Late Night Goodwin Party

benj

cool detail that I never knew, Sasha is a great candidate for aot best girl

ArmdVctr

Shasha's dad is great character altogether.

Brimmy

The reason the subs were like that is because of the accent they are speaking in I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it in a much better way than what i just tried XD

Francesca White

Something i liked in this episode was Ymir basically told Sasha she should speak in her village's dialect and be herself, and Christa basically said it's ok if she wants to "fake" the way she talks, because her words will always be her own. and then when she does go back to her old way of speaking in that one moment with the little girl and say "get runnin!", idk it's just a really good moment and i love character focused episodes like this, especially with Sasha whom i love.

ohhh so the OVA was an extra instead of a replacement for today's episode? second best news after hearing that you will watch No Regrets

agoodwintv

I wouldn't want it at any other time. And probably couldn't get up for it anyway

Aaron Ong

A cool detail with Sasha's accent is that after the flashback with Krista and Ymir about her speaking politely, she turns to the girl and tells her to run using her normal voice- the one she used when talking to her dad in the other flashback. Prior to the Ymir flashback, Sasha was speaking to the little girl in a lighter, more polite tone. Just something I found cool that I didn't notice on my first watch.

Yooooo a double AOT drop!!? This was such an awesome episode, and Sasha's dad is a super cool chill dude, honestly love him. Can't will till other characters get focused on too, everyone gets decently explored throughout the show which is one of the reasons why so many of us can remember so many characters and their names, and on rewatches you can find other characters who weren't explored too in-depth or you might've ignored or not noticed in certain different contexts/scenes that are super interesting or memorable in their own way(before their inevitable deaths, as AOT often does)

Megan

I love this episode so much. While I greatly enjoyed season 1, at this point when I was first watching I didn’t feel very connected to most of the characters yet. I’m glad they decided to go in depth with some other characters this season. I adore both Sasha and her father. This episode also gave a little bit of insight into Christa and Ymir’s characters which is nice. One thing I just noticed was that Sasha used the same move to slip out of her father’s grasp in the beginning as she did to escape the titan. Neat little detail.

Nick

When I first saw this episode, I was unsure of how to feel. I really wanted to see the plot continue, but I'm really happy now that this episode exists and it went in depth on Sasha's backstory. It lends itself to what people say about characters getting their time to shine. This has grown to be one of my favorite episodes, for the positive aspects of humanity that it shows. And for, of course, having best girl Sasha. Reaffirming to us that it's scientifically impossible to hate her. This ep is just full of heart, which is lovely.

benj

Best girl is Krista but nice try, and yeah this episode has aged like fine wine

Sasha conny and jean are such a well balanced trio. I personally like them more than the main trio of eren mikasa and armin, they just seem so okay with eachother. also, its very often overlooked just how scarce meat is to the average person. if i had it only about three times a year, id react just like sasha did in that flashback!

Nick

@benj Sasha and Krista share the title imo. Hard to choose, so I am forced to call them both by the title And best boy is still Conny/Connie in my opinion. Or a certain character in the latest season

agoodwintv

I thought it might be a dialect :D I wonder how well it was translated/localized. Does it actually have the same connotations as "dangnabit" haha

agoodwintv

That's a great touch. I really didn't expect to get this kind of episode at all but grateful for it

agoodwintv

I fully expected a plot episode going into this. But loved the Sasha focus

NitrousOxide19

Yeah japanese subs for country or even british characters don't feel right to be honest. hahaha. i don't normally like the dub but they definitely handle Sasha's dad better in that

KJ Gaona

"Until proven otherwise..." Words to live by with this show. It's so hard to enjoy the little victories when they keep throwing more tension and mysteries at you. It's like losing a toe each time you take a step in the right direction. At some point you wonder if you're gonna have enough of your feet left to make it the rest of the way!

benj

@Nick Connie is 100% best boy we can for sure agree on that.

Sh3nx

Exactly benj, At first I thought this episode was so unnecessary back when it aired. but of course thats not how isayama does it work, Right now this episode has aged extremely well. one of the best episodes seeing it in retrospective.

Alex Begley

When I first watched it, I thought for they were setting Sasha up to die with her sacrificing herself so the girl could get away. So glad they didn't because it does make for a nice uplifting episode in the show. Once again I also love how they're able to put the characters in a situation that builds tension like they did in the 57th expedition. This time it's the lack of information as to how the Titans got within the wall, the 104th recruits not having gear and those with gear being in small number, the eventual nightfall that comes in the arc and of course the presence of the Beast Titan. I just love their ability to create these situations in epic arcs

Actually Isayama was planning on killing Sasha that episode, it was his editor that convinced him not to because she could be useful in the future.

Rudy Strother

Ehhh not quite, that’s a common rumor that’s not totally true. Isayama made the decision on his own. The editor simply admitted in an interview that he was glad he did it. So it was the original idea for Sasha to die here, but the editor is not the one that convinced him to change it

malikparah

i like how sasha's dad's message of if you're not there for other people then you can't expect them to be there for you came back in the present. Sasha was there for that little girl and in turn that little girl was there for her by telling the others that she was still back there

Alex Begley

Still interesting to know. I think it could have worked either way but it's nice to get moments were characters don't die when they're in danger haha

meg

Sasha!! she's so adorable, the way she screamed after she lost the ax and the horse is so funny. Even in terrifying situations she's hilarious. I love her!! she's such a sweet character :)

jdthebud

She definitely has the best reactions to both fortune and misfortune.

hays collins

Yep your finally getting the deep dives into the “side” characters.

Nyashaxo

Love that you still call her Goddess Krista
