Hi everyone,

I'll post a preview for chapter 155 to spread out the billing more evenly between this month and the next. Now you won't have to wait for the full chapter release to find out what the Maliri males wanted to discuss with John and Dana.

I'll wrap this up as quickly as I can, then hopefully finish off 156 and 157 in August. We've got some nasty fights coming up with the Galkiran thralls, and the big reveal to John on Kythshara, so lots of fun things on the horizon.

So, where did Gahk'kalgor's nasty master get the Maliri name for John, Baen'thelas? If this was explained, I missed it, granted that Larn MIGHT have known of it, but he did not pay any of the girls/thralls, who may have addressed him that way, much attention, ... so, any thoughts? Or was it just the Author's (Tef) way to give our heroes a little more time? ;-) TTFN

Tefler usually drops chapters at the end of the month and beginning of the month - last few months have been the last couple of days and at most the first week. Its unusual for them to drop outside of that timeframe. Its a safe enough bet that we will get 155 this month, 156 end of the month/start of next and 157 next month. Worst case would be 155 this month, 156 and 157 preview next.

I'm like you, struggling to deal with the differences between what Tefler tells me he is going to do and what he actually does. its not the money,its the principal of the thing. I feel like I'm insulting myself at this point, allowing someone/anyone to tell me untruths without consequence for about a year now. Am i really tolerating this? Why? Am iawimp? I believe it is time to report this misrepresentation to the host. I’m like a lot of folks where I like getting paid for my work, but asking for pay without work is asinine. Keeping promises is an act of respect for the audience, which we are not receiving.

This irks a lot of people but it doesn’t stop Tef from doing it routinely. I find it curious why people (including myself) are so bothered by this. There are plenty of things you have to pay for before getting. And few of us are paying much for these stories - less than $2 on average. It shouldn’t be making anyone upset, but it really bothers people. There is misrepresentation due to the fact that Tef will set expectations for delivery like ‘soon’, or ‘tomorrow’, or ‘next week’… but all ways of describing a time mean ‘last day of next month’ in Tef’s language. This drives all of us a bit nuts. But again, why? I paid in full for a coffee grinder I ordered in March that I won’t get until November… and I’m more upset about not getting another TSM chapter which costs next to nothing and will arrive much sooner. Everyone seems to blame the misrepresentation or paying ahead. But if people were being honest I think waiting for another exciting chapter is the source of all pain. People could be searching for an adult sounding argument that justifies being so miffed. Something more intelligent than ‘I just really Really REALLY want the next chapter’. And yet from Tef’s perspective people claiming TSM withdraw is probably more motivational than a psudo-legal argument that waiting 30 days for a $2 product is wrong.

Michael56, I am in your camp which is why I am going to criticize you. Can we please stop calling people whiners when they might have different sensibilities? I do think Azure has the best response here. As for me, it is often 6 months before I get paid for services I render, sometimes a year, sometimes never, and there's a few other industries where that is the case. Those bothered by Tefler's precharge SHOULD be allowed to express their displeasure.

I think what irks people is that Tef just keeps doing it, like you I pledge 2$, it isn't the money or even that he waits until the end of the month. Like this is usually when I start getting the need to start checking for an upload, what irks me though is that he says things like hey first week I should have this, then mid month another and end of month another. Stop promising or just follow through, cuz when you tell me hey next week, then in gonna look next week, and if it doesn't show up, I'm gonna be mad cuz I just wasted some of my time I could be doing other things, don't promise and not follow through. Just say see y'all at the end of next month and I will check back then and we can all be happy.

I learned to tolerate it only because it is always the same one paid chapter that's missing, and it's late by a few weeks to a month. It's not 2, 3 or 4 chapters. It is kind of like a deposit, which I can take back come end of the month if I so desire. But the story is good, so I put up with it. Reporting the issue, with how minor it is, would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I think I know why Tefler is doing this. The old Carly Simon song used to sell ketchup in the late 70s: anticipation. Much of the reason food tastes better at certain (often pricier) restaurants is they make you wait; while they keep promising it will be out in a few minutes. Hunger and relief combine to make the food taste better! So, this sly dog Tefler may be having a go at this old trick.

Seriously? You give us a "preview" and then finish the chapter with a bunch of filler. Granted Faye was a good touch. Then to top it off you precharge for 2 chapters that you didn't complete yet. If you really thought you would get 156 done by next week then why not wait to charge for it when you actually release the full chapter. Regardless of how much you charge your patrons per chapter and no matter how much people say it's ok its still considered fraud.

.489: I had a thought, that if Tef were to take one of his multiple side stories out of the main chapter of the month and post it (perhaps at less than 9K words) as his 2nd chapter each month, or every other month. This might allow him to produce better and still bring in the income his family has gotten used to. And this occasional short chapters could give him a little more wiggle room when advancing his tale, ... just NOT the Tom Walker side-story, at least not until it gets interesting, ... He could even go back to Valea Gate and catch up with Luce and Theo after her Governors conference, ... and check out deputy Anthony Pheonix and his girls getting their new place (Maybe have a barn-raising) His side story would not need to be told in the mainstream story, but the fans might enjoy it. ;-) TTFN
