Rather than do 2x18 and 2x19 this week and 2x20 and 3x1 next week, I figured it would be better to do 2x18 alone and have the finale be together. So only one episode this time!

I also considered doing all 3 of the remaining season 2 episodes, but all my reactions were stand-alone videos so that would have been A LOT for one video.

Best fight in the ENTIRE SERIES!!!

I was drinking tea when Toph said the "riding bareback" line and I almost choked because I completely forgot she said that LMAO. (Forgive me, I am a child) Plus 1 for attempted murder. Optimistic Sokka was short lived but the impact of his efforts are long-reaching. This episode I think has my favourite sequence so far in the series. That rotating shot where both Aang and Toph are blocking projectiles in every direction? *Chef's kiss* Also I've highkey been WAITING for Sokka's Long Feng joke. And it finally arrived in this rewatch series. Man. Not much more to go huh.

This is what I love about the last few episodes of book 2. All the characters go through a radical transformation. The Gaang is on top of the world after the earth king arrests (crap forgot his name). And then us just pummeled by zuko and Azulas and are running away with their tail between their legs. While zuko has this redemptive moment and throws it all away. But to him he got everything he wanted.

“His other sin was having a daughter” 😂😂😂

I swallowed my commentary on that one... That's GOTTA be intentional right? A classic case of Nick shows sneaking in some adult humor?

Hey it ended way to early. Like halfway through your reaction to your old reaction. Didn’t know if you knew that

It's all fun and games until you're the one Earth Nation soldier who was still underwater when Katara froze it

A Suresh

Oh yeah, the video does seem to be cut short midway through your reaction to your reaction

Sokka really does set the earth king up to just take a massive L with the Kyoshi warriors, couldn’t wait just a few hours to see Suki before taking off...

I come from a culture (religion in a sense) that looks at dogs as najiz. Which means impure. So they are treated poorly. When I came back to the West (didn't know much English or Western world) I was so bothered by dogs being everywhere. DIsgusted at how dogs were treated part of the family and all the licking. Exposure and becoming less religious helped me appreciate and respect dogs. Now when I see animals being mistreated I see the ones doing mistreating as degenerates and deficient in intellectual capacity. I get so angry that I wish I had the power to treat the people the same as they treat the animal. Brings out the shadow in me.

Yusuf

Yes but Zuko is still a changed man, so I disagree with the redemption moment being thrown away.

the show presents it badly but I always just assume its like the next day or couple of days that Suki arrives in Ba Sing Se after Sokka and co leave. They don't make it clear though but the way the scene changes its supposed to show that it is definitely at a different time that Azula shows up at the end for that cliffhanger.

One thing I wondered, and I know this was cuz it didn't exist anymore, but also because conflict, was why couldn't they just make another kind of entrance/tunnel to lake laogai? I don't see why they couldn't make another tunnel/entrance to it just because the Dai Li destroyed the one entrance they know of. I mean the only setback is it's most likely deep underground. but using meta knowledge we know it's not completely destroyed because we see it in LoK. Feels like they kinda gave up too early. Plus wouldn't Toph have been able to see it? I dunno, just a thing that bugged me upon rewatching.

benj

Nah they destroyed the whole Dai Li base under the lake chief. In LOK we see that it gets completely destroyed and flooded in with water. What you see of the base in LOK is what they did after this episode in order to hide the evidence.

WolfWarrior623

damn, my memory and probably my vision has betrayed me then. i mean it's been a while since i seen it now but genuinely didn't look "that" destroyed to me. abandoned yea, but i did not see flooded. alas the perks of being almost as blind as toph. I'd still think they'd still be able to do something though, destroyed or not, they got 2 earthbenders, one being the avatar, and a waterbender, but eh.

agoodwintv

That's really interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience. I think some people don't like animals for personal reasons and I have no issue with that really. But I think cruelty is a different story.

I definitely relate to your take on dream sequences in media, I hate them almost 90% of the time but some of my favorite movies and shows still have them but in those rare cases it is done extremely well. This being the best example of good dream sequences, it isn't forced character development that Zuko is going through in these dreams, but instead horrifying and trippy animated visuals flooded with symbolism about his destiny and past. This episode is a serious rollercoaster ride you are definitely right about it being non-cohesive. Five episodes of Plot are compacted into this one episode lmao, and I'm very happy they did it this way cause than we get to focus on the characters instead of the world.
