So hyped for tomorrow’s episode

Randee Carreno

Happy Marvel Monday, Natalie! 😊 I've got to say Zemo is one of the highlights of this series, other than the great dynamic between Sam & Bucky. The purple mask was a nod to that same mask that Zemo wears in the comics. Sharon is a mystery up until the last episode. That is actually Ayo that showed up at the end. She's the Dora Milaje's second in command behind Okye. She's the one that was in "Captain America: Civil War". She was T'Challa's bodyguard. And told Natasha "Move. Or you'll be moved." I pretty much have the same feelings as you do about John Walker aka Captain America. But Wyatt Russell does a fantastic job with this role. You're in for a ride with these last 3 episodes. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Happy Marvel Monday and thank you Nat for this chill episode 😄 I understand your feelings about the characters, and I'm looking forward to your next reactions and to see the evolution of your opinion! I hope your week will be great, I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

zemos mask was an easter egg to the comics and the reason he killed the scientist was because zemo hates super soldiers and killing the scientist would mean no one would be left alive who could make more serum so he killed him. Also Donya, the lady they mentioned was the woman that Karli went to visit that was dying (and who did die by the end). She was a sort of Mother Teresa for that place and a mother figure to Karli especially

So, they're talking about Marvin Gaye because of the opening scene from the second Captain America movie where Steve first meets Sam. Steve tells him how he has a lot to catch up on and Sam tells him about the "Trouble Man" album. He says something along the lines of "Everything you need to know in one package" or something like that. So Steve wrote down Trouble Man into the notebook we've seen Bucky use during this show. Onto why you might not feel so invested yet. They apparently had a much different plot in place for this show at first, but they made a lot of changes and shot a whole slew of re-shoots for this show. Most people believe that there was a huge plot thread about a pandemic which they changed due to COVID-19. Of course Disney is denying that this is the case, but then again, Disney isn't exactly the most forthcoming company...

After last week's show, this one was sorely lacking that dynamic between the characters. It was almost like 2 cops out on a case. Nothing remarkably "Marvel" about it. Anyway, onwards and upwards to Episode 4. Hope you had a good weekend Nat and thanks for today's video 💛

Madripoor in the comics is a place sometimes frequented by Wolverine (as Patch) and Jessica Drew the original Spider-Woman. The Princess Bar is a usual haunt of Logan.

Kevin Bartelen

I think the only reason they had Zemo dawn that purple mask is because the mask and jacket combo is his costume from the comics and with his MCU portrayal they probably don't otherwise know if he'll have another excuse to wear it ever. In the comics he's more of a WW2 Captain America villain.

Things are gonna start getting more interesting in the next episode. Things do pick up and some serious crap starts going down. And since you just started watching the X-Men movies, it's worth pointing out that Madripoor is a notable location in the comics as one of Wolverine's preferred places to hang out. Though Madripoor isn't visited in the X-Men films, its inclusion here seems to be another little step toward integrating the X-Men into the MCU.

next episode best one of the series ;)

Dani

Can't wait for ep4! it's the best.

Hi Natalie, Here's a bit of context from the Madripoor comics. Madripoor is a fictional island apparently inspired by Singapore. Both are Southeast Asian island port nations with a single major city. Its capital and great city is Madripoor, which is divided between Hightown and Lowtown. This serves to represent the extreme social inequality in Madripoor, described as "a place for the very rich and the very poor." The nation was taken over by HYDRA by Madame Hydra as the de facto ruler, using the nation to fund terrorist plots against the world. The side effects of this are seen in Spider-Woman: Agent Of S.W.O.R.D. With HYDRA's terrorist operations causing deaths by the thousands, Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. they were tasked with overthrowing the HYDRA regime and placing the nation in the hands of Tyger Tiger, as she was the only person, aside from the absent Patch - who the natives would follow in the event of a revolt. Stark wanted someone to run Madripoor the right way without needing someone else to supervise them and make sure the situation didn't repeat itself. Yes, I know, I'm a bit of a fanatic comic reader. Greetings from Mexico

john collins

Don't worry it'll all come together! :)

TwistedMagoo

Almost all...I won't spoil, but there is one part that never fully comes together in my opinion.

Ron K

Hi Natalie, I think the reason Sam, Bucky and I'm sure Steve too, is cause those 3 all fought in the final fight against Thanos that saved the entire universe this time. Governments were probably little more inclined to forgive and forget cause of that. Sharon wasn't part of that fight and was off the grid. I'm guessing but seems logical.

WackySwacky

Bucky and Sharon killed a lot of people in this episode lol. Also, Sharon still being a wanted person after everything is extremely forced.

Travis

Youre such a trooper for feigning interest in this mediocre show 😅 Next episode is definitely the best one.

Paul Gibbons

They don't hide it that well though, there are still mentions of vaccines that is what they are loading on the plane in ep2 and it's obvious thats what mama Donya is dying of even if they don't say.

I think it makes sense why Sharon wasn't pardoned. Everyone who was in the two battles was pardoned. She wasn't there. That is certainly not perfect, but I still find it plausible enough.

Andy Smith

Sharon wasn't evil she was shield not hydra. She was on fury's side and was a true shield agent who fought against hydra.

Cerra101

Pretty sure the only reason why the avengers that broke the law and Bucky were pardoned and Sharon wasn’t was because they fought against Thanos and brought everyone back. Sharon just wasn’t there for all that 😂. if you’re not familiar with the lore or comics, nothing will stand out to you so I can see why you’re not that invested.

