Knowing what we know about Levi from this episode, and how Isabel even says they looked like birds flying around free in the city, it makes sense why Levi would join the regiment with their symbol known as "The Wings of Freedom" lol I hadn't seen this OVA until now so this is very interesting.

I'm pretty sure Levi is 34 in the main anime currently, so I'm assuming he's in his 20s here. I also hadn't seen the anime adaptation of the No Regrets manga until this point, so I'm a little sad they cut/changed some of the scenes. Erwin and Hange's characterisation suffered from the shafted/changed scenes imo so if anyone else has only watched the anime I really recommend reading the manga too

I love that in this OVA, you can see that although Erwin isn't in charge yet, [redacted] is giving him a lot of responsibility as if he's already on track to be the next commander. He was already showing signs of great leadership by coming up with the formation among other things. (I realized after reading another comment that this may have been a mild spoiler so I redacted myself.)

Even though the commander isn't as great as Erwin, he at least as the humility and wherewithal to recognize Erwin's talents, gaining his insight and almost always differing to his opinions, which is actually a good trait in a leader. The commander is just too reliant on Erwin's abilities to the point that Erwin should basically be the commander

The 'predicting the rain' comment reminded me of John Lock from Lost, aha. Then I tried to think of similarities between John and Erwin, there's some....but not many, haha.

Do want to bring up again though that the body that Erwin looks at in the end is Flagen, the one in charge of Levi's squad and the one against Levi and crew joining the survey corps. Goes to show how dangerous that abnormal was

Levi screaming as he's cutting up the titan always hits me in the feels, you can hear his pain so vividly. I honestly don't understand how some people can call Levi "emotionless", I'm like "Are we watching the same series?" The thing with Levi is the eyes, he might have a neutral face but through his eyes you can see the hurt inside in scenes like when he saw Petra and the rest of his squad dead.

It happens! I don't really have much perspective as a whole but I can imagine there's a lot to keep track of. For example, I've known Ymir's name since season 1, but it seems her name wasn't actually revealed until later. But there is no way if I had seen the whole show so far that I would be able to keep track of that :D

Yeah the Petra scene still weighs heavily on me. It didn't even hit me that hard at first, but thinking about it and going back to watch it later I realized that it's there, it's just subtle. This scene with Levi is especially disturbing, not only because of the extremely graphic images, but also because it's somewhat unlike him to be that expressive.

Its probably because of how horrifically and almost lifelike the way they drew the corpses but man.. that shit... made me so ill even though, like you said, I knew it was coming, but, uhh... I was absolutely NEVER prepared for the overturned tractor trailer full of Survey Corps' Survey Corpses' Corpse Parts littering this HELLSCAPE lol jesus christ Thanks Alex! Also I have no idea if this is relevant or what (I am watching "along with" his episodes so i've seen only as far as he has) but is it just me or was every character in this OVA like... an analog of the main cast? lol it... i didn't even really notice it the first time i watched this. I thought Isabel looked a little like Eren in the eyes er whatever sure but this time, ALL I could see was store brand characters hahah

I had never seen any of the Attack on Titan OVA’s so thank you so much for doing this video. I just wanted to comment and say that this one literally brought tears to my eyes and opened up a new door for levi in my eyes. I can wait for you to see season 3 and 4 and im waiting each day for you videos, i love them. So thank you so much for doing this!
