Happy Friday, Natalie! 😊 I've been looking forward to the return of the "X-Men" movies. Getting this downloaded right now so that I can watch it later tonight. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction this evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Jomero

I think it's ok that you skipped the end-credits scenes of the movies you included. None of them actually, really matter. Especially the Deadpool one. The X-Men movies from this point forward just kind of pretend (mostly) that various plots of the previous movies never happened. These First Class movies are kind of soft-reboots. They add a lot of retroactive continuity (retcon).

Darryl Low

Today's Feature Friday is X-tra awesome Nat. I usually sit through the end credits in a movie anyway, especially if I love the score. I forgot how cool this movie was. When I saw it in the cinema when it came out, it had been a while since I'd seen the first 3, so watching them all again recently with you, made this movie resonate more. I like comic book movies when they are bolder and stylized. Just adds so much more to them. And a great driving score too. We need to get you over here to Scotland and to COP26 and get you defending the trees and deforestation Nat 😊 Loved that you used your dual-purpose mug for your snack today 😊 Thanks for a really fun reaction Nat. Can't wait to watch the next one in the series with you. As always, thanks for all your great work this week. Have a stonking weekend Nat 💛

Jomero

Also for other Patrons... Natalie said in this reaction she had to rent this on Amazon Prime. But as of today, at least, First Class is on Disney Plus.

Dante

I completely forgot we are going through the X-Men movies lol. This, Days of Future Past, and Logan are my top 3 movies from the series. So excited to get into this one!

WackySwacky

One of the good X-Men films. Fassbender steals every scene.

NotlobParrot

Woooooooooo! I *really* needed something like this today. Thank you Nat! ❤️️👏

Jon Hoover

YES! Finally! I'm not a horror movie person, and I'm not watching the shows that Natalie has chosen, so the last month has been lacking for me. Now, we can finish X-Men and move on to Deadpool! Unfortunately, I have to wait until tonight. 😢

Danishprince

The X is back! Really love First Class

Anonymous

So I’m sure someone can explain this better but in X3 Charles did give a lecture to students about that man in a coma. He asked the students what if a mutant were to take their consciousness and transfer it into the body of that man. And of course that’s what he ended up doing. He said something along those lines I don’t recall what he said verbatim but I’m sure someone can explain it better than me lol

djKENTO

and I just ordered these movies in 4K! Perfect timing.

Anonymous

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally, something watchable this month...

Ahmad Zain

Yes finally

Jeff K

I was just thinking to myself “I wonder when Nat is gonna get to First Class” and literally seconds later, I get the email notification. Time to press my luck and wonder when I’m gonna win PowerBall.

Anonymous

The Hell; how is this not on Disney+ in the States........??

Anonymous

LMFAO; Just checked; the States weren't getting it 'till today; the fifth of November 2021.......smh

Ian

Happy Friday nat hope you are well don't have the time to watch this today so it's going to be a Nat double bill tomorrow 🙂 looking forward to your thoughts on this one and good thing is we are another step closer to deadpool 😀 have a fantastic weekend and until next week stay golden 💛

Kristine Friling

It is on Disney plus. That is where I am watching it...

Anonymous

Love how the effect of the shot-for-shot recreation of the opening is totally lost on her, that blew my mind when I first saw it.

Aaron Lovik

His lesson in the class was "would it be moral to do so" I think. Also, I think the lazy writing decision for this was explained somewhere. That is supposed to be Charles' twin that was born brain dead. Convenient way to have a spare body that still looks like Patrick Stewart so that he can transfer his mind and powers over. No explanation why this other man still can't walk after.

Aaron Lovik

Nat, you're right to be confused. There is a lot of lazy writing between movies. This was outside of the MCU where each story is (for the most part) meticulously weaved into the existing universe. Some writers just wanted to do their own thing.

Steve J

anybody else want to watch Starship Troopers after seeing Michael Ironside? :)

Anonymous

First man with ryan gosling please

Calo Grsf

Hi Nat and thank you for your new reaction! (Finally back with X-Men haha) I will consider it as my prebirthday gift 😄haha, it was so nice to see you enjoying this film, you were in a such good shape, your lines were just amazing 😆Of course your emotional moments and your speech about ww2,etc were just so touching💛), this one is my top 3 X-Men franchise film. Well, this film was like a prequel and at the same time a reboot, so they changed some events. But yeah, I'm not surprised you were confused with some parts. I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

djKENTO

Anytime Alex Gonzalez shows up as Riptide with that hair I just sing the Danny Rojas song.

