Hi All! So I know I said this movie was going to be on hold until November when NATMARE season is over...but I've gotten a little behind this week and figured I might as well release this one so you all have a new movie to watch over the weekend! This movie was so sweet and I'm so happy to share it with you. Great suggestion from everyone who mentioned it!

As always, please let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Until the next one, ✨stay golden!✨

It’s very cool to see all the content that came out in the exact order. Very different order from YouTube Page.

Of course you tempt me with The Neverending Story when I'm supposed to be working! * girly squeals* I may just have to take a break. Lol

Artax scene is the saddest in movie history. I’m sure a lot of people wanted to see your reaction to that Natalie.

Andy Jordan

Glad you got to see this, and I understood why you were thinking about putting it hold, but I think this also makes for a nice palate cleanser for scary movie month. One of my favorite movies as a kid, so looking forward to this. Cheers!

Calo Grsf

It's been a long time since I've seen it, I'm going to go back in my childhood! (even if I dread the moment with Artax haha)

Darryl Low

I think you're allowed some catch up time this weekend Nat. You've been busy of late - exorcising demons, catching ghosts and laughing your socks off with Firefly, and I know everyone here has appreciated every single moment of it. This is the first film you've reacted to that I haven't seen myself, so it will be fun watching along with you.

Which version are you watching. And or Stream service. The version i have is not the same. So keeping it synced is very difficult. So maybe i can use the same as you are if you put in the description which one you have :) Love all the reactions to all the movies and series so far. Keep up the awesome work. :)

Gath Bard

Of course he got him quick. That wolf was so full of 80's cheese it could barely move :P

YAAAAAASSSSS!!!! My local concert venue/theater had a screening of this movies last summer and it was amazing to see it on a big screen. Parents who saw it as kids brought their kids and there was cheering from the audience during the movie. It was an amazing experience. Local theaters should do this kind of stuff again, I hope. I mean, I hope it all doesn’t go digital home viewing. Do you miss the theater experience? I do for sure! But your vids will always be on my list to watch too! Thanks Nat!

I think Bastian is supposed to be short for Sebastian. And I almost spit out my water when you said: "Those are some perky boobs for a children's movie." Classic.

Natalie: Nothing better happen to this horse Me: Um, yeah, about that...

BNJ

If I remember correctly, the book states the reason Atrayu didn’t sink after his horse died is that the amulet he was given protected him.

Where do I start with this one? Until this morning, I hadn’t seen this movie in 30 years, since I was in 7th grade. And after Star Wars, this was, without question, debate or doubt, my favorite movie. And the best news of all? Darn thing still holds up. Not sure how much is nostalgia, how much is the original quality, but so nice to see with fresh eyes and still see it has the ability to reach, 80s cheese and all. But I refuse to badmouth the song. That’s a classic that I’m severely bummed will never get passed copyright cops on YouTube. Ah well, had it here and that is the important thing. So... yeah. I’m not a complete sadist, but knowing Artax was coming and knowing how you loved animals... yeah. Sorry not sorry, if that makes sense. 8 year old Matt of course never noticed boobs on the Oracle statues before, so thank you for pointing that out now too. All kidding aside now, shame they do not really make fantasy movies like this anymore. And I don’t think this is just a kid’s movie, I really don’t. If you let it, it can reach adults too, just accept it. Now, since we are on a nostalgia wagon and we are looking ahead past Natmares, this inspired a few suggestions. Keep in mind, these are just movies I remember enjoying, so YMMV, as the saying goes. I’ll spare you what I know are already suggested (Superman, Star Trek, Batman, Ghostbusters) and try to be original. - Iron Eagle - Top Gun - Stand by Me - The Muppet Movie/The Great Muppet Caper/Muppets Take Manhattan/Dark Crystal/Labyrinth/The Muppet Christmas Carol - The Karate Kid - Animated Hobbit movie - SpaceCamp - Krull - Legend - Willow - Dick Tracy - Dirty Dancing - Beaches - Mermaids - Lucas There are also guilty pleasures for me (Transformers: The Movie, No Holds Barred), but you gotta be in the know on those. Thanks again for making me feel young again for a morning. Look forward to what is next.

First time watching this myself, I can see why this is so fondly loved by kids of the 80s. It’s silly and whimsical fantasy, but it’s got just the right kind of whimsical fantasy charm with those special effects and that excellent soundtrack for it to be thoroughly enjoyable to watch.

It Hurt A Lot

I almost feel a need to apologize for us making you sit through an 80s kids movie haha. But it was so important to so many of us as kids, that I think we just wanted to share it with you. The message behind it has stuck with me. Your reaction to Artax was also the most predictable thing ever but super endearing. You gotta love people with a soft heart for animals!

Patrick Armbruster

Your stumbling over the name again and again was a bit disturbing. ;) ... The story was written by Michael Ende, a german writer. "Bastian" is short for Sebastian and is widely used as a shorter version in the German speaking world. Your timing for wishing that Arthax wouldn't die was quite impeccable, and when you used tissues right at the moment that Bastian did as well to dry some tears away... Perfect. :) ... (When you sneezed right before Morla was coming up, I thought for a moment that this couldn't be true and you had planned that somehow...) ;)

Patrick Armbruster

Btw.: In the German original, the name of the land (Fantasia) is "Fantàsien", which comes from the word "Fantasie", which stands for both "fantasy" and "imagination", which are of course the core idea of the neverending story. It was certainly quite a deep story that had stakes kids would sink their teeth into. I was 10 when this hit cinemas in 1984, and it was the very first movie my mother took me to. It certainly had an impact, seeing how I became an avid reader and a writer of short stories.

