Ah, the much maligned X-men movie that I love. I disagree with the 90 percent of the internet on this one. Just think it's entertaining and cool. I agree they misused the Deadpool character, but I don't blame the whole movie for that part, and it can only be a big problem if you are really into that character. My wife, for example, had never heard of him, so she never had any problem at all with it and likes this movie more than most of the X-men movies.

Darryl Low

Happy Feature Friday Nat. A great start to Wolverine Weekend. An enjoyable movie, and a fun reaction Nat. Had some really cool moments and you kept us laughing 😊 Dominic Monaghan, who could turn on all the lightbulbs, played Merry in the Lord of the Rings. Enjoy your week with your family Nat. Have an awesome time and stay safe 💛

Ian

Happy Friday nat wolverine time a nice way to start the weekend 🙂 hope you're having fun on your break and the weather is great and you are away from all the devastation either way stay safe and stay golden 💛 now let's start this movie 👍

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday, Natalie! 😊 I'm getting this downloaded right now so that I can watch it later tonight. I'm looking forward to watching this reaction to the next movie in the "X-Men" movie series. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 😘

Did she ever go back for the post-credits at the end of X3?

Dante

Many people dislike this movie, and while it definitely has some major flaws (especially how they handled Deadpool) I still thoroughly enjoy it and think it gets an unfairly bad rap (honestly probably just because I love Hugh Jackman's Wolverine so much). Excited to see what you think of it!

Rich

Now this is a bad movie!

Jomero

I look forward to your reaction! Ryan Reynolds was super happy to get to play Deadpool but he (like many others) wasn't happy with how they wrote and had him portray the character in this movie. In the comics, Deadpool is nothing like what we got in this movie (towards the end). So Ryan and his buddy created a short film of what their vision of a Deadpool movie could look like and submitted it. They were turned down. But somehow it magically "leaked" to the internet (we all think we know by who) and it blew everyone's minds away and made thousands of people DEMAND a full-length movie in that style. Fox relented, and that's how we got our current Deadpool. (Don't go looking for that short-film until after you watch Deadpool, as it essentially ends up being a scene in the movie itself)

Anonymous

It took them 3 tries at a Wolverine movie to finally get it right with Logan. Yeah, this movie (and what it did to Deadpool) is just awful.

David Blake

I don't know if it's a problem that only happens to me: the Youtube link never works for me (it opens, but I can't download the file) and the Google Drive one sometimes, not always (but now it's happening again), not it gives me the option to download the file (at the top, in the center of the screen); so even in Drive I can't download the file. Often in Drive the option to download the file is there, but sometimes it is missing. I don't know why and how to solve this problem. If someone can help me I apreciate this. Thanks.

This film is very much disliked by the series' fans. People had issues with the inconsistencies presented with the plot, within the movie itself as well as in connection with the other X-Men films. But people were most upset with the handling of Deadpool, whose appearance here is a strong departure from his portrayal in the comics. There were initially plans for a Deadpool spinoff movie, but it was cancelled after this film's poor reception, though Ryan Reynolds hadn't given up hope of reprising the character. Several years later, Ryan attempted to renew the studio's interest in a solo Deadpool movie by filming a piece of test footage featuring himself playing a more comics-accurate version of Deadpool and showed it to the studio executives, but the footage still didn't change their minds. However, the test footage got leaked onto the internet (no one knows who leaked it, Ryan has claimed that only a handful of people had copies of it including himself, and he has remained coy over who the culprit was) and it went viral with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Finally seeing the character's popularity and appeal, they agreed to make a Deadpool movie with Ryan returning to play him. Eleven years had passed since the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the wait and Ryan's efforts finally paid off. Deadpool had the biggest opening for an R-rated movie up to that point, spawned a franchise, made Deadpool a household name, and gave Ryan his best-known movie role.

Navjot Singh

The movie doesn't address it properly, but he was born James Howlett. But since he killed his father, to protect his identity, he took up the name Logan. In the comics, his companion Rose does the same to protect his identity.

Danishprince

The movie did butcher the Deadpool aspect and it has some insanely bad CGI at times but overall I actually quite enjoy it - It works well as mindless entertainment and sometimes that's all I want out of a movie :D

Anonymous

The opening montage was meant to show James and Victor fighting in the major wars of the 19th and 20th centuries: The American Civil War, WWI and WWII, and finally Vietnam. Since James and Victor are functionally immortal and age much more slowly than regular humans, "eternal soldier" is the perfect occupation for them.

Navjot Singh

Also, this movie is essential if you want to enjoy the Deadpool movies. :D

Anonymous

i can't wait for you to continue the x men franchise...really hyped for these...greeting from germany ;)

Anonymous

This is my Favorite X-men movie, you get to see just how much of a tortured soul wolverine really is, and it reminded me of the highlander in a sort of way, which i grew up watching with my dad. so yeah...hope you enjoy it about to watch.

