You are no longer, a sweet summer child.

So excited for this one I could burst 🙂 💛

I'm not ready for this..

Darryl Low

Nattie G, I daren't watch, yet I cannot look away 💛 This really was the wrong week for this episode for you. Feeling for you right now. It's a tough watch, and like everyone else , this episode completely blindsided you. Devastating 💔

I had never planned to rewatch Game of Thrones but watching along with these has kind of reinvigorated everything I loved about it and your reactions are just gold. I've been waiting for this one all season!

Ben Gilshenan

we all new it was coming to this

Randee Carreno

Happy Wednesday, Natalie! 😊 I'm downloading this right now so I can watch it later this evening. I still need to finish yesterday's reaction video as well. I'll be sure to have tissues on hand. Looking forward to watching this reaction this evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Nerd Going Outside

I remember the first time I read this scene, as a senior in high school 19 years ago. My mom came into my room to ask what happened - she heard the crash when I threw the (heavy) book across the room. After trying to go to sleep, unsuccessfully, I got up, retrieved the book, and spent the rest of the night reading. Totally shocking, but totally engrossing at the same time. I remember wondering "What could the series be about now, now that all the heroes are dead?" For all my complaints about the adaptation, they really handled this scene quite well.

Xanbry

Ah the episode that we basically call "hello darkness my old friend"

William Connery

We’ve all been waiting for this knowing the horror you were going to witness, if there’s one constant in the show is don’t get too attached to any character because you never know when their time is up

JediLounger

So now that you got to this point in the story, some fun information. For one, Rob was never a major character in the books. As a major character you get your own POV chapters with your name on them. Rob was always in his family’s chapters, mostly his mother’s. So when it became obvious that Rob was elevated to a primary story driver in the TV series after the death of Eddard, most of us who read the books were like….uh ho lol. Going to be rough in a few years. And man was it ever. This episode crashed water coolers everywhere.

Kai

You're no longer a sweet summer child.

Chrishart59

Book readers knew it was coming and taped their watching partners reactions for YouTube. The whole reactor culture got a big start with that act

navghtivs

So can we stop killing off Starks now?

Al Baughman

Yes! I can't wait to get out of work tonight!

mike

some heartbreaking excerpts from this chapter in the book... "Ser Ryman and Black Walder were circling round her back, but Catelyn did not care. They could do as they wished with her; imprison her, rape her, kill her, it made no matter. She had lived too long, and Ned was waiting. It was Robb she feared for." .... and the last line in the chapter .... "a hand grabbed her scalp just as she’d done with Jinglebell, and she thought, No, don’t, don’t cut my hair, Ned loves my hair. Then the steel was at her throat, and its bite was red and cold." At this time Sansa is a hostage and Cat thinks all the rest of her children are dead. So when she sees Robb die, she goes numb and hallucinates. The only thing that gives her comfort is the prospect of reuniting with Ned. *sigh*.....

Just finished watching... "If you think this story has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention."

I have been dreading rewatching this episode. And dreading seeing you watch it even more. This was rough. And sincerely, thank you for sharing this with all of us. I can’t imagine doing this for the whole world to see.

Lisa Tosti

I remember in 2012 my husband was reading the book and got to this chapter read it, went back and re-read it because he thought he misunderstood what had happened, then tried to continue reading and said he couldn't. He didn't pick up the book again for about a week after that.

