What the heck? Look who passes behind Winry at 6:24! Never noticed that before, that's awesome :D

Mustang and the gang's shenanigan's and slice of life scenes are some of my favorite parts of this show. They are all hilarious and are littered throughout the show.

Nick

Seeing someone else experience this show for the first time is truly special, and your commentary is super great You’re also approaching the part of the show where it ends with the 2003 catch up episodes

agoodwintv

Thanks! And wow that's faster than I expected. I thought it would be midway through or something.

I'm really enjoying this show so far this episode was my favorite so far. Unfortunately it looks like melon lord isn't too far from retirement haha he needs his rest.

I don't remember this show all too well so every time I'm like "...is THIS the episode where [REDACTED]" and I have to keep waiting lol. A hint if you want to know what I mean: .--. .... --- -. . / -... --- --- - ....

I have to say, watching you tear up over the flashback with Ed was really validating considering this is the hundredth time I've watched this show and still did the same. It really knows how to hit you where it hurts.

it's really hard for me to say anything genuinely reflective without sounding redundant after you break things down so well lol. Seriously though, your commentary on things is pretty different than most "reactors" (in a great way). Ed and Al's relationship is so beautiful. It does an amazing job of capturing brotherhood. It's something I can always identify with and connect to in a really meaningful way. Such an amazing episode. I also have a great deal of admiration for Winry. She's always there for the Elrics, and she cares for them so deeply. She may be all aggressive with them but her undying willingness to help them and look out for them is something incredible in it's own right.

A Suresh

You've given me more to think about with your perspective on this episode. Initially I thought it was mostly for further establishing the Elrics' relationship and give it more context but now I see that there's more to it than that. It's a little bit about gratitude in a way and about the illusion of lack. As always, I've enjoyed your reactions and appreciate the perspective that they bring to colour my own. Thanks Alex, see you for the next one :)

I really hate al”s voice it was hard for me to get into his character because his voice was so Whiny and the way he says brother creeps me out. But that’s just more his voice after the character is a great character and I love him but damn it was hard to get into al

Sitasien

yeah they did this great, in the first anime which was made before the manga was finished, al's questioning relality and nina's death were drawn out over multiple episodes, so it was waaaayyyy worse

Nick

It’s weird because I love his voice and showed FMAB to my friend and he also loved Al’s voice. I guess it’s preference But I think he sounds very innocent, which fits his character

agoodwintv

Haha he's plastic now so he should live a while... but maybe he needs a vacation. I might take him to Japan

agoodwintv

For sure. I've loved the brothers since the beginning, but Winry is a character who has really surprised me.

agoodwintv

Thank you :) And yeah I think part of the beauty and tragedy of Ed's character so far is how motivated he is by guilt about what happened to Al. But while I think restoring their bodies is a worthwhile goal, the guilt is sort of unnecessary, cause Al loves Ed unconditionally. This episode was a great moment for the two of them because their feelings have a chance to sort of catch up to each other.

Soleil

I don't think most people recognize that Al's spent four years not feeling, eating, sleeping, etc. All the sensations we cherish, he's been stripped of. But, he never complains about his situation, and he's been so loyal and faithful to his brother. Right now, Al is having an existential crisis, which we all have--yet, his condition is so much worse than most: he's still a child and his "formative" years have been spent in a suit of armor that can't even feel a hug. All of this takes a toll on someone, and for someone as sweet and good-natured as Alphonse, he's been such a trouper. Give him some slack for cracking a little.
