Hiii Sorry for the silence! As you can imagine - this last week at work is HELL

Clue goes up tomorrow BUT help me choose what is next!

For March - I wanted to play off of March Madness - but not sports, MADNESS in general.

Comments

Alexis Callagan

Dang I can’t even vote this time, I’ve only seen one of these

Gio Vidrio

I would say Mad Mad Mad Mad World, but movie is damn near 3 hours long, and I don’t know if you wanna go through that. Other than that, it’s hilarious, but I gotta give it to Cuckoo’s Nest.

Anonymous

I'm unfamiliar with ruthless people, but those are some solid choices

James Moyner

I hope if you do watch Mad World it will be the restored 197 minute cut. The film was dubbed The Comedy to End All Comedies!

Anonymous

Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World! It’s long, but it’s such an epic comedy!

T.J. Gengler

Vote logged but if it's madness you want then DR STRANGELOVE is the prime example.

Billy Dancel

With Stir Crazy you get to see Gene Wilder again!

Anonymous

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is a total waste of time. It is over-long and out-dated. At best, it's a curiousity but only if you know a lot about comedic actors of the era. I say don't bother.

Bill Staley

All are good movies and completely different. I chose One who flew for a couple reason. 1. You like the actress who plays Ratchet in the new series. Which is a SJW version that has nothing to do with the movie or book. 2. It's ranked as one of the top movies every made. 3. While Mad mad mad is more fun since you don't know any of the allatar cast in it. You may not enjoy it aa much.

Anonymous

Stir Crazy is amazing

Edward Olson

She can do it in two parts. She definitely needs to see It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. It's long but there has never been a faster paced comedy EVER.

Mark Finley

There is a Michael Keaton comedy called "the Dream team" with an all star cast that seems to fit the bill of what you're looking for. You would like it. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is BRUTAL. Great film, but a very heavy subject

Anonymous

I was mentioning "Hear no Evil, See no Evil", with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, the other day, but "Stir Crazy" is a good one too. Oh, and "Ernest Scared Stupid." HA!

Tony Williams

Ha, I've been thinking of suggesting Stir Crazy so this worked out pretty well for me.

Edward Olson

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO THE RESTORED CUT. It's actually incomplete with sections that are stills/set photos because they lost some footage. Some sections are work print quality. The restored cut is for completionists and film buffs and historians. P.S. I own the restored cut.

Eric Frazee

Silver Streak is a better Gene Wilder/Richard Pryor movie. Love it! Great soundtrack too

T.J. Gengler

I mostly agree with this. Being able to recognize the actors in the film and and already knowing why they're important helps but there's still some chuckles to be had without that knowledge. Just not very many to fill three hours.

Anonymous

I like three of these. Hard choice to pick. One is a little different that the other two I have seen. So I voted for it. I haven't seen Ruthless People.

Anonymous

Love and hate this poll. Love every movie listed, hate having to choose. Went with Stir Crazy but I hope Ashleigh will eventually do them all.

Anonymous

As much as I love "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World," it's a long, slow comedy that hinges on knowing the main comedians and ALL of the cameos to fully appreciate it. "Stir Crazy" is a great pick, especially since if you like it you can watch "Silver Streak" at some point! Oh, and seconding Mark Finley's recommendation of "The Dream Team." "We are all NAKED in the eyes of the Lord!"

Anonymous

You ain't kidding! Love me some Slim Pickens. The first movie that comes to mind when you say madness is A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

Edward Olson

Everything about your 1. has nothing to do with the movie. About 3. Ashleigh doesn't know anyone in ANY movie (just about).

Eric Frazee

For the crazy theme- Mel Brooks film High Anxiety. I know you like Mel. Not in the same league as Blazing saddles or Young Frankenstein but fun.

Anonymous

Cuckoo's Nest is a great film. It might bring you down a bit tho. I turned off Mad, Mad World halfway thru, got bored. Ruthless People and Stir Crazy are both v funny, but I picked Cuckoo's Nest coz I think you'd "give it" to young Jack Nicholson

Anonymous

The Dream Team is hilarious. Perer Boyle was great in this movie.

