Attack on Titan still coming tonight :)

Nick

I can’t wait. I mean, I can, but you get the point. Also, to anyone trying to watch along with him, until Jan 31st the first season is on Netflix in the US. So you can at least watch a good amount of season 1 if you already have Netflix, but I recommend looking into alternatives too for finishing the series

I’ve always wondered if that’s battle accurate that they would send one ship first to send the first shots.

I just had the thought that, while unlikely, it could be possible that off screen Yue asked her father to take Sokka off the mission/admitted her issues with her arranged marriage. As I type it out it doesn’t click as much but just a thought.

how many times have you replaced melon lord/cabbage bro? Will you ever use fake produce? Do you already use fake produce and I just never noticed?

This finale is personally my favorite finale out of the three. Might be a hot take, but I think all three finales are perfect in their own ways and so in comparing them I really only think about how well each finale wrapped up that seasons set-ups in terms of character development and plot points. Because of this, I think the Season 1 finale is the best out of the three as it offers perfect conclusions to every single characters thoughtfully setup development and the various plotlines, examples include Zhao and Zuko's ending, Sokka's sexism arc to Yue's sacrifice, Katara's "mastery" of waterbending after finally finding a real master, the list goes on and on. All these threads were planted in the very beginning of the season and imo no other finale is as perfect in writing and closure than this one.

That wolf walking in the background of kohs tree was the wolf of Koh’s mother “the mother of faces” in the comics.

I think you're exactly right. I've always struggled to put it into words, but it really does feel like the stars aligned for this finale. The other two are perfect in their own ways, as you said, but Siege of the North does a fantastic job of bringing together and concluding what was otherwise a very episodic season.

"You'll be able to fight a sea sponge." -Pakku. A little Spongebob reference? Idk how I always forget Koh's voice is Aaravos! He really is good. Do you know the tale of Princess Kaguya? A big part of Yue's story is based off that, I think. Totally agree, though love is a feeling, it's also a skill you practice beyond just feeling. I do subscribe to what Erich Fromm says about that. But anyway, love is a lot of things. And it's definitely not talked about in media much, which is unfortunate because I think it could stand to help some people who have the wrong idea of what a relationship entails. Myself included! The knowledge has to be paired with the experience.

Haha so... originally it was all real fruits and vegetables. Through the course of making "Fruit Saga," they got replaced with synthetic versions to correspond with the story. The reason Melon Lordette "ascended" or whatever is because there are no synthetic honeydews.

Those are all great points. It really is a great "payoff" for season 1 in so many ways.

I had not heard of Princess Kaguya but I just read about it. Definitely a lot of parallels! It's interesting thinking of love as a skill. I think there definitely is something to "practicing" emotions or feelings. And yeah, love is complicated, and another layer on top of that is relationships, of which maybe love isn't the sole or even the most important element. But the way I grew up thinking, if you pick the right person or "the one," love is eternal, when the reality is probably more complicated than that (at least for most people).

You say you're secure in yourself enough that losing your significant other wouldn't affect you in that sense.. Can you be sure about that though? Could you imagine a situation in which it would crush your view of yourself or self esteem? When emotions get involved I feel like it's a lot harder even when you logically know stuff to side with logic over emotion. Thanks again for the upload, love this rewatch. I was skeptical of going back so soon but you've convinced me.

Thanks! About breaking up... honestly I would be devastated. But it would be the devastation of loss. Losing someone I care about, thinking about all the memories, etc.. But I'm confident it would not affect my self-esteem. And a thought I doubt I would have would be "I'll never meet anyone else who will like me," etc. There are a few reasons for this. One is what I talked about in the video which is that I sort of answered that question for myself already and have disconnected it from feelings of self worth. Another and perhaps more important reason is that I'm always consciously trying to do my best and be a good boyfriend. That is not something I ALWAYS thought about and I'm definitely far from perfect, but I think the most enduring pain in breakups is guilt from wrongdoing, and I would not have much of that. That being said, as you pointed out it's easy to say that but might be a different story when the chips are down lol. Hopefully I won't find out

I am enjoying your re-watch of Avatar. This series is infinitely re-watchable and it is fun to see someone discover how much that is. Knowing where the story goes really helps appreciate the journey in my opinion.

I love that the final Zuko scene in season one ends with the same line from Iroh as the first one in season one: "A man needs his rest." There's something cyclical and wonderful about it, and it harks back to your pendulum analogy about how the struggle is swinging from one extreme to another, all while growing. One of the other things I think is important is the idea that success isn't a straight line; it's a winding path that often doubles back on itself. Great reaction for this one, I'll see you for season 2 of the rewatch :)

"Not the slightest expression, or he will steal your face." That's why Koh was left out of the movie. He's not a threat. :P
