dear comrades...
GOOD MORNING (or GOOD EVENING depending on your location...i am just getting to bed and about to head to brisbane in the mornin')
my dear friend maria popova (of brainpickings.org) asked me a few days ago if i would send her a spoken word recording of this amazing poem by ella wheeler wilcox from 1914. it strikes quite a chord today. i recorded it from home on my iphone (not bad, right?) but always think that spoken word / poetry sounds better with music...so i emailed jherek to see if he'd be okay with loaning us some sounds from "cistern" (the new record) and he not only said okay, but he mixed and mastered the fragments together. we used "closer to closure".
here is the whole post:

and since i can, why not...just for you patrons (inclding the $1 folks, because you guys never get anything special in the download department and fuck it, this one is worth giving to everyone just for the goddam message), but again, PLEASE don't share the link with the rest o' the internet.
if you want to put some good back into the world...go listen to the entire song, and the entire ALBUM "cistern" by jherek, it's phenomenal: https://jherekbischoff.bandcamp.com/album/cistern
"therefore ... i do protest."
i love you.
xx

p.s. if you don't already subscribe to/support maria's work, consider it. she's a phenomenal weirdo threading together the threads of life and letters and books.
p.p.s. we had an AMAZING WEBCAST today...one of the best yet, i think, and the new technology and ability to chat with the crowd makes me giddddddy - short notice, but about 100 people tuned in. i'll have an archive link up for everybody shortly. yip.