Danishprince

It makes sense that you're confused at times - First Class worked sorta like a soft reboot of the X-Men movies and not necessarily just a prequel so the continuity between this and the original movies don't line up perfectly :)

Haughtbreaker Nic

lol basically this is "let's pretend The Last Stand never happened". There are a lot of continuity issues with the Xmen movies and it's a lot of "Eh, just go with the flow". This movie brought a lot of fans back to the franchise after X3.

Steve J

"I thought he wasn't paralyzed until later... ?" Yeah, from here on out the continuity is kind of all over the place. You'll go crazy trying to link it all together, mostly better just to treat each movie as it's own thing with loosely related plots and characters. It's not like the MCU

djKENTO

This film was also originally intended to be a complete reboot and was written as such. But creepy Bryan Singer couldn’t let go.

djKENTO

Hahahah the one time Nat stays through the credits is the one time there’s nothing to stay for.

Seph Hernandez

God this is such a good movie. Like you said, the set design was beautiful, but even more so was the writing. That scene where Charles is talking Erik through the place of "rage and serentity" is just beautiful man, made me tear up when I saw this in theaters in high school for the first time. Just a quick note, I saw some other people mention it already, but this trilogy was a kind of "soft reboot" for the X-Men movies. So the stories are mostly the same, but lots of little things change. So things like Raven living with Charles, when in the original movies they barely acknowledge each other. Same thing applies to Charles being paralyzed a little bit earlier in the timeline. Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy were perfect casting choices for young Charles and Erik, they manage to carry the same gravity that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have, and really flesh out the deep love and respect the 2 characters have for each other. Really glad you enjoyed it this much, it was so fun to rewatch!

Lean

All in all i really like ur reactions, but it does bother me a little, that u look to ur other monitor so often. Especially in more emotional scenes(and when u think u have to fix ur hair :) ). I assume u have ur recording showing on there. I just think it kinda takes away the genuinity of the reaction. But besides that, i really enjoy ur reactions and i cant wait for Deadpool. Stay safe.

Anonymous

Hi Nat. Loved your reaction. Really looking forward to you reacting to Deadpool and Logan! 😊 It's already been stated, I think, but the continuity is a mess from now on and it's best to view this new series as a soft reboot. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is the only one that tries to somewhat acknowledge the original trilogy but besides that it's best not to think too much about it. 😉

Anonymous

Does this mean Days of Future Past is next? It's my favorite X-Men movie by far!

Steve J

I think The Wolverine is next iirc, which is another fun one. Then DoFP

Robert C

The continuity in the X-Men movies is pretty loose. Like, they're connected, but there's a lot of things that don't quite fit.

Jeff K

Watching this now and enjoying it thoroughly. I would watch a full movie of "Magneto: Nazi Hunter." Also, Natalie, just an FYI: Alex/Havoc is the older brother of Cyclops in the comics.

YannickWega

I can watch this film on Disney+! Could you not?

Myles Away

"Magneto: Nazi Hunter" was supposed to be a full movie. It's a shame that it was relegated to a few short moments. That scene in the bar is easily the best part of this movie and some of the best stuff in the entire series a part from Logan.

Travis

This is either the best or second beat X Men movie in my opinion. I guess if you include Logan it could be potentially 3rd, but still top tier!

Michael Cruse

"What is with her outfits? They all gotta be white?" Yes, yes they do. In 40 years of reading X-Men comics, I think I can count on one hand the number of times Emma Frost has worn anything but white. Wish they'd done more with her in this movie because she can be a really complex character, but oh well. It's not you - the storylines really don't match up in these movies. Sometimes it's for the best, like when a director choses to go with "That part in a previous movie didn't work, so I'm just going to pretend it didn't happen." And sometimes I have no idea why they change it. Doesn't bother me at all when sometimes you miss the significance of a character or forget that something. There's a lot going on in these movies. You're having fun, I'm having fun, I've got a drink and a snack, all is good. You should be getting close to "Days of Future Past", and it's one of my favorites in the series. Partly because I think it's got solid writing and acting, and partly because it's based on the first X-Men comic I ever bought. Had never heard of them before, but it was a cool cover and by page 3 I was hooked for life. Hope you like it too!