Brian Jones

Just starting this now but in regards to your intro I just wanted to say that I thought it was a good thing that you liked X3.... It's always interesting to see a fresh persepctive on it. You also have to remember that one of the very big reasons people weren't keen on that film had to do with them butchering one of the most famous X-Men comic book storylines (Dark Phoenix) that there is. So that's where a whole lot of the backlash stems from. I find that the people less offended by the film are people that weren't really familiar with the comic books. So again, nice to see the fresh perspective and glad you enjoyed it. Can't speak for everyone, but I'm personally here for your reactions, not confirmation bias.

Anonymous

If you told me when I came out of the cinema after watching this movie that we would end up having a decent Deadpool movie, I would not have believed it. I'll always praise Ryan Reynolds for what he did. He involved himself on a production level to bring us the Deadpool we wanted and loved. He saw the character had been so poorly executed he felt the need to fix it. And continuity on the X Men movies is a bit iffy, so we were all happy to forget this version of Deadpool even existed.

Anonymous

One thing I saw on the credits, David Benioff was involved on the script. You must know he's one of the two main culprits for the Game of Thrones rush on the couple last seasons. He and D.B . Weiss were doing fine when they had the books as reference, but once they started doing it their way, it all went southways. Now everything starts making sense.

Navjot Singh

Natalie, you missed another post-credit scene here after X-3. :D I hope you will check them in your own time.

Joe Blankenship

Good ol’ Doctor X. And Victor Creed is also known as Sabertooth so he’s technically supposed to be that furry guy from part 1. They meddled with the story a lot in this movie. And that version of Deadpool. Kinda ruins the fun of Deadpool. I think this one and Last Stand get judged pretty harshly because along with the comic readers, a lot of people watched the Saturday morning cartoon in the 90s. And these veered so far away from what we know about the X-Men.

john collins

So this film is pretty cheesy and does several things wrong but the overall story of Wolverine's origin is fairly accurate to the source material. He was born in 1832, Victor (Sabertooth) was his brother and he was a member of Team X though they don't do a very good job of properly showing team X. I think one of the worst things about this movie is the portrayal of deadpool. You'll see what deadpool is supposed to be like when you make it to his films but this was VERY inaccurate to the comics.

warcrimes

Whoops, I called X3 the worst X-men movie totally forgetting this abortion existed. Utter trash.

Anonymous

Though I enjoy this movie as a Wolverine solo adventure, I have to admit this is one of my least favourite X-men movies, mostly due to the numerous plot holes it creates for old movies and future ones, coupled with the atrocious cgi I always skip this when re-watching the series. Also I don't think you picked up that Victor is Sabertooth from the first movie, and I swear even after decades I can't for the life of me figure out how Victor went from a talking/scheming person to roaring muscle henchman for magneto who dies in the fight on the statue of liberty, I guess he got decapitated on the way down into the water or something...

Sean

Yes! Natmares! *dancing*

Calo Grsf

Hi Nat! Ah this film.... Fortunately, watching it with you, was pleasant and fun 😄 It's sad they screwed up with this movie (dialogues, special effects, characters treatment...), it could have been great, especially if they had respected Deadpool, however I believe this movie is an essential step before the true Deadpool, and I cross my fingers you'll enjoy it 😄 Ah Koda, at the beginning... So cute haha I hope you're fine, take care, stay safe, enjoy your days off with your family and stay golden! 💛

Boomcity

Congrats Nat, you made it through the worst of the worst. From here on out the next 3 films (IMO) are some of the better X-Men films (especially Days of Future Past) It should also be said things will start to get confusing with timelines, characters and events. It's best to just ignore them and kinda roll with it.

Boomcity

I don't think so. Maybe when she posts to youtube she will have watched it?

Boomcity

The Wolverine wasn't bad. But Logan is the superior Wolverine film.

Anonymous

Oof. I enjoyed revisiting X3, but this one is just so bad. Hard to watch.

Anonymous

She aknowledged it on the editing and said she's prepping the reaction for it.

Anonymous

I wouldn’t worry about how this fits into the other X-men movies timelines, especially Deadpool. they consider this it’s own continuity from the rest of the series

Flashy Wolf

I know you mentioned you missed the post credits scenes in this movie, if you know there were two. But also if you knew that the last one, The Last Stand, had one too. Mostly all of the X-Men movies from here on will have at least 1 or 2 end credit scenes.

Anonymous

Enjoy it, then ignore it. It make little sense in connection with the rest of the movies. Logan's relationship with Sabretooth doesn't line up with the first X-Men film and I don't have to say much about its treatment of Deadpool.

Michael Cruse

Every X-Men movie gives me various amounts of "Oh yeah! That's awesome!" and "Why? Why would they do that???" This one unfortunately had not enough of the former and way too much of the latter for my taste. But the rest of the series worked better for me, including a few that are among my favorite superhero movies, so I'm looking forward to your reactions to those.

