This movie has been on Netflix for years it seems and of course now its gone.

Time to see if your reaction can change my view on this movie because it's one of the worst ones I've ever seen - Imo it is a terrible ending to the trilogy and did nothing good at all but it wouldn't be the first time your reactions have turned a bad film into a great experience! *cough* 50 Shades of Grey *Cough*

LegacyFilms

So excited to see this reaction. This movie was filmed in my hometown, which is why it holds such a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget driving through downtown Pittsburgh and seeing the Tumbler and just being at a loss for words. Many of the Pittsburgh Steelers are in the football scene, which was filmed at Heinz Field. Beautiful movie.

Ian

Happy Friday nat this is one of those rare occasions where I will be saving this reaction until tomorrow because the euros start tonight ⚽ I know I know how dare soccer come first 😂 I am English after all so....... Anyways thankyou for another great week of content and so many laughs have a lovely weekend enjoy the sunshine and stay as always golden 💛

Peter Yocum

I don't remember Bane's voice having as much clarity as it does here--I remember it being kinda muffled, and here it's standing out sharply and more clearly than anyone else. Did someone fix the sound after the theatrical release?

R.BGames37

So. Another trilogy down.. these goes so freaky fast. Got a few Trilogies for you Nat. °The Maze Runner 1, 2 & 3. (Action) °The Hunger Games 1-4. (Action) °Beverly Hills Cop 1-3. (Comedy) °Rush Hour 1-3. (Comedy) °The Grudge 1-4. (Horror) And got a few stand alone/2 parts movies too. The Green Mile (Drama) Bruce Almighty. (Comedy) The Ring 1 & 2. (Horror) Grave of the Fireflies (only if you completely ready for it, very very sad) Weekend At Barnies 1 & 2 (Comedy) Schidler's List (Only if you ready for it) Kill Bill 1 & 2. (Action) Greetings Raymond.

Tiger Chu

Kill Bill?

Danishprince

You need to have snacks on camera Nattie! We don't mind and you gotta be comfortable when watching movies :D

Anonymous

Did you watch Blade Runner 2049 yet?

R.BGames37

And yes.. Kill Bill is also a good 2 parter.

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday, Natalie! 😊 Downloading this right now to watch either later this afternoon or tonight. I totally forgot that this trilogy was on HBO Max. I've been syncing the previous two movies with Amazon Prime videos. I'm so excited to watch the conclusion to this amazing trilogy. Looking forward to watching this reaction during the day or evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Until next time, Stay Golden! 💛

Ethan Plumer

Now you have to watch the Badman shorts from college humor with Pete Holmes. They're hilarious!

Anonymous

fun fact regarding Nolan’s preferred use of practical effects: the entire opening scene, save for some sets and green screen usage, they used real planes and dropped one in Scotland 😊

Anonymous

When they did a sneak peek of the movie in IMAX, across the board the biggest complaint was Bane's voice. For the actual theatrical release, they adjusted the sound of his voice so it's more clear.

Joseph Phillips

That would be great for her try not to laugh on the second channel. . . . Is the answer "Helicopters"?

Peter Yocum

When these films were announced with Christian Bale in the lead, he was known for some amazing performances (American Psycho and The Machinist come to mind) so he had an enormous amount of good will earned from audiences, and I think he did his best, but I agree with Nat that his Batman performances weren't the most inspiring of his career. Still, the movies were great and he didn't fuck them up so I'm disinclined to be too critical, but for a portrayal from an actor who seemed to get the character more, Batman v Superman does have something going for it, even if overall the movie is known as a mess.

Anonymous

I love this movie. It's definitely not perfect, and a bit too ambitious for its own good, but I really did love how it thematically tied back to "Batman Begins", and built from the events of "The Dark Knight". I was taken aback a bit at the criticism of Bale as Batman, but hey to each their own. He's not technically my favorite Batman, but I really do love his character arc through the 3 movies, and really is the only live-action version of the character that really feels like he has a story and journey beyond just being the good guy. Everyone across the board did a great job in their roles, especially Michael Caine turning in a more thoughtful, emotional side of Alfred. The plot was a bit too much for me, particularly in terms of the atomic bomb, but it still works in bringing back the League of Shadows' intentions to decimate Gotham so it can start from scratch... literally. The icing on the cake for me definitely was Joseph-Gordon Levitt's character of John Blake being Robin. I know it might be an unpopular opinion, but I really liked the re-imagining of the character in this way. Everyone wants to see the classic kid sidekick, but I think he simply wouldn't have worked with Nolan's Trilogy. They really strived to make THIS version of Gotham very no-nonsense and grounded. Having Batman draft a CHILD into battle wouldn't have been realistic, and it wouldn't make sense for this version of the character. I liked how he was essentially a composite of the Robin's from the comics at the time, and still played the sidekick role as more of an ally. In the comics, Batman always figured he'd leave the mantle of Batman (or the official duty of protecting Gotham) to one of the Robins, whether it be Dick, or Tim, or even Damian. Here in the movie, he leaves the duty to John Blake. So the movie really does honor the character of Robin, while fitting him into the more grounded, realistic tone that's been established by Nolan & Co. It really is a toss-up for me whether I like "Begins" or "Rises" more. "Begins" such a perfect execution of the comic-book movie origin story. But "Rises" carries the "Dark Knight" tradition of trying to move away from that template, and shift to another genre; in this case, the disaster and epic-type movie. Either way, it's a great ending to this trilogy, and great conclusion to this version of Batman & his mythos.

Anonymous

That "For Batman" line cracked me up good. xD

TrackHoodie

the only thing I dislike about this movie is that Alfred abandoned bruce. No other iteration of this character has ever abandoned bruce, regardless if Bruce was correct or not.

