My fav opening !! 😬💜

Itachi The Rouge

That description has me absolutely cracking up! Lmao the rom-com Titan House

Megan

I’m going to be completely honest... I cried the first time I saw the opening for this season.

R'Mani Leavell

I know that we are a ways away from episode 12 but I just want to give a heads up incase you decide to take what I'm about to say into consideration. This season was split into 2 parts, part 1 being episode 1-12 and 2 being 13-finale. At the end of episode 12 there is a post credit scene/teaser (That im sure you will hear a lot about up until that reaction drops). But the reason why I am writing this is because I personaly would prefer if you didn't watch it. To me, post credit scenes like that work best when you have to wait weeks/months for the next season/part to be released, but since you are going to be watching the following part immediatly I think it would still be just as enjoyable for you to watch and see how things unfoled as oppose to watching each episode waiting to see how we get to the moment the teaser, teased. I'm not sure if you want to think about it, or ask other people what they think but this is why I brought it up now rather than right before the episode reaction dropped. I didn't watch the teaser when I first watch Aot becuase I didn't know that it was a thing, but I can say I think I was better for it. But its easier to look back on these things and say whether or not it was worth it. Sorry for writing an essay lol

Nick

I think the reason they were getting along so well was just that they finally have a moment of calm after the chaos of season 1's finale and all of season 2 lol. Also, considering all of the stuff they went through in that short amount of time, it makes sense they there would be this period where people are just acting kind of... well, normal. Even Eren. He's probably got a lot on his mind but since the heat has died down a bit he can probably think more clearly. Or at least act more rationally right now, instead of being constantly enraged. He also had that emotional breakdown in the season 2 finale which was likely cathartic in some sense, if you think about how much he had bottled up.

benj

i cried the first time and everytime i watch this opening lmao

Albert Rhodes

Your commenting on the different tone in the beginning made me imagine it as a sitcom. Laugh tracks when Armin asks if Mikasa was just chopping wood and when he asked Sasha what she put in her bag. Cheering and some "Oooo" when Levi walked in. "Attack on Titan is filmed in front of a live studio audience." I really wanna make an edit of this now...

SirLagginton

When I saw 11:13 in my first runthrough is when I first fell in love with Moblit.

Anonymous

Ep 1 takes place immediately after season 2, no time skip. Maybe a couple days or weeks at most

agoodwintv

That is amazing. So that brings the total time elapsed in the show so far to 45 minutes?

Stephen

its kenny time baby!

mr_wordcraft

"I feel so sensitive. I was all ready to get pumped up with another national anthem propaganda opening but, instead, I feel like my heart chakra opened. But that's okay, I'm sure this episode will be devastating, and that'll sort that out." AOT really knows how to play with people's feelings. xD Hey, since you're on S3 let me give you some advice: MANY people will have most likely told you to watch the after credit scene in EP49(S3xE12) and I want to advise you to NOT DO THAT!! For the love of God I have no clue why people want reactors to see that after credit scene, that scene was put there to keep people interested before Part 2 aired and they had to wait however as you DON'T have to wait then there's no point in it because it is a literal spoiler if you analyze it too much and I know that you're good figuring stuff out. The after credit scene is some scenes from further down the Season so why not just watch them blind rather than have a scene you'll remember throughout the remainder of the season to the point that you'll be able to predict the conflict and where the scene will fall within the story. Trust me, I've seen reactors that don't pay nearly as much attention as you and they were able to guess what was going to happen just based on that after credit scene alone, so for the sake of the story and a true blind enjoyment of that arc I recommend skipping it.

Ramon Cintron

Season 3 opening is my favorite one cause it just hits me in the feels even with out the context

SirLagginton

Also can we have a moment of silence for Hange Squad. They've been in nearly every single scout scene but never noticed :(

Megan

Moblit really shined in this episode. I wish he was more of a prominent character.

Aura Y

I really loved the opening episode of S3, revealing how there are enemies to the Scouts everywhere. It really sets the tone for a different type of story I think. Also we have reached the infamous "Kennnnnyyy" line from Levi. What a way to end an episode!

