Hello! We've been a little late with episodes recently because of Circumstances, so here is one very slightly early. It's double timely, too! 10 years on from the debut of its subject matter, and tied closely to the NES Classic Edition. Please enjoy this convenient coincidence, and also the naughty cuss in the episode title.

Chris Kohler joins Jeremy and Bob to revisit a topic from the earliest days of Retronauts: Virtual Console. Boy, what a difference 10 years makes! Remember when we were optimistic about that? Also includes some NES Classic Edition spitballing or whatever.

There are about 2 million back episodes still in the vault. If people have listened to all of those then they have heard Jeremy's sleepy voice for longer than their own mother's.

Thanks guys haven't been into an episode this much since speedruns and classic collections. This is why is support this show. Chris kohler usually seems way too aggressive about things but in this episode he really speaks to how frustrating this service is. Also glad your book just got rereleased. (How long ago did you talk about that on nvc?) keep up the great work folks. Thank you again.

Maybe - But who would you rather have reading you to bed at night? I'll pick sleepy uncle Jeremy and his Gameboy World train to dream-town every time...

Great episode. Keep up the good work.

So, about Nintendo not botching the NES Mini release...

As much as you guys berate the Genesis sound (and bring a tear to my eye in the process LOL), you have to admit that Castlevania Bloodlines OST is badass.

It's not a unilateral thing. The Genesis only sounds like farting robots in certain hardware configurations, or in the hands of bad programmers who should feel bad about themselves.

I'm really hoping that the great experience of the NES Mini — the fun UI, the multiple restore points, the quality of the emulation, the excellent audiovisual aspect — are harbingers for an improved Virtual Console on the Switch. But because we're talking about Nintendo that's probably a fantasy. I expect them to zig where I'm hoping they'll zag. They'll probably make the games playable only off of an SD card reader plugged into the Switch's USB port, but they will finally put Super FX chip games onto it. Two years into the Switch's life. Or something.

Great episode, as always. Do love the irony of bemoaning the missed opportunity and disappointment of Virtual Console for an hour, only to end with a wonderful fantasy scenario where the NES Classic is readily available at Lowe's Home Improvement stores everywhere. "Unless Nintendo just totally blows this..." . Oh, the tortured lives we Nintendo fans live.

I just want to know when we'll be able to get some Gamecube games digitally. But great episode