Ben Gilshenan

this episode was pretty intense hope all is good in your life just remember this is just a show and the show and the books are made in a way where you never know who is safe. <3

Anonymous

Knowing that you've had some things going on in your personal life parallel to this, makes one even more vulnerable, as feelings get even more tied up with the personal life than usual. You are strong Nat, I do admire you. Hugs

Trepanation21

Oh it's been so long since I've read the books, seeing those excerpts again brought back that nuanced heartache :(

Anonymous

Ok… I kinda feel bad lol. We did it, but at what cost? 😅

Trepanation21

One of my friends referred to this episode of the show as "The Red Headphones" because of all the reaction videos with people peaking the mics out with the yelling/screaming/crying lmaoooo xD

Ian

That was brutal and hard to watch seeing you so upset was no fun at all Nat we have all been looking forward to this episode but with things as they are in your life right now im sorry you had to sit through this sending hugs your way 🤗💛 I can relate! friend passing and my cat dubbadoo passing few weeks bk it's been a sad time so thankyou for being strong and putting out contend even though I'm sure it's been hard for you bless you nat 💛

Calo Grsf

Hi Nat, I hope you were able to get over it, your reaction completely broke my heart for you... And to think just before you were laughing, very rough indeed 😔 I hope Tyler and Koda cheered you up after that and you'll have the strength to continue and enjoy all the future good moments 😌 I send you lots of chocolate hugs from Belgium! I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Martin Firth

Even though we've lost some of our favourite characters, the show gets even better from here

Dave A

That was painful to watch knowing stuff is going on in your real life. Sorry if this brought any of that up, especially right after Infinity War. Good things are coming, hang in there!

Danishprince

I'm not okay.. This was so much harder to watch than I expected it to be and seeing you in so much pain really hurt me

Jill Finlayson

I have been simultaneously anticipating and dreading this for you! I read the books a long time ago but stopped partway through the 3rd then a few years later watched the show. I had unknowingly stopped right before the Red Wedding and when I saw it in the show I was taken completely by surprise and I had planned on watching several more episodes that day and couldn't. It was a solid week before I could come back, is just brutal. But totally worth coming back for, season 4 is my favorite overall. Still though, my heart goes out to you Nat! ❤️

Anonymous

Offering you psychic hugs, Nat. I'm sorry fictional turmoil of this level is lining up with real personal challenges in such a profound way. It's really vulnerable of you to share this reaction with us, but I hope you're ok with some distance from the episode and I'm wishing you the best regarding all else.

Anonymous

This episode hit me hard when it aired. Honestly, I was OK until they went for the direwolf, that was what actually hurt the most (Robb had it coming, but the poor direwolf... come on) But it hit me even harder knowing what you're going through. Hope everything is OK Nat. Much love.

DougRaw

That "NOOOOOO" was so visceral it shook me. And then the immediate heart clutch. Sorry you watched this at a bad time in your life Nat, it is truly a shattering moment. And it actually sparked the explosion of reaction videos that eventually lead to what we see nowadays

Frank Rosales

Back when this episode first aired it was such a hard one to process going into the last episode of the season.

Anonymous

Welcome to GOT, I'm sorry Natalie.

Anonymous

Personally I think that's the hardest saddest episode that specifically has to do with death, for me at least. No one is safe from harm.

Vonlinchen

Hard to watch & utterly tragic, but a brilliant episode. The music, Bolton's armour reveal & his twisted passing on of Jamie's words.. brilliant.

Anonymous

I was working away from home at the time, didnt know anyone else who was watching the series - watched this on my own at about 2am in the morning and just stood on the hotel balcony looking out over the city while smoking a box of cigarettes... thinking... so... wtf just happened to this cool tv show I'm watching - is that it? Where did it go? Is there even a next episode? I have no one to talk to about this! Arrrgggh!

Anonymous

Sorry for what you are going through and it happened to coincide with one of the saddest in GOT. Take some extra time if you need it, don't worry about us.

Chris Eggert

I read the book this scene occurs in about 20 years ago. I successfully avoided spoiling it for my friends when we were all watching, and I'm glad that it wasn't entirely spoiled for you when it was going to occur. That being said, I know it's a hard time for you personally right now so I wanted to suggest maybe holding off on this one until you had a chance to take a breather, but didn't think I could safely do so without spoiling things. So, I feel for ya - welcome to another level of hell with the GoT fandom :)

Chris Eggert

Oh and for Jorah - I think that pause was his heart breaking a little bit. He goes and does this daring deed and wins a city for Dany but her first response isn't praise or delight at his deeds but rather concern for where Daario is. Just kind of encapsulates where they are as characters and what their relationship is.

