Jeremy: Greetings, patrons, and welcome to your semi-annual Wow That's A Lot Of Music episode. As usual for Retronauts Radio, this file is much larger than usual in order to preserve the stereo soundstage and convey the original quality of the audio rips here as much as possible without excessive compression. And, as usual, this episode features lots of short excerpts of music but certainly not enough to replace or substitute for the actual albums being discussed here. Please support niche music labels and video game artists!

This episode primarily consists of new vinyl releases, many from Ship to Shore Phono, who have begun making an effort to distribute their releases in non-vinyl formats. (In fact, I believe Gimmick! is currently only available on tape.) I did toss a few older titles in here as well, though. For variety.

I'll let the music speak for itself. Well, and my recorded podcast voice self. He does a lot of speaking here.

Cover art by John Pading, and edits/musical insertions by me (gotta give the usual editors a bit of a break when it comes to a beast of a production like this, you know?). Featured albums:

  • Gimmick!
  • Phantasy Star III
  • Suikoden
  • Breath of Fire III
  • Persona (25th Anniversary)
  • Virtua Fighter
  • Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster
  • Dragon Slayer IV
  • Sega Forever

I always love these episodes! After thinking on it, I reckon I have a slight preference for the previous format where you play each clip one at a time, because I really dig the analysis of the tracks. With this format, I find I’ve forgotten what tunes I’m listening to and what you’ve said about each one by the time it rolls around. But I know others who are here more to vibe to the music than to get the analysis might have a different preference. Curious what others think!

How’s the GBA Castlevania LP releases sounding? I’m leery of pulling the trigger due to the GBA source material. Anyone know if they improved the sound?