Anonymous

The most exciting thing about this movie is that you're only 3 away from Deadpool.

Brian Jones

Congratulations Nat, you made it over the hump. This was probably the worst of the X-men films. After X-3 and the lukewarm reception from audiences, and Fox totally screwing up the Dark Phoenix storyline for the first of two times, they were trying to take a new direction with the solo character films. There was a planned Gambit film after this, as he's also a very popular X-Men character, but because this film tanked so badly they abandoned the plan for YET ANOTHER new direction, which you'll see in First Class. You should probably just stop looking for any strict continuity in the films at this point, as there are all sorts of inconsistencies from here on out. Just enjoy the ride. The main takeaway from this film is that they totally screwed up the Deadpool character (which was a major reason Ryan Reynolds went on a personal crusade to redeem the character later). Great reaction as always, enjoy the vacation.

Lee Gannon

In the comics Wolverine wasn't born until around 1882-1885 and Victor Creed wasn't his brother but a boy called 'Dog' was. As for Gambit in the comics he has a relationship with Rogue and Stryker had nothing to do with Logan gaining his adamantium.

Anonymous

It is both frustrating and hilarious watching you get confused by things that have been clearly stated throughout the movie. :D

Edward Of DOOM

"Doctor X" is one of the coveted positions in the X-Universe. When Patrick Stewart was cast because of fan-polls online, they immediately gained instant following from about 90% of the X-Men fans out there. When Huge Jacked Man was cast as Wolverine, the only thing fans could be against was his height. He fit everything else and made that character iconic in the movies. Alos, there was a scene at the end where the military MPs catch up to Stryker and address the General's death. I am guessing you didn't see it, since your wrap up happens before the scene appears.

panacamanana

He was in every war. Wade in this film is completely not the Deadpool from the comics, and that's one of the many reasons no one likes this movie. They completely made Deadpool in this film a different thing. So just forget everything about him in this movie as it's not relevant for the future films.

Nicholas Hentges

Yeah this movie isnt very good, I was wondering if I would like it more after really enjoying the last viewing of The Last Stand, but this still the low point of the series. It was fun though, and the rest of the movies (besides deadpool) basically ignore this one.

Thomas Yanez

It IS kind of relevant, which is why people that know she's going to love "Deadpool" want to make sure she's seen this version first.

Ben Violette

The good news is, the next few X-men films, including the stand alone Wolverine films are all much better. I was originally saying you should just go ahead and watch Deadpool before these but it's really going to pay off in the end lol

Darryl Low

The Youtube link is an unlisted video and is for streaming only. You can download it using a third party Youtube downloader. The google drive download option is at the top right of the screen. Sometimes it does hit a download limit, but it does reset after a while.

George Baxter

What a X-Men film to end on... well its a franchise full of highs and crushing lows... but watching the bad films does give some perspective on the good. Superhero stuff can be very cheesy. Also you couldn't tell which wars we were seeing? it went from WW1 to WW2 to Vietnam... That's America history right!?!

Jomero

The "Fat joke" scene was to show another character from the comics: The Blob. His mutant power is, well, yeah..... a fat joke. But he also has super strength and his main power is that he can be 100% immobile. Essentially the "Immovable Object" to Juggernaut's "Unstoppable Force." And not sure if you've made the connection yet (still watching) but Victor (Sabertooth) is the same person from the first X-Men movie (different actor though). Magneto's long blonde-haired growly henchman was Sabertooth. I don't think that's ever fully explained in any of the movies, but the average X-Men fan knows it.

Frank Rosales

X-Men: First Class is considered a soft reboot of the franchise.

Anonymous

ty so much for reacting to this, great reaction! I know this can be a bit of a "guy movie", in some moments but you got the gist of the tragedy that is wolverine. =D, p.s. you can wipe this deadpool from your memory now too... the deadpool franchise is basically a reboot, but within the same universe and with the same actor...lol

Anonymous

Hey slip in GREEN LANTERN before Deadpool ;)

Ilsuk Yang

So, you've actually seen Victor before in the first X-Men movie. He's the big, hairy guy who growls a lot. They cast a shorter actor (he's still over six feet tall, though) in this movie and, for some reason, made him look more human. Anyways, just a fun fact! Enjoy visiting family and taking some time off!

Steve J

Nat, you seem to be approaching these X-men movies like they're a tightly interconnected series like the MCU. They are most definitely not. After X3 you can pretty much throw all continuity out the window. The timelines won't make sense, characters histories and situations won't line up, etc, etc. Definitely treat each one from here as essentially a stand-alone movie that uses some of the same characters and occasionally actors. It would be another decade before the MCU showed how movies like these could be linked together into a larger story.

Valar Dohaeris

I can't believe I submitted myself to this movie again, just because Nat shared it today... Well, I guess at least I got a refresher on the "original" Deadpool. Good stuff 🤣

Lucifer Moon

the problem with all the bad xmen movies are that they are not assembled well most of the scenes in those films work really well by themselves but do not flow when put together.

