This is a movie I hadn't seen Nat, so I was looking forward to watching along with you. An amazing film and your commentary really added another level of emotion and understanding to it. Thanks for adding it to the ever growing list of reactions on your channel, and reminding us that, yes, everybody loves the blockbusters, but it's with this kind of movie that the real stories are told. Thanks Nat 💛

So glad you got to see this one. My personal favorite of the movies nominated for Best Picture that year (2016) was Arrival, but Moonlight deserved it just as much. And A24 is one of my favorite film studios; they make a lot of my favorite movies these days. I agree: such a beautiful film. I'm not ashamed to say it made me cry more than once. I remember after I watched it the first time wondering how many were finally able to say: "Finally, a movie for me" for the first time in their lives. And it's just a great film on its own merits, so I'm really looking forward to this watch-along. Cheers, Nat!

This is going to be my entertainment for tonight. An excellent movie along with your reaction. I'm really looking forward to watching this along with you. 😊 Such a amazing movie! Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Great reaction, as always, Nat! I liked the sharp transitions too, from chapter to chapter. I liked that it let me fill in the blanks of the missing years, and trusted that I'd pick up what happened. I imagine Juan died because of something regarding his drug-dealing, but I don't think it's necessarily important to know. The water is a strong theme, and I imagine that's also why Chiron told Kevin that he only drinks water. Being a theater geek myself, I love seeing movies based on plays. It used to be commonplace, but not so much anymore. This and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (also on Netflix) are good contemporary examples, but I think it should be more of a thing again. It'll be interesting to see the YouTube edit, given that so many of the scenes involved long, uncut takes. Some other A24 movies I would recommend are The Farewell, Swiss Army Man, Lady Bird and Hereditary, on your own time, anyway, although I think Hereditary has enough of a following that you could do a reaction to it, although you might want to save it for the next Nat-mares. Anyway, a wonderful reaction, as always. Thanks for the smiles (and tears). Cheers!

Wow - I'm sort of kicking my self that I never saw this film until now. I guess there is a reason for everything! Just amazing to see how some people (because of socio-cultural circumstances, and beyond) have to sublimate who they are - or a big part of them. To live in fear like that, for so long - no wonder there are such high suicide rates among teens from so many walks of life. Hoping that many people see films like this and can get a TINY perspective on what it's like to feel "different" and have to hide and how that can curb your entire potential. So great to have experienced the "reaction" with someone so sensitive and open to human experience.

Plan B is run by Brad Pitt. Good reaction as always.

Where is it found?

It Hurt A Lot

This one hurt. I even felt for his Mom because of all her regret. I shudder knowing many many people are suffering like this irl. Maybe that's why I like stories that transport me to another world so much

What a deep, moody piece. This is a really fascinating layered character study that I’m so glad I had you in my ear for to help analyze and appreciate. I think movies like this challenge me in a good way. I’m white, I’m straight, I’m middle class from California living in Kentucky so I have no frame of reference or connection to this. And yet, you still get drawn in. And you think about... moments in the moonlight. Moments that touch despite how much the world hurts and no matter how high the walls. The moments that you need to survive and, if lucky enough, you can come back to. Yes, truly excellent. And truly worth watching and experiencing. And nice to step back from the blockbusters and take a drink from a cool spring. Thank you.

I watched this for the first time with you and I Loved every minute of it!

What you mentioned at the end about the movie feeling like a play and how other films move by so quick - I think that’s just kind of a Hollywood thing. A lot of foreign films, indie “arthouse” films, and older ones especially New Wave cinema from like the 70’s are much slower in pacing with really letting scenes breathe. I feel like that’s actually a lost art, a lot of people will call those movies boring or not understand the genius because we’ve all been conditioned to process film a mile a minute.

This film is just so amazing and beautiful that its hard not to like it. Nothing against La La Land but this one did deserve Best Picture.