Christopher Boscarino

During the masked ball, Bruce is wearing his mask- Millionaire Playboy Bruce Wayne. Batman is the real Bruce Wayne.

Darryl Low

"I can't believe Gordon survived all 3 movies!" You've finally broken your jinx Nat 😊 I think you're allowed to put First Time Watching Nat, because you were so excited and shocked, and your reaction showed that. And I'm all for your eco-friendly commentary. The forests last time around, and in this one, the oceans. No respect, these film-makers. Your giddy round-up at the end and outro were so funny. Thanks as always for your amazing work this week. Have a great weekend Nattie G 💛

Peter Yocum

I'm not 100% sure if it's entirely because of Nat's reactions but I enjoyed this hugely, a lot more than when I saw it on its first release (I thought it was ok then). The line comparing the first (mismatched) Bane/Wayne fight to Mayweather vs Logan Paul is fucking classic. As well as saying it probably would have been better to go ahead and nuke Gotham instead of letting all the fish get nuked, and lots of other stuff. I loved this video. RIP fishies.

Calo Grsf

Thank you Nat for this reaction, you have reconciled me with the film 😄 I loved how you were concerned for Gordon, Alfred and the others charachters, you are always great 😁, and I loved how you were so confused for several moments in the film 😆 I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

For fun and less "heavy" movie, you can try watching Edge of Tomorrow.

JediLounger

If you want to watch the movie that Hardy got built for, Warrior came out the year before TDKR. Excellent film about complex family dynamics that I think you would enjoy.

Anonymous

Watched that one recently... Would gladly watch it again.

Navjot Singh

Loved the reaction and especially the fun little edits you added. 😄 And since you were wondering why the bomb didn't go off despite getting bumped or being close to gunfire etc, it's because the atom bombs are extremely stable and can withstand a lot of physical damage without triggering accidentally. They can be only blown off through a trigger or a detonator.

Anonymous

Nuclear explosions don't go off by bumping the casing around. :) It's probably not a good idea doing it but you could shoot a gun at the core and it wouldn't trigger the chain reaction needed to make things go boom in a big way.

Anonymous

Where is the statue for all the fish?

So glad you enjoyed this trilogy, Nat! It’s definitely among the best superhero movies I’ve ever seen. One thing I’d like to point out…I never could figure out why, but the pronouncement of “Ra’s Al Ghul”, specifically the “Ra’s” part, in these movies is incorrect. Phonetically, it’s pronounced “Raysh”, and the whole name is Arabic for “The Demon’s Head” or “Head of the Demon” (Ra’s is actually very similar to the Hebrew word Rosh, which also means head).

Master Washington

Also if you didn’t know Tom Hardy was Bane. Full inception cast basically

Brian Jones

I do love the ending tag on this film, it's very poetic and glad you enjoyed the trilogy.... I think I remember you saying you were a fan of musicals, was curious if you had seen Hamilton, and either way would love to see a react to the original cast performance on Disney+. Or the Rent film, or even In the Heights. Seems to be the year for musicals and the new trailer for Tick, Tick.....Boom got me thinking about them again. I'm a huge fan of Jonathan Larson, as well as Andrew Garfield, so I'm really looking forward to that movie later this year. Looks like it might even have Oscar potential. Have a good one, and great reaction as always.

Lilla Kriger

Loved this reaction Nat! And no matter how many times I've watched it, I always cry with Alfred. 😭😭😭

Lilla Kriger

Also if I can make a suggestion of reacting to the recent Planet of the Apes Trilogy? It also has Gary Oldman in it and is a devastating but also cathartic story 💜

Anonymous

Bane: Rrrruh biireeup cree! Batman: What?

Peter Yocum

On the show Arrow, most of them pronounced it Roz like the movie, but John Barrowman would always say Raysh. I have no idea why the discrepancy (why not use one or the other) and nobody ever addressed it directly. Similarly, in the wonderful show Berlin Station, most of the people pronounce Budapest the way it looks, but one person (Michelle Forbes) consistently calls it Budapesht, which I'm pretty sure is the right way. I kept hoping she'd get into a fight about it with the guys who pronounced it the first way (since they fought over everything else anyway), but they just acted as if there wasn't any difference, while each pronouncing it differently.

Anonymous

Another great reaction to a great trilogy. Love Michael Cain's Alfred. I think that you're safe to say "first time watching" on YouTube. From the parts you remember from the theater, I'm guessing you may have seen a preview whilst watching another movie?🤔💛

Chris Eggert

Have you seen the Prestige? That's another good Nolan film with Christian Bale and Michael Caine.

Vonlinchen

I personally really enjoyed Man of Steel. Similar feel to The Dark Knight trilogy. To be fair, I've enjoyed all Christopher Nolan's stuff.

Rime Pendragon

I wouldn't really worry about the damage the nuke did. It's only a low yield nuke. Plenty of those have been detonated above the ocean. The weapon testing at Bikini atoll for example.

Michael Labs

The fact that Scarecrow survived and was seen in all three movies has grown on me as an "Easter egg". As to a possible role the Joker might have played... he likely would have been too much of a wild card in the League of Shadows planning.

JediLounger

Just finished the reaction. I don’t think another member has commented on the very end, but Hathaway was wearing the Wayne family pearls, with the tracking device, which were mentioned as missing when they were going over the estate. So Alfred knew something was up.

Scott Greene

That would be fun, but I don't think she could do those because she'd have to silence all the music for YouTube.

