I really find the writing to be repetitious and boring at this point in the show. Every episode characters act pig headed while dealing with the problem. Then at the end of ep they all apologize to eachother then hug. then immediately after catharsis there is a little twist to set up next episode. How many times does korra tenzin mako etc need to say sorry to each other before they have some character progression. I feel like korra has said sorry im being dumb and impatient every episode. Its a trope the show has fallen into and nobody actually grows.

Nico Salerno

I feel like every character could make the same exact mistake they did in first season and that bad. Each emotional realization that korra and the others make give an illusion of character growth butbthe next ep they all just do the same stuff as before. I get the sense that korra will never not just shoot fire at her problem first. And if by end of the series she still acts like that, then thats pretty lame.

you mean like how aang refuses to ever do anything but non-violence, and gets deus-ex machina out of any growth? Korra throughout the show goes through way more development than aang ever did, the reason she hasn't so far is just due to Nick screwing over the show. But it will change

Ramon Cintron

Dude he's watching the show and enjoying it why you gotta be a negative Nancy?

Nico Salerno

I totally agree with you. I think the lion turtle giving aang energy bending was poorly executed. But the major difference is that aang non violent apporach wasnt the thesis of the character progression. For aang it was accepting responsibility and duty of avatar which ultimately led to the choice of taking a life in service to that duty. And in the end that choice and progression for aang was muddled because he didnt have to make a choice. He got a way out. Which is way i think its briliant that because of that power he inadvertently created yakone-amon-tarlok problem so the turned that muddled ending into something interesting. With korra her impatience and unthinking approach is the first thing we learn about her. In the ahow consistently the lessons she learn is how to temper those qualities. So to me its just frustrating to watch her keep learning the same lessons over and over. Now people are like that sure. Zuko certainly had to relearn over and over but it felt more tightly written and they had far better handle of the character of zuko than the do of korra at this point clearly. I love korra i think its interesting to talk about this.

I can remember times when I was at least slightly annoyed by a lot of characters in the avatar universe and they are all still pretty good characters. Korra being bullheaded. Aang getting angry at Toph for Appa when she clearly was trying to save their lives. Makos hesitation with his own feelings. Katara's motherly bear disorder. These are only some instances and yet everyone forgets these characters aren't meant to be perfect. It's literally a bunch of dysfunctional people trying to save the world/destroy it.