Peter Hudson

In the books, but not in the show so it's not any kind of spoiler, I think Cat somehow gets ressurected as "Lady Stoneheart" and becomes wrathful vengeance personified. Was always hoping to see that in the show but they don't go that route

Peter Hudson

There is one thing that happens later that disturbed me so much I almost stopped watching, but this has to be the biggest heartbreak of the series

Aaron

I haven't been able to rewatch this episode since it aired. Whenever I'd rewatch the show, I'd skip this one. Not looking forward to this...

Anonymous

You don't mess around with Walder Frey.

Jomero

I think many of your fans have been waiting for this particular episode and your reaction to it. It's unfortunate that it had to happen while your personal life had already put you in an emotionally vulnerable state. But, if it at all helps.... your reaction is visceral, heartbreaking, and genuine. It will likely rank among the top reactions to this particular scene. As others stated, if you need to take a break (whether that be a full-on break, or just watching more lighthearted fare for the next while) we will all understand and we will all be here for you.

Anonymous

Welcome to the world of GoT Natty , one major episode down of how many? You ll find out.🤨😮😋 - Summer Child to Teen Promotion suceeded.

Anonymous

The Red Wedding is based off a real historical event called The Black Dinner. Check it out.

Kevin Anand

I don't necessarily think it was because Robb married her. The Lannisters paid the Freys off and Walder would look for any reason possible to kill off the Starks.

Tranquil_Gnome

Nat. I'm so sorry. Of all weeks for you to watch this episode. Jorah had that funny look because he loves Danny with all his heart. When she asked if Daario was okay, he understood that she has growing feeling for Daario. Feelings that he hoped she would some day have for him but understands now that she does not and probably will never have for him.

Anonymous

This whole time I was so looking forward to this one particular reaction, every week, every episode you saying how you wanted to see the red wedding and were looking forward to it and all the while I was over here saying to myself "Be careful what you wish for".......aand...yeah, that was not fun to watch all over again. I think it was the hardest episode to watch in the entire show though...no, there is one worse (for me anyway). So at least (for the most part) it can only go up from here.

This right here is why we love you. even though it was hitting you so hard and your instinct was to look away and there was a moment there when you looked like you wanted to stop you powered through for us. I want to say from a viewer standpoint this was an amazing reaction but goddamn that was tough to see you in so much pain. i really hope you're doing OK :)

Anonymous

Natalie, as horrible as this was to watch - The fact that they would kill off people, that in any other series, would they would never kill off, is the reason that this show is the best television ever created. It means that unlike every other show, you really have NO idea what is going to happen to whom, or when. Everyone is vulnerable - which makes the show difficult to to watch, but incredible at the same time. It is horrible, but you've gone through one of the toughest episodes of the series.

Anonymous

Natalie before this episode: "Doing YouTube reactions is such a fun gig!" Natalie after the episode: "Fuck this fucking show and every single person who kept teasing me with tHe rEd wEdDiNg" I read the Red Wedding before the show got to it. It still wrecked me for days, even knowing most of what was coming. At least there's Endgame to look forward to?

Anonymous

Exactly. Walder is both a social climber and a coward. Selling out his King to the Lannisters would be appealing to him even if Robb had married his daughter.

Ben Wheeler

I was hard not saying be careful what you wish for out loud haha

Anonymous

Your reaction to this episode was everything i ever hoped for! <3

This was one of the first times watching a TV Show I literally got up went outside for a walk. I was not expecting anything that happened in it. Season 4 was about to come out when I started watching all of them with a friend from the beginning. We got to this part and I lost it. I had never seen them kill off so many people like key people in a show before. It broke me!

