It’s so strange getting your take episode by episode when I’m so used to watching a season at a time with this show haha I forget just how segmented it feels when you don’t binge the whole thing.

I get what you mean. I think this show really is meant to be watched that way. I actually think it would be better to watch 2 episodes at a time for videos but that's somewhat difficult logistically speaking.

Now I wont be able to stop thinking about Viren hauling that mirror across the whole castle making a tonne of noise while trying to keep it secret. Lol

Cant wait for you to get into season 2 and 3. It’s so much more adult like and very very compelling story lines. It’s a lot like ATLA first season is iffy but books 2 and 3 are solid

Awesome :) The good news is season 2 will start next week I believe. There are 9 episodes in season 1 if I'm not mistaken. I'll post episoe 9 on Thursday and season 2 episode 1 on Sunday.

i'm watching this for the first time alongside you so i could be wrong, but i think veeren trapped the elf in the coin so that he would never be able to die. i think that's what they were going for when veeren said he'll find something worse than death.

The editing bits with the mirror creaking across the floor and Viren's: "I BROUGHT SOMETHING" were hilarious. Not sure if that was you or your new editor, but well done. 😂

I DIED at the mirror sound effect I could not stop laughing I had to pause the video 😂💀🤣

God that edit with the mirror was good (and Viren saying "I brought something" really got me). While at first the older kids needing a pep-talk seemed weird, I think I realized something this time. We often mistake the optimism of children as naivete, or as innocent childish delusion. However I think in this case it's just honesty. We become so used to the "cruelties" of life and often become cynical over time. We stew in our own failure. While all these kids are young and inexperienced, both Callum and Rayla are of the age where they're prone to a lot of doubt and cynicism, especially regarding themselves. Ellis and Ezran's role here is to act as an anchor to that "childish" honesty, that ability to not get super bogged down by things that are ultimately of little consequence in the grand scheme of things. While it is innocence in a way, it also just shows me how much we can honestly learn from younger kids, as in many cases they are less tainted by negativity and doubt. The first time I watched it I thought it was kinda weird, but now I realize I like what they did (even if I'm just over-extrapolating and it wasn't intended that way). Also I bet getting his soul trapped inside a coin made the elf WISH that Viren had brought him some of that butterfly crack. Not that he'd use it, being related to Dark Magic and all.

That's a good point. Also, Ezran and Ellis are not your average kids. I don't know as much about Ellis but it seems like both of them have a rare kind of inner strength that is definitely not naivete.

"You'd rather climb this cursed mountain than just try sitting on it, like nature intended?" XD XD XD

Thanks for making me imagine Viren dragging around the mirror, that was hilarious! I honestly never thought about it before though, how did he get that huge thing down there?