WackySwacky

It's implausible that they would have just forgot about her. That's not believable at all.

The problem with the show is it's hard to be invested in a show that shows only hopelessness. A world without borders is like watching your favorite sport, but there is only one team. Competition is necessary. The other real problem is ... the vast majority of people just got people they loved back. There are some undesirables that came back as well, but many of them also had someone that cared for them. The countries that produced the most food would likely still have been able to produce just as much since automation is common in those countries. People who have returned would have to adapt to finding a job again, but with everyone that returned the jobs would quickly become available. I doubt the basic premise that things would be as tough as portrayed after the blip. There would be some tough adjustments, but it was only five years. If it had been more like 20 I could better understand the situation.

Joe Blankenship

They were talking about Marvin Gaye because Bucky is using the same little notebook that Steve was using to write down stuff he missed.

Steve J

I also did not engage with this series. This was coming after being really happy with WandaVision, and currently think Loki was super, super fun. I haven't even watched the reaction videos on this series, just checking the last few minutes of each to hear any thoughts. Also, I don't mind Marvel mixing in some social commentary with the action, but the commentary in FaWS just seemed kind of put in for the sake of some social justice checklist put together by a Disney committee. I didn't feel any heart behind any of the messages and perspectives being presented.

Jomero

I didn't hate the series, but did feel it was the weakest of the current ones on D+. And I like the two main characters. I think ScreenRants' "Pitch Meeting" video pretty much summed up all the issues I had with the show.

Erik Stevenson

I do think the second half is better than the first; the first three episodes are almost just setting the stage for the last three. That said, the best things about this series IMO are the character moments and character development, rather than the main through-lines of plot.

This_Jedi_crafts

I "hear you" on not being totally invested. Sometimes I just "get into it' because it's "Marvel content." As with WandaVision, I had to go watch several "NewRockstars" YouTube videos for "breakdowns and easter eggs" on this series. The producers DO pack a lot into the short series but I think you will LOVE Loki (though it can be super confusing and filled with philosophical issues (and again - it draws a lot from the comics, which I did not read).

Kate Herzig

Yeah, this show wasn't my cup of tea. Now, that said, it did make me love Sam. I've always liked Bucky, but Sam never really got his chance to shine and Anthony Mackie is too damn charismatic to just be relegated to a background character. The show does a lot for Sam. There are aspects I really enjoy and character dynamics I love, but overall it never quite hooked me. Not the way the other two shows did.

panacamanana

This show had a TON of rewritting that took place half way through to take out a "virus" that plagued the people placed in camps. The virus of course felt way too close to Covid so they removed them. Sharon's writing is the worst part of the show. I don't like what they did with her character.

Anonymous

That's literally Helmut Zemo's costume as Baron Zemo. Cap fought his father, Heinrich Zemo, in WW2, he was also Baron Zemo.

WackySwacky

Ya but Sharon's assistance was important to their ultimate victory, which would have been taken into account.

WackySwacky

The infrastructure to support that many people is all still there. The whole repatriation problem shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as it is portrayed in the show.

A Vicarious View

Ah Madripoor. You could consider it like a villain empire/sanctuary. You see them pass a sign for The Princess Bar which is a common hangout for Wolverine when he's laying low from the rest of the world.

A Vicarious View

Oh, and Sharon was branded a criminal with Cap, Black Widow, and Falcon when they all ran from the Sokovia Accords and helped Bucky. All of the Avengers that participated in the Endgame battle to bring everyone back and defeat Thanos were give conditional pardons. Unfortunately Sharon was not there in Endgame so was never offered a pardon. She still has charges for treason.

Jayson Phillips

OMG Russell looks just like his dad! Kurt Russell

Michael G. Munz

Anyone out there know if there's some source of finding out more about the time during the blip? A lot of it is rather implied in this series, but I want more...

nexus

At the end that was supposed to be black panther

I've read theories about the "virus" rewrite, but I think the showrunner has since denied that the dropped storyline was virus related. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/marvel/falcon_and_the_winter_soldier/the-falcon-and-the-winter-soldier-showrunner-confirms-cut-plotline-but-denies-it-was-pandemic-related-a184292#gs.7hkpnp

Connor Ellis

Oh no you missed Zemo dancing.

Jai Nelson

I am counting down the minutes to Thrones 6x9! Been waiting for this.

Anonymous

The series really should have been titled "Birdie and Bucky."

Anonymous

Correct me if im wrong, but Sam and Bucky were pardon because of their involvement saving the universe from Thanos along with the others. Sharon wasn't involved in that at all.

Sam Kimpton

I thought Karli being the "villain" (I think "antagonist" is a better term) was refreshing storytelling. I love any story that avoids having a proverbial mustache-twirling bad guy who's just bad for the sake of being bad. Karli's motivations were logical, grounded, and understandable, though extreme. It's the extremism that makes her the "villain". Same with Thanos.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Wow I'm so disappointed in myself, I can't believe how long I waited to watch this. I don't know why I thought I wouldn't like it, the whole Cap character and story is absolutely my favorite part of the MCU. Not to denigrate any other movies but for me it's the whole theme: about that sometimes confusing line between duty and morality, or if you like, bravery vs courage, that gives the whole thing its heart.
