HALLO ALL!

super quick one...

first off, welcome to almost TWO HUNDRED NEW PATRONS (!!!!) - this shit is on fire!!!!! since the patreon has been getting so much traffic in the last few days and since the public continues to scratch their heads about the system (it is a little confusing, especially to explain the "caps"), i'm doing a reddit AMA ("ask me anything") RIGHT NOW!!!

come and join the fun or just watch me go.

i'll probably be online there for the next two hours, at least.

there's a lot of explaining to do.

and seriously, feel free to weigh in and help me explain things!!! you guys know how to use the system - HELP THA PEOPLE.

it's HERE:

https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/87iomm/i_am_amanda_palmer_ask_me_anything_about_patreon/

you need to make an account to ask a question, but it's free and takes 30 seconds (and reddit is pretty great anyway, you might enjoy your account long after this is over).

No questions, just wanted to send you some sparkles and brightness, you mad lovely conglomeration of a human! You bring smiles, every time, no matter whether they are upward or downward, sometimes even inward pointing ones...:)

Hope to see you smile again, someday. Because your art gives me power and so many good moments. <3

Sorry I missed this...I was spinning one plate too many at the day job, survived it all for another day, not a single plate dropped, and even finished my lunch! I hope you had a good Q&A. Love!

I missed it..? Damn time differences... LONG SHOT, but gonna ask here: Patreon works from what I can tell, reasonably well for musicians, film-folk, even webcomic makers - but how do you think it might work for prose? I ask because I do make some comics, but I've been toying with setting one up and having one of the aspects be that Patrons can have an e-suggestion box and vote for more of a story/character they like and new "things" can alternate between my random creations based on my whims and those requested and those paying a higher amount get to count as a request instead of a suggestion (or something..? I don't know for sure yet...) Don't know if I'll get an answer but if not, will try and be on time next time something like this happens! Cheers Amanda (and all the family)

Dang it, I am checking in from blissful vacation with zero WiFi or data roaming in my mountain cottage where my OLD LADY (man, did that post hit home) priorities are refueling to continue to fight for democracy after some serious unplugging. I'm considering the $25 Patreon tier because I can but it's a lot of dough. I am seriously considering another travel investment in my older lady with fair means to Edinburgh in August, because I do not believe Florida is on your list and all I really need is a fair excuse to travel abroad in my daughter's second week of third grade. Is this selfish? Anyway, I am sorry I missed your Reddit and I'm living vicariously through your journey to continue to be creative while marriage-ing and mother-ing and marveling at your stamina. Go AFP, go.

From my own experience? I ran a writing-based Patreon for all of last year as a bit of a one off, and although I had some issues with it that were based on my own ineptitude - I have to say that unless you've already got a fan-base that's committed to a constant support structure, it's tough. I think it'll work easier with a comic structure (see Questionable Content for some ideas!) though! Good luck!

I won't be able to see you preform on 4/4 in NYC because I am working that night. I was wondering if it would be possible for you to preform on Staten Island in the St. George Theatre next time you are planning a show in NYC.