Chief

NAT - NO SPOILERS HERE: I think one thing that wasn't made clear was that his brother, the character called Sabertooth (played by Liev Schreiber) was the same character that was played by Tyler Mane in the first X-Men film. He does have a healing factor, similar to Wolverine's, but not quite as strong. And yes, they both are extremely long-lived. As well, the 'sixth sense' you've noted isn't a supernatural sense, it's that Wolverine (and Sabertooth, as well) both have heightened senses of smell and hearing, which is why you see his nostrils flaring when he's smelling something in the air. And Cyclops' real name is Scott Summers, younger brother of Alex Summers. PS - you can disregard the Wade Wilson/Deadpool depiction in this film, for the most part, as it gets dropped by the wayside in the standalone films, other than casting. Great work, as always!

Anonymous

Remy LaBeau, a.k.a. Gambit, has the mutant ability to charge anything he touches with kinetic energy, essentially energizing an item's molecules until they become combustable. Basically, anything he touches can become explosive. He's known for throwing kinectically-charged playing cards as projectile weapons.

Papi Dillion

New Mutants is actually classified as marvels first horror movie. and its not part of any of the xmen movies. all new characters. and actually was really good

Papi Dillion

you also might want to look into watching spiderman 1, 2, and 3. and the amazing spiderman 1 and 2 before spiderman no way home comes out. just a suggestion

Connor Ellis

THIS IS NOT DEADPOOL. They bastardized and entirely fucked up the character. You'll see in the actual Deadpool films.

Anonymous

Just a small point, apparently at the beggining you seem to think that Adamantium = Vibranium. In the MCU at this point Adamantium haven't been introduced yet, so I can't say for sure if it's going to be the same. But they are separate metals, but extremely rare. Vibranium has the hability of absorbing all forms of vibrations and is very rare. Adamantium is the strongest metal in the universe, virtually undestructible, also extremely dense, able to cut through any material. Adamantium is a synthesized alloy made with Vibranium and other metals. Only whatched some of this movies and this one only once, so I'm really happy to rewatched some of them and get to watch the ones I skipped finally

Lorenzo Baxter

I'm not sure she's great at paying attention. Kind of getting irritating at this point. There is no reason to watch something if you're not going to absorb what's there.

Erik Stevenson

Well, from here on out, there's only a couple more movies this bad in the XMen franchise haha. But you also have the absolute best left, including some of the best comic book movies in existence! It's a roller coaster for sure but this is a fun franchise to re-watch with ya.

Myles Away

This movie is terrible. It is so badly written, the VFX look awful, and the continuity is absurd. However, it is so bad that it is entertaining but I don't think you quite saw it that way. I was shocked you didn't roast some the bad green screen more. The more you watch this "series" you'll learn there is almost no continuity. It is the vaguest of connections. Especially with Deadpool.

Anonymous

That wasn't their only mission together. That was just the one that Logan had had enough. The editors didn't do a very good job of letting you in on the time jumps.

Thomas Yanez

Regarding Ryan Reynolds and this version of "Deadpool": take the movie "Deadpool" at face value and enjoy it for what it is, without consideration for this movie. Just put it out of your mind for now. THEN, you can bring it back out for "Deadpool 2".

Thomas Yanez

And the character is a choad and I was never able to stand him in the comics. But, everybody seems to love him for some reason so I must be wrong.

Thomas Yanez

Yeah, but now that she's seen this version of Wade Wilson, she'll be able to share in one of the best jokes in the proper Deadpool movies.

Lucifer Moon

Gambit's power is best classified as Kinetic-Energy Amplificition and Acceleration as well as Particle Acceleration

Lucifer Moon

I like that they showed stryker's son was shown in one of his freezing pods.

sammi

If anyone needs help syncing the reaction to the movie on Disney+ you can try out this browser extension that I developed: https://www.casper.live/ You can pause and jump around in the reaction and everything is kept in sync. My recommended "offset" for this reaction is 314.85.

Troy B.

This wasn't as bad as I remembered! Also, they didn't explicitly state it, but the various different wars were depicted with related weaponry and vehicles, though I realize if one doesn't regularly watch military-related movies that it might not be readily obvious, and them not visibly aging at all (after showing them as kids) couldn't have helped matters.

Anonymous

They were on Striker's team for more than one mission.

Anonymous

Definitely needed to pay off all the easter eggs in the Deadpool series haha

This_Jedi_crafts

"She's cute...she's gonna die, isn't she?" ..."Cause she's totes adorable." From that moment, I just laughed and enjoyed the reaction! Thanks for another fun Friday, post-work fun experience! Safe travels and safe, long weekend!

