hallo my loves

i’m sleepless and disoriented and happy and tired — sort for the lack of communication but it’s been balls to the wall. or ovaries to the blackboard. whatever you wanna call it.

here’s a shot from backstage last night taken by my costume designer andrea lauer:

i’m also losing my voice gradually and fighting off the cold that finally came (dammit) and so doing my morning voicerambles has been harder.

i just landed in DETROIT to play on “live from here”. this show, which used to be called “prairie home companion” is a bucket-list NPR radio moment for me.

if you’re anywhere near a radio or internet, please listen !!!

here is ALL the info:

the show airs live at 6pm EST on NPR stations, siriusxm radio and on the Live From Here website, click the link below to find your station:

https://www.livefromhere.org/listen/stations

video and show recordings go up on their site afterwords:

http://livefromhere.org

on the bottom of the website you’ll see icons for different ways to listen to the show on the podcast player of your choice.

...

i only got about 4 hours sleep last night. here is the beautiful newark airport marriott:

the show was ... hard to explain.

so hard.

so good.

too long.

needs trimming.

but i think i now know what i have to do.

i’m scared to do it. which is exactly why i am going to.

i’ll tell you more later. when i’m not a zombie.

I are brilliant. I have a ticket for Joe’s Pub tomorrow and the only reason I remembered is because I came to catch up on Patreon. Glad I figured it out before my train left for NY...

You rocked it! Cold and all. 🙏 for your quick recovery. We’re all catching colds/just got over a cold🙋🏻‍♀️/in the middle of full on cold, so you have many people that sympathize and we are all wondering how the hell you held that note for so long! 🙇🏻‍♀️

Damn! Didn't see this till too late to listen. But...available on website?

I like Chris Thile so much. His mandolin playing has personality enough that you can tell it's him playing. His record How To Grow a Woman From The Ground is mesmerizing. I'm very happy for you, gonna listen right now on my way to work

Amanda, this might be a really dumb request but could you make a video showing how you put up your hair? I really love the look and I'm terrible at doing hair so I need guidance :)

I hope you heal quickly, touring with a cold cannot be fun.

so good. but like the engines of a plane coming to full throttle, and balancing the plane off as it gears up from the flight strip, it thunders till it reaches cruising! Buckled in for your lift-off, and soon up to speed full flight! :D

I have been listening to Prairie Home Companion for almost 30 years! So glad to hear YOU on it and proud too! Sent a text to my amazing sister and daughter and a friend or two to tune in. You were eloquent as usual. :)

You know, when I was in high school, I remember thinking "I'll never hear Amanda Palmer on the radio" and boy, did you happily prove me wrong on Saturday.

Really enjoyed your performances on "Live From Here" -- just got around to listening to it online. I'll confess that I skipped through the episode and just listened to your songs. Really looking forward to the tour. I think I've convinced my wife to come to the SF show as my +1 (she and I share almost no music in common, so I nearly always go to concerts with one of her friends instead, but I've been talking a lot about your new record and she's gotten pretty curious about it). Hope the cold clears up quickly!

Soooo good!!!

Amanda the whole show was really pleasant. I don't know if you have this ability... can you thing your "Live From Here" => drowning in the sound? ... The ending was incredible.