Anonymous

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World has more movie, small screen, and stage stars per capita than any other movie ever. It could lead to years worth of movie suggestions. Yes, it's long. Yes, Ashleigh won't know any actors. But it's funny and shows what can truly turn people mad! Plus, no one else has done a reaction to the movie on YouTube.

Jill Peterson

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is one of my top 10 films of all time. Everyone is so young. Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, Louise Fletcher... Amazing! I can't even tell you how many times I've watched it. I was four when this came out.

Anonymous

That's another kind of madness with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a truer movie classic for sure... it might inspire me to watch Ratched on netlix now o.o

iamrman82

I have only ever seen It's a Mad Mad Mad World, so I had to go for that one.

Jill Peterson

Suggestions for March Madness: 1990's Crazy People 1986's One Crazy Summer

Anonymous

There are some sports movies that are good even if you don't care for sports (i don't). THE NATURAL, WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP, THE SANDLOT, A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, FIELD OF DREAMS and MAJOR LEAGUE. FIELD OF DREAMS is my favorite of these.

Anonymous

I understand if you watch Cuckoo's Nest, it's a classic, but OMG Ruthless People is one of my FAVORITE comedies that I think you would enjoy! BTW, I love the "Madness" theme!

Anonymous

I've never seen Ruthless People. I don't know why. Great actors and it's a Abrahams, Zucker movie.

Anonymous

Mad Mad Mad Mad World is one of my favorites!

Anonymous

It’s A Mad Mad World is boring for a comedy but it gave me a nice nap. Ruthless People is a pretty ok movie.

Anonymous

I definitely enjoyed One Crazy Summer. Better Off Dead was another one I liked with John Cuisak (sp?).

Anonymous

Off topic. I’d love to see your reaction to “This is Spinal Tap”.

Anonymous

Oops I just sent you one flu over the cuckoo's nest from Amazon. I also sent you a letter that explains why I send it to you

Bob Criswell

I know Ruthless people won't win but I love that movie because it's sleeper hit. It's got lots of stars in it. Even a Millennial might recognize most of them.

Eric Janssen

While It's a Mad^4 World fits the title, it's a MESS: Three hours long, and two of that is wacky cross-country driving. It's literally as if they made "Cannonball Run" in the sitcom 50's/60's.

Eric Janssen

MUCH better than Stir Crazy. I remember we pretty much went to that one just for the "Yeah, we bad" scene, and nobody ever quoted anything else from it.

Eric Janssen

How about...Mad Max? :) (Ie., the '79 original, Road Warrior or Thunderdome, since the overpraised Movie Everyone Saw in Theaters and Thinks Is the Only One doesn't fit the "Millennial' theme. Personally, I'd give an 80's nudge to Thunderdome, but I know I'm in the minority.)

Anonymous

Some comedy recomendations from back in my day. Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Can't Buy Me Love, Splash, The Sure Thing, Risky Business, Coming to America, The Jerk, Raising Arizona, Real Genius, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Big Trouble in Little China, Caddyshack, Better Off Dead, Vacation (1983), Trading Places, Bull Durham, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off , Major League.

Edward Olson

She already reacted to Raising Arizona (didn't love) and Caddyshack (did love).

Edward Olson

I disagree. Knowing who the actors are isn't needed to get any of the comedy or story. There are a few meta moments where the casting is an inside joke, but it's not like, oh, this movie is 60 years old so no one should ever watch it again. That would be ridiculous.

Be Kind

Oh, sweet Jesus, I can breathe again! 🤗

Edward Olson

"Mess" is not a word that describes MMMM World. It's very brilliantly organized and edited.

Be Kind

Okay, seriously ... WOW! Way to subvert expectations on the madness theme. It’s brilliant!! And the choices are fab-u-lous! 🎶 One of these is not like the others but in a league almost all by itself. It’s 1 of only 3 films in the history of the Oscars to win all 5 major categories. A must-see. My mom and I would watch Mad World on NYE. I barely remember it. I’d be curious to see if it holds up. Stir Crazy wouldn’t win any awards, but Gene Wilder shines. I still remember his best bits, and I haven’t seen it since it opened. Ruthless was a surprise hit. Very clever and you really like the main star. Perfect casting.