Dooly

We didn’t get much Emma Frost because January Jones gave a terrible performance.

Ben Wheeler

Not that it matters now, but it's newly available on Disney+

Vincent Valentin

the xmen franchise has abysmal continuity. ignore it, it'll only bring you pain.

Anonymous

Yeah, there are plot inconsistencies all over the X-Men movie series, mostly because they either had no long-term plans regarding the sequels or because they just decided to ignore details they didn't like and made changes based on what story they wanted to tell with each new movie. We've really been spoiled by the MCU's comparatively rather lavish attention it has paid to the consistency of its continuity.

ButtyOh

Great. The one dumbass Xmen film not on Disney+ (in the UK)

Chris

i cannot wait for logan and deadpool

Michael MacDonagh

Nice little surprise today, I was looking forward to re-watching the rest of these "with you" lol... Also If you were being serious... tip: I'm fairly sure that the hippocampus is triggered more easily in states of heightened emotion; that's why its easier to remember information when its told to us in the form of a story. Mnemonics or a "mind palace" approach helps with storing memory because they add associated context which creates correlation between thoughts (synapses) almost like little bridges between memories that are already established in your mind i.e. things that you already care about. (Like Magneto's little birthday party with his Mam.) Probably not, I could talk for hours about trying to understand how things work. I think its fascinating!

Nic Benham

Just take continuity with a grain of salt with these films. Somethings pass over, somethings dont.

Nic Benham

Excited to see you watch Days of Future Past (if possible there is the extended Rouge Cut) and cant wait for the next two Wolverine and Deadpool films. Apocalypse and Dark Pheonix however..... eh. Hope you enjoy them at least :)

Game Wizard001

I would suggest watching The Wolverine next, as it does take place after X-Men 3: The Last Stand and does then play into Days of Future Past. Not the best Wolverine centric story but still fun to watch. Sadly not on Disney+ as far as I could tell.

Ido Gordin

You can see Storm as a child at the cerebro scene. At the second x-men movie there was Nightcrawler, also a devil with teleportation powers, who I think is Azazel's son.

Jill Finlayson

This and the next one are my two favorite X-Men movies, I love Magneto's character so much. Thanks so so much for finally doing this one it made my day and gave me something to look forward to! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Also it was so funny how you finally waited for an end credit scene just for there not to be one. Also it was funny/sad how excited and happy you were at the very start but then it starts with the Holocaust scenes... Yeah that will bring the mood down lol still great great movie and Fassbender is very sexy in it haha great job thanks for watching it!!

NFXx

Yes! Finally back to the X-Men films. Especially this one, it’s such a good movie. Can’t wait for The Wolverine and Days a Future Past. Also if someone hasn’t mentioned it yet there are two versions of Days Future Past. The Original and The Rogue Cut (directors cut). You should definitely watch the The Rogue Cut, not only because there’s more scenes but because all of the scenes with Rogue were cut out of the film. Hence the “Rogue” cut. It does add more to the story and fleshes it out a bit more. I hope you do chose to watch that cut, if not then that’s fine. If what I remember correctly Rogue was one the characters you liked/interested in.

Stefan Johannsson

I really do enjoy most of these reactions, but I think I lost count how many times you were critical over sometimes the dumbest things on this one, lol. Like that it should've taken longer for someone to answer the phone on the other end when the Russian Colonel picked up the phone hahah. So you want the director to waste a few more seconds of our time for dead air time so that the colonel waits a little longer to have someone answer so that its more realistic? Cause that's needed in the movie? lol. Just an example of many strange things you complain about. Ok, I'm done with rant hahah. Not at all angry about it, in case I sound angry, just very very comical. I really do like the channel, lol. Much love.

Ed Garland

Such a nice surprise to see you returning to the Xmen universe. I'm glad you enjoyed this movie so much, and am very excited to see you continue through the following movies. Hope the next one comes soon. Thank you again!! 🙂

Myles Away

The Mystique in this movie and the Mystique from the original trilogy do not share the same backstory. In the original trilogy there was not this history between them.

Fraser

Is Moira really that difficult of a name to say? Even after it’s said out loud multiple times

Myles Away

Also, the Moira from the post-credit scene and the Moira from this film do not share the same backstory.

Erik Stevenson

As others have said, from here on out you can't really count on plot points staying 100% faithful from movie to movie.