Scott Greene

Question: If the reactor core was never built to be a bomb, was does it have a countdown timer? And exactly when did Bruce bail out so that he could survive? Too many questions...too many questions...

Endling_king

the count down timer would be for the time that you had left to reconnect it to the main unit. (from what it was detached from) so that whoever had it know how much time they had left. not meant as a count down timer for the bomb but it serves the same function.

My Toasty Toast

It’s been years since I’ve seen this movie! While I think the previous Dark Knight is my favorite of the three I forgot how brilliant the twists in this final chapter were! Unfortunately after Heath Ledger passed they couldn’t continue the Joker storyline but the original plan was to have him in this entry in a position similar to Crane (madman with the power only the “elite” had access to before). If he hadn’t passed I wonder what the original intention of this movie was/how different it would have been if the joker “answered” to Bane

Steve J

Are you sure you didn't just see the trailer at some point? Seems like the stadium collapse and climbing the pit were featured prominently in the trailer and might have just stuck in your head.

Steve J

quick google puts it at 60-70 detonations in the Pacific, plus who knows how many others over/under land as well as whatever USSR tested (another quick google puts it at over 2000 nukes total for everybody). That just means we kind of suck as a species, but I'm guessing in this instance the Atlantic would be mostly fine.

Stephen Woods

Yeah judging by your reactions definately your first time watching. BTW if you like Aiden Gillen (Littlefinger from GOT and the CIA agent at te start of this film) He also starred in The Wire, one of the best shows ever on TV, maybe you should watch it after you finish Game of Thrones. I also think the Batman voice is created by a voice modulator in his suit, when he has the suit on, he can't help but sound like Batman. Not everyone agrees with this theory.

Stephen Woods

Christian Bales best performance is still Empire of the Sun, when he was 12/13 years old

George Baxter

Are you claiming 'Man of Steel' is a Nolan film?! Ugh... He has a glory credit so that the DCEU could claim to have prestige. Literally! Saying Nolan is involved in Man of Steel is like saying Scorsese was involved in Joker!! The credit is there so that the actual director has permission to rip off a better movie

Jomero

Nat I am pretty much with you about Christian Bale's performance as Batman. I think he's a great actor, but he never really did do much with the character. However he was excellent in another Nolan film, The Prestige! As for the mid-air blood transfusion, it was to make people believe that the body found in the wreckage was Pavel's based on DNA forensics.

George Baxter

Nolan has always said that he never thought about an end of the trilogy until after Ledger passed. He pours all his energy into the film he's working on and doesn't hold back. So essentially Joker's arc was already finished in Dark Knight. He had to be convinced by the studio to make a third and you can kind of tell... I love the Comicbookyness of this movie but it feels convoluted and sluggish compared to the other 2. It still may be my favourite but that's inspite of its flaws!

Anonymous

Yeah he was 13, but I still think American Psycho is his best followed closely by Newsies.

JarHead0351

Christian Bales played a good Batman and it was a good change from the older Batman movies - should now look into Heath Ledger's Knight's Tale - he is outstanding as is the movie too

Lee Gannon

Ben Mendelsohn who played John Daggett was indeed in Rogue One and was also Talos in Captain Marvel and Spider-Man Far From Home,

NFXx

It was fun to watch your reaction for The Dark Knight Trilogy. You should definitely watch the Tim Burton Batman films and since you finished with the current MCU films maybe the DCEU films. Really love the ending like you said how it rounded up at the end also because he’s with Selina. Some people actually didn’t like the Robin reveal, not because we find out it’s him but the character Robin is not his real name it’s Dick Grayson. They probably went with that since the casual movie goers most likely know him by that name. There’s been quite a lot of Robins in the comics. The main 4 through the history of Batman comics Dick Grayson the original Robin now Nightwing, Jason Todd/Red Hood, Tim Drake/Red Robin and Damian Wayne the current Robin, the son of Bruce and Talia al Ghul. Just a little fun fact.

Anonymous

I’m so glad you decided to watch this trilogy Natalie. Rewatching this has cemented my opinion that these are the greatest superhero movies of all time, and close to being the greatest trilogy of all time. I also LOVED the ending and and really enjoyed the payoff from Alfred at the cafe. I think a superhero trilogy I would recommend next is the Sam Raimi Spider-man trilogy. Those are some of my favorites!

Prophet2272

One of my favorite reactions to this movie. Plus this movie for me gave me one of the most memorable voices I eventually used in DnD.

Myles Away

Great reaction. I like this movie even with its flaws. It goes big and is more about the big picture, themes, and spectacle. I am glad you enjoyed the end to the trilogy. The reason Bruce uses the "Batman voice" even around people who know his secret identity is when he is in costume and out in Gotham he is Batman. It's part of staying in that frame of mind. I personally wish the voice was not quite so extreme. I think about 50% of that would have been better. I've seen it mentioned previously but I think the first two Terminator movies would be a good double-feature if you have not seen those yet. They are both great films with different styles of filmmaking from the same director. They are each great in their own right and would be neat to see you compare them back to back.

Anonymous

Since you just recently watched Captain Marvel. The Actor who played Daggett, not only did he play Orsen Krenick in Rogue One, he also played The shapeshifter Skrull Talos in Captain Marvel and Spider Man Far From Home.

Anonymous

yo!!!!! Ive been saying the same thing!!!! everything in this series is gold BUT Bale! His batman voice gets annoying after the first movie. Although I like parts of his bruce wayne but that scene in particular when he and caine are hashing it out he adds nothing to the scene.

Joe Blankenship

I hope you watch the 89 Batman soon. Because I agree about Christian Bale. He does an okay job as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but Michael Keaton is much more interesting.