Anonymous

I voted for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest because it’s one that I am embarrassed to always say *I* haven’t seen! Maybe this will get me to watch it.

Anonymous

A really MAD, and brilliant, movie is "Brazil" from 1985. ;-)

Bob Criswell

I should note that I DID vote for it even though it's a dark horse. I'm glad others are voting for it too.

Be Kind

I’m assuming we’ll have more movies in March and the madness theme will cover the whole month? If correct, might I suggest a different kind of madness ... like the serial killer kind? SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991) Thriller/Horror Why not get both those Oscar babies in one month? C’mon, you know you want to. Even if you don’t think so now, once you see it, you’ll be like, “Yeah, I FOR SURE wanted to see that.”

Anonymous

All of these are good picks! One Flew is some of Jack Nicholson's best work, imho--it's an emotional roller coaster though. If you would rather have a good laugh, you should definitely go with Stir Crazy :)

Be Kind

Another award-winning film is APOCALYPSE NOW (1979). Sure it’s a war film, but it’s also about madness in the strictest sense of the word. Being driven mad in the loosest sense of the word would be: FATAL ATTRACTION (1987) Thriller/Drama OFFICE SPACE (1999) Dark Comedy WHAT ABOUT BOB? (1991) Comedy

Anonymous

March Madness? Awesome, I recommend 12 Monkeys, Bruce Willis and Bad Pitts finest work, directed by Terry Gilliam (of Monty Python fame).

Eric Janssen

Okay, we NEED someone in the Reactor-verse to finally do Psycho II. It's that good. Since she already did the original last year, she's all set with backstory.

Anonymous

cuckoo's nest is one of my favs. Nicholson's best performance imho. And watch for Louise Fletcher's performance that garnered her a well-deserved Oscar.

Anonymous

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad world is one of the funniest movies ever made.

David Crabtree

Not a fan of any of those choices, but here are some recommendations: What About Bob, the Dream Team, a Time To Kill

Eric Janssen

If you think things being chaotically smashed is funny, it is. If you think a LOT of things being chaotically smashed for very LONG stretches of time isn't, it isn't.

Michael Buhl

There are no losing options here. I picked It's a Mad Mad Mad World, but I could just as easily picked One Frew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Stir Crazy is also great. I don't think I've seen Ruthless People, but hey, it's got Danny DeVito.

Anonymous

One Frew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is definitely the next choice, but Ruthless People is a great movie -- one of my favourites. (Love Bette Midler.)

Edward Olson

Psycho was one of her lowest-viewed reactions. Not much reason for people to watch Psycho II no matter how good it may or may not be. It wasn't even Hitchcock. No famous dialogue. Not a part of pop culture apart from its relation to the first one.

christopher brown

Another movie is Pink Floyd The Wall (1992) for March Musical Madness

Foggy

Titanic is a MUST if you haven’t already seen it. James Cameron directed. A young Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. It’s so good!

Edward Olson

I think people should stop bashing movies they don't like that obviously other people do like. You don't have to like every movie Ashleigh watches. It doesn't help to be so negative about a movie. I also don't like the use of some offensive pejorative terms used in peoples' comments today.

Be Kind

You have a way w/words. Your nonchalant slam of Mad World while also seemingly very appreciative of a much-needed nap is hilarious, as is your completely mediocre praise of Ruthless. I laughed for a solid minute. 🤣

Anonymous

Ruthless People has Danny Devito and Bette Midler and is very funny. Plot is basically wife of rich man gets kidnapped for ransom, husband refuses to pay because he hates his wife. Won't give away more than that.

Anonymous

What about Bob! It's perfect for this theme

JayF

All of those are good movies. My top two picks would be Stir Crazy and Ruthless People which are both hilarious.

Be Kind

That’s one of her hubben’s favs, and probably one they would watch together on the channel. She might be saving it for April for the anniversary of its sinking.

