One tidbit of backstage insight here - the somber faces in the funeral-ish scene are genuine... Joss Whedon shot that scene immediately after telling everyone that the series had been cancelled by Fox

John

This was actually the last episode filmed, and the sad music at the end was written as much as a funeral for the show as it was for Tracey.

Aaron Lovik

You should watch the gag reel for the show after episode 14. There is a particularly good one from this episode.

Joel Palenychka

A little clarification... Mal shot Tracy, not Jane. Jane just distracted him. It makes Mal's comment afterward more relevant. Tracey: Well, that call, that call means you just murdered me. Mal: No, son, you murdered yourself. I just carried the bullet a while.

MotoDork

You are almost there

Darryl Low

Wow. Definitely a heartbreaking episode this one. Why is it that every time they get the bottle out on this show, they end up in trouble. Dinosaurs are pretty heavy, that's why they don't slide off the console :) Maybe a Whedon coincidence but Jayne says the line "Spry for a dead fella", and Tony Stark says the line "Spry for an older fella" to Cap. America in Avengers. Ultimately they did carry out his last wishes, there were just a few surprises along the way. Great reaction Nat. Thank you.

Once you get through this one and take a break for Marvel and serenity, if you are liking sci-fi shows and want to invest considerable time, I recommend the expanse.

Tay Schumaker

And composer Greg Edmodson wrote the music for that scene as his farewell to the series as well

Ron K

How did he arrange the shipping? LOL! I love that was your question!

Danishprince

So close to the end.. I'm not ready for this journey to be over, again :D

John

Can you put your microphone about 20 feet away. You scream REALLY loud. ;) (kidding - I love that you have fun with your reactions)

Matthew Periolat

Well, this was sobering. Honestly, Firefly could have done so much with another season, so it’s heartbreaking to know only two episodes are left plus Serenity. I know Christmas will delay a touch, but cannot wait to Serenity in the New Year, along with what the future holds.

Thundarr100

So Nat, how long before you buy yourself a replica of Jayne's toque?

Baron

Thank you, this was another great video! Oops hit return by accident. Your comments as always are hilarious and heartfelt and interesting. When you commented on the scene at the start with Simon being a goof, what I think people miss is that yah she is the only woman in the world for him, which makes him the same thing for her... Right maybe that was what frustrates Kaylee, as much as the fact that Simon is always inserting his foot in to his mouth. Also I forgot this when I was writing this, but I loved your blinking at the camera moment, that was funny. Great episode!

John

Nat, when you're ready to watch Serenity, please watch and react to the introduction to the movie by Joss Whedon. It's about 4 minutes long and should be on the extra features on the disc. If you are streaming and it's not available, it can be found on YouTube. It's not important for the story, but it tells you how important the movie was to him, the cast and crew and the Browncoats. FYI, this intro was originally for a pre-production screening, which is why he mentions "it's not finished."

Alexis

I don't think they're fake cops, just corrupt.

Alan Kobb

Not just that. Before Serenity you should react to the R.Tam sessions. They were Whedon's effort at viral marketing for the movie. They give just a bit more background on River without giving anything away. Very cool, and it's on YouTube.

Aaron Taft

Again! I needed this today. Thank you Nat

8bitAndy

This episode hits me extra hard because it's the episode they were shooting when they found out they were getting cancelled. So many feels. So sad it's almost over... again. 😭

Sean

When you can't run, you crawl... Love this episode.

It's a well known fact that dinosaurs had magnetic feet. Pay closer attention next time you watch Jurassic Park, Night at the Museum, Toy Story and episodes of the Flintstones. Wish I looked as good when wearing that hat.

You should definitely have a react vid of the bloopers!!! I'd love to see your take on them, especially the one from this episode 😊😊

Jeff

I don't understand the point of going on patreon paying $5(which isn't much but still paying for something) to go on there to watch full reactions but have a blurred video and blurred covered up(Mandalorian) and only see reactions. It doesn't make sense; sure I like the reactions but I also like watching the video to see what you're reacting too. Yes, I can play the video with it but why should I???? Plus there are parts you paused at...you can't

Jeff

can't

If she creates a video that contains a full copy of Josh Whedon's original work, she can get in all sorts of copyright infringement trouble. I am sure she would rather do what you want. It would be easier for her, but she takes the time to blur the picture enough to avoid copyright trouble but enough is visible to re-sync your playback to hers throughout the video if they diverge.

Anonymous

Yes! I’d hazard to claim it’s one of the best gag reel moments if all time! It also hammers home how special the show was to the cast. Well, that and the ensuing decades of comicon panels.

Shadowcat

She clearly states in the Patreon description of her channel: "these videos are edited in a watch along style format, so you will need your own copy of the film/show to sync up with me!" Not to mention that she adds that disclaimer verbally in most, if not all, of her YouTube videos whenever she mentions her Patreon channel. If you didn't read the description or listen to her own words before you signed up, that's on you. As Don said, she can't just post full-length videos of copyrighted works without potentially getting into a lot of trouble with the copyright holders. There are other Patreon creators who are posting full videos, but that's their decision to risk the potential fall-out. Natalie has chosen her risk comfort level. If you're not happy about that, you don't have to subscribe to her Patreon. And she does not pause the video at any point. I sync up my copy of whatever video she's watching and I have never had to pause and re-sync in any video. Honestly, sometimes I wish she would pause so she can comment and talk without missing dialogue or action in the show or movie, but that would definitely make it more difficult for those of us watching along to stay synced up, so I completely understand her decision.

Martin Firth

Not with that attitude, Jeff! You can!

John

Your membership to Nat's Patreon gets you her reaction, not the show itself. You're getting exactly what you paid for.

Ronny Boss

Sry I'm late, loved this reaction. I never noticed that the dinosaurs not moving when they are doing hard maneuvers. Very perceived gurl 😁 And Jeff as my grandmother would say. Oh darlin bless your heart 😋

Garrick Smalley

Sorry I'm late. Love when you yell at the show I did the same my first time through. Correction Mal shot Tracey not Jayne. As has been mentioned look for the gag reel as a tide me over until you get to Serenity. On a side note the next episode Hart of Gold is my least favorite I hope you like it better than I.

Anonymous

She almost made it through without crying...... almost.

Misty Crom

2 episodes left. I seem to recall on the commentary (might be wrong, but...) that Joss had been very tempted to have this as the last episode... and at the time of the commentary, still felt it would have been a good last episode. With Shepherd - not a spoiler here at-all -; he's a shepherd now... doesn't mean he always was.

Anonymous

Maybe it's already been said, but the composer of the beautiful piece at the end when they finally delivered Tracy's body had just learned that the show had been canceled. He wrote that, instead of for the death of a character, for the death of the show.

Texas Anla'Shok

Just occurred to me when I saw her laying on the crate, but River probably realized he was still arrived. Oh, and it wasn't coincidence Mal showed up just then. If you recall, the mail guy said he called Mal over as soon as he realized what he had, Tracey was counting on that to get through before he woke up.

Eddie

For the dinosaurs: So to keep things in place while at sea, and probably in space, you use velcro. it's your best friend.