Anonymous

Definitely, it's something that's going stick in your head and not in a good way.

mr_wordcraft

"KENNNNYYYYYYAAAAAHHHH" This is why I love the Japanese VAs, they can make something as simple as a name sound so badass that it gives you goosebumps.

a. tree

Season 2 (and even the first season, to a lesser extent) definitely felt a lot more like a "story" season to me just in terms of what the author/production team seemed to be working to primarily advance. But in this season already in the first episode we can see the start of some budding character arcs. There's some stuff going on with Hange, clearly some more Levi backstory for us to learn, Historia, and then even Eren and the rest of the 104th just feel more adult. Really looking forward to seeing how all these folks evolve over the course of these two larger story arcs.

Xylen

Man, it cracks (heh) me up whenever you mention the crackers. Lands every time. People always talk up your insights and analysis, so this doesn't get brought up as often, but you're really funny. Your dry humour really gets me, from the descriptions to your quips throughout each episode.

Alex Begley

I love Alex laughing about Kenny's arrival while Levi is dealing yet again with his compatriots' deaths, this time right next to him, while they're in the middle of a conversation, and at the hands of a human haha Probably because there's just so much death in the show it's becoming desensitizing haha

Alex Begley

I think a good, light hearted sense of humor is a great sign that a person has remained grounded no matter what they've been through, good or bad

Anonymous

Ah yes, my favorite opening.

meg

ahhh I love this opening, it makes me want to cry everytime I hear it. Also I felt the same everyone looks and feels so mature but I guess when your friends turn out to be titans and you almost die a few times it mellows you out a bit.

jdthebud

Season 3 definitely introduces a tonal shift in the story, it really threw me off the first time I watched it when it was airing. I don't think I was ready for it and stopped watching the show after the 6th episode of this season. But this reaction series has motivated me to give AOT another try from the beginning, and I think I've gained a more complete perspective on the story up to this point. I'm only a few episodes ahead of you at this point, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the show unfolds along with you!

Jupiterninja

This is my first time watching too, but introducing a mass murderer with apparently widely known lore who was never mentioned by anyone and just so happens to have a personal connection to Levi? That just seems like lazy writing

ArmdVctr

RIP Kenny's voice actor died last year.

Anonymous

I mean the first 2 seasons been mostly on the outer walls/outside and titan fighting. I don't think it is too far fetched for us to have never heard about him, then hear his name when show shifts into political and human focused conflicts.

Jonathan Canfield

next episode has one of the best animated scenes ever.

Christian Medeiros

Alright well since some comments have talked about what to do for much later episodes, I'll say this. For Ep 16, 17 and 18 I think you must watch them back to back for full effect. I consider them 1 giant episode and it really is one of the peaks of this show, not to say there aren't even better moments to follow. For context, the episodes are rated #1, #4 and #28 for all time highest rated TV episodes on IMDB. They're obviously pretty popularity skewed but I think it speaks to how amazing that set of episodes is. Hint: I dont know if you confirmed no double uploads for AOT after 1000 patrons, but I think maybe doing a special triple upload for those would be pretty nice ;)

mapo picker

u mean we as viewers meet so many random new characters that die horribly xd

Brimmy

Kid u not this is my least favorite OP its just too slow, I'm not here for ballads 99% of the time also the animation for this entire season is amazing o.o

this is subtle, but i really find it interesting how levi talks to armin when eren was practicing with his titan. i may be reading the room wrong, but i feel like that brief exchange was communicated by levi as if he sees armin as an equal, not so much a subordinate. maybe it's just something about intelligence (or emotional intelligence) that earns more of levi's respect for someone bc he seems to look down on mikasa for being so overly concerned about eren (calling her a gloomy brat for interrupting the drill). i'm certain there's also a lot more to his judgements than that, but that's my two cents. on top of that, armin being positioned on the cliff with the scouts' leadership (+ historia), rather than on the ground with eren seems to me like they're grooming him to take on a larger leadership role, but i might just be overthinking it. he's been my favorite character to watch develop so far, so i could just be overly hopeful for him lol