Anonymous

You want to get nuts? Ok. Let’s get nuts! Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) A Clockwork Orange (1971) Misery (1990) Jacob’s Ladder (1990) Dressed to Kill (1980)

Danika Silva

Ace Ventura, me, myself and Irene, continue lethal weapon series, tank, aeon flux, ultraviolet, legend of the drunken master, apple dumpling gang 1 & 2, naked gun , airplane, caveman, Encino man, 🤔😏

Be Kind

Have to give it to you again, Ashleigh. Absolutely BRILLIANT to have one theme that potentially encompasses diff genres. A variety of films in one month would be👨‍🍳😘, and if it’s in your future plans, bravo! 👏

Anonymous

Cuckoo's Nest. It doesn't get much nuttier than that. Brilliant acting by all the cast.

Be Kind

Oooh, Misery — YES! Def fits the bill. “I’m your biggest fan.”

Eric Janssen

Oh, we WISH! Unfortunately, it's hard enough to chop a musical with dialogue down for YouTube to avoid copyright, let alone rock operas without dialogue. Musicals are possible on Patreon, if it's a watch-along video without the movie, but it's YouTube that gets the subscribers.

Be Kind

Even looser ... as in, what happens in that house is madness — madness, I tell you: THE WAR OF THE ROSES (1989) Dark Comedy STIR OF ECHOES (1999) Thriller/Horror PANIC ROOM (2002) Psychological Thriller

Anonymous

Airplane Army of Darkness (1992) Robin Hood - Men in Tights (1993) A Mel Brooks movie. Also has Cary Elwes. And because it is the classic, The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) ....and because it is kind of a tie in, and a lot of fun, The Rocketeer (1991)

Anonymous

What About Bob or The Green Mile might be fun!

Anonymous

gotta check out who framed roger rabbit

Be Kind

Unsure if you saw a comment on another vid about how March Madness is a registered trademark of the NCAA, so you can’t call it that. I rec Millennial Movie Madness maybe? 🧐

Anonymous

The first three on the list are great!!!!

Anonymous

Nest I've never really seen except for pieces. It's more of a drama iirc. Stir has comedy in it. I prefer it. What about movies with "green" or fantasy creatures for March? "The Green Mile" I've heard of, no idea when, who is in it. Labyrinth, Dark Crystal... fantasy

Edward Olson

Trademarked, not Copyrighted. She CAN call it that. They don't care about a movie reaction channel. It's not like she's saying her videos are NCAA basketball, and she's not using the name to draw basketball fans to her videos. She's not having a bracket competition. It's in honor of March Madness, you could say, referencing that her event is merely synchronous to theirs and not a competitive use.

Edward Olson

The Green Mile is mostly a prison drama and has nothing to do with leprechauns, lol.

Anonymous

Gotta go for Cuckoo's Nest to lead off a truly amazing film but I hope you do get to Mad Mad World an all out epic comedy

Anonymous

It's older, so that's probably why it's not getting as many votes, but It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is SUCH an amazing slapstick comedy with an extraordinary cast (including: Milton Berle, Sid Cesar, Ethel Merman, Buddy Hackett, Mickey Rooney, Spencer Tracy, Johnathan Winters, Peter Falk, Buster Keaton, Don Knotts, Jimmy Durante, and even the Three Stooges!). It was the best ensemble cast of comedy you could have put together in the early 1960s, and it's weird and frantic and funny to this day.

Manuel Johnen

Also, you're not gonna see something like that again anytime soon... they kinda tried to replicate this kind of comedy in 2002 with "Rat Race" which was very much in the vein of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World", with VERY middling results...

Anonymous

For march madness I'd recommend What about bob (loved it since I watched it in the cinema on its first week of release). Dream Team with Michael Keaton. Misery. Cape Fear with Robert Deniro

Elliot Nesterman

"The Madness of King George"(1994) is another to put on the March roster. It's an historical drama about, well, the madness of King George III, its causes and consequences. It was nominated for awards in many categories and won several, notably Helen Mirren won in Cannes for Best Actress and Nigel Hawthorne won the BAFTA (Britain's Oscar) for Best Actor.