Peter Hudson

The 2nd in the trilogy is a masterpiece but this was a great one to end on; find it strange the Joker wasn't even mentioned once though

Anonymous

Talos is Skrull, not Kree, but otherwise spot on. Ronan the Accuser and Jude Law's character are Kree.

Peter Hudson

If Ledger had lived, I imagine he would've come back like Crane did; and imstead of pushing Bane's plans he would have been attacking him like he was everyone else in the previous movie. Would've been AWESOME but wasn't meant to be I guess

Anonymous

Would love for more Christopher Nolan or Quentin Tarantino stuff, since you watched Inception and the Dark Knight Trilogy! If you've never seen the Prestige or Memento they're both amazing from Nolan

Baron

Still don't trust me? Thanks for the awesome reaction!

Anonymous

“Did I even watch this MOVIE!?!?” Classic. You always have the best reactions, Natalie, but this was funny and I almost cried when you teared up regarding poor Alfred. And I know I am biased since I’m a huge Christian Bale fan but I am curious if you felt if there was anything lacking from him? I always felt he did a great job, especially since it’s three characters in his role, as the Batman, as the public Bruce Wayne and the Bruce only the very few ever saw. Glad you enjoyed one of the best trilogies ever made!

Ilsuk Yang

There's another GOT actor you missed, although I'm not surprised you didn't recognize him! Remember who Jon Snow fought at Craster's keep earlier in season 4?

Joe Blankenship

I guess you gotta put a question mark. First Time watching?

Anonymous

Batman/Bruce should usually be the least interesting character in the plot, I think they just over did it in this one and he fell a little too flat. I also feel like they tinkered with his and Bane's voice in post and couldn't make up their mind, sometimes it worked, sometimes it took me out of the movie. When I first saw this I enjoyed it more than dark knight, though dark knight was much tighter. In revisiting it, I think I appreciate dark knight more.

Travis

You can put **pretty much** first time watching

Anonymous

Maybe you just saw the trailer or the memes?

Anonymous

I think people tend to say this film isn't that good because of it's predecessor. The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger's performance were so damn good that it's practically impossible to follow up. It's a classic "Godfather trilogy effect" Godfather part III isn't a horrible movie but next to the first 2, it hardly holds a candle. In my humble opinion though I think TDKR is a fantastic ending to the trilogy. The first fight between Bane and Batman was incredible to watch and on par with the Joker interrogation scene. I think it's a real credit to everyone involved to use 3 different cities combined (L.A., Pittsburgh, and NYC) as Gotham City. Nat, in the scene for the Football game an interesting thing to know is that scene was filmed in Heinz Field the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Some of the actual Steelers at the time make up the Gotham City team including Ben Roethlisberger and Hines Ward. I wasn't the biggest fan of Christian Bale as Batman but he did grow on me as the trilogy went on. I'm actually from Aurora, CO (I don't mean to bring everyone down) but after the shooting here Bale showed up at the makeshift memorial that was across the street from the theater and didn't tell anyone he was coming. He laid some flowers and paid his respects and even visited some survivors in the hospital. After that I had immense respect for him and it showed what an incredible human he is. He's my favorite Batman hands down.

This_Jedi_crafts

Ben Mendelsohn was also in Ready Player One and in the small screen adaptation of Stephen King's "The Outsider" - he's amazing and SO versatile.

This_Jedi_crafts

This was a great way to spend my Friday night (after work) - so thankful that I joined this Patreon as I just love watching Nat react to such diverse content. I really look forward to these. Thanks for all of the content.

Anonymous

I require a Batman: Under the Red Hood reaction, pls.

Matthew Periolat

I completely missed Ben Mendelssohn until this viewing! Thanks, Nat! And better, he’s got regular work in Marvel as the Skrull Talos. By the way, if you believe the rumor mill, Crane wasn’t meant to be the judge, the Joker was. But, with Heath’s passing, they had Crane as a logical step in. And I too love the end. Bruce fixed everything. Saved the city, got the girl and left it in care of a Robin. Love Gordon-Levitt rising on the platform at the end and knowing the universal truth. There will always be a Batman. But now… of course I will suggest the 89 Batman series for a different take, but if we are done in darkness and wish to see light… it can only be the hero who puts ‘super’ in superhero. Please, I beg for Superman. Until then, Still Golden.

Anonymous

Nat, you definitely qualify for "first time watching". Even if it is the second, a watch really isn't a watch until you connect the storyline together..... And movie recommendation for some excellent Michael Caine, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Justin Credible

"First Time *ACTUALLY* Watching"

Ben Gilshenan

you should title it "First? ...Time Watching?"

Anonymous

After watching your reaction, I definitely agree that you can call this a "first time watching" video. You gave me so much joy — allowing me to recapture my own feelings at seeing it for the first time. There's just something about that communal watching experience. :)

Aaron

**Regarding the Batman Voice** My old roommate was a Batman fanatic like you've never met before. Batman shirts, movies, comics, video games, silverware, glasses, blankets, curtains, clocks... Even a Batman tattoo. I asked him about the Batman voice. He said that it's not explained at all in the movie, but several times in the comics. Batman is every bit as insane as the Joker. Brought about by the trauma of witnessing his parents murder. His insanity just manifests in a heroic way. When he puts on the mask, he literally changes in his own mind. The deep, raspy, monster Batman voice is Bruce Wayne doing his best to continue speaking normally. It's a psychological struggle to maintain his humanity as Batman. That voice is all he can physically manage. That's why he keeps speaking like that even if the person he's speaking to knows who he is.

