Nadia: Children of the '80s learned a valuable lesson early in life. Why make your parents agonize over a Nintendo addiction or a comic book addiction when you can do both and make them rend their clothes over your enthusiasm for Nintendo-themed comic books? Truly Satan came to our houses disguised as Valiant's Nintendo Comics System, a short-lived series produced by some surprising comic legends. Nadia puts her head together with fellow weirdos Matt Green and Daniel Kaszor and they kibbitz about this weird hiccup in Valiant Comics' history. From Mario's goofy adventures to Link's valiant quests to, "This rendition of Samus is pretty hot, actually," they talk about it all.

Had a few random issues when I was 5-6 years old. Didn't have a local comic shop til a few years later so I got them at K-mart.

Ha, amazed to hear someone mention the “When Mother Brain Rules” ep of Captain N. I kinda thought maybe it was a fever dream because I remember seeing the episode once when it aired and then it didn’t show up on the DVD set. To make it sound maybe a bit more creepy pasta-ish, when it aired with my local affiliate- they were having technical issues right before the episode aired. I don’t remember exact details but they were airing nothing (other than maybe a “please stand by” message on screen) this lasted for a couple minutes into the airtime then suddenly the episode started playing, already in progress. As a kid, the weirdness of the episode made me assume it had something to do with the technical issue- but probably just a coincidence. The whole thing kinda creeped me out as a kid.