TheNeonRabbit

He was the last Bastion of hope. Also, the little man with the racing snail was Deep Roy, who played the Oompa Loompas in Tim Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

JediLounger

This is such a great movie, I love 80s fantasy. I grew up surrounded by books, and as others have said, this movie amplified my interest in reading significantly. My parents were never really into fantasy, so I suspect that this movie, along with a few others, pushed me in that direction.

I think my first gay feelings were for Noah Hathaway/Atreu

Natalie, gotta watch the behind the scenes “Reimagining The NeverEnding Story” documentary. It gives a real good in depth look at the behind the scenes of film. Extremely interesting! You can find it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/W4DP2rDAoRA

Troy B.

I'm glad you pointed out the egomaniacs thing! I didn't catch that as a kid, but as an adult, yeah, not the best message really. "The first gate is the Dunning-Kruger Gate."

Anonymous

My favorite part of the movie is when the Child-like Empress explained what The Neverending Story is to Atreyu. "Just as he is sharing all your adventures, others are sharing his. They were with him when he hid from the boys in the bookstore. They were with him when he took the book with the Auryn symbol on the cover. In which he's reading his own story right now." And then Bastion says "They can't be talking about me." This hit me hard when I finally comprehended what she meant.

Troy B.

LOL @ "There's no way that was your mom's name." At least now we know who would name their kid Bastian! Moon Child! The ending always bothered me slightly. "You can wish for anything you want." "I want to use a Luck Dragon to terrorize bullies and the surrounding neighborhood." - "You... don't want your mom back, or for your dad to understand you?" "Nope. Bully-terrorizing. Now, please."

Brandon Scott

This movie takes me back to a time when I was still sleeping with nightlights and dreaming of flying. All the things you said about it are definitely true but I am glad that you got to experience it and that you did enjoy it in the end.

Thomas Malley

‘Moonchild’ was a what his grandmother called his mother when she was very little.

Natalie: I love this horse. The rest of us: Uh ohhh...

Shyam Nair

Loved this reaction. Please react to the second movie. The Never Ending Story is a part of my childhood, love seeing your reaction as an adult : )

Baron

Thank you this was a great video. I have two new suggestions for you after this share, I think other people have recommended this to you in comments but just in case, Return To Oz is a scary sequel for the wizard of Oz, and Where the Red Fern Grows is a classic movie based on a book. Thanks for sharing.

Thomas Malley

Oh you’re right! She did sneeze just before the scene with Morla where she got tired of all the sneezing. That’s funny :)

Thomas Malley

The amulet is explained in much greater detail in the book. I believe there’s a whole backstory that is left out of the movie. But it’s been years since I read it.

Shyam Nair

Dont remember much of it to be honest, the last time i saw it I was a kid. Just nostalgia i suppose. But it woud be interesting to rewatch it as an adult

RX2904

How about a nice animated movie with bunnies to calm down from the Artax misery? I can recommend "Watership Down". :)

It Hurt A Lot

Ahh Watership Down, they just don't traumatize kids nowadays like they used to. The tagline for that movie should be "Sorry kids, Easter's cancelled"

Baron

I don't want to wreck you. I am just trying to think of stuff that you have not watched. So many amazing choices for entertainment to share. I also really like how you try and watch things with as little information as possible, trailers ruin movies because all those scenes are in your head, well mine anyway. looking forward to your next share, whatever you choose.

BHillzebub

It will need to be the original from the 70s and not the remake done by the BBC a couple of years ago.

Anakin Starkiller

Noah Hathaway who played Atreyu is actually designs chopper motorcycles and has practiced several martial arts. The girl who played the princess became a dancer and a professor. And the kid who played Sebastian is more of private guy but he does talk about the movie from time to time 😀

Anakin Starkiller

The music is pretty awesome when he's riding his horse on the land

Anakin Starkiller

I don't get it Artex died so quick. The only thing I could figure is that they wanted to show how hard this quest would be for Atreyu right of the bat 😐

Anakin Starkiller

He got something cooler and faster with his Luck Dragon but it could never replace Artex

Baron

That’s an interesting idea, but it doesn’t add up because if you listen to the narration it talks about all the other horrible places they visit that aren’t in the movie, the swamp is the last place they have to look.

Anonymous

Maybe she should react to coraline next?

Dan

Why? Does her horse die, too? :P

Bastian is absolutely short for Sebastian. And NGL these may have been the first nipples I saw as a young boy. There may have been many pauses at that point of my family’s VHS copy of this film. PS, the name Bastian gives (his mother’s name) is Moon Child, which I never could hear from the film. Didn’t make sense till I read the book.

Anonymous

well that was mean :D

Darius.

I must say, it's rare for someone to notice, let alone comment on the Light Source shinning on His Face when opening the Book. I was quite surprised [so kudos to you], however, I'd like to offer a different viewpoint on how they might've accomplished it. It's possible all they did was have a blank white surface that was modified or reflective enough, to have the Light from above bounce onto the young Actor's Face.

Diiirk706

I OWN the OG good version trilogy on Blu-ray as an ''adult''..... Hell the good version of the first movie was what went on cable growing up in the early to mid 90s in Canada.... You're now telling me I have to torrent the crappy American version just to sync up.......? Siiiiiiigh....