Anonymous

Oh, and yes, fish definitely died. But the nature of a *fusion* explosion (as opposed to a conventional nuclear *fission* bomb) is that as least there wouldn't be radioactive fallout. I know, small consolation, but maybe some. In any case, thank you so much for doing this.

This is my first time watching this movie, and I have a question: What's that rope connected to, and why don't they all just climb up THAT?

My_Cousin_Mose

At about the 51 minute mark you said you liked that guys voice. It's the same guy who plays Carl Tanner in GOT, his character was recently relevant.

Thomas Malley

I completely agree regarding Bale's performance. I was never into it, but the movies are good. It's almost a trope that Batman being the least interesting thing about the Batman movies.

Andrew T

I just barely started watching, when I had to pause and type this. From Natalie's "...for Batman" (in character voice) to, the "annoying" snack wrapper crinkling, followed by a scream, and then the ASMR-style "I'm sorry," I was rolling on the floor before the logo shots were even done. This is why I'm here. Movies and TV shows are so much more fun to watch w/ Natalie commentary. Seriously is all about the little things.

Marty McGee

I just thought it was more of an homage rather than trying to say Blake was Robin or would become Robin.

Anonymous

I think, based on your comments, this qualifies as first time watching, again. You clearly didn't recall any of the key plot points...

Chris Gronau

I think it's perfectly fair to call it a "first time watching" reaction. You may have been inside a theater where it was playing, but your reactions this time show you weren't really watching previously.....😁

Marty McGee

Literally no one: Nat: But what about the fish? Maybe it would've been better to blow up Gotham! LOL I appreciate this movie more and more each time I watch it. There are a few glaring continuity errors that took me out of the immersion the first time though. You hit on one with Bane asking for Miranda and then we see her in the next scene with Bruce and Fox. Also the timer stayed on 11:35 for what seemed like at least 5 minutes run time, then went to 10:??, then 5:?? in the next 2 minutes. The other one that bothered me was when Bane and his gang busted out of the stock exchange on bikes there was daylight, then all of a sudden it's dark. These things really bothered me the first time watching. Storywise though I thought it was pretty clever how they meshed the previous 2 movies together. I loved the Bane-Miranda/Talia twist and did not see it coming although there were clues in retrospect. So many trilogies/series have unsatisfying endings. This one was pretty great. Loved how they tied it up! I do think that Blake having Robin in his legal name was more of an homage rather than straight up naming him as a Robin character. Not to bring anyone down, but I noticed something this time which in light of events last year was actually pretty hard to watch. The scene where Bane kills the special forces guy who came in to work with the cops. It was pretty disturbing. Great reaction Nat! Looking forward to GOT S5 next week!

Fuzzy Dunlop

I just want to know if Nat knows Tom Hardy is Bane.

Jon Hoover

If you watch it closely it's connected to the wall under where the jump is. So it wouldn't help them get to the top.

Jon Hoover

I think she recognized him from Rogue One and Captain Marvel, both she's watched on her channel.

Thomas Yanez

Yeah, a lot of stuff has to go very right for a nuke to detonate. Knocking it around isn't one of those things, and in fact, would be more likely to knock the precision equipment out of alignment and prevent it from detonating.

Anonymous

This is an incredibly well rounded trilogy and the payoff at the end hits you like a ton of bricks

Al Baughman

This is 1 of my top 3 favorite movies, I loved your reaction at the very end when Alfred saw Bruce with Selina!

Thomas Malley

I was laughing so hard too. I loved it, whereas I usually hate exactly that :) it was brilliant :)

Thomas Malley

It didn't seem to register when his face was shown for that brief second.

Thomas Malley

at the very last few lines after he was stabbed with a knife, he spoke sort of like a mix between his. batman voice and bruce voice.

Thomas Yanez

I thought I'd read somewhere that the idea behind the voice was that when he had the mask on, he was Batman, and that was Batman's voice - didn't matter who he was talking to. Take the mask off, and he's Bruce Wayne again.

Anonymous

I think you're remembering seeing just the trailer of the movie, Natalie. In a lot of the early trailers, they showed primarily the pit and Bane. Maybe the guy you went with took you to see a different movie and one of the trailers for The Dark Knight Rises ran in front of it.

Robert Reichle

Love all the references to A Tale of Two Cities.

David Brown

Natalie, now it's time to start the DCEU with Man of Steel. Please!

roundone9

I laughed so much during the back and forth between "ah yes, this scene" and "have I seen this movie??" XD

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

YES!!! This is why I'm here, I haven't seen this since it was in theaters and I think my ex fell asleep which kinda ruined it because I also didn't remember a lot of it; but watching it here, just reminds me why I love watching great movies in the company of like minded strangers 💛🦇🖤

Greg McDaniel

You might be "Batman-ed out" after these movies, but you should definitely check out the two Tim Burton Batman films, the 1989 "Batman" and "Batman Returns". While Christian Bale plays Batman, Michael Keaton IS Batman.

warcrimes

FYI Wayne's suit has a built in voice modulator. That's why it never changes.

Ian

Sure you didn't just watch the trailer only Nat 😂 first time viewing seems right in this case 😉 really enjoyable reaction AH was so great in this movie love her portrayal of cat woman, don't forget to pick up the snacks that hit the deck or koda will do it for you 🙂 and enjoy your weekend 💛

Jeff Mills

It's one of those movies that will disappear for a long time and you wind up buying it. Then, all of a sudden it's on TV all the freaking time! LOL

Jeff Mills

There were moments where I thought Bane sounded a bit like a bad Sean Connery impersonation. I almost expected him to say "Now hear thish! I didn't shee the light until I was already a man."

