Heck yea! Ik we keep saying it but imo this is the point where the show just takes off

dieselbeast

I hope your next series that you choose is more mainstream i.e. Cobra Kai, ATLA just isn't doing it, please let your next poll of movies be the godfather, Scarface, Goodfellas or Carlitos way, ease up on the animation, but I'm just one person

Anonymous

ATLA is literally the only cartonn/animation thing she is watching atm but ok

Anton Ny

if you like animation movie, may i suggest the LEGO movie (2014) and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). The stories are a masterpiece and the casts are awesome, you would definitely love it.

Great episodes back to back...

SupremeCai

Zuko Alone. One of the GOATed episodes of the entire Avatar series, such a milestone in his character development. Can't wait for the rest!

This show is most definitely getting spicy Nat 😄 Another 2 really great episodes. Loved Momo and his scrubbing brush on Appa ha ha, and your second sight, predicting the next line on multiple occasions 😊 Thanks for another awesome video today Nat 💛

You’ll notice that seems to be a recurring thing in Zuko’s life, he tries to do the right thing and it blows up in his face. Literally in the case of when he tried to speak up for those new soldiers at the war meeting that lead to the Agni Kai with his father. No good deed, after all. Add to that the fact that he’s had years with only his father’s influence, is it any wonder he’s a conflicted individual? I don’t have much to say about “The Chase” that you didn’t already say, except to point out that when Zuko joins the others in attacking Azula, they are lined up according to the Avatar Cycle.

Brandon

The scene in "The Chase" towards the end when Aang goes into that room without a floor he's floating around safely since he's an airbender, Azula notices it last minute and in a smart calculating manner is able to avoid falling by doing a split thing with her legs and rebalance herself, Zuko on the other hand just rushes in guns-a-blazing without thinking and falls flat on his face. All 3 of these scenes was very accurate in portraying their personalities and how they deal with obstacles they face, ATLA is just filled with little nuances like this!

DickinaBox

funny you mention the title characters look like characters you know, you have them all right except for earth, its based on the first design for toph's character, which was a man

Joshua

There is kind of a debate about why Azula turned out the way she did. Some people believe she was just born that way. However, I have always disagreed with that. I don't think anyone is born evil. I think Azula was born a talented firebender and Zuko was not and because of this Firelord Ozai took Azula under his wing and basically ignored Zuko. Their mother then reacted by paying more attention to Zuko. So I think Zuko was more kindhearted because he spent more time with his mother and Azula became ruthless because she spent more time with her father. This is just how I rationalize Azula's evilness lol

collegeguy6377

Zuko Alone is my all-time favorite episode of this show. Loved the reaction as always!

Burooj Ahanger

he is an earthbender, but just uses hammers as his extension, similar to Aang+staff or kyoshi+fans

Caomhan84

Yeah, I don't believe anyone is born evil, but you can be born with a screw loose... And I think this is true in Azula's case. Certainly, Ozai's "attention" exacerbated the issue, as he probably just pumped up her worst qualities and straight up manipulated a teenage girl's emotions. And not having her mother as an influence in her life definitely played a role. But azula is a straight-up psychopath who, if she was real and lived today (instead of an 1850s fantasy world), would definitely be on some sort of medication.

Hi Nat and thank you for this funny and adorable double reaction! I always loved the Zuko's past flashback, they are well done and rich in emotion, and of course Momo's and Apa's scenes are just adorable hahaha, however you killed me with your "Is that a pig chicken?!" line hahaha However seeing you so confused at the end was really great! 😆 I can't wait for your next reaction! I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

I'm enjoying rewatching the show with you and seeing your reactions! I am hoping you are doing Legend of Korra too after this :)

Jonathanese

I think you missed a bit where Zuko said "Wanna see what Azula does to turtle ducks?" before he threw the rock. Also yeah, Azula didn't have much respect for her mom and was all about pleasing her dad. I won't go much into it, but it's a big part of why is so ruthless and so different from her mom.

Jonathanese

Oh also try to avoid talking over Iroh. Pretty much every line that comes out of his mouth is diamond-tier.

Kevin Bartelen

I don't actually know what the real answer is, but my best guess as to what happened with Zuko's mom is that she probably killed Azulan in order to save Zuko's life. Especially after what she said to Zuko about "Don't mess with a mom's kids".

breanna

The story revolving Zuko's mom doesn't get answered in the show, but it is answered in the books

djKENTO

Just wanna share my favorite Mako performance which is Pacific Overture which is a Sondheim musical about the westernization of Japan. Mako plays several parts including “THE RECITER” who is like the narrator or chorus for the piece. https://youtu.be/3xwJpmTh41U I think he has such an incredible presence on stage. Sadly this is Sondheim’s least performed musical because it requires an almost entirely Asian male cast if it’s done in the original style, which is Kabuki style with no women in the female roles. just wanted to share this for people who might not know about Mako’s amazing performance history.

eladrin22

You are correct about the opening, partially. Paku is the Waterbender, Azula is the firebender and Aang is obviously the airbender. The Earthbender, however, is not the Bolder. In fact, it was the original design for Aangs earthbending teacher until head writer Aaron Ehasz introduced the idea of a young blind girl beating up strong muscular earthbenders. If you are VERY observant, you may see the earthbender for a very short time in one episode in the future (you really have to pay attention to catch it).

eladrin22

I am not sure what that has to do with what I said xd but yes, that is true

Ben Gilshenan

nats gonna be sad in episode 10

Nat FYI that wasn't the same town Zuko visited in the previous episode, it was a different abandoned one. Also, think someone else already mentioned this, but I'd be a tad more weary going forward about the amount you talk over dialogue. Obviously don't expect you to be silent lol, but especially from the second season on, where character development and dialogue becomes that much richer, you don't wanna miss any key / special moments (especially from Iroh haha). Thanks for all the reactions, really enjoying reliving it all with you!

Nat, you should watch Euphoria! It’s such a good show and it’ll have you sad, happy and mad (mostly mad) bc of one character nate but it’s beautifully shot and well directed and i think you would like it!

Keepitcam

Your Army sweater looks cool.