Ilsuk Yang

It happens differently in the books. Robb's wife isn't at this wedding in the books, so his child and wife are still alive at this point in the books. I'm actually glad that the Hound took Arya away when he did. I see it as a mercy. He is a hard man, but not as hard as he would like people to believe. As I predicted, you've seen the pattern with this show. Perhaps you'll see another pattern form...

roundone9

I felt so bad hearing you talk about anticipating the Red Wedding, because I knew how much you'd hate it! Drink some water and hug a loved one, take care Natalie!

Robert Rivers

One thing I’ve learned about this show is, never fucking get married. 💯

MertzRocks

83 comments already? I'm late (had dentist today lol). Three episodes hence, I will comment again and ASAP.

Spot on with your comments about the wolfs and their owners in regards to symbolism.

Anonymous

They didn't talk too much about it in the show, but they did mention in Season 1 that Cat's father called Walder Frey "the Late Walder Frey", after once showing up to a battle after it was over. It's all choosing the winning side for him, or at least the side that could offer him the most for the least effort. In season 1 he was promised all sorts of honors just for letting Rob's army cross the bridge. All he had to do was open a door and none of his men or property were endangered. This time around, sure he was a spiteful old git, but also for a man who likes to side with the winning side it dosen't make sense to send out a bunch of his soldiers to fight for a guy who is losing his grip, beheading his close officers, and desperately needs all the help he can get to continue his campaign, when you can basically end this part of the war by doing this instead. I don't know if this was inspired by some real world event, but in Sweden we have a historic event called "Stockholm's Bloodbath", that took place in the early 1500's. The crash-course version of that is that the Danish king Kristian II (called Kristian the Tyrant in Sweden), after years of war and Danish occupation, named himself king over Sweden as well, and invited all major Swedish noblemen to Stockholm, where they would feast in his honor, and they would then be pardoned for opposing him, but when he had them all gathered he locked them in the cathedral and over the course of several days had almost 100 noblemen executed.

MertzRocks

Just to avoid confusion (and it's really not a spoiler per se). In season 4 a different actor takes over as Daario Naharis.

Ben Wheeler

If I didn’t care about spoilers and read ahead the first time I watched the show, I probably would’ve ugly cried too.

Anonymous

I knew this episode was going to hit you really hard. I hope you're doing okay!

Anonymous

:( what a bad time to watch this episode. I also watched this episode around a family death and just makes it way worse. Sorry :(

MertzRocks

I have always said that this is the hardest episode to watch (that scene in particular) and I caj clearly see that you are NOT ok... Just take a small bit of comfort that Arya was NOT there. I love you Natalie. We feel for you and we feel WITH you, Nat. Stay Golden and have hope!

Owen James McBrearty

It's painful, but the Hound was right to knock Arya out. If she was in the room, she'd be dead too.

Owen James McBrearty

If it's any consolation, I think this is by far the worst.

Anonymous

The episode that essentially kickstarted the reaction video craze. The circle is complete.

Anonymous

I am so happy things aren't getting spoiled for Natalie. As painful as it was to experience, that reaction was so pure. Looking forward to more. :)

SmokeAndACoffee

"I am not okay right now!" - Words we all ugly cried after watching The Red Wedding

Steven Hok

This is the reaction I've been waiting for! Sorry Natalie lol hope you don't stay sad for too long.

SmokeAndACoffee

Nat, you sound so defeated when you said "See you guys in the next episode" lol. Gah, my heart goes out to ya while you watch this for the first time. We were all right there with ya, sister <3 I remember when I saw it first. I had only really just started to get into GoT; I had heard about some show that was cool, but all your favorite people died, and the memes of Ned were going strong; I finally gave it a shot and started watching it about the time the first few episodes of Season 3 had aired. I ended up staying the weekend at a friend's place to have a gaming weekend, not even thinking of GoT. He ended up already having some friends planning to come over to watch GoT, and I cooked; turned into a sorta gathering serendipitous. So it ended up being me, my friend, his wife, another buddy of his from his current duty station and his wife. Turns out, his buddy had read the books, and knew the Red Wedding was coming up while none of the rest of us had any idea what-so-ever. WE. ALL. LOST. IT..... .... and of course, the one guy who had read the books was having the TIME of his life! LOL. If you haven't yet, there are some great vids on youtube of people's initial reactions to the Red Wedding; friends who'd read the books sneakily recording the reactions knowing they were going to lose their shit. xD