"DR. X" lmao I love these watchalongs

Misty Crom

Just first off, I just checked on Wikipedia and The Wolverine would be before First Class. Also, James having been born in (I'd guess) 1833 (to put him at 12 when the movie starts), he'd have been over 170 years old at the point of the first X-Men movie . Makes Jean's "He could very well be older than you, Professor" comment kind of funny. Also Logan's own line to Scott (Cyclops); "You ever been in a real war, boy?" unwittingly said by a guy who fought in pretty much all of 'em. At least in America. I always kinda enjoyed this movie... it's got some reeally bad cgi and green-screen and some scenes are a bit... crap; but at the same time, over-all it is good fun, and some parts are genuinely pretty good. That said, would've been so great if the intro bit had more been the movie. Oh, and Victor is Sabretooth, from the first X-Men, who always wants Storm to scream.

Inverse Voltage

Hey, Nat. Great reaction. I really enjoy your content. I wanted to help clear some more things up for you. First off, Victor's callsign is Sabertooth, which you might recognize from the first movies. They got a different actor to play him like they did with Stryker. Secondly, Logan and Victor both have incredible healing abilities and that is actually their only X gene mutation. That healing is why they are able to live for over 200 years without signs of aging. I forget the story behind why they have the crazy bone and nail defects, but it is not caused by a mutation in their X gene. Thirdly( This is gonna be a long one), Weapon 11, or Wade Wilson, had so many different powers because that is what Stryker was experimenting with. When Logan was basically interrogating Duke, he said that Stryker was taking the Mutant's powers. He was taking samples of their X gene and refining it, turning them into a usable weapon. When Logan first broke into the lab and was talking to Stryker, Stryker said "My son was the first piece of the puzzle, and you(Logan) were the last." Stryker got a sample of both Logan's and Victor's healing abilities. Victor gave Stryker a sample, and Logan's, he got when they gave him the adamantium skeleton. Wade also had John's teleportation powers, that Victor got when he killed him, and Scott Summer's laser vision. I remember Stryker said that Weapon 11 had 13 different powers in his body, but he only demonstrated those 4 from what I could tell. I grew up watching the X-men TV shows, so I feel like I understand a lot more of what's going on in the timelines for all the movies. The big robot from the opening fight scene of X2? That was an Easter egg from the first show that aired from 1992-97. It's called a Sentinel, they were developed by Stryker Industries to hunt mutants, and they appear in the first episode. Anyway, if you're still reading this, thank you for reacting to this series. It's one of my favorites and it gives me a good excuse to go back and watch them all again. Keep up the great work.

Logan Kerlee

WE NEED TO GET NATALIE TO WATCH HIGHLANDER!! Holy crap, it would make me so happy to have her watch them. Well, really, just the first. The rest can be missed. xD

JarHead0351

You are new to the X-Men, while most of us have been fans for many years and read the comic books as kids/teenagers/adults which is why some did not like a few movies or loved them and know the back stories of the X-Men. FYI what have taken notice is that you are missing the clips at the end of the movies as they did in the Avengers movies - I love how you figure some things out- keep it up - take notice that the base was at 3 mile island nuclear plant which is in Pennsylvania - enjoy your time off

Tony Johnson

Doctor X! That was probably the highlight of the movie, lol. It's probably a plus that you're taking a break because things are about to get confusing once you get to First Class.

Skizane

Just a couple things I noticed in the credits: Weapon XI, other than closeups of Ryan Reynolds, was played by the amazing Scott Adkins, one of the best and hardest working martial artists working in films today. Also, the "fight/action design" was by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, both veteran stunt men and fight coordinators from the Matrix trilogy and many others who later went on to create and direct the John Wick films.

Anonymous

This movie is by far the worst in the series. It's all up hill from here.

YodatheHobbit

Remmy had no idea what Logan's motivations were at the bar. Logan started asking too many questions so he tried to kick his ass. Not complicated. The movie had an entire monologue of Striker explaining to Logan that his son was the first piece and Logan was the last piece of puzzle to create a mutant, a "deadpool", mutant 11 with as many abilities as possible without ripping that person apart. I mean they showed Victor taking DNA samples! They literally explained that his purpose was to have all the powers. I really don't see how you forgot that. I'm surprised people don't really care about you missing end credits scenes enough to warn you. That's a bit odd. They only like to complain when you didn't check for one, LOL. I just assumed there would be a few people who've watched you for a long time, long time patrons, mods, etc who would give you big warnings in advance of which films have end credit scenes to watch out for when you're about to watch one. I think I'll take a look at the rest of the X-Men films and let you know which have them. I've honestly forgotten a few myself.

Cody Steele

Ooo! Natmares! I hope that she watches The Mist. Complete that Frank Darabont and Stephen King trilogy in October. Or Pumpkinhead... Because it's my Halloween movie

Frank Rosales

She's watching them in order of when they can out so First Class was in 2011 and the Wolverine was 2013

Anonymous

Oh boy do I hate this movie. Interested to see how Nat likes it tho

Anonymous

Listen, i have the curse of falling in love with any woman i come in contact with, but Natalie is the exception for calling Professor X, Doctor X.

