Some spoilers for those who haven't yet seen this movie and haven't watched along with Nat yet. Some liberties were taken with actual history, yes. But one thing that definitely was true was the friendship that formed between Herman Boone and Bill Yoast. They remained best friends right up until Coach Yoast passed away a few years back. And, a really special treat, both coaches sat down together and recorded commentary for the initial DVD release of this movie.

Happy Friday Nat. I haven't seen this movie, so was looking forward to watching it. Really enjoyed it, and your reaction. Denzel always gives a powerhouse performance, but the whole cast were awesome. When Gerry and Sunshine kissed, I thought you going over the back of your chair! 😂 So many great songs on the soundtrack, and the score by Trevor Rabin got you in the heart. He's written a lot of these uplifting scores for Jerry Bruckheimer productions. Before he started film scoring, he was one of the original members of the 70s band Yes. Come on Nat, get those tissues sorted out 😄 You need your reaction checklist. Yeah, that state championship game wasn't close at all. They won that game by a landslide! I don't remember the score off the top of my head, but I think they held the losing team to either 0 points or single-digit points. I don't mind so much that this movie takes "creative license" with the events of the story because this a movie, not a documentary. Another great reaction from you, Nat!

I would recommend Radio, starring Cuba Gooding Jr and Ed Harris, as another football movie based on a true story.

Yea, good movie, entertaining, thought provoking, and good sports movie, but they took a lot of liberty with history, im from area, we played tc williams in high school, decades later but still, they over played the race part of it, was that still an issue even as close to DC as the area is sure but this isnt the deep south during segregation,the schools that merged to make TC williams were already integrated the players disliked each other cause they previously played against each other, also they didnt play all white schools, they were also integrated at the time, and they crushed that season, won most games by landslides, but that didnt make as good of a movie.

Love this movie. Glory Road is the basketball version of this and Rudy is another great, inspirational football movie that will have some cast members that you’ll recognize as well.

Been forever since I watched this movie. Completely forgot Ryan Gosling was in it. I remember when this came out there was an issue with financing the movie like half way through production and Denzel was so passionate about getting it made that he took a big pay cut to make it happen.

I felt like it was always this movie and Armageddon being played on my overnight school field trips a looong time ago, but I never got tired of it. It's absolutely super corny at times and does a bunch of cliche things, but it does them so well. It was great to revisit this one.

If you wanna watch something with a similar vibe I can recommend Gridiron Gang - Also football and also 'based on true story' though the quality isn't as high it's still solid entertainment

Seeing Wood Harris in this just reminds me: you should REALLY watch The Wire. Greatest show ever, and Wood Harris is fantastic in it.