Anonymous

I am almost the same. I AM a horror movie person - but, just none of the ones she chose for Natmares this year; and the shows she is currently watching don't interest me in the least. Also...we don't get HBOMAX here in Canada, so Dune for me wasn't even an option. I think through October, the only time I watched along was for Black Widow. The reason I stayed subscribed was mainly because I knew she would be returning to the X-men franchise; I've been eagerly awaiting this one.

Jayson Phillips

Watch them all and react to them Decide for yourself whether you like them or not.

Jayson Phillips

It explains in the next movie how he can walk. Sort of.

Jayson Phillips

Also Magneto is Wanda's Daddy =) Not a spoiler it's never said in the Movies only comics.

Robert Reichle

I enjoy these movIes even though they are ALL over the place. They don’t know who’s coming or going, when or where or why. It’s just fun anyway.

Anonymous

Yes yes yes - I second the notion to watch the Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past. Both versions are good, so I'm good either way. But the Rogue Cut is FAR better. Also - it features more of Rogue (duh), which was one of the characters Nat liked most from the original X-men trilogy, whom in the theatrical version only gets a blink-and-you'll-miss-it walk-on part.

Anonymous

Stan Lee did not have a cameo in this movie however he did have a cameo as a Hot Dog Stand employee in the first movie, he was in the third movie, and one more X-Men movie you have yet to watch. Also yes, the continuity for Xavier's paralysis and Jean Grey's and Scott's admission. Also I burst out laughing as soon as you said "How funny would it be if I sit through this whole thing and there's no post-credit scene?"

Ben Violette

The next one is my favorite. Maybe second to Logan

Marcus Carter

Glad that the xmen are being brought into the mcu

Marcus Carter

they just released it on disney plus lol

Ryan

Oh man, you sat through the credits for this one, that was fun few minutes to wrap this movie up with. Great reaction, hope you watch the Rogue Cut for Days of Future Past.

Jon Hoover

Should we instruct Natalie to watch a certain DC movie before Deadpool?

Alvin Baca

In x 3 there is a scene where prof x gives a ethics lecture to a class about a telepath using a brain dead persons body who is on life support as a surrogate avatar. Which is why we see him in x3 walking at a much older age. Also why he didnt really die in that movie.

asia roberson

Wolverine movie is next

Travis

One interesting dynamic I didn’t hear you touch on is the parallels between MLK/Malcolm X and Xavier/Magneto. When these comics were written in the 60s the storyline borrowed from the civil rights movement. Professor X is supposed to represent Martin Luther King Jr and the passive, compassionate approach to fighting racism and injustice. Magneto is supposed to represent Malcolm X’s more combative approach. That’s what makes X-Men so appealing as a comic. All the layers, metaphors and smilies that mirrored our reality.

Joe Blankenship

Hang on, Natalie. You've got curly hair. That's your mutant power.

Leaf on the Wind

The timelines are all over the place in the prequels. They don't follow the comic books or the tv shows at all, and it pisses off the OG fans. I know you're excited for Deadpool (You should be), but can you tell us beforehand if you're watching the theatrical version or the extended? There are some sites that only have either/or, and not both.

Matthew Periolat

Well, after this, I’d recommend Thirteen Days in a heartbeat if you have an interest in the Cuban Missile Crisis. But I also kind of owe you an apology. I’m pretty tough at times because my memory is pretty strong and I set that as the standard. You talking at the end about your memory difficulties kinda humbled me a bit. Have to remember not to demand people meet me where I am, I’m better accepting where someone is and coming down to lift up. Say that a bit with Erik’s memory of lighting a menorah with his mother and you thinking it was his birthday. Well, there are candles involved in both, so it’s OK. Maybe he’s a Targaryen, right? Anyway, first time watch and honestly, this is probably my favorite of the X movies so far. I’m with you in that everything except for the Deadpool movies to come is first time watches going forward. And, you want to see the future again, huh? Careful what you ask for. Until next time, still Golden.

Adrian Currier

You might be interested to know that Stan Lee created the X-Men comics in 1963 as a metaphor of The Civil Rights Movement. It seems like Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr are loosely based on Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Loosely, I say, because Xavier is probably closer to Malcolm X than to Martin Luther King, Jr. in some ways

Adrian

Always remember, when it comes to the FOX Marvel timeline, FOX does not give a damn about it.