Be Kind

I have to give it to Edward. I orig thought, like many, that not knowing the actors in Mad World would hinder the comedy. Then I remembered that they were before my time when I initially saw it as a kid. Having never seen the majority of the cast in anything before or since didn’t hinder anything. I loved it. I’m still curious to see if it will hold up. With older comedies, you never know if what was funny then will be funny today; but that has nothing to do w/casting.

Anonymous

perfect "madness" with Bill Murry... "WHAT ABOUT BOB!"

Eric Janssen

I'll second that--Funniest period drama in recent memory, even for those who don't remember Nigel Hawthorne from BBC's "Yes, Minister", and only maybe from "Demolition Man".

Anonymous

You wanna see some crazy? There is no one better than Kathy Bates in the Stephen King adaptation Misery. It was her first major film role and she became the first actress to win the Best Performance Oscar for a thriller/horror film. Really good stuff.

Eric Janssen

(Apparently, Danika's title-shouting has gone from Jeopardy to $10,000 Pyramid...) ;)

Elliot Nesterman

"The Fisher King"(1991) has been mentioned before. It would be an excellent choice for madness month.

Michael Buhl

And if you wanna see some real, real crazy, watch Sandra Bernhard in The King of Comedy.

Anonymous

I'd really like to recommend the movie What's up, doc? its from 1972 and i think you would love it!

Mr Marvelous

Weekend at bernie's is one to add to a poll during madness month

Anonymous

I like Nest, but Wilder and Pryor are an experience to behold.

Anonymous

You cant have a month of madness without Donnie Darko

Christian Rennie

Interesting choices. I’d like to add Benny & Joon to the mix of titles too.

Eric Janssen

B&J would be cute enough for the theme. And might also inspire "Wait, what's he doing, is that from Buster Keaton? I wanna watch one of those!"

Gio Vidrio

She’s seen The Shining. Check out her Hallobeans category.

Anonymous

Can I recommend Diggstown? I know Ash hates sports

Anonymous

A Clockwork Orange, Pink Floyd: The Wall

Autumn Bough

My picks would be Stir Crazy then Ruthless People, then It’s a mad mad mad mad world (or however many mads there are) and One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest LAST!! It’s a rough one and I feel like you’d need a support Hubben for that one. I felt like it was rough anyway.

Mr Marvelous

They live is perfect for madness. It's a John Carpenter movie. You know the guy that directed The Thing. It also has the longest fight scene ever

Elliot Nesterman

"The Ruling Class" (1972) The Ruling Class is a 1972 British black comedy film which tells the story of a paranoid schizophrenic British nobleman (played by Peter O'Toole) who inherits a peerage. O'Toole, whose performance is extraordinary, described it as "a comedy with tragic relief". The film was a commercial failure but has since become a cult classic.

Anonymous

The tricky thing about this topic is that it includes a lot of really well done serious films like One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest and I don't think those work for reaction videos. It's not fair to you to not be able to give it your full attention. Comedy and action/horror work because there are constant things with big responses but I just don't see it for dramas.

Edward Landis

I think It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World would be best. It’s slapstick zany and I’ve never seen anyone react to it.

Autumn Bough

Just to add you totally need to watch WHAT ABOUT BOB? Bill Murray, Richard Dreyfus...It's perfect. Another good mental type movie is THE VOICES with Ryan Reynolds. I love that one, but it is a fairly recent movie.

Anonymous

Moonstruck refers to temporary madness caused by the full moon. Just saying...

Christine

Not too old, but what about "As Good As it Gets" ?

Anonymous

Eraserhead....a film about madness(among other things) that is also known to induce madness lol

Anonymous

Does anyone know the movie Jesus' Son? It's a great movie and would fit the March theme well. It's from 1999, so a little newer than Ashleigh's usual picks, and stars Billy Crudup and Jack Black.

Anonymous

NETWORK (1976)

Phatlayces_Pcola

Hey. I'm a new patron.. I suggest Girl, Interrupted! Keep up the great work!

Anonymous

I have a suggestion for a film that probably most people haven't heard of. It's a comedy called "Brain Doners". I enjoy watching your reactions and I look forward to seeing more in the future.