Muttley

I think you could do with a hug after this one. Harrowing isn't the word, and you can be sure I ugly cried even though I'd already read all the books and knew it was coming. *hugs*

Brian Moore

This is the episode that feels like a terrible hazing tradition. Sorry you had to watch it this week! But hey, you're one of us now :) Hugs to you from across the internet! Stay strong!

Joe Blankenship

All the times you said “I’m gonna cry” leading up to it. And we’re sitting here like “yeah... you’re gonna cry.” I can’t remember if I knew it was coming the first time I saw it or not. But it was pretty insane. And the people who read the books knew it was coming, so they recorded people’s reactions who had only watched the show. Then it became a big internet thing.

Ortizmo2000

Wait til the "Purple Wedding". You will......enjoy that.

DougRaw

Bruh, she didn't like that she had expectations for a wedding because she had heard mention of a red wedding, and then you decide stuff like this is a good idea ^ ?

Marty McGee

I echo everyone else's sentiments that we hope you'll be okay after this one. This one is so hard. Cat's reaction to Robb's final wound absolutely wrecked me. One long scream of pain as she slices the girl's throat then the life is completely gone out of her. Amazing acting. One of the hardest ever scenes to watch in any series or movie I've ever seen. Absolutely well done though. So sorry it came during a hard time for you personally. Hope you can sprinkle in some light-hearted stuff. I know you started the Indiana Jones movies. So that's a good break from the heavy stuff.

navghtivs

I think the 2 girls 1 cup reaction thing was the first big reaction wave on youutube.

My_Cousin_Mose

"The king in the north arises" -Maaaaaan do I love Walder Frey. It took me a few rewatches but this is good stuff. I remember watching this with my mom on her first watch and i had to convince her not to quit watching the show after this one.

My_Cousin_Mose

Yes Rob screwed up big time by forsaking his promise to marry Walder Frey's daughter. That was about far more than romance it was a political alliance in a war torn country. Rob screwed up big time and they all paid for it.

William Connery

Ugly crying over the Red Wedding is totally forgiven and understandable, if it’ll make you feel better there’s tons of reactions to this episode on YouTube where people sobbed uncontrollably

Alan Kobb

I've never said this before, and I'm pretty sure I'll never say it again. I'm sorry to watch you watching this. When I first saw The Red Wedding I was also watching alone. It's tough to get through it, and hard because I felt sad that you took it so hard. Roose Bolton didn't tell Robb that he had betrayed him, and Robb had no way of knowing. When Robb took Lord Karstark's head, nearly half of his army left him. Everyone knew that Robb was losing the war. Robb's plan to besiege Casterly Rock was a move of desperation, and everyone knew it. Walder Frey and Roose Bolton knew that by switching sides they could end the war and end up as the winners with gifts from the Lannisters. It didn't hurt that both lords envied their overlords. Walder Frey earned the disrespect he was given by The Tullys, but seethed anyway. Hundreds of years ago The Boltons had been the largest house in the North, and were frequent rivals of The Starks before suffering a final defeat. Every Lord Bolton since had bowed to the Stark Kings and Lords with contempt. In case you're wondering, George R.R. Martin has said that this was inspired by Scottish history, the Black Dinner of 1440 and the Massacre of Glencoe of 1692.

