Hey everyone!

I finally finished this chapter. It took much longer for me to write than I anticipated, for various reasons both with the story itself and issues at home, so apologies for the long wait.

Anyway, I really hope you enjoy it. 

As usual, please let me know if you spot any typos!

While I miss Faye I was really hoping the species printer was going to make a body for Athena. She needs her own body so Alysa can reach her full potential. Athena would be a powerful new crew member, somewhere in the ballpark of having another progenitor on board. I’m sure Tef/John will pump up Faye with some super skills and I’m sure the sex will be great, but the timing seems odd. But I’m not all-knowing the way Tef is. I’m sure he has good plans.

I'm going to be very happy to see Faye's return and her wishes fulfilled, and I know that the Collective will be very interested as well, especially Daphne, but I find the comments regarding Athena and her getting a body to allow Alyssa to reach her full potential to be a bit perplexing. Faye was (and hopefully will evermore be) an independent entity with her own existence. Athena is *part* of Alyssa, formed from Alyssa's own brain. She may be an independent personality, per se, but Alyssa, unlike John, chose to keep her 'Guide' as such, rather than absorbing her and reintegrating those resources with her own core personality. Creating a new body for her and separating her from Alyssa would be taking from Alyssa, not freeing her as some have suggested, since Athena is part of Alyssa. Furthermore, they appear to have come to a satisfactory arrangement, allowing Athena to protect John when Alyssa is sleeping (as is John), especially after the TSM is given to another new member of John's girls. I'm actually wondering why we've had no mention of that happening again, recently, too.

Evan, you've made a perfectly good point about Athena and Alyssa. They have a symbiotic relationship. It would probably be harmful to separate them.

Rahn'hagon is the previous Progenitor in charge (of the former Randarai Empire) last seen just over 9000 years ago-- also with red skinned thralls, ... is Gahl actually Rahn's successor? ... -- Tef, will there, at some point in the future. be some acknowledgement of Rahn's former title/claim on these people? Maybe? and might he and Jessica upgrade to an undamaged Progenitor Dreadnaught with a crew? -- And I want to see Baen'thelas swapping recipe's, not only with the Maliri, but with the Larathyrans and the Galkarians too, He'll unite the Galaxy to fill up a few cookbooks, with Cyber Faye's help, ... our hero, ... ;-) TTFN

And then there's the Enshunu, also red-skinned. They have chrome-coloured ships, could be that the Enshunu males stepped out of their society much like the Maliri males have.

I do wonder if the Enshunu (Males anyway) are an off shoot from the Randarai -- perhaps a few hundred / thousand that were awaiting their time to join the Randarai network and serve their Lord and Master (Rahn), I then would wonder if most of the females were rather nice? .118: Why didn't the cloning incubation chamber contain a Nymph / Lanerran? Why did it look like Faye when John looked on? Well, that might be part of the answer. A nymph changes shape to look like her Masters' perfect mate, .... and I assume that the girls (Irillith, Dana and Alyssa too) had already uploaded her with all the personality and the memories of the original Faye, so the future Cyber-Faye became Faye for John right then, maybe, and also maybe an Alyssa clone is waiting around there somewhere for Athena, when John can gift both new bodies with the 'Spark of Life'? ;-) TTFN

So it will just turn out to be a Nymph that takes the form of the "Perfect Woman" for John that happens to look like Faye.

With Faye's return imminent, I have to wonder about her memories that the team has. They got them from Daphne, right? I seem to recall the scene where Faye gave Daphne those memories. I believe they were described as focusing on her feelings of love and happiness with the crew. Meaning, those memories aren't *all* of Faye's memories. Faye likely didn't copy over her memories of various projects that she was working on the side, such as her AI research that resulted in Daphne, and any other projects. Remember, she was an AI with 12 avatars, each one able to run independent processes, so she could very well have had at least 12 different secret projects in the works. Who knows what amazing and/or important things could have been forgotten about with the loss of Faye's memories. Hell, she could very well have been on the verge of cracking the secrets of wormhole travel and would have been able to save Dana and Alyssa so much trouble smoothing out the resulting nausea. Then there's whatever she saw on the ship's cameras that she decided to wait to tell John about before her death. That memory definitely wouldn't be included in what Daphne has.

The problem with the wormhole travel has to do with the material of the generator. The team will find that with some white and some gold in the metal, the generator will charge a lot faster than 12 hours once Alyssa helps Dana sort out the right charging process.

There is no problem with wormhole generator. It’s working just like Xar wanted it too. He doesn’t care about progenitor or thrall comfort and probably left out a few parts. He specifically added a device to add pain to the soul forge so he is a sadistic bastard.
