(strictly patron-only)

hallo my loves!

i hinted, now i DO!!!

since i'm in london with neil & ash for the month of may but NOT playing a london show, i figured this would be a great time to try out an experiment i've been wanting to do since starting the patreon (and that i'm excited to replicate in other cities where i have enough patrons, like chicago, new york, boston, LA, SF, melbourne, sydney, edinburgh, etc etc).

so, drumrolll....i am putting on a SUPER-SPECIAL, SUPER-SECRET, AFP-PATRON-ONLY LONDON THROW-DOWN!!!

friends, a beautiful bar, performers, gin, love galore, necessary community mind-hugs, the whole nine.

DO NOT SHARE THE TICKET LINK/PASSWORD WITH THE PUBLIC PLEASE.

the tickets are for PATRONS ONLY and i kept them super-cheap (the event will hopefully - just barely - break even after i've paid for all the space costs/performers etc) and this is not only a chance to reward all you beautiful folks, but it's a chance for you all to mix with and meet one another.

so, the space...after our success doing pretty-much-patron-only fun stuff at Her Upstairs Cabaret, i decided to find a bigger space for us to play.

last june, i went to see an immersive production of "the great gatsby" in a beautiful custom-built theatrical space. i went with neil, and penn jillette (of penn and teller) of all weirdos, and a few others, and i IMMERSED. i danced while neil hid somewhere making sure he did not get danced with.....

the show was just gorgeous, and filled with nooky spaces and delight and intrigue and surprise (and it's STILL RUNNING, you can get tickets here...)

here are some photos from the internet....

....needless to say, i was quite thrilled.

i was mostly thrilled by THIS photo that i took...i forget why i had this newspaper, or maybe it wasn't my newspaper but someone else's but anyway, this newspaper was on a table and i picked it up and the poetry was too good not to photograph, what with everyone standing there in their 20's flapper clothes and all...

ANYWHOO.

you see - this space is just fucking amazing.

i've been in talks with the leader of the gatsby show, alexander from the Guild of Misrule, and expressed my love for the space, and one thing led to another and....I RENTED IT. to have a party for us.

so you must come.

if you are in one of the guest list tiers and want a guest list spot for this show, email hayley ASAP (here's a reminder on how to request tickets). the space is tiny and is likely to sell out, so get your guest list requests in by the end of next week if you can.

so far on the line up we have the following confirmed guests...and MORW may well happen.

i will play (of course).

AND and AND...

andrew o'neill (who is opening up for my whole UK/IRE tour) will do stuffs...

and....our fave drag queen, Meth (from Her Upstairs) will be performing (and possibly some other fabulous queens....you may recognize them if you were at any of the teeny tiny shows at Her Upstairs last fall)....

AND....my old friend Max Melton is going to bring us a little tidbit of his new project, which I am very happy to amplify right here because it's happening in the UK right now:

Mercury & Maxim present ‘Queerstory: The Music Hall’

Queerstory is a musical cabaret about the history of queer culture and queer identity. From the coded languages of forbidden desire to the modern fight for equality in gender identity, Queerstory sees international cabaret artiste Mercury and musical academic Maxim Melton collaborate to ask the question - What does it mean to be queer?

Think polari patter songs, vintage protest anthems, and a rather thorough examination of the hanky code...

It’s premiering for one night only, on May 8th, as part of ‘The Spark Factory’, Spun Glass Theatre’s curated programme of new performances.

For the Brighton show... It’s a little confusing to get tickets for this performance as the info is a little buried... this is the link
https://sw.tickets.red61.com/performances.php?eventId=18:1685

And then our show is the TUESDAY 8th performance at 9pm listed as Spark Factory at Sweet Werks venue.

...........

BOOM.

here's the deets for the show:

may 22nd at gatsby's drugstore in london, uk
doors: 6:30pm (come on time!! entertainment starts @ 7pm)

AGAIN, please don't share this link on social media. this show is patrons. of course, bring friends, significant others, etc, who aren't patrons, we aren't making this strict. but please don't share this ticket link with people who aren't supporting the patreon. that only means that real patrons will be fucked out of tickets, and that is Not Nice.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS.

LET US ENJOY EACH OTHER.

God I wish I could go! 😩 One day I will have a job/income that will allow me to travel to these amazing events. One day. Sigh.

So as soon as I read that you were planning this show and are planning to only break even, Um, I felt really upset. I’ve followed you a long time, and you do alot for the fans. ALOT. You give ALOT. Everyone wants this, but I don’t want it to hurt you to do it. So, I wanted to ask, can I put monies towards this show cost specifically, to make sure you can do this how you want, without having to sacrifice? I cant make this show, but I am interested in helping fund it specifically so other people can enjoy your art as you are best capable. I bet other people might be into this too. Funding a show we may not be able to go to, so others can have the best time, like I had at your recent Portland show. Help me help you. Anyone else be into something like this? An extra credit (pun intended) donation for secret shows? I just want to help!

This is so awesome! Hoping for a chance like this in SF someday, fingers crossed.

You are an awesome person. Just thought someone should mention it. xxx

So glad you are going to do more of these. Is there a way I can get some forward notice of anything in Melbourne? Being a person with disabilities means lots of pre-planning to travel and go out. Hopefully you will book a place that is accessible. I've been listening to you since 2003-2004ish?? and I was an erratic, almost lurker on the Shadow Box and I've made it to a lot of shows but I always miss out on the personal interactions due to my own fucked-up-edness and I want to change that and at least get to say hello in person! Alex suggested pre-contact might help make it happen...

Ah! SO SUPER bummed I missed out on tickets! I’m going to be in Norwich visiting my family (from Phoenix, where I live) during this time, and I got so excited that I’d be able to see you while I’m there! Alas, it was not to be. Sounds like it’s going to be a helluva time, and I’m super jealous of anyone who got tickets!!

I bought tickets for Birmingham thinking it was today only to realise it was yesterday and I missed it. Genuinely depressed about this, cost me more than I could really afford and all for nothing. Hope you can return to the uk again in the future and that I can manage not to fuck it up. xx

What a fecking blast that would be. Have a great night all you lucky patrons. <3
