My harshest review since returning to written criticism, the totality with which Sonic Frontiers destroyed my goodwill is practically a landmark moment. I went from faint praise and hopefulness to hating this game with an abject passion. It's just so inexcusably bad, cheap, and broken.

Was a good read. Bummer about the game, I was hoping I might play a Sonic game for the first time in quite a while.

I get a sick satisfaction from reviews like these that rip a bad game to pieces

Rare Vanquish moment

Whoa. That's really sad to hear. Sonic is a beloved character/franchise. To hear it's fallen even further when Sonic 06 exists is sad.

Honestly having played it myself to call it worse than 06 would be dubious at best.

A heart for you and I happened to like Vanquish. Also, I 'm happy to see James Stephanie Sterling doing reviews again.

GreenHammerBro

Soneone please mod the game to fix these issues.

On some level I feel like Sonic Team is really trying. The overhaul on combat's been on my wishlist for awhile now. I don't know if they needed more time or lost focus, but I'm waiting until this gets patched to hell and back.

Dunkey’s video gave the same impression - if I were to get a sonic fix I’d go back to sonic mania every time

I can certainly see why some people wouldn't like it, and it's definitely got issues with various things, for sure. But yeah, 1.5/10 is way too low for me. It's the first sonic game I've played and enjoyed for a while.. I've never truly enjoyed one since sonic 3/CD days really.. but this one I actually quite liked

I am very glad to see you return to written reviews, I always enjoyed yours. That said, respectfully, I have to say I don't really like the shift in style in your new review compared to your older ones. Frankly, it feels like this review would have benefited greatly from editorial oversight. A lot of the swearing feels entirely superfluous (was "in a straight fucking line" over "in a straight line" really saying anything different), and makes the review read a lot like the script to a late 00s "angry reviewer" sort of video. While I believe the anger here is much more genuine than the anger in that genre, I still don't think it's all that informative. Additionally, the vitriolic tone kind of makes the whole thing seem needlessly abrasive. I am glad (as I always was) you're not afraid to voice your disappointment in games clearly without mincing words. But I also believe that a few expressions here go a tad bit far. Your apology below the review shows that you know that your comment was "rude", but I don't think rudeness itself is a problem here, more that the question whether saying something feels like it was "cobbled together by hack fucks" really isn't needlessly leaning into an aggressive kind of discourse that I normally associate more with the GAMER(tm) types than I do with you. My two cents, read them or don't, I guess. All that said, I am glad you're doing written reviews again, and look forward to the next ones.

So glad we have steph to warn us about all this video game nonsense letting us know what works and what doesn't. Saves me money and time that i will never get back, I really do appreciate it and they always make laugh. The Jimquitision is the brand I trust the most
