This isn't strictly a retro topic this week, but it definitely intersects with the things (and some of the games!) we cover on Retronauts. As it happens, my house is just down the highway from the offices of Limited Run Games. So I recently imposed on the guys who run the company — Josh Fairhurst and Douglas Bogart — to allow me to crash their offices and talk for an hour and a half about their efforts to preserve games on physical media — including classics and future classics (and a few never-to-be classics) alike. With games increasingly appearing in digital formats only, LRG fills a valuable niche. True, the limited nature of their releases means that not everyone can own a physical copy of the titles they publish, but a major motivating factor for the company is the drive to make sure they can help digital games live on for historians and archivists long after they've been delisted from online storefronts. It's too late for WiiWare, but LRG's efforts guarantee that many more contemporary games will never be completely lost to the ether. — Jeremy

I support the LRG releases I want as a gamer, but have always been critical of their business practices. This really cleared things up, and helps me understand better why they make the choices they do. I'm glad you did this interview for that reason because trying to engage them on any social media opens the floodgates for their angry hardcore fans who shut down any conversation about why they operate the way the do.

Great conversation! I love what they're doing for game preservation, and honestly haven't really had any problems ordering from them so far. Also have a pretty good idea what Wii U game they're talking about doing and I am all in for that (and also those Saturn cases, lord knows I've got enough broken ones).

Anyone know what music is playing at 1:34:25? Some shownotes with all the music would be really nice btw!