Anonymous

It was always soo stupid to me that Rob jus willingly married that lady when its like bro if you really wanna break that promise, then do it afta you're safely back in the North or on the Iron Throne. Could've still been bangin o gurl up until he achieved victory but naw homie got caught slippin

Al Baughman

I was looking forward to seeing this but now I'm sad, I don't like seeing you cry like that. I like watching you laugh. This show has good moments too. Next week you'll get to my favorite scene, in 4.1, it's not a tearjerker

Ellis Hugh

His youth and inherited idealism finally caught up with him.

Alex B

Omg I’m so sorry this was so emotional for you. I remember my roommate, who read the books, lied to me when I asked what happens to Rob cuz he was my favorite and I was so mad at him after this episode. Hope you’ll still enjoy the series going forward even with the heartbreak, it’s so fun rewatching with fresh eyes.

Ellis Hugh

Probably the Red Wedding's most interesting aspect is that it single-handedly started the entire reaction video craze... it really is a piece of media history. Also, for what it's worth, there's are scenes down the road that many feel are more upsetting, but if you made it through this, you made it through your initiation.

Louis Melendez

This goes into the Reaction Hall of Fame. No question.

Joseph Tamburo

This was an amazing reaction.

Jayson Phillips

this was my exact reaction as well!!! I was like fuck this show its bullshit!! then there I was next season watching again *sigh*

Anonymous

I read the books before I watched the series and I cried then and I cried when I saw it play out on TV. Hell I choked up again rewatching now! It's definitely a powerful episode.

Tony Johnson

I did a little fist pump when you recognized the band was playing the Rains of Castamere!

Troy B.

I honestly dreaded you seeing this episode, and winced every time you used to mention it in passing. Frankly this episode was why I had originally voted against this show in the poll, I didn't want you to have to deal with it. It's one of the most gut-wrenching episodes of a TV show I've ever seen, if not THE most, on so many levels. (This episode is also why I don't get why ANYone ever has a "Game of Thrones" themed wedding. Hardly seems auspicious, all things considered.) Other episodes have shocked me more than this one, but this one gutted me. People like to talk about Joffrey, or [guy torturing Theon whose name you don't yet know], but for me, Walder Frey was the most despicable character.

Steven Tarsitano

man stop bein a wuss. this episode is what MADE reactions on youtube popular. it's a great series to react to and if you voted against it for this one episode i think you made a poor choice.

Anonymous

I will never forget reading this scene in the book. I threw my book across the room and sat in silence for a long time. But there are things to come that will ease the pain before you get your heart torn apart again.

Steven Tarsitano

you are no longer a sweet summer child, and you are now a woman of winter.

Anonymous

Virtual hug after that episode!

Heliastein

Wow man this is the best explanation i've seen for that specific episode!

Doug Watson

Hey Natalie, if you're interested I have a link to an interactive map of Westeros and Essos. It shows the locations and paths of the characters. The website mentions spoilers, but it only displays deaths. So not that spoileryish, yeah that's a word. Here it is: https://quartermaester.info/

Anonymous

The episode that spawned the whole genre of reaction videos. I don't know how many times I've watched that scene and being there with people seeing it for the first time still gets me. What an amazing achievement of storytelling that it has this level of effect on so many people.

Anonymous

The real props on the story of course have to go to Martin. He's the one that laid it out and set it up. In the books Rob's wife was a much smaller role, and making her a bigger character just makes this scene that much more powerful.

Kenneth thomas

This is why I became a patron. Though it feels a bit...wrong now...

Anonymous

That's a tough one. Appreciate the react, though. Thanks.

Robert Reichle

Me too, but I regret watching the rest of the series now. I wish I had just stopped here like I wanted to.

