wheeeeee!!!!!!!! **UPDATE on thursday: there are only about 15 spaces left, grab them**

first off, thanks for the CAMP feedback. i think i'm between CAMP AFP, CAMPERSAND, and CAMP INTERMISSION. i'll throw up a vote unless anyone has any last-minute good ideas...

and if we wind up with a camp mascot, like a pony, we can name the pony CAMPERSAND BEETHOVEN.

okay melbourne....

I PROMISED and i fucking made it happen, people.

i have been raving here and there about ice baths and how happy they make me...and now you can join my ass.

giving FIRE AND ICE a whole new meaning....the fine folks at fifth element welness have agreed to let us take over their whole space and do a commjnity ICE BATH!!! all the money will go to pay back the space, then to bushfire charity.

there are only 40 spaces.

obviously i will be there! i will ukulele us as well.....

WHAT IS IT??

it's basically a 90 min-2 hour session - in a yoga studio - where we lie down, breathe deeply while an insuctor leads us, and then you GET IN THE ICE FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT. bring loose, relaxy clothes, a swimsuit and a towel.

the science aside (and there's plenty): IT FEELS AMAZING. AND CLEARS YOUR BRAIN AND IS REALLY GOOD FOR DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND GETTING THE FOG OUT OF YOUR HEART AND SOUL. trust me. just trust me. trust me? trust me!!!

it's also a really great bonding exercise for any community, and we're a community.

SOUND TERRIFYING?

it kind of is. and that's why you do it.

just come. even if you don't get it. just come.

if you really want to go deep, watch this. this documentary on wim hof is how i orginally got into ice bathing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaMjhwFE1Zw

if you come and you're afraid to get in the ice after we do the breathing, there is ZERO judgment!!!! just COME. if you decide not to get in for any reason, or leave for any reason, ALL GOOD. you still tried. you showed up. that's enough!

here's the link for tickets.....these are for patrons only, but if there are any left, i'll take it to social media.

feel free to bring a non-patron friend, that's fine. again, there are only 40 spaces, strict.

SUNDAY, MARCH 8th (this is the day of the bushfire benefit at the forum! the forum benefit is ALL SOLD OUT hooray.)

starts at 12 pm, should be done by about 2/2:30 pm (i gotta soundcheck!).

tickets...here is the link. people were having trouble so they made a new one.

or just phone them. pretend its the 90s!!! talk to somebody !!! it’s your worst fear, millennials ! almost worse than an ice bath !!

you can call 5th element at 94868600 if you have any booking issues.

I CANNOT WAIT TO DO THIS WITH YOU WEIRDOS!!!!

Eeeep!! Just called and saved my place. It's gonna be my first ice bath I'm scared and excited. I've built up to 3 minutes cold shower over last 4 weeks to try and get a start on it. ❤❤ can't think of a better time or place for my first smaller patreon meet up!

Amaaaaaandaaaaaa. How dare you. I would be so keen but I'm gonna be in Tassie 7th - 10th. Boo. I'll just have to jump in the Tasmanian water instead. Hope it goes amazingly!

Can’t make it as I work pretty much 7 days in me beloved Gatehouse but go go ice bath friends! 💜🥰💜

This sounds like fantastical scary goodness... I’m a local who has been staring at this post for the last 3 hours wondering if I could overcome: 1. The freeze! 2. Going it alone despite sometimes debilitating social anxiety (sometimes totally not though, so maybe?!) 3. Doing things that already terrify me... with a hero present. Sorry Amanda, I’ve been lucky enough to see you play and speak a gajillion times but if you ever look my way, I’m usually staring at the ground. I wouldn’t want to spoil a perfectly zen/therapeutic/cathartic experience for all by bringing some tremendously awkward fangirl-in-headlights type energy along... Or maybe the madness of this ice bath business would surpass all those other things and everything would be ok?! 😛 Just wanted to comment and say on behalf of those undecided or perhaps a bit too scared, go Amanda and The Ice Champions go!! I’ve been a pretty quiet member of this community, but you all astound me with your bravery and empathy on the regular so I’ll be there in spirit either way! ❤️ Rant over.

I’m so behind on these posts so this might not be the right place to write this but I am just finally listening to the Bushfire charity flash record and it’s gorgeous and I’m proud to continue to support this beautiful art. ❤️ Thank you

Kathryn Drew

Please do this in Christchurch!!!!

Weirdly I did an ice bath the day after your Friday night union chapel in London. It was amazing. Great for the immune system too! Have fun y’all. I could use one right about now. My mama died a week ago. I’m lucky to get any kind of bath at the mo. 💔🦋

Aw! Thanks Shannon, I was thinking of you all today and I’m determined to come along to whatever the next patron community event is! My nervousness definitely played a part in it, but I also realised over the last few days that I’m desperately far behind in an assessment due this week so my fate was sealed... Hope to catch ya in future :) x

My friend Alex Yan and his partner are offering the following to help out artists in Seattle. Please share: A note from Lowdown Ballroom: ⚠️ COVID-19 NOTICE ⚠️ We have been thinking about ways to help folks during this challenging time. Aside from sanitizing the space on a regular basis (and setting out sanitizing spray for our renters to use -- please do!), we wondered if there was something more we can do, especially considering that many are suffering a great deal financially due to cancelled gigs. We've started seeing musicians live-stream performances in an effort to earn some money. If you are interested in doing that yourself, you are welcome to do this in our Ballroom any time that it's not already booked, free of charge. We have a fairly speedy internet connection and microphones (3), a 12-channel mixer, various adaptors for your devices, and, of course, space. We also have a iphone tripod, and an ipod tripod for your filming needs! Our curtains make for a beautiful backdrop, as well! Check our availability calendar on the **bottom** of our website's booking page, and shoot us an email at lowdownballroom@gmail.com to request a spot: https://www.lowdownballroom.com/bookings/new Many people we know are using Facebook Live to stream their performances, and Facebook Payments to receive donations. Patreon is another option that creatives use to supplement their income: https://www.patreon.com/ You can leverage the platform to gain followers who subscribe to your page and pay a monthly fee -- this can mean more regular income, rather than burst of tips/donations. It takes a bit more set-up and thought about what you offer your subscribers, but might be worth it! Stay healthy! Alex & Madeline Yan
