hallo loves.

i owe you a much much longer post and it’s coming - and we are working slowly on the monthly Althing post -  but for right now i have a burning questions....

also, quickly: welcome, welcome, WELCOME to all the new patrons.

thank you for being here and joining this beautiful community. i’m so happy you’re here. HI. HEY. welcome.

so to the question.

it seems ive fallen into a new weird community service job here in aotearoa.

a few days ago i was part of a mentorship workshop for teenage girls at local school called woodford house ...

and.... i’m doing a gig across the street tomorrow for another girls’ school called iona college. i’m playing ASSEMBLY at 8 fucking am and they have a piano. i can probably play 2-3 songs. which songs? what did you need to hear when you were 16-17? “map of tasmania is probably not allowed. hit me in the comments. “in my mind” for sure. what else?

hit me with ideas. it’s...tomorrow morning. i can’t believe i have to wake up at 7 AM FOR A GIG. the kidz are werth it.

meanwhile - it’s very nice that all these private schools have reached out and i’m trying to figure out how i can go talk to the public schools (as we would call them in the states). if anyone has hawkes bay connections, hit me.

Which songs did you choose?

Mary Mulligan

Oh yeah, half jack too 💕

I can't wait to hear what you chose. I would do "Girl Anachronism" or "Coin Operated Boy", "Ampersand" or "Astronaut", and "In My Life".

Werewolf in London

Molly McEnerney

I'm too late to help you decide, but I wanted to let you know that when I hard The Ukulele Anthem, I felt like it would have been deeply medicinal to teenage me. I showed the British Library video version to another witch, and she did a spell to send the song back in time to my adolescent self!