Robert Reichle

What a fun series, right? Only about 40 more episodes to get through.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Not gonna lie that was harder to watch, and rewatch, than I anticipated. I knew this damn episode was coming but it was tough to watch her watch that ending. They really murdered any stubborn residual semblance of innocence in this show with this one, it's like, you can no longer call anyone who's still watching it after this point, a "sweet summer child". I was prepared when I watched this the first time because I started watching in the 5th season and when I bought the DVDs and I started from Season One I knew "all these people ain't gone make it" lol, sadly it was spoiled for me by then, yet it was still pretty fkn shocking when I actually watched. And I recently lost someone about as close as can be, and I do get suddenly emotional when I see certain things in the movies and shows I watch lately, I am a movie nerd and it's kind of how I deal with certain things sometimes. This and music of course, and humor, learned you can't get through this thing called being a human without a sense of humor. But I felt this one more painfully than I did the first time I saw it. On the bright side, I'm glad that in my world weddings don't generally end up in slaughter, just legendary hangovers and awkward mornings after for the lucky ones in the entourage.

Anonymous

Oh wow Natalie, I just wanted to hold you through the tears. Since that wasn't an option, virtual hug instead. It is probably one of the hardest scenes of any series I've ever experienced. The one grace we had was that Arya didn't make it inside.

Anonymous

saw the title and had to mentally prepare myself for this one. It's such a shock seeing it for the first time that it genuinely feels traumatic. (which feels ridiculous to say about a tv show but it's true.) I found myself saying "oh god, poor Natalie" under my breath once the actual act began.

Anonymous

"I like Bolton, Lord Bolton is a good man." -Natalie, two weeks ago

Steven Tarsitano

I've seen the whole show before, and there are alot of clues leading to the red wedding. i'm surprised you didn't pick up on it more, then again i didn't pick up on it much on my first viewing. in the episodes this season leading up to the red wedding, you can start to see the Boltons make dealings with the Lannisters to foreshadow that they planned to betray the starks. and there's also alot of people mentioning the wedding at the twins all season.

Anonymous

It broke my heart to watch you watch that, I’m sorry!

Jai Nelson

Anybody know what we’re watching Friday? Is it Temple of Doom?

Anonymous

You're one of the few who actually realized it was the "Rains of Castamere" that started playing when they closed the doors. Well done!

Ellis Hugh

I noticed that to and was going to comment, but then I realized that she watches with the subtitles on and it came up in the close captioning when they started playing.

If you remember, before Jamie was released by Lord Bolton (the man who stabs Robb and says 'the Lannisters send their regards', Jamie actually says to him to tell them the Lannisters send their regards. All of this was part of the deal that Tywin arranged with Bolton and Walder. Walder wanted revenge, but that was just Tywin's way in to get the deal done. I know it was rough, but you've made it past the initiation... now the real work begins.

Ellis Hugh

Temple of Doom? Ugh, no, I hope not. I know Endgame should be dropping soon, so maybe that.

Rudolph Koch

I don't think anyone got out of this episode unscared

I was scarred for life from that episode.

Trey Hinds

You are a summer child no more.

I read the books and then promptly forgot about the red wedding until right as it was about to happen. A stunning scene.

Anonymous

Every time you mentioned or wondered or hoped to see the Red wedding my stomach would sink with dread. You had such an innocent smile that just instantly broke me heart. And watching you go through that left it shattered on the floor

Anonymous

this episode made me read the books. I was so shocked and pissed at the same time. i told myself never again after that

Yani Dodge

Oh Natalie! I'm sorry it hit you now with things going on in your personal life, I hope you're doing OK <3

Anonymous

This episode hits hard. Nothing prepares you for it, but Natalie's reactions were so sad! Quick, we need a lighthearted comedy asap.

Anonymous

Watching along with the reaction was heart wrenching. When I first saw the episode originally people had been talking about the red wedding, so it didn't hit that hard at the time. This... time... not so much.