Jeff Mills

For years I have been saying Cillian Murphy should be cast as Mick Jagger in a Rolling Stones biopic. He's a terrific actor. Another great one he's in is "Red Eye" (2005).

Jeff Mills

In the first movie he had the raspy, whispering voice. In the second film he had more of a growl. In this film, the raspy, whispering voice returns.

Jeff Mills

The irony is that at the time "Batman" came out in 1989, most "Batman" fans practically had a coronary because Michael Keaton was cast as Batman. "This guy? Mr. Mom?" Now, most "Batman" fans consider him the best to have played the part. Fun fact: Bob Kane, the creator of "Batman", thought that Val Kilmer was the best at playing Batman/Bruce Wayne. Not my opinion, but it is what it is.

Jeff Mills

I would also say to check out "Batman Forever" even if it is a step down from the previous two Tim Burton films. As for "Batman and Robin", the less said about it, the better. I'd rather have a root canal without Novocain than watch that monstrosity again.

Andy Crawley

I'm real glad you enjoyed this film, and the whole trilogy, so much. This one especially at the time seemed to get a whole lot of stick for various reasons, whether it being people somehow not being able to hear Bane's dialogue (could hear him clearly the whole time in the cinema), or people actively thinking Alfred was dreaming/hallucinating at the end when he sees Bruce and Selina (some people hate happy endings). I really enjoyed this, and as an ending to a trilogy it was perfect. The hard part for me was, at the time this came out in cinemas, my dad had passed away just a year before, and Gary Oldman in these films with the moustache looks so much like him it's unreal, so the scene where Bruce tells him who he is using the "coat around the shoulders story" absolutely broke me, and now your reaction to it just broke me again haha! Honestly your emotional responses get me every time! As always, loved your reaction to this. For future videos, may I suggest revisiting the Lethal Weapon world, the second and third films are both excellent, and just really fun to watch. The fourth one is ok but not great, mainly a vehicle for Chris Rocks comedy. Also Richard Linklater's Before trilogy (Sunrise, Sunset, Midnight) is a good shout, very dialogue heavy, but beautiful. And maybe visiting Tarantino's films too?

Keith Jones

I had not seen "Free Solo", but on the mention here, I went and looked up the trailer. My afternoon is now booked.

Jai Nelson

Free Solo fucking rocks! That dude is amazing. Clearly has a death wish, but amazing.

Anonymous

What's amazing is that they never planned sequels or a trilogy, there's a really awesome special feature that they give retrospective of everything.

Anthony Campbell

Please add Edgar Wright movies Scott Pilgrim vs The World and Baby Driver to your watch list if you haven't seen them. I would love to watch your reaction to them.

Xenic Mark

Man, I love all your reaction videos but every once in a while something truly special comes up. This was definitely one of those. I watched these when I was much younger and watching it now definitely brings a new perspective.

A Vicarious View

I'm pretty sure he has a voice modifier in his mask that keeps his voice deep when he has it on. It would be a lot easier on his vocal cords than constantly trying to talk like that and risk giving away his real voice. He is a celebrity after all and voice can be very identifiable when you're in the public eye.

Nicholas Sulikowski

Some fun trivia: The actor playing John Daggett is indeed Ben Mendelsohn, who plays Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One. One of Bane's biggest thugs, the one that attacks Levitt's character (bald black guy "Who are you?") is played by Christopher Judge, better known as Teal'c on Stargate SG-1. He was cast originally to be Bane's number one thug, with a number of scenes shot with him. Unfortunately, the actor playing Bane, Tom Hardy, isn't all that tall, and Christopher Judge is a pretty big dude. Those scenes ended up being removed because they didn't want this no-name thug looking bigger and tougher than Bane. (In fact, Tom Hardy is shorter than Christian Bane, so they had to use lower camera angles and I think even a platform to constantly make Bane look more imposing.) Meanwhile, those of us Stargate fans like myself absolutely love that Hollywood struggled with trying to make our boy Teal'c look less tough. lol This version of "Robin" is definitely a new invention unique to The Dark Knight Trilogy Universe. In the comics, there are many Robins, the most well known of which is Dick Grayson, a kid from the circus whose trapeze-performing parents were killed during a performance that was sabotaged by a gangster Tony Zucco, upset that Haley's Circus wasn't paying the "protection money". Young Dick Grayson was adopted by Bruce Wayne, and eventually inducted into the life of mask vigilantism. Because Bruce wanted Dick to feel some sense of justice, and not become the broken soul that he is. And sure enough, Dick as Robin (later Nightwing when he stops being a sidekick and becomes a solo hero) was a light-hearted hero with friends and SOs, and found time to live a normal life. (Though the other Robins have very different stories.)

Nicholas Sulikowski

Christopher Judge is also the voice of Kratos in the 2018 video game God of War. ("BOOOOYYYYY!!!!!!!!")

I was disappointed in the last video when you had said you had seen this one as I thought it would ruin the big moments. I'm really glad you blocked them from your memory so we could get a first time reaction.

A Vicarious View

...also, if you want to be emotionally devastated watch Stephen King's - The Green Mile.

Anonymous

Quick fun: Look up Tom Hardy (Bane) in the movie Star Trek Nemesis (Bad Movie).

Jason

Not at all an unpopular opinion. I think Bale was the worst thing about these movies by a long shot, lol. The movies are great, but are definitely carried by the villains and supporting roles.

Anonymous

im really curious how she would react to the snyder trilogy. With batfleck being a completely different type of bat. and when i say the snyder trilogy i mean the 3 hour batman v superman and the snyder cut. Not the theatrical garbage.

