Hello!

I'm finally done! I don't know what I was thinking trying to make this, but I sure am glad to be finished. And I really hope you enjoy it. To quote Dean Pelton from Community:

"What I'm about to show you is not the commercial you paid me to create. What I am about to show you is a glimpse into my mind and soul. Please hold your questions until the end. I know you will have a lot of them, but I'll understand if you'd rather I just leave."

i never expected to see bill wurtz in a captain d video

Anonymous

Nice of Sir Martyn Poliakoff to make a guest appearance.

Anonymous

That was so good! I was worried you were going to mimic Kurzgesagt which would require many sleepless night! Really great!

Anonymous

It blows my mind how you keep one-upping yourself with every single video! Brilliant! But the fact that Destin's binary clock wasn't animated totally ripped me out of the immersion

Ginny Higerd

Great video. You outdid yourself again.

SovietWomble

I love it. Fantastic work :)

Anonymous

Superb! Educational and hilarious!

Anonymous

Really loved this one Big D!

Anonymous

The best Big D I've ever seen! (I'm sorry. Seriously, though, fantastic episode, Captain.)

Anonymous

Holy shit! You popped off on this one.

Anonymous

And now for something completely different...

Anonymous

Could you stop being the best YouTube channel, this is making it harder for the rest of the Internet to catch up. Amazing job can't wait for the public to see this.

Anonymous

Hey, it's my favorite youtube channel! Hey, wait, it's my other favorite youtube channel! And the other one too! This was very very awesome.

Richard Bairwell

Didn't quite get Tom right : I didn't realise who you were meant to be until the t-shirt was mentioned.. Every single one of those channels I already subscribe to!

Anonymous

Amazing, as usual! You're an inspiration to creativity itself.

Anonymous

Wowwww. Well done, sir, though I have issues with your Tom Scott impression until you called attention to the red shirt and ONE TAKE! That being said I yelled, "YESSS!" when the SED portion came up! Seriously though. Fantastic work all around. Can anybody help me with a list of what styles he's tipping his hat to? There are a few I didn't get. 1: Seems familiar, can't name it. 2: bill wurtz, "history of japan" and related videos. 3: CGP Grey. 4: Tom Scott. 5: Filmmaker IQ? Probably not but it's the closest I've got. 6: Destin Sandlin, Smarter Every Day. ...OH if only I'd stuck around to the end. Well hey, did anybody else guess one wrong? That being said: Captain D, you referenced a lot of greats here. But know that you're one of the YouTube educational space greats too and wouldn't be out of place in someone else's similarly themed mashup!

Anonymous

nice impersonations

Anonymous

Just genius. Especially the final shot! Also learnt something. Have yourself a cookie.

Anonymous

How do your videos keep getting better?? If you keep this up, eventually you'll have to burn out, like witches.

Anonymous

BRILLIANT STUFF!

Anonymous

Prof Sir Martyn Poliakoff was great too, including Brady Haran off screen

Anonymous

Wow. That is all.

Anonymous

That was fantastic.

Anonymous

That is just.... awesome! Nice touch with off screen Brady and Tom being happy because of 'one take' :)

Anonymous

Wow. The goofs and gafs and skill in this vid is perfect! Hope this goes viral

Anonymous

What a great way to bring in more viewers. One of my favs Cap!

Anonymous

OH MY GODS IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT

Anonymous

Your best video yet. Amazing, hilarious, and somehow still informative.

Anonymous

Crazy, Educational, and just fantastic parody / homage to the other Youtubers.

Anonymous

Masterpiece!

Anonymous

Daaaaaaaaamn Big D, Killin it!

Anonymous

I almost expected to see you as the hydrolic press channel guy in there too. :-) Fantastic video!!

Anonymous

I'm old, so I probably didn't get that you were parodying other Youtubers because I just don't know many of them. It only hit me when you did the Smarter Every Day guy. Then I was like... Oooohhhhhhhh. Amazing video as always though. Glad to be a meager supporter.

Anonymous

Amazing video!! Keep up the good work!

Anonymous

This was amazing, I'm not sure if I should be proud or worried that I recognised all but one of the parodies. Thanks for the great work as always

Anonymous

I just couldn't believe your attention to detail, even on the TMZ Article! More Youtube Drama... BIG D REGRETS 'CORPS PUNCHING CHALLENGE' VIDEO As 12 More Harassment Accusations Surface "I'm not that guy anymore." 3/11/2023 If his recent Nazi rally appearances didn't raise eyebrows. His latest video certainly did. [While wearing not]thing but a red thong, Youtube megastar Big D pranced around several high [profile funerals assaulting multiple bodies as they lay in rest [?]] ... what he gleefully refers to as "Celebrity Corps Punching [Challenge.' [?]]... I'd love to see original TMZ mockup image used in the video. How much more did you write Alan? Wonderful video, your tone and cadence in the impressions were what sold it for me and my favorite part was that their lines were written in their tone. How involved were you with each of them or did you just get them to take backplates of their sets? So many questions for such an impressive production! You are killing it right now!

Anonymous

I laughed at the code

Anonymous

This has to be your best video yet. This is why I'm your patron. This is why I'll stay your patron. Keep being awesome

Anonymous

It was 100% worth the wait!