Anonymous

For the next X-Men movies you should check Disney + before renting the movies. I live in the US and I get most of them on Disney +.

Anonymous

In the comics, Azazel is actually just a straight-up demon who can teleport. Not a mutant. That’s why he looks like the devil. He’s also Nightcrawler’s father with Mystique, though the continuity of that is questionable sometimes

Anonymous

And Riptide didn't kill any dogs. Dani is truly the bigger villain.

Brian Jones

Just going to second an above comment Nat on the off chance that you missed it. When you get to Days of Future Past, make sure to watch the extended edition (The Rogue Cut).

William R Coughlan

Second that recommendation. The theatrical release is great, but The Rogue Cut is much better at tying together a lot of the loose strings.

William R Coughlan

After your comments at the end about wanting to see *both* the past and the future of the X-Men characters, I think you're really going to enjoy Days of Future Past. :)

Marcus Carter

yeah they made some mistake with the continuity but they tried to fix it with days of future past, I hope you watch that soon, I was legit laughing at the fact that you were watching for end credits on this! The one time! lmao!

Eddie

I went to Disney + today (friday) and the first thing that popped up was X-Men First Class. So (maybe?) Natalie just missed this movie from being on Disney +

Anonymous

One step closer to Logan!

Connor Ellis

Here's where things get confusing. Don't assume what you've seen before is the same timeline/universe. They were trying a soft reboot here that's why some stuff doesn't make sense to what you've seen in their futures.

Kevin Bartelen

There's a lot of continuity errors in this movie because they kind of wanted to ignore X3 as much as possible, if you consider only the first 2 in cannon it makes more sense.

Annie519

When I first saw this movie I couldn't believe how much I loved it! I was a original x-men purist and thought nothing they did in this movie could match the others especially X2 but not only did this movie prove me wrong but it's even better in my opinion! I love the relationship between Charles and Erik, every time I watch that scene when Charles shows Erik his past with his mother it always makes me emotional, Charles crying and feeling what Erik felt gets me every time! Same thing when Erik killed Shaw, for Charles it was like it was happening to himself, feeling every bit of that pain and Erik knew he would but he pretty much chose to kill Shaw and ruin his friendship with Charles, even after knowing what Erik was starting to do Charles still did not let go of Shaw even though he could have. Also I loved how they showed how powerful Charles is, yes Erik is powerful but Charles could literally do anything he wanted. He could manipulate anyone's mind anyway he wants to, thank goodness he's a good man and doesn't use his powers for gain! I am SO excited for you to see Day Of Future Past! It's my absolute favorite of the X-Men films!

Misty Crom

I too checked on both Disney+ and Netflix before realising it'd be on more Amazon rental. I think all the others are on Disney+ - or at least between that and Netflix (at least here in the UK). Also, I checked too, and no, no Stan Lee cameo in this. In the TV shows they had very subtle things, like a poster in the background etc... He had been in Xmen 3 though; watering his front lawn when Charles and Erik visited Jean. Next one will actually be in Deadpool (yes there is one, I'm not saying where).

Wu Sha Ling

"i'm in such a good mood" movie: holocaust

Anonymous

Yes. Poor planning. As much as I liked this movie when it came out...it's a mess. This whole franchise is movie after movie of poor planning. Great performances and sets and lots of other great things. Moira is supposed to be Scottish. Banshee is Irish. Colossus is Russian (not a spoiler-spoiler alert he gets to be in Deadpool.) The "real" first class is Hank/Beast, Scott/Cyclops, Jean, Bobby/Iceman, and Warren/Angel (the winged Ben Foster in Last Stand.) Hank always had an odd body shape, more gorilla like, but still looked human. He later experimented on himself, altering his mutation becoming the furry and blue version. He goes through several other mutations depending on the artists designs. From blue gorilla to blue lion and back and up and down. But it wasn't from using Mystique's DNA. She is a major character in the comics, but not at all like she is portrayed in these movies. Comic book nerd coming out now. Emma didn't get her second mutation, the diamond form, until decades later. It was a cool effect, but totally confusing, as per your reaction to it. There is so much potential in these movies, and I cannot wait to see what Marvel will do with them. The Raven/Charles/Xavier story only became what it was in the movies because of this movie/script/cast. One of my biggest frustrations with these movies is that mutation was originally intended to be an analogy to going through puberty and how those years make us feel like we don't fit and don't belong. Years later the human rights side of it came in, as well it should, it's a great story for that. I'm sure others have already said it, but Alex/Havok is supposed to be Scott/Cyclops' younger brother. I don't mind creative liberties for stories and settings etc, they can't be 1:1 to the comics. But there were lots of choices across the whole franchise that just seem weird and unnecessary. My last bit about this particular movie is that we're supposed to believe that Charles/Erik's entire brother/enemy relationship is based on this...maybe two week encounter? The movie's plots get more convoluted and worse from here out. Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are the absolute worst. Deadpool 1 and 2 are fun and New Mutants is pretty decent. At least they get characterization pretty darn good with those movies. Okay, I'm done being such a downer... The reaction was great as usual!

