Can't wait to watch your reaction to the finale! And yes s2 is where the show really finds its footing imo. Such a great series!

Natalie, I'll tell you right now. Don't hate on Uncle's singing. It's not cool.

Hi and thanks Nat for your new funny reaction! 😄You made me so laugh when you're revolting during the "sexist scenes" 😆 I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Every reactor talks about how long it's taking them to get to the North Pole. They're so used to The 8 to 10 episode structure of modern series, not to mention the abbreviated travel times in the latter seasons of Game of Thrones. Imagine how long a South Pole to North Pole trip would have taken in our world in about 1855 (which is the rough analogue between when this takes place and our actual world/timeline...although the Fire Nation possesses some early 20th century tech). Even with steamships. The show takes place over a 6-month period, because that's how long Aang has until the comet arrives. It's just funny how many times people mention it. Just go along with the ride. 😂. It takes years to master the elements. Both Aang and Katara somehow become master waterbenders in the space of a couple of months. You just have to roll with it. 😂

Always enjoy ATLA Days with you Nat. It's just an hour of escapist entertainment and perfect dinnertime viewing. Thanks for another fun video today Nat 💛

Really? Was jarring for me

Joshua

The voice actor for Uncle Iroh, Mako, died in 2006 from his battle with cancer. So in Later seasons, Iroh has a different voice actor. But I think Uncle Iroh(Mako) has a wonderful singing voice lol

ATLA reactions really are the highlight of my day. It's so nice to watch it again with a great reactors view on it. Thank you so much for the content.

ATLA days are the best days of the week :)

Brandon Hughes

Hey everyone just subbed. Does she post the “YouTube edit” videos to her patreon? Or just the full length?

I believe she only post the watch along style post here. The edited tube of you versions come out at a later time, so you get to see her reactions here but you will need to have your own copy to watch along with her.

There are four Air Temples. They are located in the North, West, East, and South. Aang is from the Southern Air Temple. That's why they found him in the South Pole.

Jules 4 Fools

I didn't notice before, but there's a stark contrast to the beginning and near end of Season 1, with Katara first tutoring Aang in Waterbending and Aang mastering the waterbending techniques right away, but when Aang is learning from Master Pakku, he is having so much trouble getting it, even though some of the phrasing is still the same like "[to] push and pull]". These call backs make for great writing.

Cayce Carson

Master Pakku always irritated me because it makes it seem like the only reason he changed his mind is not because she's a talented waterbender, but because of her relation to the woman he loved. Like, if she was related to some random other woman he didn't know then he still would've been a sexist asshole 😒 Very excited for season 2, it just gets better and better!

You need to watch "Kingdom" on netflix, SUCH A GOOD SHOW. it's basically Korean game of thrones, with zombies being the white walkers lmao

Like it or not, Avatar's worldbuilding consists largely in attempting to portray actual real world Traditional Civilizations in a fantasy like setting. That being said, any of the values held most dearly to all Traditional Societies that ever graced the face of the Earth would clash with, and would even be considered "evil" by your typical [current year] modern worldview. The show actually does a great job of portraying something inspired by actual traditional societies paired with the necessity of exceptions when it comes to the rules and values of said societies, without making it overly preachy and such (considering it doesn't make it a primary concern to make "social change" or whatever things like that that wouldn't fit with the setting at all), something that quite honestly would probably be the case in the 2022 world.

SweetCandle

The Fire Nation will get to the North Pole faster, because they won't stop every five minutes to ride giant fish or ride on slides.

I think the idea is that he realized, faced with the granddaughter of the woman he loved, that his strict adherence to tradition is what cost him the love of his life and a life he could have lived with her. So he changes his mind and sets aside tradition. I will say though, this is definitely not well explained. It is one of the very few critiques I have of the series. And yeah, if it hadn't have been someone related to Grangran, he probably would not have changed. Sometimes it takes a personal connection to break someone from their bigoted beliefs. This happens all of the time in real life.

Caomhan84

Piggybacking off of this, this is one of those reasons why I don't like people who say "This isn't a kid's show!" Because when you really get into the avatar fandom and how people are still arguing over the episodes, as adults because it's been 15 years, they're starting to judge the storylines and see them as adults would see them. Through adult eyes and [current year] logic. I think that misses the point and I wish it didn't go on, but it does. The show was intended for kids, in order to teach them certain life lessons and introduce them to a cool fantasy world inspired by real world Asian cultures. That's all it was. It works as it is. It has a few anachronisms, But all in all it deals with kids trying to end a 100-year war. The sequel series is the one that tries to tackle the subject of social change in a rapidly changing world/society.

Jenny Tolls

Yeah the part about them becoming masters in several months while it took others, even other avatars, years to become one was a big pill to swallow. I don't understand why they made the comet come so soon. Like they could've waited a couple years.

JarHead0351

I recall when I 1st watched Avatar with my friend's kids while they went out and then again with my nephew when he started to watch the show - end up just buying it for the family so they all can watch it - it is a good show watch with kids that both can enjoy