Kevin Townsend

A few suggestions: Sling Blade A Simple Plan Napoleon Dynamite O Brother Where Art Thou?

Cripkie

Anne Hathaway is also a brilliant dramatic actor imo. Not sure why she never got many drama rolls tho, maybe too pretty? Her portrayal of Fontene in les mis is heartbreaking tho.

Cripkie

The final scene in the alfresco cafe is the most emotionally satisfying callback I've ever seen in any film.

Cripkie

yeah saw free solo. Ive been scared of heights since puberty. Anyone who isnt afraid of gravity is an idiot or has brain damage.

Jai Nelson

Great trilogy! Caesar is one of the coolest protagonists ever.

Niklas

Please, Natalie, watch the Star Wars sequels. :)

RebRox65

Great Reaction, it's always a fun ride watching along with with Nat, it puts a smile on my face that's for sure. Anyway it you wanted to continue you Batman history, their are two TV shows that although not connected the movies they do compliment them. My first recommend show is PENNYWORTH and this tells the story of Alfred early days in London and how he ended up working for the Waynes. It's dark and got some peaky blinders vibes go on. My second is GOTHAM and this focus on Jim Gorden career and a young Bruce Wayne and how he slowly transition into Becoming Batman but mainly focus on Gothams criminal Underworld, I really like this show and it only 5 seasons and has a really worthwhile conclusion.

Sinewmire

Thanks for putting this up! The last twenty minutes or so always get me teary. The chant is arabic, "deshi basaran" which translates as "he rises". I think this is probably my favourite of the trilogy, as it's a lot more politically charged. Bane is clearly meant to represent Napoleon here, bringing in his own French Revolution and the Terror to Gotham, hence the frock coat, the knitting at the trial and the references to A Tale of Two Cities, but at the same time there's something very satisfying about a film that at least acknowledges the divides between the hyper rich - Daggett and the Wayne board, and the downtrodden poor of Gotham, like Selena. Bane's revolution was meant to shock the world back into the right path as would Gotham's destruction by Ra's Al Ghul by symbolically showing Gotham as the heart of corruption and inequality was an example of how things could not go on as they are. The film takes the staggering conclusion that maybe killing the rich isn't the answer, but maybe the rich could be doing more to help the poor and save the world from climate change, which seems fair enough.

This may have been one of the best reactions I've seen you do, full-length or youtube. After almost a decade of the entire internet dismantling this movie (and I myself can never pinpoint my exact opinion of it), it's so refreshing to someone get into it and enjoy it, and highlight the really good parts. And then show the biggest concern for the fish. I was also quickly excited when it dawned on me that you had no idea who Talia al-Ghul was. Being familiar with the character beforehand made the reveal of "Ra's' daughter" fall flat, overriding it with "wtf it's Talia, why, never been mentioned, this is weird" and things like that. I've said it before, you kinda get to watch these things "correctly", and it's a huge part of why I watch a reaction person on the internet. It's such a different way of seeing films and shows. Even if you don't even know if this was a first time or not :D (I agree that you probably saw the trailer one too many times).

Anonymous

More quick fun: Look up Chris Hemsworth (James T. Kirk's father) in the movie Star Trek - 2009 (Before Thor).

Dani

Am really excited for you to dive back into the MCU. Phase four is amazing so far!

R.BGames37

I know a good sci-fi movie.. ''Interstellar''.. And for the NATMARE TAG and ANIMATED MOVIES TAG got a few.. for the ''NATMARE TAG'' The Conjuring, The Nun, The Curse of La Larona, The Grudge, The Ring.. for the ''ANIMATED MOVIES TAG'' Moana, Your Name, A Silent Voice, Frozen 1 & 2, Grave of the Fireflies (a 1988 Studio Ghipli Classic.. only watch this if you really ready for it Nat.. its very very sad) Greetings Raymond.

Anonymous

Grave of the Fireflies is extremely sad. I wouldn't recommed it to a sensitive person like her. It's also Ghibli so she probably won't do it anyway. Your name is beautiful, Frozen and Moana are ok.

R.BGames37

Thats why i said.. "only when you ready for it".. does not say that for nothing Danny.. But it is a 1988 Classic movie. From Studio Ghipli. (With this movie they been put on the map).

I know you’re not super into scary/zombie movies and neither am I, BUT you should do a reaction to “28 Days Later” if you haven’t seen it. Cillian Murphy (Scarecrow) plays the lead and he’s so good in it. It takes place in London so he gets to use his natural accent. 😊

William Weber

Fun fact, my cousin was actually in this movie, he played a cop in the final battle

Adrian

I have so many problems with this movie, but I enjoyed your reaction nonetheless.

Jeff Clark

I think he wasn't mentioned because of what happened to Heath Ledger. Imagine what a difference the movie would have been if he hadn't died and we had Joker being freed by Bane...

—thoughtstorms—Keith—

I'm not sure if anyone is said this so far but, the very capable actor playing the mayor in this trilogy -- also played a bat-themed superhero in the live action series of The Tick. His hero name? BatManuel! I loved this recurring Easter egg 🥚. The Tick in all of its various incarnations is highly recommended. Ben Ecklund wrote the comic and produced the animation, then the live action, and the second live action series. The first live action series featured his right honourable BatManuel. The More You Know.....