Hoder Erroneus Jensen

Amazing! Good job D, totally worth the wait and don't stress about it :)

Anonymous

I wasn't quite sure at first, but when a sudden Tom Scott parody appeared, it clicked in my head, and I had to start over to really catch all the small things throughout! Worth it!

Anonymous

I clicked what was going on when you got to the Tom Scott spoof. Nice :-D.

Anonymous

Brilliant video, Cap! It was a blast to watch, so I'id the pain to finish it was worth it! :)

Anonymous

Great video! Loved the Bill Wurtz parts!

Anonymous

This was super awesome! Really fun to watch and honestly comedy gold. Despite having a smaller knowledge in the world of video editing and not understanding most of the vocabulary it's just always a pleasure to watch. And makes me laugh

Anonymous

Loving and lovely. Thank you.

Anonymous

Amazing work, CD! This was well worth the wait and I'll be rewatching (several times!) do try to catch the insanely complex layering of details you've put in this one. And the parodies are genius :-D

Anonymous

awesome how you perfectly captured the styles

Anonymous

This is pure gold. I always knew you've got your quality bar set high, but I never imagined it could go all the way that you went with this material. Wow, just wow!

Skazka

im fucking dying dude

Anonymous

It's PERFECT

Anonymous

I also didn't click in till the Tom Scott reference.

Anonymous

This is by far my absolute favorite video you've ever done.

Anonymous

I thought I saw a Numberphile video possessing you, too. Brady isn't worth a subscription?

Anonymous

That was periodic videos, another channel that Brady produces

Anonymous

Amazing video. You keep managing to come up with great stuff.

Anonymous

Could not stop laughing. Great work, Cap!

Anonymous

Hahaha cap awesome video, on the next don't forget the Electro Boom Channel

Anonymous

This one is real masterpiece.

Steve

All the channels he did an homage to were named at the end of the video. The first one was periodic videos, and my favorite of the impressions

Steve

This was damn ambitious, and you pulled it off amazingly well. The scripting and style parodying was excellent! The impressions were mostly so, but I thought the Michael from V sauce one could have been better. I laughed a bunch, and was impressed with the depth and level of detail, as usual, Alan. Keep up the great work!

Anonymous

Oh. My. God. Wow. You've outdone yourself.

Anonymous

So good, well done.

Anonymous

This might be the greatest thing I ever saw. Didn't realize what was happening at first but then.. Very well done impressions!

Anonymous

Dear lord, that was a trip! This one’s BIG!

Anonymous

Worth the wait! Great video!

Anonymous

there goes another master showoff of skills

Anonymous

It’s 2:30am and I should be sleeping but instead I’m stifling my laughter and punching the bed at each tribute gag. I think I’m gonna up my pledge. Hope this blows up on reddit.

Anonymous

The rest of my family is still asleep, and I let out a loud, goofy laugh at "they burn, like witches." How in the hell did you manage to replicate everyone so accurately?

Anonymous

What??!? Fun AND educational?! Whooda thunk it possible? Well, you did of course, Cap'n. Great vid. Glad to support.

CaptainDisillusion

Thank you all for the kind comments and notes! With the more complicated videos, as the days stretch on, I lose all perspective on what I'm doing and just hope it will make sense after I'm done tracing fingers frame by frame or whatever. I'm glad the finished product seems to have the general vibe I was aiming for!

Anonymous

I wish I could like this one (both here and on YouTube) multiple times. Had to freeze frame when the source code fragment scrolled up, and it was well worth it for the gags found therein.

Anonymous

I really loved this episode. I got a kick out of seeing you do segments of the video in various styles other YouTubers use. I've been a long time fan, and decided to finally use Patreon to help support your work. Thanks for being awesome and making good stuff!

Anonymous

can't believe I missed all the references, especially Tom Scott and CPG Grey!!

Anonymous

Awesome. The Tom Scott parody. So good.

Anonymous

Is that your original "accent"? Awesome as ever!

Anonymous

This is your best video ever!

Anonymous

So good

Anonymous

That smarter everyday impression was brutal and spot on.

Anonymous

Going after Blender Guru? Seriously? Well, that won you a subscriber :). I love Andrew and his tutorials and I love the way he responded in the comments.

Anonymous

This video did it for me. How could I justify continuing to enjoy your work without becoming a patron? So here I am! The little touches and effort blow me away every time. You don't even know how good you are.

Anonymous

Worth. Every. Penny.

Anonymous

Wow, I see this video took you over the top of your $10,000 goal. Well done!

Chris Strommer

Fantastic video as usual, Captain! Does anybody know where the "chroma key effect", thats featured in this episode, is in AE? I want to try it out myself but cant find it. Any help would be appreciated!

Anonymous

This is comedy gold! New patron for that

Anonymous

This is definitely my favourite video of yours yet, loved all the references, especially Sir Martyn, haha "When I was a small boy" Keep it up mate, I look forward to your coming work! :D

Anonymous

Became Patron because of this one! Great content, as always.

Oh my god the Bill Wurtz bit killed me i am dead