Anonymous

Raven's blue form actually isn't a suit in this movie. They made a suit for future movies, but it's full makeup here

Joe Blankenship

The next movie kinda patches up some of the holes left by this "reboot/retcon/prequel/whatever this is"--alternate timelines and what not.

Logan Kerlee

I really enjoyed watching your reaction for this one! It's a lot of fun seeing/hearing how excited you get about things/characters/what the characters do during these movies! It's always a pleasure. :) This one though isn't one of my faves. It's damn cool but I can't take it very seriously. I like that they explained some core backstory involving some of the core characters but I dislike how some of the characters ended up and I really didn't like how Xavier met up with Logan for a quick minute and it's casually forgotten/just not included in the future (obviously the movie was made beforehand, which is why I dislike them including it here).

Logan Kerlee

This may be something that just irks me but her name is Moira (moy ruh). Sorry! xD It's just one of those things that bugs me.

Logan Kerlee

lmao, that had me cracking up laughing too. Though, I checked the runtime at the start and figured she made the mistake then. :P So I was waiting to see her disappointed look. xD

Wu Sha Ling

If continuity confuses you, don't worry. The movies handle it poorly. Comics regularly reboot everything when the writers eventually write themselves into a corner. Just enjoy them as rollercoaster rides: fun and thrilling, but don't think about them too long

Baron Imhoof

Dunno if anyone else mentioned it, but the banker Magneto visits at the Swiss bank was Samwell Tarly's dad in GoT.

David Crabtree

There's a term you should keep in mind beginning with First Class and moving forward in this movie series: continuity shmontinuity.

Nicholas Hentges

Please do the Rogue cut when you get to Days of Future Past, it has an entire cut subplot of, you guessed it, Rogue.

Brandon Scott

Loved the reaction... but your "coincidences" just weren't, lol. he found Eric in the water because he could literally sense him. It's like seeing him. And she told the general that shaw wasn't there because the general was expecting shaw to be there. It was the most natural first statement she could have made, lol. anyway, it's great to be back in Marvel and I cannot wait for Deadpool!

Brandon Scott

Oh, and by the way, all of these movies are available on Disney+.

Dooly

Missing important plot details is part of her brand.

Cory Stanish

They literally just added First Class to Disney Plus, the same day this reaction was posted! :D

Inhuman Paradox

The reason Last Stand and Origins don't fit with this film is because Bryan Singer (Who was in charge of the first two films and co-wrote this film) HATED X3 and Origins. As did most people at the time (3 is getting more love recently). First Class is, for all intents and purposes, a reboot.

Edward Williams

Great reaction. When you get to DAYS OF FUTURE PAST you have to do the ROGUE CUT

Theoshin

I can't wait for the Logan reaction, I would also recommended either before or after the movie to react to the trailer for it as well, it was so well done

Thomas Malley

yeah the beginning and end of this reaction were very much the inverse beats of mood changers. interesting :)

Thomas Malley

oh yeah that's true. I forgot. I never figured that for a ret-con, but I guess it is.

Anonymous

Xavier came back to life in the end credits of X3 because he transferred his mind. If you go back and watch X3 closer to the beginning when Xavier is teaching a class, he shows them a video with Moira talking about a man who is completely brain dead. Xavier then talks about how what if one could transfer their mind into the body of this man. Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think I read somewhere that the comatose man is actually Charles' twin brother.

Robert Avila

I was so glad to see you getting back into X-Men since I really liked this and the next few movies. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to them.