I loved this movie and your reaction especially to Alfred's acting. I was little when I first watched this so when I watched it again, the story and Alfred's arc was more appreciated. I believe Bane was supposed to be the parallel of Batman. Both of them are strong, combative, initiated, intelligent, and are great strategists while the previous villain, Joker, was the complete opposite (less strength and more brains). Also, I think Nolan couldn't make up his mind who'd actually win between the two so he couldn't add a third fight scene between them (post Talia al Ghul twist lmao). But could I suggest moving on to the other major character in the DCU: Superman. More specifically Man of Steel. This is probably hands down one of the most action packed and modernized version of Superman out there. Snyder's vision of the Clark Kent (played by Henry Cavill, aka the Witcher) is a little more realistic to me and different from Christopher Reeves' and Brandon Routh's portrayal. Just recently, there has been a slightly critical take of Superman by the majority. "He's overrated... too powerful... over powered"! While I do agree he is extremely strong compared to maybe (actually literally) any other superhero, I have to also add that his character shouldn't be generalized as just the strongest superhero. His growing and developing morals is what makes him Superman. As long as no one messes with his gal that is lol. There was a comic about Dr. Manhattan about to just end all of life in the entire universe, but he is stopped in a conversation with Superman when both of them exchange their philosophies. And I think that comic alone can say a lot about what Kal-El (Superman's Kryptonian name) is all about.

john collins

maybe go with: first time watching? Lol maybe you just happened to see bits and pieces and it was a different movie you saw in the theater

Kevin Anand

Stannis gave Mance a genuinely great deal. (fun fact: Mance didn't die in the books)

Vidcutter

Bruce didn't wear a mask to the party because his natural face IS his mask.

Heruwath

Dear Natalie, Nukes do not go off through external explosions, that is why they have to be ignited by an internal one. There has to be an explosion triggering the chain reaction. Any nuclear weapon is triggered by an internal explosion to initiate the chain reaction. Nukes have also to be triggered several houndreds meter above ground to have the most impact, because a nuke at the ground will lose the impact of the blast. Physics. An addition: This trilogy is a good exaple for a structure of trilogy. Introduction, Deepening, Conclusion. You get your first Batman Begins with all the set up. Then you get the deepening of the world and the lore with the second one and then you have the conclusion with the last one. The funny part is, that the second movie in a trilogy is mostly perceived as the best one in so many trilogies. Take Back to the Future, or Mass Effect as an example. It seems people like to dive deeper into the world, crafted around the story. The Dark Knight blows this statistic up even further through Heath Ledger's exelent performance. Besides this fact, it makes sense for people to like the second part of a trilogy, because it provides more of the stuff they signed up for during or after the first part. There are plotholes in the third and there are many in the second one, but people dive into the suspension of disbelief , where you are willing to look beyond those holes, because you love the experience you get. This is partialy the reason to why the third part of a trilogy alsmost never meets expectations. It is like it is destined to "fail", because of the second one. Again, take Back to the Future as an example, where the third was really good, but is alway critized the most of all.

Anonymous

Great trilogy, I'm so glad Natalie enjoyed it. And if those reactions are genuine, I think this can be called a first viewing haha. Now I'm wondering if an atomic blast would kill a ton of fish or not. It would at least create a big tidal wave. Lessons learned from The Dark Knight trilogy: -Gary Oldman and Michael Caine are brilliant in every scene -Alex Honnold can free climb out of a prison -Natalie should move to the open countryside

Lucifer Moon

the funny thing is, Nolan never wanted to make this film as it is. He had intended his Batman saga to have 5 films and Bane would not show up until the 5th film and the it would have been different because it would have taken into account the events of the third ( which was going to be called the 'The Caped Crusader' ) and the fourth film but after Heath died none of the actors wanted to continue and neither did Nolan however they were all on contract for at least a third film and so Nolan rewrote the Bane script to work without films 3 and 4 and then made this film. He was also forced to add a lot of things to this script that he never wanted to but were demanded by the studio in exchange for not requiring him to do more films.

Lucifer Moon

"OMG THINK OF ALL THE FISH THAT ARE GONNA DIE!" thank you that line is the best reaction to anything that I have ever heard LOL.

Lucifer Moon

Oh also one thing I forgot. The reason why it was Mask Party was in reference to the Mask Party scene in Micheal Keaton's Batman Returns where Batman danced with Catwoman.

Anonymous

Please Consider The Karate Kid series along as Cobra Kai it’s soooo good I swear it’s worth the watch

William Weber

I don’t know if you take requests here, but I was wondering if you would watch DCEU films starting with Man of Steel up til Snyder Cut of Justice League?

JarHead0351

Safe to say that you are now a Batman fan - Batman had so many story lines they could pick from and I think they pick the right ones for new people. I like how some times you trying to figure something out and get it wrong and then when get it right, I have lower the sound because you scream so loud - lol I like your reactions to movies I have seen before, it like watching for the 1st time all over again

MichaelB

A random comment, but the nuke would really be (pun intended I suppose) a drop in the ocean and have little to no impact. The ocean is just so vast the radiation is basically nothing compared to it.

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

I only watched this once in theaters and didn't remember much of it. I enjoyed it more this time. I do think it's funny how this movie and Avengers both have an extremely similar ending where the hero Ironman/Batman (or so we assume) both carry nukes out away from the city right before it explodes

Jeff Mills

I enjoyed watching your reactions to the Chris Nolan "Batman/Dark Knight" trilogy. Hopefully, you'll get to react to the earlier "Batman" movies (the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher ones). I know you weren't really high on Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne, but I think he did the best job and was given more to work with than the previous actors.

Nerve Reacts

This is my second time watching this now and the ending still doesnt fail to make me cry like a baby, great reaction!

Harry Reece

Finally got to finish watching your reaction. I laughed, I cried, got excited. Great reaction, thank you.

ChickensAreRacist

If there’s a way to open up the crinkly wrappers further from the mic that would be great. Otherwise, enjoying your reactions!
