I'll probably have something more meaningful to say later but THE WALL HAS ALWAYS BEEN MADAM CHRISTMAS

Emma Root

It seemed like they kicked Roy's hand and that was enough so he couldn't snap his fingers during the scene? Yeah it seems more convenient for the plot than anything but no complaints from me

agoodwintv

It has, and also Madam Christmas turns out to be in the shape of a circle.

Alex Begley

The other thing that may have been a factor was that they were in a tight space so maybe Roy was afraid of any friendly fire but that contradicts Roy's earlier statement to Envy about his ability to use pinpoint accuracy

Anonymous

My head canon is that with that many people moving about rapidly he couldn't risk throwing fire around recklessly. While he did show very fine control against the mannikins and Envy, the mannikins were relatively slow moving and with Envy it was mostly just the two of them and didn't have to worry about friendly fire.

Have you seen Parasyte: The Maxim? I just watched it recently and it might be my favourite anime. It has a kind of weak romance plot but it is thematically brilliant. Its thesis (i guess you could call it) is quite unique among fiction IMO. Its fairly short at only 24 episodes.

Nick

Quotes like this make me want to see his reactions to the bloopers lol. Even though it's not integral to the show, it has some funny moments for sure "How about I push you off this roof?"

Nick

@Noah C But you forgot to mention he has pinpoint aiming? Too bad for you... BECAUSE HE DOES!!!!

agoodwintv

Actually I just watched it recently! In November or December. I loved it and wished I had saved it for videos, but oh well. I actually felt a lot for... damn I already forgot her name. Not the main girl, the delinquent one. I was actually shipping and I was thinking, "damn this is such a waste, the one time I actually ship characters."

FMAB: everything is circles AOT: everything is walls what does it all mean

Nick

And in AOT, the walls form 3 giant circles collectively. AOT is taking place on a giant transmutation circle, it all makes sense now.

A Suresh

Nooo old man Fu :( This show doesn't mind letting sleeping dogs lie and then bringing them back to bite. The Ling-Bradley interactions are one of them. I feel like I should say more, but all I'm going to say is, are you planning to react to the OVAs? They're quite good. Great reaction and see you for the next one!

benj

goodwin reacts to every episode of every anime ever made, all of it gets uploaded to the patreon for as long as it takes

agoodwintv

Thanks! I will definitely watch the OVAs. I will post them if it seems like there is interest.

Yusuf

I hate how the guy was summoning the transmutation circle and they just standing there. Why not use flame alchemy or gun or keep attacking. The failed Bradleys even stopped fighting. Such a cop out!

Yusuf

He could have pinpointed the doctor when he was summoning and the guards stopped attacking to be part of the transmutation circle. They just stood there and let him summon.

benj

Literally unwatchable. Cancel the whole show everyone, pack it up and end the reactions here.

Fu's death really hit me, and I wasn't really attached to him before this scene. This show has a habit of getting you to really care. As far as Mustang not using alchemy, his alchemy relies on manipulating the oxygen in order to produce flame. With the "fake Bradleys" moving so fast, they kept redirecting the oxygen so Mustang couldn't produce flame. That and suspension of disbelief, haha.

Anonymous

Another fun parallel between Bradly and Ling is that Ling is the 12th son of the emperor while Bradly was the 12th candidate to be Wrath.

Yusuf

Nah, this is an awesome show regardless. Little flaws shouldn't get in the way of enjoying a show.

Yusuf

He could have pin point flamed the doctor. He was still the whole time especially when the fake failed bradleys stopped fighting haha

So the thing with "why didn't mustang use flame alchemy?" is, that in the manga, that whole altercation took only a few seconds with Mustangs attempt at using flame alchemy getting twarted by one of the Almost-Bradleys and Hawkeye being the only one getting some hits in, when she tries to shoot at the doc and one of the Almost-Bradleys jumps in front of him to take the shots. The anime paces it really weirdly to fit the runtime of the episode, so that it makes no real sense that Mustang just... punches guys, instead of using his alchemy

Burk314

In the manga, the whole scene happened way faster, and Mustang did try to use fire only to get his arm kicked to interrupt it.

Tmatts

I know there's been a bunch of discussion already about why Mustang hadn't used any flame alchemy. For me, I've always just thought two things: 1) He considered the non-Bradleys greater threats than the doctor since they are each semi-close to Bradley's level himself, and for the most part, just basic alchemy has never been that huge of a threat to them. 2) While the non-Bradleys were bigger threats, they were still human and Roy just got done stepping away from the edge with his fire alchemy. I kind of feel like burning real people alive isn't something he was keen on doing in this moment.

agoodwintv

I see, so they stretched out the source material... I mean Roy Mustang punching is a sight to see, so not a big complaint

agoodwintv

That was my first thought as well, that it would feel weird watching him incinerate people right after the Envy sequence

TJ Frangie

Yeah 12 is a common thing in many religions. The show draws many parallels to religion.