Michael Patrick

I’ll NEVER forget when I first saw it. I had never heard of “The Red Wedding”, I was completely in the dark. I couldn’t sleep for like two days lol

Michael Patrick

And you gotta love how they (the show runners/GRRM) assume some people may hear about this “Red Wedding” so within the span of a few episodes they have Joffrey & Margery get engaged, Loras & Cersei get engaged, Sansa & Tyrion marry, and this one seems innocent enough with just being Edmure & Roslyn. RIP Cat, Robb, Greywind, Talissa, and Lil Eddard 💔🏹⚔️🐺

Travis

This episode was the genesis of TV/Movie reaction culture on YouTube

ramon carter

that music is the lannister song why would they play that at a stark/tully wedding? thats why catlin had that weird look on her face and they locked up grey wind because he sensed the betrayal too

ramon carter

also the hound saved arya's life if she would have went in she would be dead too

ramon carter

karstark told robb the moment you married that girl you lost the war

Paul Gibbons

Important thing to remember is that Frey never acts alone and never would have acted without Bolton and Lannister support.

Daniel Restaro

The Lion triumphs over the wailing Wolf... ;(

I quit GOT for 3 years after this episode. I couldn’t take it anymore. I eventually completed the series... but I’ve never gone back and watched the red wedding until now. It was too much

Anonymous

Man I did the exact same thing, the show was never the same for me after this.

Anonymous

After Robb lost the Karstarks, Bolton knew he was on the losing side, so he and the Frey's switched their support to the Lannisters. He married a Frey girl to seal the deal.

Samuel K

"Hmm, I don't think I want to rewatch all of GOT... wait - the red wedding? Yeah, let's watch this destroy another person."

Jason Eddy

This is the only one of all 73 episodes that ends with no music. And yes, every single episode 9 is the major one...either a battle or an event. On the bright side there are only 3 more episode 9's left. Seasons 7 & 8 have 7 and 6 episodes respectively.

SarahfemmeNicole

Catelyn gets me every time. You have to remember when Robb dies - she thinks all her kids are dead or gone. She thinks Bran and Rickon burned, that Arya died (or is missing) and that Sansa is prisoner. (And we all know she didnt count Jon). So when Robb dies, she snaps. Literally.

Ellis Hugh

It's a shame we never got to see Lady Stoneheart, despite Lena Heady's trolling...

A L

Am I the only one who thinks the worst death is Grey Wind? I hate the way they did it in the show. At least in the books he got to take out several Freys before they finally took him down.

Andrew Clifton

Yes Rob made many mistakes. Making the oath to marry the Frey daughter in the first place, breaking that oath, executing Kastark and then going back to the house of those he dishonored. Ned made a lot of mistakes that got us here. Going to Kings Landing to begin with, snooping around too much, trusting the wrong people, telling Cercies what he knew and then not listening to Renley when he said we need to strike now and get Geoffrey away from the queen. The person who started all this mess though was Catlyn when she prematurely took Tyrion prisoner. Had she not done that Jamie wouldnt have wounded Ned at the brothel, Ned would have told Robert the truth, he would have killed Cersie , Jamie and their kids and the majority of Westeros would have joined the crown to take out the Lannisters.

Yuri Reis

Do you honestly think that Robert would have done anything if Ned told him that? You can't exacly prove that Joffrey wasn't his son just because of his hair, that was always rumors that Jaime and Cersei were together even when Robert was alive, but no proof too. All he had was theories and the idea that the Lannisters (Tyrion) had gave a knife to kill Bran, even that couldn't be proved and was of course a lie of Little Finger. Robert would have been to proud to admit that he was deceived by everyone around him all this time, even if his best friend/brother Ned told him that. When you try to see from Roberts perspective he wouldn't have much to do about it. In this new scenario he probably would have been assassinated in some other way by the Lannisters. And the war would have happend the same way.

Tommy Ross

Wow, Sam killed a fucking White Walker - the first person ever - and you still don't care about them. I'm out at this point. You're a consistently mean person, and it makes me sad to listen to you laugh at cruelty.

Danny

let's be honest, we all love sam but noNE of us liked his and gillie's storyline at first.