Aaron Ong

Eren is honestly a much more interesting character to me than he was at first observation. He seems simple-minded, but more often than not I feel like it's more of a guise, or maybe more of an instinctual state he switches to and depends on during moments of extreme emotional trauma. If we really think about the times he has shown the most ferocity and rage, it was during any emotionally heavy moment, or during a moment in which he reflects on those emotionally heavy scenarios. His drive was probably always just a facade to make himself feel stronger in the moments in which he had the least strength. I honestly feel like the ending of Season 2 put him in a very tough state, a primal phase where he reverted back to his kid self. That guise of hatred was finally shattered, and he was put into a very vulnerable situation within which he was powerless. I can imagine that he had to make a lot of very deep and personal subconscious evaluations of himself, and what he can actually achieve. Maybe he seems to have toned down in this episode because of those thinkings? I wonder if he has realized something about the world and himself that was deep enough to really rewrite parts of who he thought he was?

I died at the romantic comedy comment hahaha

Juan

i watched this season on and off a few years ago, so for the most part i'm drawing a blank on this season. i'm excited to experience it again with you! having watched season 4 part 1 already, this is gonna be a rollercoaster of surprises and dots connecting for me

Nick

This is why season 3 and season 4 are commonly seen as the best ones imo. They combine the best elements of the first 2 seasons, combine it with lore, political intrigue, action, emotions and interesting character developments. It makes for a great hybrid. To me it always felt like Isayama's writing just got way better when he was creating this part of the story, like the last arcs were a warmup. For some authors a story doesn't even start to fully click until you get to a milestone.

Nick

There's also a couple of season 4 episodes that are on the IMDB list too. All around very impressive lol

BubbleTea

Lots of people hate on this OP but it's one of my favs :(

RationallySassy

If you're still reading comments, I'm curious as to if you watched the ending credits or have thoughts on the ending credit scene. Season 3 Ending 1 is my favourite of the ending scenes so I was hoping you'd check it out! (Though I don't know if you watch the ending credits in general). Also there was a poll on twitter a while back asking people what their favourite seasons were, I picked 2 but I go back and forth between 2 and 3. Wonder what you're opinion will be!

Aaron Ong

This! Requiem der Morgenrote is the best ed in terms of its score, and the actual theme of its visual and lyrical content. I would definitely recommend watching it. It is a Linked Horizon song (The group behind the first 3 ops), and it is honestly pretty pleasant to listen to.

Aaron Ong

It gets better when you watch further and come back. The content of this OP makes a lot more sense emotionally.

benj

Well everyone in this Goodwin community seems to love it which is just another reason why Alex attracts people with good taste. This OP is melancholic and emotional so people who wanted another rock banger get upset but there is no way you anyone can say this is a bad song or visuals even if its not your thing.

Nick

I think as the story progressed more and more people started realizing how great the OP is. Especially the full song, it's incredibly relevant

agoodwintv

True, they have been through a lot together. If it doesn't tear them apart it will bring them closer

agoodwintv

That didn't occur to me when I watched this episode but that makes a lot of sense. I'm struggling to think of specific instances but I am pretty sure there are a handful of instances where you see the senior crew recognizing Armin's gifts

agoodwintv

That was my thinking as well, about the end of season 2 being largely responsible for the tone shift for him, and intentional or not I like it

agoodwintv

I didn't get to watch it this episode because the credit sequence is the Kenny introduction, interestingly.

Jordan

“I heard the opening for season 3 has no spoilers” *sees about 3 spoilers in the first couple seconds🤦🏻‍♀️* but i wont tell you what they are lmao

JDalsing

I'm sorrry, but E**n shows his power, it means something.

JDalsing

We can't show the same strength unless you want to show it..

Chris

Ahh Red Swan my second favorite OP, it just makes me happy to see our heroes smile for a change. AoT is all about twists and turns so this season should be a lot of fun. It may be hard to believe, but only a week or so has passed between the end of season 2 and this episode. Also did somebody say... KENNY?!

Aaron Ong

KENNYYY

Quade Hudson

Red Swan is my favorite opening of AoT. I like it's juxtaposition of pretty much all the other Ops surrounding it. It's very subdued and focuses on more emotions than anger and pure drive for survival, which we don't get to see much of, in the series.

I don't give a shit about any of the characters on this show. If they were to die, I would feel nothing. That's the #1 clear mark of a terrible show for me. I'm really excited for the day you finish it and move on because I love your personality.
