Hey guys!

The time has come, the day is here and sadly, we have come to the last and final episode of Firefly! I seriously enjoyed this episode a lot and I hope you enjoy this reaction as well. This one definitely warmed me to River even more and has amped up the anticipation to watch Serenity with you! We probably won't make it to Serenity until mid/late January so apologies for the wait, but it will be oh so sweet when we get to it.

As always, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Until the next one, ✨⛄❄stay golden and MERRY FRICKIN CHRISTMASSSS!!!🎄🎁✨

"Until the next one," ... Yeah, erh... Hmm... Okay, Serenity counts. :)

Luis Torrefranca

Yay! You made it! Looking forward to the Serenity viewing in January. Merry Christmas, Browncoat. Watch them apples.

Stephen W. Evans

My favorite episode! Also, the first bit of Firefly I ever saw was in the middle of this episode.

Tom Evans

We had to wait 3 years for Serenity after the series originally aired, so I think we can make it 1 month! ;) When you're about to start the movie, think about the fans of the show sitting in a movie theater about to see these characters again on the big screen! It seemed impossible that it was happening, and it was the most excited that I've ever been for a movie.

Neil Silverman

So glad you went through this series, and can't wait for you to get to Serenity. I know it may be a while, but that's ok. We all waited years. Maybe one day we'll be able to convince you to give Farscape a try.

Scott Greene

Waiting with baited breath for you to see this one. Very much looking forward to re-watching the film with you! So glad you like this show as much as you do. I like to think that Earl's misunderstandings was down to River messing with his head in a subtle way, but I'm not sure if she can actually do that. But at the very least I think that Earl is well aware of what The Alliance is...he just thought Simon said "lion".

Luis Torrefranca

So, remember when you were wondering why River didn't answer questions directly? Here we get some of why.

Gath Bard

Merry Christmas, everyone.

Luis Torrefranca

"Enough with these philosophical questions! What is wrong with you?" ... a lot.

Andrew T

"the crazy, beepy killy thing…" This is why I'm a patron.

MotoDork

This is a hard one to watch at times.

Darryl Low

This was a great episode. All the foreshadowing done at the beginning. A slow burner and through the bad guy we learned new information about each character, and then reversed it so that River gets the bad guy talking about himself. Very well done, and a creepy theme accompanying him. And River redeeming herself and changing everyone's opinion of her, and to see you tearing up when she was going to leave. Wow. They are a team, and when the chips are down, they always put their differences aside. Great video Nat, and look forward to watching the movie along with you next year. Thanks and a Merry Frickin Christmas to you too!!!!! :)

Just for clarity, the two ships are not standing still, what he did was sneak up behind them and matched velocity so they are both traveling at the same speed and direction. It just looks like they are standing still relative to each other.

When you cry, you make me cry again... The feels this show can make you feel. Also The mention of Christmas and Santa and gifts, along with the Christmas lights around Kaylee‘s room… This DEFINITELY qualifies as a Christmas episode 🤓 🎄🧤🧣☃️🍗 🎁

I need three or four more seasons of this show. Instead we have the pleasure of re-watching this season as we introduce others to this wonderful series.

Garrick Smalley

"Is this guy broken?" Yes he is. There is a thought going around that he is a failed version of what River could have been if Simon had not rescued her. I am so glad you like this series. I am hoping you will watch Dollhouse before you move on to Buffy or Farscape. Dollhouse is another canceled Joss tv series. It did get 1.5 seasons and it has a different premise.

Sean

Jubal floating out in space perfectly embodies us Browncoats after the cancellation. ;n;

Natalie, your level of restraint is surprising. In your place, I would have binge watched The movie long before this. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and best wishes for 2021. You have been one of the very few pleasant discoveries of 2020.

Next time you tell me to grab a drink I might just say nuts to that. Just about spit some up when you mentioned the Santa reference. Lol. This is a good follow up to the Niska episode scene, "She just, just did the math." Terrifying, but I'm glad they're friends again. When Simon said Alliance and Jubal heard liar, I'm feeling like River is taking a first shot past reading minds into messing with them. Sooo much lost potential for the story. Both those ships are moving, together, it's just hard to tell in space with no reference. Have fun spinning in space Jubal for scaring poor Kaylee like that! I'd like to defend Jayne a bit as he's my favorite character. He's pretty harsh compared to the crew, but considering the world(s) he lives in and how he ain't educated so good he's not so bad. I think he's become a better person during our time on the ship. Although after watching a few times, I still cringe at some of his early lines too. Anyways, another great reaction. I Patreon'd up for these and can't wait for Serenity. January isn't that far away. (Ed. Also now that you like Alan Tudyk, can we get Rogue One soon?)