Jerick E

I've seen multiple people say that Nat is watching these in Release Order, but I still firmly believe that she can alter it by watching Logan last. Go with X-Men First Class, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 1 and 2, maybe even New Mutants as part of Natmares....and then finally Logan so she can finish with a very strong film.

Dani

Can't wait for you to watch Deadpool. This movie got a lot of hate from comic book fans for the way they changed and played with Deadpool's character. But it made some amazing jokes in Deadpool 1 and 2 lol.

Anders Johansen

One thing that you need to know about the Xmen franchise is that the continuity is not at all on the level of the MCU. Details change from movie to movie, and some stories seem to not influence the next ones down the line at all, or they change entire backstories. Just wanted to tell, so you aren’t too caught by surprise or confused 😊

Garrick Smalley

I am going to echo Steve J and some others on “the next films are a reboot and continuity can be thrown out the window”. In the comic world the reboot is called retcon. With characters that have been around for 20-75 years their past is… malleable. For Natmares there is an X-movie that could fit in, The New Mutants it came out in 2020. None of the X-men are in it but the characters are equivalent to say if Scott Summers and the rest had graduated collage and were off to the wide world these kids would be freshmen in high school. Please tell me you know what 3 mile island is. Had fun reacting with you and you never hearing my corrections in the beginning. 😂😂😂 Keep up the good work.

Matthew s

When I found out this movie was written by Benioff from GoT, it all made so much sense

Tony Mandler

I will be taking a break as well I do not like scary movies see ya after Halloween.

Kevin Mowery

People have already said that was a bad take on Deadpool. And a lot of the rest of the movie didn't hang together very well. But Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins (Gambit and Kayla) star in the completely unrelated to the X-movies "John Carter," a big-budget Disney sci-fi flop that is super-long and tanked at the box office but I think is actually pretty good.

Nick of Time

Well at least now you’ll get an eventual Deadpool joke 😆

Thomas Yanez

Yeah, I'm normally a release order kind of guy, but I could get behind this

Nicholas Sulikowski

Yeah....I rewatched X-Men: The Last Stand with you, and was surprised by how pretty okay it was, despite not liking it when it first came out. This film is not that. It's pretty bad in my opinion. Full of clichés and strange leaps of logic, and some characters' motivations just been completely underdeveloped. This movie also did Gambit dirty. In the comics, he and Rogue are actually a long-standing couple, and they BOTH have a lot of character development. Check out the X-Men: The Animated Series, also on Disney+, to see what I mean. You may also notice the unique choice in title of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The reason for this is that at one point Fox imagined doing a whole series of origin films for various characters. They had planned on doing X-Men Origins: Magneto at one point. But the poor reception of this film made them rethink that. Mild spoiler, though not really, but X-Men: First Class ends up absorbing a good deal of the idea of exploring Magneto's origin from the never made X-men Origins: Magneto.

Natalie somehow misses Vietnam (what do they teach kids in school these days??), but still revokes Xavier's entire professor degree and demotes him to Doctor. I've barely recovered from those laughs when she hits us with the "oh she's cuteshe'stotallygonnadie", no pause. That woman was draped in the largest death flag they could find. Holy cow I never noticed Remy's completely random fight-interruption. I could have sworn there was a line there about "not here" or something, but there totally isn't. Why the fuck did he do that? :D I had not seen this movie in ages, so this was great fun. I think the massive amounts of cheese in the fight and stunt choreography kinda saves this movie. This is the best 90's action movie, which is not really a compliment as it's late-late-2000s. Oof. 10/10, would laugh at again in 9 years. Well, at this point, I'd just pull up the Golden youtube video of this.

This is by far my favorite X-men movie. Its not perfect by any means but story-wise its the most impactful to me. I think they did a darn good job considering how they had to cram like a couple hundred years of life into one movie. I can understand why its not everyone favorite but I absolutely adore it. Then again, I am also a huge sucker for an origin story, for example Batman Begins is my favorite of that series as well. And the fact that I don't care about the comics and whether or not they stick with them probably helps me like it more as well lol. Anyway, glad you are watching all of these in order! I'm not a huge deadpool fan at all but I think what they tried to do with his origin here is very cool and adds to the character in my mind.

Travis

I’ve always thought this was the worst x-men movie and it’s even worse than I remembered. I didn’t even get frustrated with all the things you missed because the movie does such a bad job of explaining itself. The good ones are on the way though 💪🏽

Kal-El_138

Logan and Victor's heightened senses and retractable bone claws/claws are part of their mutations. The sentinel easter egg was in X-Men 3. Isn't it Trask Industries?

Kal-El_138

Victor Creed is Sabretooth, the same character from the first X-Men film. Logan/Wolverine's birth name is James Howlett. Cyclops' name is Scott Summers. Also, Charles Xavier is Professor X not doctor x.