Anonymous

Nat, you are amazing and I love your reactions. No need to apologize for missing or forgetting things. You are watching a movie and reacting for us, thats not easy. Those credits did you dirty this time, though! Haha. The X-Men movies get confusing from this point on, doing what the comics have always done, "Retconning" the past. You have done awesome with keeping yourself from getting spoiled. I look forward to yoir next reactions! Also, I will agree with what others have suggested. If at all possible, once you get to "Days of Future Past," try to find the "Rogue Cut." While not necessary, it is a little more fun. Have a great day!

Garrick Smalley

Little know fact most coins are non magnetic. Magneto back when he was introduced had a very hard time moving non magnetic metals.

Patrick Armbruster

I really enjoyed watching you watch the end-credits and talking about which actors and actresses you recognised and why. Apart from end-credit scenes, end-credits sometimes have other little tidbits or jokes, great music choices or some are animated beautifully... If you'd just watch them each time and use them for talking about random things, they'd be quite entertaining for us patrons, I think. Plus: 1.) You'd automatically never miss an end-credit scene and 2.) might stumble across just some small serendipitous jewel. So... Pleeeeeease? :) :) :)

Dear Nat Thank you for your rant on appearance it give me hope for the future.

I thought the Dune Entertainment logo animation at the very end was an end-credits scene - DoFP has one set in the desert. See, even knowing things can get confusing. And while the Rogue Cut might be cool and all, pretty sure a lot of us don't own it and the streaming services don't have it readily available. For once, Euro/German Disney+ is helpful in that it has all the X-Men movies. It's "just" the normal versions...

Natalie, not sure why you seem to get hung up on it, but (in the comics and movies) lots of mutants have secondary mutations - or even more. Wolverine, for instance. has his healing factor, enhanced senses, and bone claws (originally, before adamantium). Not sure if there is an actual limit to how many mutations one mutant can have.

days of future past is sooooooo good

ps they are def all on Disney plus

Kevin

all the x-men movies are on disney+! i think first class literally just got added last week

jose giron

I hope Disney doesn't change everything that makes the X-Men so thrilling and relevant, hope they embrace all the politics and themes and comments on society that the X-Men makes.

Kevin

you should know this is a reboot of the series from here on, not connected to the old movies. that's why you are seeing some plot holes.

Regarding the helicopter that you'd never seen before? I'll bet you have and just don't remember. That style of copter was used heavily by militaries around the world in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Have you ever seen the TV show "M*A*S*H"? You'd see the style of helicopter in every episode.

RD

The decision to have a Charles / Mystique relationship in this one was kind of a retcon almost but more just like the studio didn't care about continuity enough

Kalle-Tapani Isomaa

Next one you'll do on this franchise is The Wolverine. So please make sure you'll do extended edition. It is more awesome. Thank you for your reaction.

I just realized Days of Future Past is next!! That's something to look forward to.

john collins

So these movies aren't like the MCU where everything actually is connected and makes sense lol

I feel like Natalie missed SO MANY key moments in this movie because she was talking. I really hope she doesn't do this during Days of Future Past.

Jeff Clark

Honestly you're best off not thinking too much about internal consistency in the X-Men series.

They really messed up the Darwin character. His ability to adapt is way more powerful in the comic. One point when someone/something tried to kill him, his power evolved him into death harbinger, more or less gaining the same powers as Hela. In another near death experience his power teleported him to safety.

This movie is somewhat of a reboot for the franchise. There's some continuity with the early 2000s movies, but it's not all there. Hence, the reason you were confused when Charles Xavier became paralyzed here rather than later. It's the first movie not revolving around Hugh Jackman/Wolverine, so in a lot of ways it's much more of an X-men movie than the others. I really appreciate it for that.

FatLittleButterfly

they reboot the series so much just dont think about continuity at all and you will be fine

To be fair, these are things that were discovered since this movie was made, and were completely unknown in the 60s when it's set, but we didn't actually genocide the Neanderthals. We interbred with them (and the Denisovans, and two species in Africa whose remains we haven't found, but whose genes still show up in some Central and Western African populations) and the Homo sapiens characteristics were just more advantageous (probably the ability to maintain larger social networks, but Neanderthals at least seen to have had an inbreeding problem) with the associated genes increasing in frequency from generation to generation.

This one is one of the best, although... They did kill the unkillable mutant. That was a really boneheaded thing to do. I'll write more after I actually watch.