Troy B.

Thank you for doing this series; despite supposedly being a fan of the show, I hadn't watched it in over a decade, so I had forgotten a lot of details (having watched a TON of TV shows between now and then), so it was fun revisiting this, almost like watching it for the first time. (But with a lot of "Oh yeah, I remember that now.")

John

Early thought Simon said "lion." That's why he made the comment about having a mighty roar. Definitely looking forward to Rogue One!

Texas Anla'Shok

If you notice, they took a few cues from Boba Fett in Early, most notably the design of his ship.

Aaron Lovik

If you're a reader, there are some comics and novels that are considered by Joss Whedon to be official canon.

Robert Reichle

I wouldn't mind at all if there were no Christmas movies. Every reaction channel is loaded with Christmas stuff. It's getting repetitive.

Dan

Yeah Jubil had a few wires loose and just misheard a few things. Pretty sure he knows what the Alliance is. Some folks have suggested that River was messing with his head, but I'm somewhat inclined to think that her reading inherently interferes with people's mental operations a bit. Kind of like the Uncertainty Principle -- you can't measure a thing without affecting what's being measured. She'd heard the thoughts of other people before without them mishearing each other, but those were surface level thoughts they were creating, rather than her drudging up past memories or eavesdroping on what they were hearing from another person. But Jubil also had enough wrong with him that he may just regularly mishear people. It is interesting to think, too, that he may be a failed, earlier version of River, considering he aimed at Simon without looking. Needless to say, flaming bags of poop should be regularly delivered to the Fox execs for the rest of their lives for robbing us of all the stories that could have been.

Matthew Periolat

What an ending and that Santa reference on Christmas Eve... makes you wonder about divine planning at times, if we are not meant to to certain things at a certain time at a certain place... then again, it could just be coincidence. And how ironic that in this season of peace, we know the New Year will bring Serenity. Merry Christmas all. And thanks, Nat. For everything.

Ron K

This episode had some of my favorite writing by Whedon. When I saw this episode for the first time I was living with a buddy and his girlfriend. I think it was months before any of us could ask a question without getting back "Am I lion?" as a response.

Joel

Breaking Bad! Breaking Bad!

Andrew T

I pulled out my old Firefly DVD set and started re-watching the series with the audio commentary track. If you can get your hands on that, or if your streaming service offers commentary tracks, I'd check it out (on your own, not to react to). The commentary with Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk are particularly entertaining.

Good stuff Nat

Okay. I just want to give Nat fair warning about Serenity: ADR. But it's still amazeballs!!

Heidi Liedtke

Just caught up on watching the past 7 or 8 reactions! It's been so great rewatching this series again - it's been quite a few years since the first time I watched it the entire way through. Looking forward to Serenity!

Alan Kobb

"For those of you massive Firefly fans..." Really, Natalie? I thought you were one of us!

Kevin Cleary

I can't wait for Nat to react to the next season Disney is working on now. Zoe and her daughter are going to be awesome!

Misty Crom

Early's not so much a sandwich short of a picnic, he's a picnic short of a picnic. I was amused by your slowly being mildly less certain that River wasn't actually the ship. I think most of us watching this episode the first time were the same. Nice for Simon and River to get some of the 'lines' too. Like telling Mal not to make faces.

Doug Willour

Natalie, don't know your feelings on anime, but highly recommend "Your Name". Easily one of the best emotional roller coasters I've ever seen.

Dale Josephson

It is great fun watching you and hearing your comments. As a fan who watched from the premier on, all I can say is welcome to the community of long suffering Browncoats. So sorry you have to see it end as we all did. Keep up the greatly entertaining reviews!

Cripkie

Serenity will be a tear jerker for nat but pain is a part of life. "Everything that has a beginning has a end", the oracle.

Andy Jordan

Terrific reaction, as always. Glad you were so open to and loved one of my personal all-time favorite shows. Looking foward to Serenity, and yes, get your tissues ready.