The main issue with this film is the lack of logic of the plot. It seems that they fit the story to fit in cool scenes and new characters that fans wanted to see. Like Deadpool and Gambit. However they were poorly introduced and didn't explain their motivations. Fans specially were upset with the way they treated Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds evens jokes about it now. This is the only apparition in the X Men timeline. The Deadpool movies are not connected to the X Men universe although Deadpool usually jokes about them.

Rudolph Koch

there are some Easter eggs from the comics, but because sony messed up the to timelines, the deadpool, was a BIG mistake made in the movie, but in the comics Logan's love was called Silver Fox and she manipulated Logan's mind in the weapon X program. If you follow the Wolverine comic timeline they cover all of these memories.

David Benioff (one of the Thrones show runners) wrote this film.

Once again my dislike of the Fox X-Movies is reaffirmed. An enjoyable Reaction watch, but damn, watching someone who doesn’t know the comics (which is totally fine) watch this really helps point out the flaws of it apart from the comics. Re-Designing Victor/Sabertooth so badly that Nat didn’t put together who he was. The fact they NEVER explain why he’s called Logan. “Deadpool.” The poor establishment of time frame. Weirdly trying to shoehorn the events into the TMI incident for some reason. (which growing up near it, to the point I could see the cooling towers from one side of my high school, was kinda cool but really weird be use it’s a well documented event.) And just the over all lack of explanation for many things and behaviors. And the really really lame “adamantium bullet” concept. The fact they never elaborate on his animal like senses for scent/hearing, and how he was duped to believe Kayla was dead…just really bad writing. Rant over. Really can’t wait to see what the MCU will do with these characters.

This movie has its issues, and earns its place low on the list of X-Men movies, but I love Liev Schreiber's performance, and there are a couple really cool scenes. The CGI is really painful to watch though, and it sadly holds up worse than the first X-Men movie. This movie always makes me want to watch Kate and Leopold though, which also stars Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber (As well as Meg Ryan), in a romance movie.

Doug Watson

Thank you for telling us how you're watching these; HBO, Prime, Netflix. On Prime there's 3 versions to watch, all with different run-times, and none of them seemed to match up.

Laura Thornley

Rewatching the movie... yeah, its pretty bad. Has some great moments, and most of the issues aren't due to the cast (they are mostly great or fine) - its the writing and the weirdly crude CGI. The movie feels like it was rushed. Also, shouldn't Logan have holes in his skull adamantium? The point of the bullets was they could pierce it, so even though he healed there should still be holes when viewed in an X-Ray. Just another problem with the movie, I suppose. Also, this version of Deadpool SUCKS. Thank goodness they did right by him later on.

Laura Thornley

Well you say that, but Deadpool 2 suggests otherwise (and yeah, its just a cameo but still).

Marty McGee

Yeah, this movie was fun. It was cheesy in some parts, really bad in others, and like everyone else has said butchered Deadpool. But, it was still fun. The good thing is that you really don't have to worry about the story connecting to the rest of the franchise. Yes, it sort of related to X2, but otherwise it was just a story of how Wolverine came to be. Same with the other Wolverine stand-alones. That's a good thing because it allowed the Deadpool movies to be made correctly. I still like this movie. Hugh Jackman just plays him superbly as he always has. It's just that everything around him in this movie was so bad...in a good way...mostly. As far as the jokes in Deadpool go, do I dare suggest you watch Green Lantern? Nah, I wouldn't subject you to that. LOL

Annie519

I remember really enjoying it at first, I thought all the new characters they introduced were interesting but in only about 10 minutes in they have Logan (Jimmy) split up with them and for me the movie went downhill from there. I hope this means you will do First Class next! It's SO good! First Class, Days Of Future Past and Logan are the best x-men films!

FUTURE X-MEN MOVIES WITH END CREDITS SCENES: The Wolverine - 1 mid credits scene Days of Future Past (Rouge Cut) - 1 mid credits scene and 1 after credits scene Deadpool - 1 after credits scene Apocalypse - 1 after credits scene Deadpool 2 - 1 very long "credits" scene (Super Duper Cut- 1 more after credits scene)

asia roberson

You really need to stop missing the post credit scene in these movies and yes James is Logan real name. Nice reaction though.

Vidcutter

Jackman carried this movie on his back the whole way through. The only other thing I liked about it was Gambit, I thought the portrayal was well done, inconsistencies with the comics notwithstanding

warcrimes

Well the good news is that you've gotten trough 2 of the worst movies in the Xmanverse. The Wolverine is pretty decent then they reboot the series with a couple of good entries before the shitty third one before finishing with the amazing Logan, my fave comic book movie.

Laura Thornley

I haven't seen Dark Phoenix (I think that's what its called?) but have seen all the rest - and you're right. Sure, Apocalypse isn't 'great' but its not the worst.

