far. I think you bring up a very valuable point about all the pressures and hopes being on All-Might's shoulders. He may be the Symbol of Peace, but how can that be sustainable as a society. Excited to see how if these get explored further.

The Plus Ultra motto is not English here. It’s Latin for ‘further beyond’. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plus_ultra Basically sort of means to push beyond what you can for excellence.

I found it interesting that Carolina smash is a 2 handed smash while there are also 2 states with Carolina in their name. The creator knew his US geography apparently.

i was admittedly pretty closed minded about you going into this show bc of how previous comments painted it as a mishmash of tropey anime bs, but i'm really enjoying watching and reacting to the series alongside you. it has a lot more depth than i expected. i'm tempted to start binging it, but i feel like it'll be weird to watch without the pairing of your reaction lol

Recently i have been wondering if the idea presented in MHA by the league of villains that heroes are just government sponsored thugs and the system needs to be destroyed is a commentary on policing or if it is just a coincidence that the same sentiment is held by many people currently about police.

We are still seeing the story from the bright eyes perspective of Deku, which is why that sad aspect of it hasn't really been explored. in the beginning allmight was already pretty down on himself. he puts on a brave face but i get the feeling he is really struggling to accept his situation

Loved this episode the tension and that fight in the 2nd half is part of what makes me love this show. I definitely have issues with it like pretty much anything I watch, but i think it starts pretty strong and ends the season on a strong note too. A lot to like.

This series is something special and I'm glad to see you're having so much fun with it. This is the episode that really made me realize how great MHA is and why I love it. When "You Say Run" starts to play you know what comes next is about to hit different LMAO.

When you asked “what does that even mean?” After deku and all might both said that he was using more than 100% of his power; It basically means that he’s giving so much effort that he’s forcing his body beyond its usual limits and kind of breaking himself in the process.

The show brings up the concept of "hysterical strength" at a certain point and yeah, that's pretty much what that is. Literally "going beyond" what you should be able to do and paying for the consequences after your endorphins wear off.

Going back to this episode just cause I wanted to rewatch this reaction and it brought up a good point to make for just the rest of the series that people get confused on. The writer of the show actually talked about what it means to go past 100% of their power. He described the real world parallels of when mother's children get stuck under cars and their adrenaline is so pumped up that they can lift cars when obviously normally they can't do that. The same kinda goes for one for all or anyones power and he's going beyond that limit that his body has set for him. Kinda a cool thing that the writer himself noted that. But just something to keep in mind going forward in the series whenever stuff like that occurs with any characters
