Hello hello!  I'm back from my short trip to Lisbon.  It was a much needed vacation and it was so fun visiting Lisbon and Sintra.  While walking around I found this bronze statue in Jardim Augusto Gil (a small garden next to a church) and I just loved it.  For the life of me, I haven't been able to find out who the artist of the statue was though.

Anyway, I thought as a way to get back into the swing of things, I would do a quick drawing of the statue to get a feel for the pose.

I included a few photos of the amazing scenery and castles from the trip in this image stack if you are interested to take a look!

The views in Lisbon were so charming and beautiful and the castles and forest of Sintra totally blew me away!  The temperature was comfortably cool, and it was so nice to get a glimpse of the sun!  haha!  I'll be honest, I really didn't feel ready to come back to negative temperatures and darkness in Sweden.  I'm already thinking that maybe next winter I need to plan to spend a month or two living and working in a place like Portugal to break up the long winters.

Anyhoo!

Now that I'm back, the next big thing on my to do list this month is to dive into the TUTORIAL.  It looks like the next tutorial is going to be Building up a drawing from simple to complex!  Definitely a fun topic!  I hope you can be a little patient with me as I work on this one since it is about building up complexity and that always takes a bit longer!  I think it will be a really fun exercise and helpful tutorial!

I believe it was sculpted by the french artist Mathurin Moreau.