Daniel Vezina

Actually the guy ay the end isn't Ryan Reynolds. He got so piss how David Benioff(one of the dumdass , D&D, who ruins Game of Thrones), shut Deadpool off, that he did not showed for those seen. Everything you saw about Deadpool(except for the first scene) as nothing to do with the character.

Daniel Vezina

AFTER 2008 COMICBOOK MOVIES ALWAYS = END CREDIT SCENE, ALWAYS. 1 EXCEPTION TO CONFIRM THE RULE "ENDGAME" THAT'S IT. COMICBOOK MOVIES SETS UP NEXT ISSUES.

Geez... Almost everyone of these X-Men movies are just terrible... and I've been an X-Man fan since Uncanny X-Men #168 and The New Mutants #1 (1983). It really gives you an appreciation for what Marvel Studios has been able to accomplish and gives you a lot of hope for the future X-Men movies now that they are back home where they belong. PLEASE take nothing whatsoever from this appearance of Deadpool other than how bad it is, because that will be directly referenced later. Honestly, the two Deadpool movies and Logan were the only truly great things to come out of the Fox franchise, though I personally enjoyed the New Mutants and parts of Days of Future Past as well. Here's hoping that the MCU finally gets Mystique right.

I really maintain that the second gen movies are all hit-or-miss. Half of them aren't very good at all unless you have a ton of sentiment towards it. You can just watch the good ones and skip all the rest: - First Class - Days of Future Past - Logan If you don't bother with the rest, you generally don't miss anything storywise and you don't have to sit through a bunch of mediocre cashgrabs.

Sean Stuart

If you love Hugh jackman. I suggest after Logan watching The Fountain and Les Miserables

David of the North

At this point I say watch them all. If you liked X-Men Last Stand, I don't see why you won't like the others. At this point now you can start Deadpool any time you want. Also, give the spin off New Mutants some thought. I liked it more than I thought that I would.

Anonymous

Keep in mind that First Class is a soft reboot of the franchise, so many previously seen characters will be different going forward.

X-Men Oranges: Tangerine

djKENTO

When you get to Days of Future Past try and get the Rogue Cut. There’s a whole plot line in that version that was ripped from the theatrical. I think you’ll appreciate it more.

jim shields

when you get to Logan you've reached the pinnacle. That film makes the rest look amateur imo.

Anonymous

This movie is not considered canon for any of the X-men films. You can honestly disregard what happened here. You can also watch Deadpool whenever you feel like. It is also not really in canon for the X-men universe.

devin flynn

This is the origin story and logan is the Finale

Wu Sha Ling

deadpool and wolverine are part of the weapon X program, seen in X2. Both have healing factors. the movies mix up the details, and may not be true there. but that is their connection.

Ashley Faith

no X-Men all month! when are will you be picking back up?

Cory Silver

Cheesy lines is, not quite the thing people objected to. It was just a very bad adaptation. You see, there's this thing with hollywood or whatever, or at least there was, where like, that could have been the one shot. That's THE big screen phoenix story. The only one we'll ever get. But now, we know that someday the X-Men will join the MCU and it'll all be done right. If it takes 7 years to build up the story, they have the time to do that. Since Disney OWNS Fox, there's no worry about losing the rights. It's a very cool sign that things aren't being rushed, at least as far as I can tell. I mean, we have all the movies, and it all culminates with Fantastic 4. Will the X-Men be introduced in these non X-Men movies? Maybe some mutants will be in Ant Man 3. Who knows? So Origins Wolverine. What do I remember about this, other than like, they really mess up a few things, and it has a game based on it that's pretty great, because they were making a Wolverine game for like, 2 years, then just turned that into the movie tie in game. Who knows? I've written all this... 2 minutes and 17 seconds into your vid. Movie hasn't even started yet. But yeah, I haven't seen this movie in years. Should be an interesting rewatch.

Cory Silver

The CGI of the claws in the bathroom lok straight out of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. They look full on cartoon. So Gambit's power is to imbue things with kinetic energy. He uses cards because it looks cool, and you can carry them in stacks, but he can turn anything into a kinetic "bomb". He can also apply the kinetic force to his staff too. In the comics Gambit and Rogue have been an item forever. The reason people hate this movie so much, is they just, blundered all the representations of the characters. The Blob is one of the earliest X-Men villains, I think he was like, in issue 4 or something. He worked at a circus, and Professor X wanted to add him to the team as the sixth member, but he didn't want to, and joined up with Magneto instead. The main thing people had against this movie is just how terrible they did Deadpool. At the start, he was pretty close to the character, but yeah. The fans did not want this to continue, it was an instant "No, do not continue this". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWqu87Rr9ko Here's some cool articles - https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/ryan-reynolds-told-xmen-origins-producers-making-mistake-deadpool/ https://screenrant.com/worst-deadpool-scenes-x-men-origins-wolverine/ https://screenrant.com/x-men-origins-wolverine-deadpool-solo-movie-facts-trivia/
