Randee Carreno

Downloading this right now to watch this evening. 😊 Even though it's only a few episodes in, it's an interesting series so far. Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Ronny Boss

Damn Ian ice cream sounds good. I might pick some up for when I watch

Danishprince

You are absolutely spoiling us Nat - An upload every day of the week so far, this is everything I have dreamed of since finding your channel :D

john collins

I can only pray we keep getting the daily upload! I'm having so much fun rewatching this along with you!

Calo Grsf

Thanks a lot Nat! But I wonder, are you going to keep releasing the videos at this rate? I hope you don't force yourself on that point Stay Golden and Be safe!

Darryl Low

It's an honour to be watching with you again tonight, Nat. Thank you 💛 Your "She's a peach too" line, certainly was. You can just see, even this early in the show, that every actor knows that they are part of something special, and they are giving it their all.

You wondered / spoke a bit about Jon having the surname Snow. Bastards are given different surnames in different regions across Westeros. Bastards born in the North are given the surname Snow, for example.

Tranquil_Gnome

Another great watch-along. Loving the daily unloads. I'm glad this one was not as draining for you. Keep up the good work and keep those tissues at hand when watching GoT.

Another great reaction, Natalie, and no more tears! Bran is short for Brandon. It's not important for the plot, but he's named for one of his ancestors, Bran "the Builder" Stark who, according to legend, built the wall as well as Winterfell thousads of years ago. Winter is coming. A pithy slogan as well as a warning. To begin with, they didn't have central heating. In the winter, you needed to have enough wood to keep yourself alive until spring. It was harder in ancient times. It's harder when winter can last for years. How much food do you need to keep in storage if you don't know how long it will last? You've also got to remember that just as humans are having trouble finding food, so is every other creature. You go hunting for a boar for dinner, and the boar also hasn't had much to eat and wouldn't mind eating you. Eventually, you start running out of wild animals to hunt as well. Of course, just as everywhere else, it's good to be rich. From the books, Witerfell is built over hot springs, so they have a natural source of warmth. Jon is called Snow because he is a bastard. Even though he is the eldest son of Ned Stark, he has no right of inheritance, even of the name, so Jon's eldest half-brother Robb Stark is Ned's successor. The tradition is to give a bastard a name from the region that he was born in, so some of the bastards you will meet along the way will be called Jon Snow (The North), Bryndon Rivers (The Riverlands) and Obara Sand (Dorne, in the South). In the books, the King has a bastard son named Edric Storm (The Stormlands). There are others regions with their own bastard names, but I forget them right now.

Sand, Storm, Stone, Hill, Rivers, Waters, Flowers and Pyke.

Thank you for the great reaction video, Your introduction was so funny. Does any one else also like how Nat has been doing her own "previously on" at the start of the shows where she has been talking about all the stuff that has happened? also I started working on rules for Nat's Drinking game. this is just for fun if you are over 21 drink responsibly! when Nat says "who is that" or is confused about a characters name when Nat says "what" a lot when Nat says "Jesus Christ" when Nat rolls her eyes at something or gives the camera her wide eye look. when Nat cries ok those are what I have come up with do any of you have any other ideas for rules for the Nat reaction drinking game?

Came here to say exactly this. We'll see other bastards in the future with the last names Sand, Waters, etc.

A tip on how to keep track of events and people, so that it's easier to understand what is going on and how it affects the story: Keep track of names and who they are (Jorah Mormont assisting Khaleesi and Ser Mormont teaching at the Castle Black). Khaleesi does mean queen (female leader/wife of Khal - Khal Drogo, Drogo being the Name and Khal a title. Jon Snow's name comes from being a bastard. Snow is given as name to bastards in the north, and later there will be another: Sand, indicating another geographical area.

Anonymous

Don't know if this has been stated but the intro animation is slightly different every episode. It shows where each scene takes place in the grand scheme of things. Really helps with geography.

Troy B.

I am a sucker for the episodes where people don't die. But they are SO rare.

Rune

Noble bastards from the North are Surnamed Snow. Noble bastards from the Riverlands are Surnamed Rivers. Noble bastards from the Crownlands are Surnamed Waters. Noble bastards from the Iron Isles are Surnamed Pyke. Noble bastards from the Reach are Surnamed Flowers. Noble bastards from the Stormlands are Surnamed Storm. Noble bastards from the Vale are Surnamed Stone. And noble bastards from the Westerlands are Surnamed Hill.

Rune

So far you have met two characters named Mormont.

Sean

"Winter is coming." One thing the show hasn't mentioned (and I don't know if it does) is that summers in Westeros last for about 10 years and winter can also last several years. So, winters are indeed rough.

Sean

Oh, they mentioned it partway through this episode.

based on watching your reactions of playing The Wolf Among Us, I figure you are not a huge fan of that game genre, but it is a lot more fun then your first interaction with that game would make you think. you have to really be invested in the subject matter to care about playing such a story driven game, if you were a huge fan of graphic novel you would have been a lot more interested in the experience, is my assumption. You might just find the mechanics boring and not like the puzzles who knows making loads of assumptions. Long story not short at all, they made a TellTale game for Game Of Thrones where you get to talk and interact with most of the cast of the show, the main issue is that the GOT Telltale game takes place during season 3-4 of the tv show so until you are past those seasons it might spoil plot points for you, I can't recall all the spoilers from the game off the top of my head but I am assuming it has a lot of them, but if your interested in giving story based games a chance again in the future you might like this game, also the art design for the game is amazing the entire game has the look and feel of an impressionist painting, almost like Monet vision. I know that was a long winded way of say there is a Telltale video game for GOT but you can't play it till you get past season 4 or it will spoil the story.

the Bastards in the seven Kingdoms are each given a "generic" last name according to their region. In the North, Bastards are called "Snow" (In the south there is a desert kingdom, those bastards are called "Sand", in the Riverlands they are called "Rivers" etc. etc.) The curse in that society of not getting your father's name...

A Vicarious View

Winter is Coming is the house motto of the Starks. It's basically "be prepared for hard times ahead".

WackySwacky

I can't believe I'm actually rewatching the series now, but here I am. The stuff they adapted from the books is really great stuff. If only George R. R. Martin had finished them.

Season 3 is gonna be fun

Alan Kobb

Zach-- Please watch out about spoilers, even generic spoilers like this one.

Sir_Dalagad

Natalie: "Well, I would rather act like Arya than anyone else in this show. She's the only one with a brain, it seems." Arya doesn't care what anyone thinks except the few people she respects. Gotta love Arya.

Emily Smith

"Winter is coming" serves 2 purposes. First, it is the motto of House Stark. All the houses have one that they tend to model themselves on. Second, the saying is more of a proverb. It more or less means "Be prepared."

swoop_13-37

You'll find out why his last name is snow.... Soon. Tyrian when up there to piss of the top of the wall. Personally I can't wait for righteous fury, a downpour, and happy joy in death..... Sadly it will happen.... At least it did for me.

Emily Smith

There's no spoilers with saying why his last name is Snow. It is the generic last name given to bastards born in the North. If he had been born in in Dorne (desert area) it would have been Sand. In the Riverlands, it would have been Rivers. The last name is just a generic description of where they were born.

Michael Patrick

Best character in GoT? THE MUSIC. It is top notch. Every major house has their own theme, the score throughout the series is near perfect imo

I dont know if someone already told you, Danaeris is supposed to be 13 in the first book.

That was cool. You do cry a lot. Didn’t think I’d like the series very much. It’s still fun watching along with you, Nat. Respect ✊🏿
