Due to the holiday and the general chaos of our recent recording schedule, I'm going a bit out of order this week. Rather than posting a Micro episode, I've put together our next full podcast recording, Episode 80. That means there'll be two of my Micros in a row before Bob returns to his usual hosting duties. It's madness, I tell you. Madness.

Anyway, this episode is a bit unusual in another sense: No Bob. He was sick with the flu the day we recorded this and had to sit out the session — which is just as well, because "haplessly sitting for several hours in a tiny unventilated studio next to someone whose body is overflowing with deadly viruses" is how most Michael Crichton novels begin. Thankfully, this episode featured two lively guests — semi-regulars Dr. Sparkle and Frank Cifaldi — who picked up the resulting slack.

The topic, once again, delves into the obscure as we look at little-known Japanese developers who emerged in the wake of Nintendo's initial console market success with Famicom. There's a reason most people haven't heard of many of these studios...

Description: TOSE! Towa Chiki! VAP! Meldac! SunSoft! Atelier Double! These are but a few of the studios we (that is, Jeremy, Dr. Sparkle, and Frank Cifaldi) explore in this look at weird, often terrible games made by vanished Japanese developers in the ’80s.

And with that, I will wish you fine people a happy Thanksgiving if you're American, and offer you Black Friday felicitations if not. Valete!

Dr. Sparkle AND Frank Cifaldi but no Bob, sounds like a even trade.

It's hard to hear the hint of worry in your voices in regards to the election. The fear is real now for me at the very least.
